Nice golf course. But I hate the tee off areas. The tee off areas are all slanted and crooked. The cough course is hard enough without having slanted tee off areas. They should be like other course is flat.

Really enjoyed Sage Run. Course was in great shape and the staff was friendly. Layout has elevation changes and a couple of blind shots which make it fun to play. GPS on the carts is a big help for the first time player. It is a good partner to Sweetgrass as it is a very different type of course! Definately going back.

Excellent course! Elevation changes, distance, view, all were great! People were great too!

The course itself is nice and well maintained, and the staff was friendly.. My biggest issue was that this course hasn't been mapped by any golf GPS app. So with this being my first time here, and not knowing where I'm going, it was a difficult day. And there are a few holes with great elevation changes, but the wrong way. You're basically teeing off straight into a hill, so if you don't hit the ball very high, you're in trouble.

the course looks great this year . Plays great and its fun

Marvin Rucker

Very nicely designed course. After it fully matures, it will be a great course.

Very challenging.

Incredible course and excellent complement to neighboring Sweetgrass. This is not a course for beginners. There are rocks, tall grass, deep rough, a lot of bunkers and hills, difficult greens and many other awesome elements that make this a difficult championship course even for excellent golfers. If you are someone who cannot keep the ball in the fairway or play difficult lies, then you will have a rough day on this course. On the bright side, you will be a better golfer as a result! It's all part of the game, so I recommend ignoring some of the negative reviews that complain about the terrain and focus on a strategy for keeping pace and playing the course well. Golf is all about enjoying yourself even when you make bad shots, so go face all the great challenges this course has to offer...and ENJOY yourself!

The course is too hard for the casual golfer with too many blind shots and uphill holes. I love the natural look but the bunker surrounds are full of rocks even right next to the greens and also in the fairways. Too many holes with a bunker right in the landing area from the tee, which then leaves you in the rocks if the ball comes out of the bunker, especially hole 8 and 12 with bunkers down the middle of the entire hole. 17 is full of rocks around the green. The bunkers and other areas all have to be redone no amount of time will solve that problem you can't even play without damaging your clubs. Other courses such as Greywalls have rough and rugged bunkering but don't have the rock problem. Very disappointed considering Sweetgrass is so nice and well designed. Fix that problem and the experience will still be difficult but enjoyable.

One of the best, most challenging, beautiful courses in Michigan. Be curious about the course before you play, it’s rough and rugged, young, unique, and how it’s integrated into the natural terrain is incredible. I can’t overstate how much fun it was to play Sage Run, a contrast to the other 3 connected courses Sweetgrass, TimberStone in Iron Mountain and Greywalls in Marquette (played them all). The staff at Sage Run was friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating. Our starter, Dwayne, the very best, he went out of the way- friendly, knowledge, patient! Lucky to have him! Highly recommended and we can’t wait to return

This is a VERY nice course that is VERY difficult. To give it a low rating because it's hard isn't fair. I posted 2 big numbers on the course but can appreciate it for what it is. The greens are fast, but roll as true as I've ever seen. I will come back, and I will likely post big numbers, but I look forward to it.

Great golf course wonderful and helpful staff

This course is awesome. So much fun to play. I'm a 17 HDCP and had an awesome time. I read the less than appealing reviews and decided to check it out for myself anyways. I'm so glad I played it and I will play it again. This is not your grip it and rip it course. Fairways, greens and bunkers were in awesome shape. There are no rocks in the bunkers itself but there are rocks around the perimeter of the traps that are in the long grass but I don't feel it is anything to complain about. There are some blind shots, and some long par 3s, some up hill shots and some down hill shots which makes it a great play. Check it out for yourself, because if you read the negative you will miss out on a great course.

Would be great if it wasn't a complete gravel pit off the fairways and around the bunkers.

The greens were great. Lots of natural contours. Unfortunately this was the only thing great. The course clearly was not finished and is much too hard for the average golfer. The areas around the bunkers and in the heather were full of decent sized rocks so even if you found your ball, you couldn't play it without damaging your clubs. 3/4 of the holes were blind and many had bunkers right in the middle where the average golfer lands their drive. Two of the par 3's were long and way up a hill and essentially unplayable as you cannot stop a ball on the greens. If they were reversed they would be great holes.

Beautiful location, but not a fun golf experience. 8 out of 8 of our group do not wish to go back. Most holes were blind shots off tee and flags that you could see hole from fairway.Cart paths were not well placed. Much too difficult for the casual golfer. Good luck..

Horrible design, #17 must be changed

Course was in great shape. Difficult/Challenging layout. Not a course that you can just come out and smack it anywhere. You have to know where you are going and where to hit your ball in order to have a good round and have a fun time. That being said, GPS on carts is VERY inaccurate, which leads to incorrect shot distance, which leads to higher scores and less fun. Fix that and this course will be a 4+ stars.
