Not impressed at all with the food. The view is great the wait staff is very middle of the road at best. Prices are way to high for standard apps and Wagu Beef that was horrible. We had a table of six with separate checks and one waitress and they attached a 20% tip. The service was not outstanding in any way. only 2 top tables are high for a view. The rest you don't get a great view.

Nice golf course. Course condition was excellent. Great practice facility. Staff was friendly and helpful. But...we never saw the cart girl after the fifth hole, and the last three water coolers were empty on a sultry summer day. It made for a long, hot and thirsty afternoon.

Golfed here many times. I think it is the nicest course in the state. The links style golf course in combination with an amazing practice facility, bar, and clubhouse make it exactly what a high end golf course should be.

From a course maintenance, layout, and natural beauty perspective, this is one of the best courses around. The reason for 4 stars is on course management. Our group was a foursome and spent the day with twosomes coming up behind us. We ended up letting 3 or 4 play through, which shouldn't have to happen...if those twosomes had simply been paired up together, our round would have continued unabated without the push of small groups behind us. If you're in the area, definitely play this course. I only hope the course management improves in the future.

Play it... From the tips!!! Great views and a tough; very tough challenge...great staff, small clubhouse but no waisted space, plenty to choose from with the LochenHeath logo... The restaurant is a solid 5 star, the food is some of the best I've ever had at a golf course... The outside patio views also are pretty great over looking the east traverse bay... This place is a little gem... Tons of slope on the greens so if the superintendent is in a bad mood it'll be a very very difficult day on the course.

Have been on a little crusade playing Michigan's top public golf courses over the last 4 years and have played most in Lower Peninsula. Finally made it to LochenHeath this week. I'd put it in our top 3. Went exclusively for golf and was very impressed. Course, Practice Area, Scotland-atmosphere, their staff...all very nice.

Just got back from a golf trip in Northern Michigan. This place is perfect. The staff is top notch, the course is gorgeous and true! This was my favorite stop on the trip!

Golf here for 3 rounds. Very nice track with Little Traverse Bay dominating the views. Rolling hills add to vistas and playability. Also had lunch and dinner in the restaurant and the food and service was great.

I wanted to give this place five stars, but the restaurant staff was very snooty. We wanted to sit outside, but you need reservations even if 50% of the patio was open. This place would be a 5 star from views alone, but unfortunately, the restaurant employees were rude.

The course tries too hard to be something it's not and fails. Too many tricked up greens that actually take away from the course being what it could be. Great setting, but I'd rather play many other courses in and around the area.

A great golf course that is always in nice shape. The practice area might be the best in the state. The course is tough with lots of elevation change. Greens are fast and pure. A must play if your in the area.

Course was in excellent shape. Greens are fast and very tricky. A tip sheet was provided. There was NO GPS on the carts which made the blind holes more difficult for shot placement. Some nice views of the bay but no where near that of Arcadia bluffs. Staff was accommodating, but nothing special. Paid $140 and not worth it for me, hence the 3 start rating. I would play it again in the $85 range. Had lunch at the Restaurant. Service was good and food was also good.

What a disaster. We have been to the club house for dinner many times over the years but this year they have gone way over the top. They have always struggled to maintain competent help but we tolerated the marginal service since the atmosphere etc, made it worth the pain. This year is a whole new experience. You would get better service at the TBA cafeteria with High School students. First of all, everyone in the house is their own bartender. Despite the fact that there is a person behind the bar that appears to be the bartender, every employee takes their turn at trying to make drinks. Have you ever seen a server/bartender measure out a glass of wine with a shot glass. Well I guess this is the latest in "Total Cost Control" at the LochenHeath. And then the issue that pushed us over the top. We agree, it is a great atmosphere and secluded place to dine, but when is the last time you paid $12.00 for a Vodka and soda. For us, it was either on a cruise ship or at a renowned event like Mardi Gras. Not at a local gulf club. I'm sorry, but this gem is just a legend. The locals are out which will leave the place deserted as it was before they arrived. Maybe it's time to rethink your goals LochenHeath. You can't maintain a staff without customers and you can't maintain customers with this program...

We were very disappointed in our food. We had eaten there before and loved it but yesterday my quarter pound hot dog was just a typical skinny hot dog with very little sourkrout just mostly bun and relish. Everyone else's fish sandwiches and perch was not only half the size it was before but did not taste as good. We will not be back. Not worth the expensive price. Too bad the view is so nice.

Thank you chef Joseph George, for serving our ladies lunch group, from Cedar Creek Commons, on a Tuesday, when you are not normally open. Everyone was so pleased with the food, service and setting. Special praise for the broccoli ,cheese soup. We will be back.
