When I played here recently I was definitely impressed with the updates they have and are continuing to make. Tough track with some huge slopes on their greens. Lots of blind tee shots as well which can slow down play at times. Just drive up if you're in a cart. Simple solution. Practice area hasn't changed much but they added a learning/fitting studio on the far side of the range. Looks very nice and is being updated currently. Putting green was looking terrible to be honest and the chipping green wasn't much better. But the greens on the course were much faster and smoother. Staff is always friendly here. Here is a list of updates as I was able to see: Hole 2: Took out a bunch of trees on the left side which opens up the shot. Trees on the right remain to protect the right side of the green. Hole 4: They finally took out the silly pond on the right side of the green. The drop off on the left and behind the green along with the giant slope in the middle of the green protect the hole enough in my opinion. Hole 8: Still a long par 3 but they are redoing the middle tee boxes that get the most play. Hole 13: I could be wrong but I think the water comes much more into play on 13. I feel like they dug out more dirt to make it a more prominent feature. The water that protects the downhill par 3 (#11) stretches behind and to the left of the green on the 13th hole. It's a beautiful approach shot now. Hole 14: The water continues here a lot more than before but isn't really in play. It makes the hole look a little more intimidating and beautiful as well. Hole 16: They are filling in the wasteland on the right with sod so the tee shot isn't nearly as intimidating. They also took out a bunch of trees that used to protect the left side of the green. The approach shot is a lot more open. It seems less intimidating but it's still a tough shot to the green as anything short is no good. Love all of these updates and I hope more improvements are on the way.

Only thing better than the gorgeous course and views are the staff. The general manager Jeff is great and very welcoming. Jeff and his staff spent a lot of time and attention making sure we had a great experience. The course is about an hour away from us, but worth the drive to return regularly with the friendly staff and beautiful set-up. The course is challenging and flows well. The management is making considerable effort to improve the tee box conditions and is up front about any prior issues people may have had, based on some of the past reviews on here. Greens were some of the best we've played in the DC area. Playing in mid-September we did not experience any notable issues with the playing conditions. Playing on an in-season weekend mid-day, we never felt rushed or on top of another group in front of us. We are relatively new to the sport, shoot in the high 90s and found it to be our favorite place to play in the DC area and are sure to return.

NEVER HAVE A WEDDING HERE EVER (unless you want disrespectful staff, empty promises, slimy business-like managers, and a disorganized mess of people scrambling to figure things out last minute) The only thing good about this venue is that it's beautiful. Here's my quick and dirty list of things that went wrong on our wedding day: 1) Kelsey. If she's still working there, she has to be the most disrespectful of the staff. Not only did she WEAR YOGA PANTS TO OUR RECEPTION, she was given specific instructions for our center pieces and our couple's table that were nothing like we had asked her to do. Luckily we were friends with our photographers, because they let us know that while we weren't around, Kelsey went around to our third party vendors and talked poorly about us and how she didn't want to do our wedding. She was also given instructions to refrigerate our leftovers from dinner since we had a buffet, and we were planning to have some leftovers the next day since we didn't eat a lot with the craziness of the wedding. Completely neglected them, and thousands of dollars of steak and chicken were left out and had to be thrown away. And she WORE YOGA PANTS TO OUR WEDDING RECEPTION. 2) Terrible management. They don't care and try to back out of promises. We got lucky and booked our wedding right before the club changed owners, so we got a really good price on our contract. Whoever it was that worked on our contract told us we could have an indoor reception with 175 people, failing to inform us that their capacity is 82. So months later, not a few months before the wedding, they give us a call and tell us we have to pay $1800 for a tent to hold all of these people since their capacity is so low. So we told them no, and they offered a meeting to discuss and STILL had the audacity to tell us they'd be "willing to split the cost of the tent." $900 to fix something they screwed up (if renting a tent even actually costs that much). We told them no, and they finally caved, but that should never have even come up in discussion. 3) False advertising. We were so excited to have pictures on the waterfall with our bridal party, and on the bridge. Didn't find out until we had been standing on the waterfall for 20 minutes waiting for them to turn it on that they were working on the piping that day and it was not functional. THEN, they were supposed to have someone come guide us around the golf course for pictures to save time and get the best shots. Instead, they dropped off two golf carts for us and our photographers after we had to track someone down to help us, no guide to help us, and no map, running 30 minutes behind schedule. We ended up getting lost and taking an hour to get back so all of our guests were waiting to eat. And we came back to all of our center pieces completely wrong and a bland table for us. After spending hundreds of dollars on decorations that we found still in boxes unused later on. 4) Free champagne toast/cake cutting? Again, insanely false advertising and disorganization. We were probably a couple hours behind schedule at this point. Our DJ had announced a good while ago that we were doing our cake cutting soon. No plates. No utensils. Nobody to help us, just a crowd of family and friends, random handfuls of them with champagne and no defined toast. The bartender ended up having to leave his spot to carry out stacks of plates for everyone because no one else was around. He was about the only good that came out of this venue, and one of the only ones NOT in yoga pants. Oh, and speaking of the bar, we were to have wine and beer all night, and they ran out of cab BEFORE DINNER. After my dad spoke to a manager, they happened to find another crate of wine, but why should the father of the groom have to ever chase down someone for a glass of wine before dinner even starts?? I could go on and on and on, but I'd like to remember the good parts about the happiest day of my life. Happy to get a lot of this off of my chest, and I hope this is a helpful review for most of you looking at wedding venues.

I ideally would rate it at 3.5 but I rounded up. It's a solid course overall. The couse conditions are average plus...but the greens were very well maintained for a late summer round. The staff were 5 stars. Everyone there was very nice and genuinely seemed to enjoy their jobs. Overall it was a good experience.

Pete Dye is a sinister man as you all know. The views across the course are truly breathtaking. Bring your A game to navigate this layout. Congratulations to the superintendent the course looks amazing! Great clubhouse and friendly staff, I enjoyed the pretzel bun my burger came on when we turned. Played as 4some Sat. 5/28/2016 8am. Turned in 2:05, finished up on 18 at 12:30. Beverage cart was great, it was quite warm. $89

Played back in july, course was tough, challenging, but not maintained very well. Staff was friendly

This review is centered around perceptions and perceived value. The staff is great and were fun to be around. I love and have always loved the target rich design of the golf course. However, the advertisements, rates, and perception of the course and clubhouse when you arrive do not lead you to believe what you will see on the course itself. Some inconsistencies were: 1) There was only one bucket size for range balls- about 40 by my best guess- tough to warm up after driving an hour. 2) The range was not well marked for your distances 3) Some cart path's 200 yard stripes were off by 20-30 yards with my gps and the course poles. 4) Most glaring were the greens- i love the challenge of dead elephants being buried in greens. However, if you want to advertise yourself as a pristine course you can't have half repaired ball marks. One of my playing partners had a ten foot putt hit one of these and knock it 6" offline. 5) Some bunkers had more rocks than sand This course has the bare bones and was once a great track. However, it looks to be at a crossroads for the type of golfer they want to attract. With a little TLC it could be amazing next year.

Scheduled a 9:18am tee time. Ready and paid 10 minutes early get up to the tee box and are told the other 9:18am didn't want to play with anyone so we'll have to wait 45 minutes until there's another opening. Regardless, of the situation we were treated like children. Definitely lost our business due to lack of genuine customer service.

We had my sons wedding rehearsal dinner here, I could not be happier with everything! We had a fun, beautiful evening at PB Dye. Kelsey and her staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was outstanding! Thank you PB Dye!

We hosted my sister's bridal shower in the clubhouse restaurant and it was the best decision we ever made. From start to finish, the event coordinator Kelsey was efficient and friendly. She helped us work within our budget to achieve our vision. Chef Mike was extremely personable and his food is to die for. From homemade pasta salad to from scratch BBQ sauce on wings to his individual mayo and aioli sauces on the sandwiches; every single guest raved about the food. The service during our actual event was superb and they provided additional help setting up and breaking down. I highly recommend this venue for your event or just a dinner out.

Very nice course.

Played on Columbus Day, Oct 12. Beautiful day. Will never return. Finally have had it with ravine golf and trying to putt into the clown's mouth. Maybe single digits can play these courses but the avg Joe is helpless and that is reflected in waiting on the 10th tee three hours after start. Condition is deplorable, tees are ripped up sand, No. 8 was underconstruction all day and the rough is worse than US Open, lost three balls a couple feet off the fairway. Gave up after 13. Not worth the trip.

Frank Williams

Nice course that requires ability to hit accurate approach shots. Got stuck behind a FIVESOME of 20 something punks who routinely 4 putted and walked off of the greens like they owned them. I thought that a nice course would be free of the pathology usually associated with public courses. I was wrong.

Frank Pyon

I fully agreed with ones wrote the comment about the condition of the course. The condition of the tee box is pretty bad. Difficulty finding the flat surface without stepping on the divited area. The green condition was also pretty bad, ball was jumpy due to the putting surface still have aerated spots.

Anand Butcher

I always liked this course because the rates are cheap and the course is always challenging but it used to have a number of maintenance issues. I played it today and I can't believe how much they have improved this course. The conditions were perfect from tee boxes to greens. An absolutely phenomenal experience. I can't believe how much better this course has become. I am definitely going to play this course a few more Times this summer.

PB Dye is DYING. Used to be good, but these days it's horrible to play. First, green conditions are bad. Greens have many dead spots. Second, delays. Uncontrollable. Third, lay out. I was almost hit by a tee shot. Lot of blind shots you have to make. Fourth, not many golf carts. (huh?) I went there about 30 minutes earlier to warm up. I couldn't get a cart. The starter said the course is short of carts. Bye PB Dye. I will not miss you.

Course is in excellent shape. It is a challenging course with every hole either up or down a hill.

Matt Spinks

They have really cleaned up after being under new management. The dining area and the course are great. Wish they sold crêpes for weekend brunch.

David Mathews

Played on 9/2/2014. First off course was in IMMACULATE condition. Greens were tough but rolled true. Only complaint would have been the bugs and the rain. Fortunately I got a rain check and have to come back. Love this course! VERY Challenging. -Dave

Very nice course. I would give it 5/5 however there are a lot of bugs buzzing around the greens that takeaway from the enjoyment of finishing your putt. If you’re waiting for your playing partner, you want to get off the greens to stop the harassment. Im hoping by reading the review the management can address this issue. A bit of a trek to get there, but still enjoyed my round.

K Baker

Be careful when using the indoor golf here. They don't tell you up front, but they charge you per person/per hour on a single BAY. If you have one person on a bay its $25 per hour. If you have 4 on that same bay its $100 for the hour. It makes no sense because if you are a party of 4, essentially you're paying $25 for each player to play for 15 minutes....but if you are a single, you are paying $25 to play for a full hour.

What an amazing facility. Gus, Jon, and the entire staff are wonderful. Great to see such a great layout back in top notch conditions. This is a MUST play if your anywhere near it.

I just had my daughter's dental graduation party at the club house this past weekend and I couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out. The food was awesome; in fact, all our guests raved about how good everything was. The staff and chef were awesome as well. Everyone was so helpful and the coordinator and chef made a point of coming up to me several times during the course of the party to make sure everything was to my liking. I would highly recommend using them for any function. Also, the view from the room is incredible and makes for great pictures. Again, thanks Kelsey, Chef Mike and staff because you made my daughter's party a success!

Great Course!!! Enjoyed The whole day!

I played the course for the first time and it's in great condition. The tee boxes were a 4/5. The fairways were a 4/5. The greens were a 4/5 and could have been 5/5 if people took care of their ball marks. The course was very challenging. I played from black tees and even a perfect shot in the fairway left a difficult shot because of the hills and curves on the course. The greens were very challenging as well with each putt having a turn. If you like a challenging course def come play this course from the gold or blck tees. For the money, this course is a steal!!!

I use to play PB Dye "regularly" but a couple of years ago the course seemed to be falling into disrepair. The greens had large bare spots, fairways were dried out, tee boxes seemed pretty chewed up, etc. It's probably been two years since my last time playing there but I couldn't pass up a living social coupon for it and played today. My expectations were a little lower than normal after reading some recent reviews that seemed to indicate the course was still in poor condition. Let me assure you that on September 2, 2014 the course was in GREAT shape and I had a blast returning. My playing partner had also read the other reviews and agreed that those people must have played a different course. The greens are in GREAT shape - rolling true, fast, and just as challenging as ever. Fairways were gorgeous as were the tee boxes. A couple of the bunkers were holding water from the big rains lately but aside from that I couldn't have asked for better conditions. I'm happy to be putting PB Dye back on my normal rotation - it's well worth the drive up 270.

F Harris

The twilight fee is outstanding. The staff is polite and accommodating. The views are wonderful. No two holes are remotely alike. The fairways are pretty wide and forgiving, but the course requires accurate approach shots.

Robottrooper .

Scenic golf course. Had a glorious 18 holes despite playing poorly. The back nine was really challenging with all these hills, valleys, gulleys of grass, water hazards. Some greens require precision. Mistakes can cause you your ball to roll down a slope 10 feet or more. The worst parts are the tall grass beyond the rough. If you are not accurate and hit there then forget it. Don’t hold up the people behind you and move on so bring lots of balls. Still had a great time.

Andy Min

Course condition is very good, especially greens are fast.

Brad Garner

Wow, what a fantastic design and perfect playing conditions. I'm still equally shocked by the low prices too. This course feels like a top-notch resort club. The views are amazing!

Brian Wilcox

I have always enjoyed playing this course. It is challenging, in great shape and the staff is super friendly! I only got to play the course once last season but am hoping to make it back out soon.

Danny Rucker

great coarse, friendly staff!

Gorgeous view of sugar loaf.
