REVIEWS OF Blue Mash Golf Course IN Maryland

I play here 3 or 4 times a year and the course is always in very good to excellent condition. On a recent warm July Monday afternoon, it was quiet and I easily walked all 18 holes in just over three hours. . . and the course was its usual shape. Its not an inexpensive round, but the layout and conditions warrant the cost.

Julie Bauduy

We had a great first time playing 9 holes. It was resonably priced and everyone was friendly.

Andrew Borys

Great condition, good pace of play, good mix of holes. 17 is a bear.

Definitely one of the better courses in the area, half of the holes are wide open and the rest wind through heavy trees. Slightly more expensive than the average Montgomery County courses. If you aren't afraid of cold weather, try out some winter golf when they are running their temperature = price deal.

Patrick c

It is okay for a montgomery county course. In all honesty it is not any better than some of the other county run courses in the area. It is a little expensive for what you get. If I am going to spend around 80 bucks a round; I will just go a little west and play at whiskey creek or somewhere else. I play at Blue Mash when there is a deal or its late in the afternoon because its close by. The problems with it are the vicinity to the roadway, the power lines cutting through the course, and the driving range running along side number 12. Number 10 has you teeing off right next to the clubhouse and practice area. Also, it should be altered to have the 17th green as its green. It would be an awesome hole if it was setup like that. I have played this course off and on since it opened. They have made the 1st hole easier than it was but extending the fairway. It was probably the right move as the design was a little odd to begin with. Number 7 used to have the tee box in a place that made the hole a much greater challenge...now its just a short iron off the tee on a 300 yard par 4.

John Moriarty

Course was in good condition, except for the bunker on 9th hole. Greens were smooth, and fast.

Gary Toth

Great staff and beautiful course! A must-play if you are in the DC-area

Rino Maddalena

Very accommodating staff. Course in great shape. Always enjoy a round at Blue Mash!

I am a weekday member and I am treated just like I were a member of a high end private club. Great people!

Course was in great condition with quick greens, fun to play.

Thomas Santucci

Course is in great condition. New superintendent has made the difference and his hard the last two years have paid off. Staff is professional. Expect a fun day of golf!!

Tim Marose

Course is fantastic, and always in good shape for a public course. The pace of play can be really slow. Started at 1pm and couldn't finish before dark at 5:30. Wish they could push slower golfers a bit more to help with pace of play, but it really is a nice course in Montgomery County.

seerasa .

The course was in pretty good condition but the greens were destroyed by ball marks. Obviously this isn't on management, it's on its players. Anyone who's reading this, if you hit the green with a ball, please be mindful of others. Fix your ball mark and one more. Thanks!

Len Escanilla

Course is in great shape. The tall grass was cut down a lot lower than usual but that was fine being my first time out this season. Also, there was some maintenance on hole 8 but again not a big deal. My tee shot always lands in the huge sand trap anyway so I got a free drop. :) Driving range was in good condition and as always, the staff was professional and friendly.

Amanda Singer

Had a great round of golf and then enjoyed a phenomenal meal in the clubhouse. Food was excellent! Highly recommend the crab cakes, best I've ever had!!

A wonderful and challenging course that has holes in the links style and holes in the woodland style. Accuracy will bring rewards. Placement is very important. Good to the eyes. Greens run true - get the putts on line with the correct speed and watch them fall. A good value course.

Roger Janning

Called on Tuesday and asked if they had aerated their greens or had plans to and I was told "NO", by a woman. Called back on Wednesday to book a tee time because the online booking wasn't working, and again asked if they had aerated the greens or had plans to and was told "NO", this time by a man. Played on Thursday and lo and behold the greens had been "AERATED"? Not nice!

Jeanne Johnson

The course was in great shape, especially the greens, but it was still far too wet in several locations (e.g., the fairway on no. 7). Also, several of the pin positions were in severe positions way to close to the edge of the green.

Perry Williams

I moved down the street from this course 2 1/2 years ago. I already lived in MoCo so I had played there a few times and all over DC Metro over the years. Since Blue Mash has become sort of a home course for me, I have to say that I'm constantly amazed at how consistantly beautiful/ great the course conditions are, no matter the weather. The layout is unique in that it offers both forgiving and "challenging" holes. The practice area is second to none to area public courses (huge grass driving range / free chipping and putting areas). And the staff is ALWAYS accomodating. Greens fees are a little high during peak times but I avoid that by checking their website or GolfNow for hot deals and/or play off peak. I've seen most public courses in the area and Blue Mash is in the 95th percentile. So glad they're just 4 minutes away!!!

I can't say enough good things about my experience at Blue Mash. I played my first round there last week with my brother and father in-law, and I have been back twice since. The course was in phenomenal shape. Top notch. Probably the most unique course I've played in Montgomery County. My father in-law is a member at Congressional, and even he was raving about the conditions and layout of the course. The tee sheet seemed pretty full, but you couldn't tell by the pace of play. The staff were incredibly helpful. When we made the turn, the grill was very crowded, but they offered to bring us our food on the back 9 so we could keep a good pace. Marshals were also equipped with cold towels, which was wonderful since the temps were pushing a very humid 95 degrees. Afterwords we enjoyed a few drinks at the bar in the clubhouse. Definitely worth the drive from Bethesda.

Jonathan Morris

Blue mash is a fun and challenging golf course. I have been playing here for many years now. Besides the beautiful layout the staff keeps it in consistently great condition. The club house is modern and welcoming. The staff are friendly and helpful. I’m always impressed by how the team keeps the course in great shape.

Shawn O'Brien

Great course, in great shape. One the best public courses I’ve played in the D.C. are.

HEY YOU

Bob Cohn

This has become our new HOME course. It's easy for us to get to, rarely do we have to wait to get a tee time. One of the things I really like is that both in the spring and fall they alert you that they have aerated the greens. I have been to too many places that don't tell you until you're on the course. One place in particular in the Md area leaves holes 1 and 2 unaerated then you get hit from there on out. This course is well maintained even through it's heavy play.Ths staff is always accomodating and I have never had any issues there. Fact it, when they first opened I played there and swore I would never go back. There were no marshalls, and the pace was TERRIBLE. We had to call the club house to get someone out to see what was going on. That was WAY BACK.......I suggest you try this place. It's easy to walk, what you see is what you get, nothing tricky, no railroad ties or massive bunkers you can't get out of, well maintaned and fun to play.

Played yesterday with my brother in law and a friend of his and they added a forth, young guy that could absolutely bomb it. I was the short hitter in the group, 240-250 hitter but had a great time, everybody enjoyed it. Course was in surprisingly great condition considering all the rain. Last time I played hear was over twenty years ago, did you switch the nines? Anyway, Loved it we all had a great time . . .my only criticism were your yardage markers, too thin and can't see the color from any distance. Suggestion, put a 150 barber pole in the center of fairway and put the others in the ground. I'll be back! Thanks again for a great day.

David T

Considering their price and location, I expected the course to be in better condition. They are more concerned with the start and pace time. The stuff isn't the most welcoming. There are a lot of other courses in Montgomery county that I would prefer. We drove close to an hour, waste of time and money. We wouldn't be coming back any time soon.

I.E. Xam

Course is in excellent shape. Wide fairways mostly but some holes are narrow and a real good challenge. Greens are first rate. Course is above average challenge. Very attractive course.

The reviews for this golf course are fake. I personally was paid to create a throw away account and leave a positive review (I am using the same account to tell you this, literally stole a name from the show Parks and Recreation). I have no idea how many other reviews are false, but please keep in mind that they are paying people to leave fake positive reviews.

Randy Kindsfather

Great golf course!

Elisabeth Herzfeld

Interesting layout, a little on the pricey side, but worth it if the greens are in good shape.

Benjamin Israel

Course was in great shape! Fairways were beautiful.

Eugene Uhm

I don't make it out to Blue Mash often, but I had some free time and thought I'd give them another shot. It was exactly as I remembered, conditions were very good considering all the rain we've had recently. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They even honored the web rate of my green fees I saw. Highly recommend Blue Mash as one of the top golf courses in Mo Co!

Joshua Brown

Just wow! Sooo much rain this year and fairways are still running. Greens have a great firmness and were VERY true while putting with very few ball marks. I don't know why I haven't made the trip from Annapolis before as this is truly a GEM. Layout, fantastic, conditions, fantastic, staff, fantastic...I will be back!

Doug Bratt

While It's a bit pricey, we found Blue Mash's fairways and greens to be in great shape. The back nine is particularly scenic and challenging.

Ryan Williams

Greens and fairways are in great condition

Rebecca Larson

Nice course, wide open so you don't have to be worried about spaying shots everywhere and losing them. Slope of the course shows it's not too difficult. It makes up for the friendly fairways with fast and sloped greens which still make it a challenging round to shot low. Fun course to play and speed of play was good. Water on back nine is perfectly set up so you can warm up a bit before that challenge.

Jian Xu

Mostly play at winter times in past few years as summer rate is too pricey for me. Long and wide fairway. Big greens (fast). A lot of holes with water especially the back nine. The ponds does show a blue reflection in winter time as the name of the course indicates. Beautiful and great golf course.

Pat Malley

Good course, good people

Hyunsuk Oh

They did not keep their hours. Their Website shows their opening 7:30 am but it stays closed when i was there at 8:20. What a lazy management!!!!

Awesome place to play golf or have a beer

Charles Center

Great course, very friendly and helpful staff, and the simulator option on a snowy day saves the weekend.

F Harris

$74 to play a soggy, unpicturesque course that sits next to a landfill and has butt ugly electrical transmission lines running through it? I think not. I'll take 3 rounds for the same price at beautiful and challenging courses, such as Little Bennett and PB Dye. In fairness to the management, I did not play. What moron would play a wet course with rain and the temperature many degrees below the posted green fee? The local golfing world probably agreed, because the course was pretty much empty, and the fee was still $74. There will be no repeat business when there is no initial business.

Daniel Citrenbaum

an excellent course with fairways and greens in great shape Very challenging from the blues for average length hitters with some 420+ par 4s (e.g., # 1, #2, #3). #17 is a great par 3 with little margin of error, slight mishit or not enough club can easily find the ball in the water; #18 nice 550 yard finishing hole, etc.... Keep up the good work!

Louis Limber

Blue Mash is a wonderful golf course for all handicaps. Its plays firm, long, and challenging. It has a beautiful layout, two different style 9 holes. The greens roll true and fast. Its a hidden gem. They offer Team leagues, Individual leagues, Night golf, Memberships, etc. Blue Mash has good food and the staff is very accommodating. Blue Mash is a MUST play course in the DMV area.

John Stevenson

The course is in very good shape and it's an excellent layout. It's a really good course with a nice staff and excellent practice area. I gave it 4 stars because one small thing that bothered me: they started singles on the back 9 between groups coming from the front. Nice to see they're busy, however.

Joel Gerson

Pros: nice fairways, good layout, moved fairly quickly for a weekend. Cons: lots of ballmarks on greens, greens were not as fast as I would expect, and biggest con being the clubhouse decided to send a twosome off the back nine on a Saturday right in front of us, which created a 25 minute delay by the time they fixed it (pulled the twosome off), and really negatively impacted what was otherwise a good experience. This is something I would expect from a cheap muni but not a course like this.

Patrick Messett

Everything is outstanding from the course, staff,to the restaurant.

Yoonyoung Choi

Beautiful course and kind staff!!

Mark fowler

other than the sand traps the course was in great shape and a wonderful walk in the woods

Guillermo Alomar

This is my home course where my leagues plays and we consider it one of the finest courses around regardless of the price. You get what you pay for and blue mash gives you a lot. The best practice facility around, good clubhouse, great staff, and the course is in fantastic condition. Play it and you'll love it.

John Thomas

As for someone who's worked in the golf industry for 23 years ,I can hands down say that this is a magnificent Golf Course. The layout is challenging, yet Fair. It has a variety of different looks off the tee. It doesn't play like a true links style golf course but it sure kind of gives you the sense with water and tall fescue grass being boundaries. And for a first-timer they're not a lot of blind shots on the golf course. Very straightforward. The greens are always very respectable too.

Rashaad Hassan

If you’ve never been here before than you’re really missing out. I first read about this place on yelp and I just had to try it out. A beautiful, quiet and serene environment suitable for all ages. This always the place I’m at almost every weekend.

Charles Brown

Very nice course reasonable price. Nice staff

Rich Toohey

Blue Mash is one of the best courses in Maryland. It is a challenging course, yet a good course for the average golfer. The staff is very friendly and treats the golfers with respect. It is a must golf course to play! The location is also great for golfers from Maryland, DC, and Virginia. Membership is also available!

Jack Costello

Amazing condition, great staff and great practice facility. Greens were rolling super pure.
