This is a serene park that allows campers on sites with low prices, only open until October of each year, used to have public pool but has since closed, also has a boat ramp that is very busy during the summer on Lake Cumberland.

This is a wonderful, great, excellent place to go camping. staff is super nice and knowledgeable. facilities are very clean just remember to make a reservation if it's a holiday weekend.

Lady at front check in post was hecka nice, let us use restroom with out passess. Only downside is there is no beach/waterfront access. Is close to golf course where I found ball.

During the weekend the lake is so crowded if you do find a cove to drop anchor and swim, the wake from the other boats about drown you. I would much rather be on the lake during the week.

As far as parks go it's a pretty good one. They have plenty of alcoves for picnicking and the such. They do not have much in the way of walking trails.

beautiful campground with a wide variety of campsites and a few group shelters, a very nice looking golf course in the center of the "island". easily accessible boat ramp that's plenty wide enough for busy summer days with a very large about of parking and bathrooms. its is very close to several gas stations a mom n pop grocery store and a dollar general with a walmart and kroger being just 10 minutes away.

Very noisy. Race track Saturday nite racing until 1:30 in the morning when we were there. Could not have normal conversation around the campfire. The campsites we were assigned had a street light. Could not enjoy fire or Stars. Only reason I give 3stars is because of the golf course. I won't be back.

Love camping here. There is even some pretty good privacy spots where your not packed in like sardines. The shower houses are always nice and clean, so that's a big +.. There is also a nice boat ramp if your just looking for somewhere to put in.

Wonderful and beautiful course ...... however I played here recently and we was on the last hole which would have took us maybe 10 min and they said we couldn't finish which would have been ok it wouldn't have been good business but would have been ok but one of the rangers started screaming at us that the carts had to be in at 8:30 but sign says closes at 9 !! We never seen a sign that said that !!

The course was in great shape. Greens were pleasantly challenging. I have paid alot more to golf at places that are not nearly as nice and not as well maintained. Highly recommend golfing here!

Wonderful place! Quiet, clean, scenic and miles of walking trails and boardwalks throughout. Great for photography and nature watching. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and reasonably priced camp spots and cabins. Highly recommend a visit but book early!

Seemed like a weird, depressing state park. Self registration was cheap but the slot wasn't even big enough for our envelope. The bathrooms were very nice and clean. There were some broken swings, which was lame. We were amongst very few camping but that may have more to do with the time of our visit. No water spigots or outlets at the tent only sites.

Nice campground, but some of their sites have all the living space and utilities on the wrong sides of your RV. I've never seen a campground with this issue before. Some of these sites will have you falling down the hill right out of your camper door. Fortunately they had one site they could switch me to. Ask for verification of these items if you are reserving a lot here. You may end up 5 hours from home with not a lot of options like I did.

My husband and I camped at the campground for 4 nights. Campground was clean and well maintained. Lots of families camping. Weekend evenings are filled with typical noise, music, laughter, games ect. Completely quiet by around 11pm. Nice place, will be back.

Nice place, but kinda empty. Golf course looked nice, campground needs some repair here and there. Boat ramp is very nice. I think if the pool was reopened, it would bring in additional people as well as locals to the park.

Beautiful park. We just moved to Kentucky and I was looking for a place to put my boat in and General Burnside State Park came up the winner. I don't play golf but I I did this is where I would play the course is beautiful. The campground is one of the nicest I have seen anyplace.

Absolutely excellent family vacation spot for anyone that enjoys camping, fishing and site seeing. With Boonesboro State Park, Cumberland Falls, Mammoth Caves and multiple other historic sites within reasonable driving distance and the boating, fishing, hiking and camping offered by the park itself, you'll never lack for something to do.

When you pull up the rv site it shows tones of amazing pictures of water, waterfalls & just an a very relaxing place to stay in reality the water is on the golf course that you can't get to. The sites are nice & quite. The bathouse is NOT handicapped accessible. I will not be going back.

Nice little park it has grills and two shelters. For big cook outs or reunions. Beautiful in the summer time they always have kept it neat. A little fact that I always find I am very proud of Burnside Kentucky is the birthplace of the Boy Scouts of America. General Burnside Island is part of the Daniel Boone National Forest they always keep it nice and neat and sometimes in the summer it is crowded there are campgrounds also there is a shelter where the bathrooms are with a sink and counters for people to fillet and clean their fish after they come out of the water and there is a large boat ramp for many vehicles to pull in at the same time have a wonderful day and God bless you all

Scenery, welcoming friendly service, & professional knowledgeable employees. The boat ramp is very easy to navigate with ample parking. I'm not a golfer but there is what appears to be a very well kept course with plenty of variety.

This was a great camp ground for us to stay at all weekend! It was close to a boat ramp which was an important for us. Plenty of room at our site and a clean bath house close by. They had daily activities that we didn't attend unfortunately but would like to make time for those in the future. I don't know the story on the pools but I would like to see those upgraded and used.
