Staff was great!! I was by myself on the range and a staff member came by while cleaning up and offered pointers which really helped. Could tell the staff is knowledgable and passionate. Course is also a lot of fun and rates are very reasonable!

Nice course, often very reasonable rates. Not many water or OB hazards, but virtually every hole is tree-lined, so missing the fairway usually means trouble. Greens are smooth & relatively easy. I will say, the course would greatly benefit from being rolled, or some kind of turf management to even out all the bumps and holes. Parts of the rough & cart paths need some TLC. Nice local course though, for sure. Don't forget to touch the toad statue on hole #1 for luck.

Staff is always friendly. While a busy place you always have plenty of time on the miniature golf course. I take my son here multiple times during the summer. It's one of our favorite destinations. I wish they would install cameras though in order to capture great moments on the course like when I biffed it one time trying to get my sons ball out of the water. It was so funny. So much fun take your family today!!

The golf course looks beautiful, staff was very helpful. The only issue I had is with the cart paths. For the most part they are completely destroyed and rutted up. they are so bad that if they don't fix them soon it will also destroy all the golf carts. They are getting completely beaten up by all the damage that they drive over.

I second my husband's review and also check out YELP where another bride explains her problem: Recently, I had a beautiful wedding in Des Moines. We used Toad Valley Golf Course as our venue for the reception. During the wedding there were a few hiccups, but the reception overall went pretty well. Unfortunately, after we left the venue and when we got back from our honeymoon we started realizing all the problems that occurred during our wedding. First, my grandmother made homemade mints and I made a special trip to the venue to make sure the manager could place these mints out during the h'ors d'oeuvres hour but they were never placed out. Also, no one called me to tell me what were done with them so it was a complete waste of time for my grandmother and myself. Second, my guests were moved last minute from a spacious building for h'ors d'oeuvres to a crammed lobby area which quickly became uncomfortable. Third, we were never offered left overs from the cake or the food which was ridiculous because we paid for all of it. Lastly, the most important thing is that we are MISSING GIFTS from our reception. My mother's gift along with 3 other gifts have disappeared and the manager keeps dodging my calls about the matter. I finally reached her via text message of all things. We have still yet to receive any sympahty from the golf course regarding any of these matters. Also, I was told I would receive a call about the matter this morning but received a call in the afternoon stating that they feel bad so they will be giving us a small amount of money to try to make up for it, but again there was no sympathy from the manager and they took no responsibility for their lack of keeping an eye on our presents. I even tried contacting the owner and he did not call me back either. It's just been one unprofessional thing after another. Please DO NOT choose Toad Valley for your venue to golf or for your wedding and tell your friends that if they do they could deal with thieves and the most unprofessional business in Des Moines. It's just terrible that someone could steal presents and even worse that the company has taken no responsibility about the issue. I hope that no one else has this happen to them because it's just unnecessary stress after what was supposed to be the best day of our lives:(

Nice course great prices cheaper then any course around and the owners are quite pleasant only complaint if any is the lack of sand traps I like the challenge thou I will say lots of nice water hazards on some of the tee offs. They do there best to maintain the grounds on a daily basis so we can enjoy our round of golf. At least that's how it use to be now it's how do we make a buck faster there friendliness has turned into get another on the course and another dollar in my poket good luck even if you reserve a time they just keep pumping people out onto the course so hole 1 is a good 35 min wait with the reservation and once your out there they dont care what's going on from fire to hole one being turned into a putting grounds by 30 kids to if your even still out there they closed up and locked up a hour early leaving me still holding the keys to the golf cart what use to be a respect for there cliential has turned into give me your money and keep moving.

My wife and I had our wedding service using Toad Valley's indoor facility almost 2 months ago - it was a small and simple ceremony (nothing too extravagant). Choosing Toad Valley ended up working out fantastic! It was a perfect venue for what we needed. It was a pleasure working with Allison; she was generally quick to respond to questions. Plus her staff/family was very helpful with accommodating our needs and making it a very special and memorable day for us. Definitely a very pleasant and positive experience.

Great course and staff. I'm just disappointed in the way other golfers don't take care of their divots and ball marks on the green. We fixed at least 5 per green. If people want to keep the price down because it's very affordable they need to take care of these.

Dishonest Staff I made a tee time for 7 in the morning. I arrived at the course 20 minutes before 7 and no-one was there. I waited till 7:02 still no one was there. As I was putting my clubs away I watched the staff pull in and walk into the clubhouse. I called the clubhouse from the parking lot to find out if there was a problem with the course and was told that they were taking care of flooding in the back hallway of the clubhouse. They could have been honest and just stated that they were running late and I would have played my round. I will never play golf at this course again.

I love golfing at toad valley go a lot but I will not be returning to toad valley golf course due to there was a judge and lawyers there on 5/6/16 that think they're more important than everyone else line of people behind them waiting would not allow anyone to pass even though had to wait 25 mins or more a hole for them and they threated to find my name out once I confronted them and who knows what they would of done but club house did nothing cause who they were that is not right they should of kicked them off course no room in this world for people like that it's a public golf course

Communication is very poor. Had multiple phone calls go unreturned when trying to set up an event. Even when I was e-mailed that I'd receive a phone a call, I never did. Golfing there is great, but it was frustrating to plan an event there.

We always enjoy this course. It has some easy holes and some a bit tougher. for us but the layout is great and we enjoy the surrounding scenery and deer. Well we do take a cart, I do as much walking as I can We play this course as often as we can.

Fun course with lots of challenges. While I don't recall seeing any bunkers, there are plenty of side hill lies and up and down hill approach shots to challenge you. The greens are excellent. They are quick, but roll very true. Too bad people abuse them by failing to fix ball marks. Fixed an average of 3 on every green. Accuracy is at a premium. If you stray from the fairways you'll be in heavy woods or lose your ball in thick clover. Clubhouse and grounds staff were friendly. Golf is cheap, but anything in the clubhouse definitely is not. Would play again without question.

I was very excited when we first booked our ceremony at Toad Valley. However, at about 7 months out from our wedding I found out that Allison (event coordinator and manager) had booked another wedding the same day only 1-2 hours before ours. She never contacted us about this information and I only found out because I had asked a question about our schedule for the day. At first Allison had a lot of ideas on how to make it work, but the next day she claimed none of the ideas would work because the other wedding wasn't flexible (they booked 2nd and only had 20 people compared to our 250). From there the situation got worse with Allison not responding for days/weeks and it taking almost an extra month to get our deposit back. The entire situation was extremely unprofessional and dealt with poorly. As I searched for a new venue I kept being turned away because they refused to double book on the day! Do not waste your time with this venue.

The course is nice to golf. The service on the other hand is terrible!!! From other comments posted, it looks like there needs to be improvements. I had a group of 10 golf there this past Saturday. I booked the tee times a month in advance. When I called they informed me that I could get a group rate of $30 for 18 holes including cart. This was informed to me by the front desk person I called and then confirmed to me via voicemail from the manager(which I made a mistake deleting it after I listened to it). When I arrived to start golfing at 1 pm, the front desk guy (middle aged, short dark hair, on the tall and slender side of things - I was too mad to even look at his nametag and get his name) told me that it would $40, which is the regular rate for the weekend at 1pm. When I tried to inform that we had a group rate and I already called it in, he rudely responded to me by saying the rate was $30 plus the purchase of cart rental. Then this employee tried to become friendly with me and told us that it would be best to golf two groups of 5 players.Our group already had our best ball teams set up and we did not need this "unwanted advice" from this rude employee. I was irate by how this employee at this golf course totally SCREWED my group. I had to personally apologize to every single person in the group they were charged ten more dollars than what they were expecting. I will never golf at this golf course again!
