Sugar Ridge is a nice, well maintained course that I have enjoyed playing over the last few years. Today was my first free Saturday to golf this year and I was excited to play this course with a few of my friends. The first nine holes went great and we were thoroughly enjoying ourselves. We stopped at the clubhouse to eat lunch and then continued to the second nine holes. We were spit in two groups and arrived at hole 10 just ahead of another group. On hole 12, our foursome was accused by an off duty ranger named George, who was part of the group behind us, of waiting at each tee for our friends behind us. We assured him that we were not stalling and told him we were playing best-ball to keep a good pace. He continued to harass each of our groups on holes 12 and 13, stating that there wasn't a group directly in front of ours, so we must be holding back. I have never witnessed a ranger act so unprofessionally at any golf course I have patronized. During the following holes our group caught up to, and had to wait for the group in front of us before we were able to tee off while George's group fell behind, proving that we were not hindering the flow of play. We later confirmed that George was, in fact, a ranger of the course. My friends and I do not plan on continuing to give Sugar Ridge Golf Course our business based on the low standards they set for their rangers. A ranger should prioritize their customers' safety and satisfaction, not harass players before properly investigating the situation.
