Great municipal course. Well manicured, rolled greens make it challenging for the average golfer. Sand traps are hit and miss. A few holes are lower elevation and traps retain water after rainfall.

It's one of the oldest public golf courses in Indianapolis, built approx 1924 or 25, I think. My father was the first manager. Didn't have to be a pro back in the day. Well kept and well managed better than 3 stars, but short of 4 star.

Cheap golf course. Fairway and rough conditions were okay, but greens were kinda bad, ppl do not fix their divots on the green. Holes are very close to the road, was scary to play bunker shot facing the road. Also, so many parallel holes, you will see many ppl hitting from your fairway. Overall, this course was fun to play if you have your expectation low, and do not want to spend a lot.

A public course that here in mid-May 2018 is in great condition. The fairways and greens were neatly trimmed. The greens were reasonably fast and rolled true. Only negative I could find was the sand in the bunkers, but since I normally play in Florida... well just different sand, I guess. I was also impressed that the greens did not have a lot of ball marks, for a public course that was a real plus. Nice job Sara Shank.

The greens were ok, That is it for the positive. Now for $36 for 18 with a cart, I would have liked to see all the trash picked up all over the course, IT was just ridiculous the amount of trash that was on the course, Crossing the bridge after teeing off on 18, I look at the curb on the bridge and a used Tampon was just chilling there. WOW!!!! what a value for your money...............

I have been looking into a place to buy a gift certificate for my boyfriend as a present. For the average city golfer looking for value and interesting play, this place has some pleasing features, and good service. I think almost anyone could enjoy the $20 unlimited playing here.

Course doesn't use GolfNow (easiest booking service). Have their own booking website, but only allows 2 players minimum to book. Staff (Don) was extremely rude over the phone when asked about a single player on one of the many available tee times online. If you don't want my business, there's plenty of other courses in Indy.

Deserves a 5 star rating, because it's a city course, and exceeds expectations. Greens are in great shape, and the course in general is very playable. Well worth the $27 green fees.

Played 14 holes at twilight on a Tuesday during June 2017. The cost was $20 twilight rate for all that you could play. For a city course, Sarah Shank is in exceptional shape. The greens are very quick, and there are even a few that have strong undulation. I played Golf Club of Indiana (semi-private) this past weekend and Sarah Shank's greens are nearly on par with GCI's greens, which is remarkable considering how much cheaper Sarah Shank is. The fairways were also in good shape and playing pretty quick, even if they aren't bent-grass. I did not play out of any of the sand traps, but they did appear to be lacking some sand, again understandable for a city course and the value. The staff was plenty friendly. I will be back several times this summer.
