Fun layout with some interesting holes. The course isn't in great shape as of early August 2019.
I live here. Golfers seem happy. Course is well maintained and easy to navigate.
i love the golf course

Forewarning, this course was closed a few years ago and just recently was reopened. With that said, here is my review, understanding that things are still a work in progress. They put their money into the greens, and it shows. Smooth, roll well, green, and only a few dry spots. The fairways have dead and weed areas, but are coming around. The rough is in good shape in most places. The tees are good in the areas you hit from. The design of the course is fantastic! It is a short and fun course that takes a decent amount of precision. All in all, I will be back.
Under new ownership! All of the grass and greens have been totally replaced. Great beer selection! Can’t wait to schedule some corporate and personal tee times!
Very lovely in parts, but they need to put some work into re-doing some of the greens and patching up some other sloppy parts of the course.
The food was great, they also have a nice selection of bbq sauce.
If you want to tee off it's a great location not so out of the ways if your family or friends live near
Great course and staff.
Great time
Will open n the spring....a little pricey right now....
Really good food
Golfed on January 4. Never dreamed I'd be playing golf in central Indiana in January. The course is in pretty good shape for this time of year. Carts are often cart path only since the ground is usually pretty soft this time of year (when the course is open). If there is morning frost, they don't allow golfers out until it melts off. Flags are in the holes but they aren't changing their locations. No tee box markers. Greens are in good shape considering they aren't mowing anything this time of the year. No one (sane) plays out of the bunkers this time of the year since they are never being raked and many have standing water in them. Most of the leaves have been blown off the course so plugging a high lofted shot is about the only way you'll lose a ball in the fairway or first cut. Overall the course is in great shape for January. They're sprucing up the inside of the pro shop so there is almost always a staff person on duty.
Great laid-back comfortable place to practice and play golf. Average prices with excellent specials during the week and at different times of the day. Lots of upside for this community golf course. Jackson and his staff are GREAT!!!
Consistently very rude people. Course is enjoyable but not worth the price. The attitudes of the workers have caused me to vow never to go back.
It's great to have Saddlebrook back open after a two-and-a-half-year hiatus!
I definitely like the re-model of the clubhouse. The food is good, more selections. I'm waiting to play the golf course.
Good layout.
this course gets some bad reviews and some of them are pretty much justified but its not as bad as people make it sound. sometimes i wonder what courses these people must be playing regularly if they want to bash decent places like Saddlebrook. heres my opinion of it when i played there for the first time in july 2012 (our hottest and dryest summer on record no less, although it rained heavily the night before i was there). first the range: very basic with only one target flag and nets on the left but the grass you hit from was as fluffy and soft as any grass you will find on any fairway. the putting green was absolutely perfect, as were all of the greens on the course. the tee boxes were in pretty good shape overall with nice fluffy grass (i usually refer to this kind of grass as "carpet" cause thats what it feels and looks like.) thats makes it easy to hit from. as i said, the greens were maybe the most impressive condition i have ever seen any greens. they were immaculate in every way, just perfect (minus the ball marks of course). the biggest problem by FAR is the fairways. a few of the holes the fairways were perfect soft, and like carpet. but the vast majority of them for some reason have really nice green spots mixed in with spots where there is no grass at all just brown dirt to hit from. a few of the holes had nearly no grass on their fairways at all. i dont understand why its like that but its not fun to hit from if you cant hit the greens spots. probably the best thing about this course is the layout. not a long course at all, actually quite short. the front 9 is pretty wide and forgiving, and exactly the opposite as the back 9, it is very tight and has houses bordering the side of every hole some of which are VERY close down the right side of the fairway so if you hit right, you hit houses all through the back 9. but there is water on every single hole , several holes have water on both sides, large bunkers, the front nine has some good ups and downs with hills and bumps, just an all around very nice layout with short 490 yard par fives and a ton of short holes that you can get to the green off the tee. but bring lots of extra balls cause this place has water EVERYWHERE, but the scenery is really nice , some of the holes made me think i was in florida playing golf, very nice. i would also tell you that this place is very strict on coolers and food on the course. they have a black man that drives around on a cart with red flags on the back who is the ranger and he will take any coolers or anything else he can get from you. very unfriendly and unwilling to allow you to do what most others courses allow. and then tries to tell you its the law or something, total BS, i know its not the law , he is just an a-hole, so if you want to bring your beer, put it in your bag and reload from your cooler in the car on the turn. just FYI. plus he likes to just sit on the tee and watch everybody like he's some kind of golf God. dude needs to get a life in my opinion, but whatever. i got my cooler back on the turn and drank all i wanted on the back 9 cause the guy in the clubhouse was really cool. again, just letting those people know cause i know most people like to drink a few while playing. all in all, for a part time golfer who plays about 10-15 times a year, i would give this place a 7 out of 10, mostly because of the layout and the overall design and views that you get while playing, its pretty cool but in rough condition on the fairways.
Great price and well kept greens and fairways
Had a great time good course even for beginners.
it's good.
Nice course
Awesome
Great staff!
I love this course!!
Nice course, good greens. Needs signs to guide new players around the course, especially after hole 8: it's not obvious where to go for hole 9. The only drinking water on the course is bottled water at a dollar each. Friendly staff. If walking, some long distances between tee boxes.
Value - Very good! We paid $27 at 10:30am on a Sunday and that came with a $4 credit to use in the snack bar. Staff - Very friendly. The guy in the clubhouse joked around with us. The starter was also very friendly. We didn't bring coolers or anything like that so I can't comment on them confiscating coolers. My only issue with the staff was in the snack bar. There was no one in there half the time. I was tempted to just go behind the bar and refill my tea myself. Facilities - Average. They have a small clubhouse with the normal stuff for sale like hats, polos, sunglasses, etc. They also have a snack bar area where you can get grill items like hamburgers, brats and hot dogs. They also have chips, candy and drinks. It is all pretty clean including the rest rooms. Practice Area - Good. They have a full length driving range and it's in close proximity to the clubhouse. They also have a pretty large putting green right next to the clubhouse. Greens - Okay. The greens on the front nine seemed to be in a little better shape. They roll relatively true and are average speed. Some of the greens have steep slopes so they can't cut them too short or it would be unfair. Their biggest issue is the dead spots. I'm not an expert but I'm pretty sure this is a bug issue. There is no way that all those spots are caused by ball marks. Fairways - Above average. They were really good like carpet in most areas as mentioned in a previous review. We roll the ball and I really never needed to in the fairway. Rough - Fair. It's what you would expect at a municipal course. Bunkers - Worst I have ever seen. This was my biggest issue with this course. It has quite a few bunkers but they are in terrible shape. They had puddles in them and weeds and were not raked. Quite a few of them were roped off and most of them had signs apologizing for their appearance. We played them all as ground under repair and took drops. Difficulty - Somewhat challenging. Most of the front nine holes are pretty open and easy. The back nine is a whole other story. You must hit it straight. Several of the holes have OB on both sides of the hole. The course is 6000 from the tips which is pretty short and allows you to hit irons off the tee to keep it in play. It did seem to play much longer than the yardage. Layout - Great! I really enjoyed this course. Honestly, the layout is good enough that it could be an awesome course if the greens were nicer and they fixed the bunkers. Every hole was a new challenge and it never got boring. Overall - I liked the course. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 because of the greens and bunkers but it was $27. You totally get what you paid for and I would definitely go back.
Course has potential for being great, but still has a lot of growing pains. Layout is planned to be challenging and well executed. Greens and fairways still need a lot of work with several plumbing leaks. Over priced for current condition. Be sure to note carts are an extra $15 each.
The pizza place is small, clean friendly too all.
Nice place
Campo entretenido. Reciente reapertura. No es largo. Sí es tecnico. Barato
It was good for the price
Very clean friendly fun service
White hair pretty easy course... Tipping on the level of a goat Ranch
Didn't know the fastenal truck yard was part of the golf course must be the secret hole
lovely area but need to repair fence it is falling apart and destroying that beautiful neighborhood
Great place to golf
Rolyno's Pizza is great. Waiting for the golf course to open.
My BF enjoyed the super cheesy pizza. The garlic bread was my favorite. Super soft and garlicky! The wings were juicy too!
Very friendly staff..Went for a Birthday Party
Course is terrible. Staff very unfriendly. Tried to bring the family out and they refused. Will never go back.
They are amazing, I like playing golf in their, and they have great staffs
Good course to learn on not too long great price
Nice place
Great food and good service!!!
This course has come a long way over the past 2 years with a new ownership/management group at the helm. It is becoming one of the standout courses on the west side of Indy. It also happens to be a tremendous value. ⛳️
Played this course last in 2010 and tried it in Aug of 2019. Told that it was closed for some time and recently reopened. Greens were in pretty good shape except for a few spots. Fairways were okay for Indiana. Played on a Thur. morning and paid $18.... good course for that price and I live and play courses in FL
Its still needs work on the front 9, but i believe it is on it way back. The price compares to all other courses but if they want to keep people in the lot they need to find a good price point to make money and win over golfers.
This course is definitely on its way back. Just played it for the first time since being reopened and am very encouraged by the progress. The greens are in excellent shape and the fairways are 90% back. They had just aerated the tee boxes so they were a bit chewed up and the bunkers need some work, but overall very pleased and will be back. I walked 18 holes for $18 in 3hrs 15min. An incredible value and good pace of play.
The pizza is good. It taste like a small town pizza place or similar to Piezanos. The breadsticks are the best we've had in Indy. The chicken wings were delicious and I'm picky on those. We love that it's close to where we live!
Always fun
Great course. In outstanding shape!!
Rough shape still but the greens are absolutely amazing for being closed for 2.5 years
This is one of the nicest golf course n indy a clean environment n friendly workers i would go back
Really fun course ,and well kept.
Great to see the progress on the course and can't wait for the grand re-opening in the spring! The pizza at Rolyno's is delicious...the Family Special is an excellent deal!
Visiting my family.
Great zza
Golf course is in terrible condition, they charge too much for the condition it's in. They do not have a Pro running it If you want to pay too much money to play a goat ranch this may be your course. Oh and watch out for idiots hitting in to your 4 some when you play there as well. I won't be back
Had dinner there..it was great!
I wanted to leave an updated review since the golf course has reopened. I have been playing golf for 20+ years on literally hundreds of golf courses. I am currently a 13 handicap. I played the course on a Tuesday night after work. The club house is nice but simple and you can smell the attached restaurant which I am sure drums up business especially since the word is the pizza is really good. I did not eat. There were 3 gentlemen at the desk, one was obviously a trainee being trained by another and the third was on the phone (he lacked god customer service on the phone, but I didn't deal with him). They were very helpful and I thought the prices were more than reasonable. The practice area seemed more than adequate for an evening range session or a preround warm up. The net on the driving range is in bad shape and I would suggest taking it down just to improve the overall appearance of the area. The golf carts are brand new and the nicest that I have used in the city. Gas powered but very quiet and FAST. The golf course has been closed for 2 years so I expected things to be a little rough. To my surprise, with exception of a few localized spots, the greens were GREAT. That is obviously where they focused their initial money as they should have. They were slow but I assume they are leaving them a bit on the long side to let the root system develop. The fairways and tee boxes are pretty rough (weeds and bare areas), they don't look like they have been worked on other than keeping them cut. It didn't affect my game in general but there were a couple of shots that landed in hard-pan that likely would have been in the fairway. We can chock this up to growing pains so I won't hold them to too high of a standard. The back nine is a little rougher than the front but it obviously doesn't get as much sun so that can be expected. The rough was in pretty good shape and a good length. Bunkers are just dirt right now and I suggest a local rule to pull out of them until they can be updated as well. Please don't remove them, too many courses have done this and it diminishes the quality of the golf course. Some of the cart paths are being taken over by the neighboring wooded areas, this seems like a simple fix in the long run. For course design I give this place a 10/10. I have never played a short course that required so much thought and ball placement for scoring. NO SINGLE HOLE is wide open off the tee. If you are playing the appropriate tee you will always have something to think about as you hit your tee shot and I love that about this course. The greens also have great undulation and some of the potential pin positions are just down right evil, which I also love. The back nine is tight and demands smart decisions and the front nine has plenty of water and OB to keep things interesting as well. One other suggestion is to get the hazards and OB marked. The local rules on the card were not clear enough for me to account for a couple of situations. Specifically #5 & #7 left. Overall if they keep making improvements this will be one of the great affordable courses in the city. I now see why it was so important for the neighborhood to step in and save this golf course. I will definitely be back. 4/5 stars only because of the fairways and tees.
The course needs alot of work. Played 18 here on 4/13 and the greens are in really bad shape. The course has not recovered from being closed for a few years.
Good condition fun and cheap. Will go back
Cool place
Place is in great shape
