I didn't even see that someone else had a similar experience about "The pro shop guy" until finishing my novel.
The only problem I have is with one of the staff members there, but he seems to be in charge. I believe his name is Dave. I would never mention a person's name for a review, but he has been less than kind to me more than once for absolutely no reason, essentially refusing to allow me to golf there, for whatever reason that you may determine yourself. The first time, I went there around 6pm to golf. I said, "I'd like to do 18 holes with a cart please"--'you won't get 18 holes in, the carts have to be in by 8:20pm'-- "I play pretty fast, can I pay for 18 & be in by 8:20?"--'You won't finish 18'--"Repeat question--he just looks at me, no response, takes my debit card & says nothing else. I was done at 8:05pm, & he actually stared at me on the way to my car, as if annoyed that I finished so fast. That was at least a year ago.
Last week, I called to see if they were open for golf, I can't guarantee it was him, but I guarantee it was him. Everyone else is always polite. "Are you open for golf?"--'Yes, but only for 9 holes'--"Oh the other half is closed?"--'No, it'll be 6:30 when you start, you can't do 18 holes before 9 o'clock' -- "I usually golf in around 2 hours, could I just pay & see if I can finish?" as deja vu sets in-- 'No, you can't do 18 holes' -- "OK, I guess I will go somewhere else, thanks" -- "Bye"
It would be more professional to just say 'I do not want you to golf here' than to tell me, someone you've never golfed with, that I cannot golf 18 holes in under 2.5 hours.
If Dave reads this: I've always been polite to you, & the nicest thing you've ever said to me is, "You need a collar, I'll let it go this time". That was my first time ever golfing there. I now realize that the class of dress is at a higher standard than that of how the customers are treated. When I went to a different golf course those days, the employees knew who I was talking about..."That sounds like Dave probably...that's ridiculous".
And for the record, I have never in my life taken more than 2 hours & 20 minutes to golf any round by myself.
