REVIEWS OF Pine Meadow Golf Club IN Illinois

Bill Walsh

We stopped going when they kept raising prices. Worst range balls ever. Staff seemingly indifferent to any criticism. Traps vary from fair to awful. My father and uncle grew up with Joe and knew him before and after Cog hill. Many years ago we saw him and asked if he remembered our father’s. He was slipping at the time and sad yes but really did not. W asked why he did not have senior rates at his courses. A guy came from behind the bar and walked him away. Like Cog Hill, overrated and over priced. Sad, but the family seems to bleed these courses dry.

Great golf course with maybe a better range. Tons of practice area on a beautiful piece of property in the north burbs.

Mickey Insalaco

Great track. Greens were good shape the course was well groomed

Looking to purchase a putter, and they let you take one off the shelf to play a round with. Awesome customer service. Now, in response to some other previous reviews -- I've seen a couple of questionable incidents, but I think they do cater to the golfer. Lucky to have some great courses here in Lake County, this is one of them.

Best golf course I have been too

Great public golf course. Very challenging and a good value.

Great public golf course. Very challenging and a good value.

The staff at Pine Meadow Golf Club treat us similar to some private clubs. The golf course is well maintained with fair greens. Their amenities and food are also very good.

Played my last round of golf here. Spent tons of money here over the years, buying multiple sets of new clubs, etc. Tried to tell staff about fairway issues (dead grass everywhere, etc.). Was blown off today over the phone by one of the staff pros. Said he was too busy to listen to my feedback. Went to course today to talk with GM about fairway issue. Owner there as well. Was told that the damage to the fairways (burnt brown grass) was caused by heat and excessive water and humidity. I asked why similar damage was not evident at Lake Bluff golf course just a few miles away, since both courses see the same weather. No answer for that. I also noted that the Lake Bluff course was in far better condition than Pine Meadow and had green fees that were more than 50% less. No answer for that either. Pine Meadow should discount their green fees by 50% for rest of season to be competitive with nearby courses that are currently in much better shape and charging less!

Great service everyone is so friendly.

The staff is rude. I called to see if i had left something up there and the man on the phone was repulsive despite me being very polite. This makes me angry that after I bought multiple golf rounds from them they were rude and disrespectful.

Loved the layout and condition of the course despite having almost a foot of rain over the last month. Every hole out there is different, makes you shape shots and the greens are well bunkered. Don't be deep as a lot of greens are tipped back to front. I would say the price on the weekends is a little steep considering they don't have GPS on the carts which would make pace of play speed up, as well as give someone who's not played the course before more info.

Thomas Kwiatkowski

A beautiful course. Well maintained and cared for. Challenging without being overbearing and frustrating. A great afternoon

I played September 23rd and this course was a real treat. It let me go big out of the tee-box and made me use about every club in my bag. The course was in pretty good condition following a week of rain and spots that were either flooder or under maintenance were marked off. The rangers were very helpful and informative and the clubhouse had the best golf course hotdog I've ever had (no joke). Price was pretty good since we played during the week and I really felt like I got my money's worth as opposed to some other area courses.

D -U-M-P spells dump. Slowest greens you can imagine, poanna everywhere, chunks of sod in the green, burnt out patches on the tees. This should be a $35 course in the afternoon. Take your $50 and go elsewhere Village Green is down the street. I'd rather try that one. Bunkers at Pine Meadow are either mud or brick hard pavement with no sand. It's a joke especially for the reputation this place has. Stay away.

Great staff... thanks to Dennis Johnsen and staff for making Pine Meadow a remarkable place to golf. Things have really turned around at this place lately. If you haven't been in a while, go check it out. Great time, great greens, worth a visit for sure!

Bit expensive, at $65 per person with a cart, but really fun and worth the price. The views are really good, although I wouldn't go here if you've never shot under 100, as it's pretty hard

Damaged by rain a bit. Quality declining. Not worth the $80 charge if not maintained properly.

A very nice golf course nicely maintained. The place is a little bit dated could use some love but other than that I recommend it

Course was in great shape for the beginning of the year. Greens were true and Tee boxes well manicured.

STAY AWAY!!!! Staff are rude and everything is overpriced. Your not allowed to practice your short game without purchasing a rock hard bucket of balls to practice with... Who wants to do that ? I am NOT doing any damage to your grass, practicing my chip shots on my short lunch break. Never again will I give my money to a course that is so short sided and cant be friendly to a returning customer. You have lost me as a customer for life and I hope more people read this review! GO ANYWHERE ELSE especially if you want to practice and get better!

Greens are to slow and each is a differnt speed, cut to long, sand traps don't drain water. All types of divits in the fairways and ball marks on the greens. Never seen a ranger or ground person on the course. Priced to HIGH for what you get. Poor looking club house and gas carts that were on there last leg no GPS. Great looking course and layout just like upper Michigan could be so much better, if they put back some of the money in the place. Were is all the money going? Not a place for seniors who play two to three times a week good once a summer or fall so many better place to spend your golf MONEY.

Dr Paul Potach

I think this place is great. It is my favorite golf course in Illinois. They made major improvement from 2 years ago green. Now they are perfect. The people that work there are wonderful and friendly. I have my son taking lessons with john Andrews who is a fantastic golf coach especially with private lessons. Anyone who doesn't like this place needs to get a life.

Can someone at the club explain why they only allow hitting from the mats on Mon - Thu? On Wed I show up early to hit some balls and the mats are tied up with a clinic so I take my red cart and hit off the grass. I come back Fri before 8 am and there's no clinic, but I'm told there's no hitting from the mats on Fri - Sun.

Michael

Great golf course. Perhaps it's a bit on the expensive side, but it is a challenging course. Large tee boxes mean you can find exactly the perfect tee spot. Many greens are pretty large but the pins are placed in some difficult locations, which I like. The back 9 is more difficult than the front, so make sure you are recharged at the turn.

Steven Wheeler

Twilight golf back 9 was awesome!!

This could be a great golf course. Its length and layout are a plus. I will break down the reasons that are currently preventing this course from being great from tee to green. I will begin this review by saying: this course charges $90 for a round. The tee boxes are rarely cut, the grass is consistently an inch deep, its similar to standing on high pile carpet. Your feet sink in to every tee box, and roll around on every tee ball. Fairways are nicely cut, but often play slow and wet. Bunkers are composed of heavy, wet and inconsistent sand, almost always they are filled with water. This is very frequent here. The rough is consistent with other courses. The greens are where things become very inconsistent with other $90 courses. They aerate 4-5 times a year. The greens play to a 5-6 speed. once or twice a year they speed them up and the course is fun, but then, 2 days later they are back to hammering the putter for a 15' putt. The range is one of the nicer in the areas, the balls are pretty much consistent with any other range. Hard as rocks. Overall: The length, and layout of this course was designed to be firm and fast, and in its current condition its not worth $90. All told the course is playing to a $50 level. Recommendation: Cut your tee boxes, firm up the fairways, speed up the greens to a 10, and figure out how to manage the sand conditions in your bunkers. If they got softer range balls similar to the ones at Stonewall Orchard this course would be unbeatable.

I live nearby, but played Pine Meadow for the first time in October 2016. The course isn't hugely challenging, which is good for me since I'm not a skilled golfer. It was in pretty good shape. Staff was friendly. Not giving it 5 starts because of the price. This course should be priced lower, all things considered. Seems it still wants to charge a premium price for a golf experience that's about average. Steeple Chase in nearby Mundelein is probably a bit nicer for less money, and Thunderhawk in Beach Park - truly an excellent, and very challenging course - is a few notches above Pine Meadow.

Jason Peterson

Great course and practice facility

Bret Cigelnik

The staff especially the head pro Andrews are complete jerks. Everytime I go there is an issue. Highly do not recommend going to this facility.

Steven Petetkort

One of the best golf courses in the Lake County and Chicago Metro area. A gem. Play golf there. Excellent instructors. The list of good is extensive.

Jimmy JAM

Most overrated, overpriced course in the state. 80-$100 is a joke.

Zack Fishman

Very beautiful and challenging.

John Cimaroli

Pure greed. Staff are really unfriendly. White Deer Run or Stonewall Orchard has it all over Pine Meadow.

Here's my issue... Pine Meadows is a wonderful course. I would have given them more stars if it wasn't for the individual at the turn. We tee off at 7:46am on 9-27-15 for my fathers birthday. The people behind us are about a hole and a half back by the turn. The employee keeping time at the turn has the balls to say to us "we better pick up the pace or we'll be asked to leave, we're 10 minutes behind their 2 hour limit!" ASKED TO LEAVE!? Good luck with that! For almost $100 per person with a cart and no one waiting behind us for at least a hole and a half, you deem that to be an appropriate way to treat your patrons? First time there and last time. There are far better courses for $100 that wouldn't even dream of having the nerve to speak to us like that. Thanks for the memories Pine Meadows. I really appreciate your mistreatment.

Jennifer Yates

I have really enjoyed the time I have spent at Pine Meadow Gold Club. The staff and golf pros really work hard to make very experience a good one. You can't go wrong with a great corse and great people.

Amy Cusack

Terrible staff. Very Rude

Drew Thoren

Beautiful course. Not inexpensive though. People don't seem to care for your business. Good clubhouse food.

For nearly $100 a round you would expect to find sand in the bunkers, instead of mud/dirt and that they would not be such disrepair

This course is not worth the money. They are raping people with the cost and they know it. I think the people who work there were a little rude also.

I have been at Pine Meadow Golf Club for a long time now and it will continue to be that way. Staff-Have made me feel welcome and have made relationships with me. Mr. Johnsen has been great with junior golf and especially the PGAJLG. Also, the private instructors have been fabulous. Food-Good Course- Very pretty with lots of wildlife. Greens are a tad slow but easily adjustable to. Wide course but still provides a great challenge Practice Facility- Easily the best in the area. A great driving range and chipping/pitching areas
