It's a tough course if not using your own clubs. Takes some time to "know" the rented clubs. Absolute great vistas. Lots of " Kodak moments"!! Bring extra balls as the lava takes but does not give back. Lots of "stuff" in the golf shop. Go to Mama Lani Golf web site to book time on line to save $$$. Have fun!!

A very fun day of golf and great people. Course conditions were excellent. Restaurant was closed but that may be a temporary situation. We went to Tommy Bahama for lunch and had a great time

Great course and excellent weather conditions today. Light wind, smooth greens and a wide open course made for 2 3 hour rounds. Nice pro-shop and friendly staff. Great starters and cart attendants today and we were treated very well. The restaurant is closed indefinitely so half a turkey sandwich from the beverage cart cost $8.00. No coke products on the course ☹. They have a kamaaina weekend special of 2 days of unlimited golf for $169.00. The normal rate is $125.00 per round. This is till the end of September so now is the time to get out to Mauna Lani.

I will never go back. They pulled me off the course to pay an additional $40 becuase my 14 year old son was riding with me (not playing). I was not upset but simply unaware of the fee. I asked if I could pay when I returned and they say no. They insisted I leave the hole to go back and pay. Unbelievable. Keep in mind I already paid $275 play! Never playing there again.

Our club played the North course ... the course is in immaculate condition... I rated it four stars only because the greens were running too slow... very smooth but probably 8-9 on the stimpmeter... very attentive and friendly cart ladies... prices reasonable for a resort course... recommended!

I can’t give this a 5star because it’s not super high end, but it’s close. IMO the south course is in better shape that Mauna Kea (a bit more $$$) but the layout wasn’t as challenging though I didn’t mind. The views are spectacular throughout the course and 14-16 are worth the ticket price. Some of the details were lacking (Mauna Kea was not) but I don’t need a free fancy yardage book at over $50 more a round. I will play the South Course again. But next time I might tee off in the afternoon and try to time reaching 14 near sunset. I can’t wait!

One of my favorite public golf courses on the Big Island. Some of the best ocean holes in golf. If you have time check out the North Course as well. A little more challenging than the South Course, but it is a very fun track. Get your camera ready for the 9th and 10th holes (North Course) as they are ocean holes along the north side of the Fairmont Orchid.

First off this review is for theNorth course but mostly about the A++ customer service experience. Jeff was very helpful getting my Dad and I out on the North course EVEN THOUGH we were late arriving. Kelvin was very helpful ensuring our cart was peoperly outfitted.. even gave us a logoball and metal divot repair tool with course logo (since this was my dads 49th of 50 states to golf) and Felix the starter offered good advice on other courses to play while we stay. Would have loved to finish playing, but dad was weak from time difference and medicine dosage so we had to end after 3 holes. Monica (on site medic/nurse) walked out to the car (where dad was in the air conditioning) to check on him (he is doing much better after some rest, food, and insulin bavk at resort...thanks Monica!). The gentleman at the desk (after Jeff) was truly that. I had thought only to get a raincheck to come back and finish later in the week but he fully refunded our greens fees in case we couldnt make the 40 minute ride back. This is what customer service excellence truly is...AT EVERY LEVEL we saw. Oh and the North course is sinply magnificent...great shape, well maintained with breathtaking view. I would highly recommend this as a nust play in Kona with spectacular views of both ocean and mountain (and that was just the first 3 holes)! Mahalo!
