Beautiful course and very well maintained. Played with two friends and had a great time. We play fast and stopped at times to take in the views and take photos. Didn't catch up to anyone and the closest twosome behind us remained at least two holes back.

Went here for sunrise yoga, played some tennis in the afternoon., and did the Mahola mixer golf lesson and three holes that they offer on Monday nights. All were a ton of fun, staff and the golf instructor were awesome, and a really great way to see some amazing views in Princeville. Highly recommend this place!

Stopped here on our honeymoon after having hole 7 of this course as my computer background all summer. The views are insane, the course was great. Paid $325 for 18 holes, a cart, rental clubs, 6 balls, and some range balls. Seemed like a high price for this course in my opinion but I enjoyed it and the views were worth the price.

I got married there and played the front 9 and I can not say enough good from these guys! 7th hole for the wedding was perfect but what really made it for me was the customer service. Jamie and Tom were amazing with our families. We didn't felt rushed for the wedding and when I asked to booked a tee time kinda last minute on a Friday night (when Jamie had already told me he was leaving for the weekend) for the next morning, they made it happen and gave me an awesome rate! We showed up the next morning and every staff member we had to deal with was nice and polite. They gave me a bunch of little souvenirs which may not seem like a lot but to me, it just goes to prove that they cared. As far as the golf goes, it's obviously a very scenic track. Greens were nice, fairways in very decent shape too. Hard to really judge as I only had time for a 9 and it rained for 3 holes but from what I saw, good course! Good job Makai Golf Course! This review is specifically about the sunset golf cart tour hosted by Tom Freestone. We did the tour two years ago and enjoyed it so much we did it again this summer. The tour lasts around two hours and includes some of the most scenic views on the island. Tom keeps the conversation rolling with information specific to Kauai, including local plants, birds, topography and even includes some Hawaiian history. This is fun for all ages. This is a must do. Spectacular course and well ranked on a national level, so you're going to pay a lot to play. They claim they use dynamic pricing, which I'm fine with, if they actually did implement it. But when you pay full price for a course with half of its bunkers in a state of disarray, something has gone wrong. I shouldn't have to pay 100% of the usual cost if the course is only at 75% of its usual condition. There was also a lot of debris on many holes and crews were working to clean it up. The course was mostly in good condition otherwise, despite the monsoon like weather that hit 3 days earlier. And it really is a spectacular course; I just feel like i was ripped off considering the overall current condition of the place.

Though I dont live on the island of Kauai this is still my favorite course I have ever played. The people are very friendly, although the prices are pretty high per round but it is pretty close to worth it. The grass is very green and the ocean/jungle views are spectacular. It seemed to me that it was just as fun to play as the Princeville golf club course which is near by. I love this course! Best experience playing golf ever! 4.5/5

We had our wedding on this course earlier this year and it was in fantastic shape. My husband played the course (previous LPGA caddie) and loved the course! Although it's costly its highly recommended.

Beautiful course! Andrew, the club PGA Pro, is cool. Saturday and Sunday short game and full swing clinics at 11 am for only $10. If nothing else, you get to chip and putt and swing on an amazing cpurse with Callaway clubs. Grab breakfast or a drink at the grill and relax. The sunset golf cart tour is incredible... do it!

We got married on hole #7 at sunset and we couldn't have imagined a more beautiful spot. Jamie was EXTREMELY helpful and made our day absolutely perfect!! He took care of all of our needs - even the ones we didn't think of. He personally escorted my wedding party to the site, popped champagne bottles for us, provided beer, golf carts, chairs, tables, cornhole, cleaned the tee box, and shooed away sunset spectators from getting in our photos. He made the entire experience so easy, super friendly guy and would definitely return to play golf and see him again!

We played this course 3 times as it's the only course on the Hanalei side of the island in that the Prince has been closed for 4 years now which is not widely known. The course is in good shape challenging to play but not visually as exciting as you might think other than a few holes on the ocean. The price I think is way too expensive and believe it's demanded in that it's the only course in the area. $250 and a later rate at $205 so bring your wallet and raincoat though the rain didn't really bother us as it's warm and tropical. Worth playing once and will say we stayed at Wyndam which gave us a 2 for 1 rate which brought the cost to $275 for both my wife and myself.

Great staff, amazing views...best on the island in my opinion. The course was in good shape and was the most enjoyable of our time in Kauai this year, poipu bay was a very close second. Greens were aerated but we knew that coming in and received a discount.

Got false information followed by arrogant attitude in golf shop by staff. Called ahead regarding overnight parking for Kalalau Trail and they confirmed that this would be possible. This makes intuitively sense given the shuttle to the park starts at their club. After arriving in the golf shop they claimed there is no overnight parking and treated me like it was my fault without offering a solution for their mistake. I actually planned to play golf and use their range following my hike, but I will make sure no-one I know will support such a unwelcoming club. You never get a second chance to make a good first impression!

Always a treat to play this well groomed, manicured golf course, fantastic views, the staff is always very friendly, would love to see the rates a little lower, put everyday/ anytime at the $125-150 rate and I would drive up from lawai beach at least twice a week Aloha

Sorry, I can't give this a 5 star rating. It's just not deserving. Great location on north end of island. Great people working there, very friendly and willing to chat it up with you. Course is in good shape. Greens were slow. Layout and views were not all that. I really think this course is overpriced. If this was under $100 it would easily make it a 5*.

I played this course last year and the year before, but as with some of the other reviews on here it is overpriced even for Kauai. $200 plus dollars to play is a little steep for the course. I stay in Princeville for a month every summer and enjoy golfing, but can't justify that kind of money to play. $150 range including club rental and I would give it 5 stars. The views are fantastic and the grass feels like carpet.

The setting and views are unbelievable. The layout is ok and the course conditions when we played at 9 am were very average. It is not a 200 plus dollar course, no way. Fair Price for conditions when we played would be $80-$100. Price for course in mint condition would be $150-$160. At $210 it needs to be conditioned like Augusta National, its not even close.
