REVIEWS OF Ko'olau Golf Club IN Hawaii

John Huh

Playing golf at Ko'olau was the best decision I have ever made when I visited Ohau this week. I played many golf courses but this was the one of the best. I highly recommend all of good golfers out there to try this course when you have a chance. This course will challenge your skill all around. Make sure you take extra balls!!!

Billy Elam

Golf course was excellent. Laid out nicely. Honeys restaurant is located on-site. This is truly a very good good restaurant food was awesome and cheap.

Marion Edwards

You start off by some drive up a side of a mountain. Then be greeted by a man taking you clubs from my truck and put them on a cart for me. I went and checked in and walked to get a Sammy at the bar. Spam and egg. It was so big and cheap for the size. After checking in for golf I was given a code for range balls. It was Matt only this day. I won't hit my irons off Matt's. The course first hole was a par 5 down hills. It was so it was in greatest greatest shape of the places I've placed in Hawaii so far.

Dennis Shewell

Had breakfast at Honey's. Excellent as usual.

Stephen Birch

Course was unplayable due to poor drainage, but they still took my money. Poor experience. No yardage markers on path, in fairways, or stakes. Course is an afterthought for the facilities. Nice scenery, but it's Hawaii, everywhere you look there is beauty.

Patrick Robles

Attended Coda Financial Christmas dinner on Thusday. Parking was wide open, no traffic. Koolau Golf Club is very nice, the staff was very welcoming. Toured the buffet table and staff was happy to show the evening entrees. The bartender was happy to serve. Overall excellent venue. Bon appetit.

Justin Schweers

Great potential but it appears they don’t put any money into maintaining the course. Recommend playing another golf course.

Brian Kealiinohomoku

It's my home away from home. It's spectacular and Wonderful. It's what I call God's majestic forest.

Rich A

Wonderful service and very scenic lunch setting. The food did not disappoint.

Seagem Fix

Very nice and beautiful!

Keane Muranaka

Catering Food was just ok.

久保哲郎

This course was created to be the toughest golf course of the United States and is too tough to play for double digit handicapped golfer....

YEJIN ABBA

Used the trailhead

Picture says it all. Back 9 like this on every shot. It was a job just keeping the clubs clean my shoes are destroyed. Conditions were unplayable. Fairways lined with crabgrass, bunkers hard panned with vegetation growing in it. Greens are very sandy and bumpy. Lift, clean and place is a must but still cant get a decent lie when placing the ball down on turf. Staff is super nice. Club under new ownership and they are making improvements hoping changes will make this place great again as I really love this course. If you hit fat shots a few times in your round expect to get sprayed with mud!

Ace Cervelli

The views are what stand out here. The service was nice, but seemed a smidge understaffed. The course was better than what the reviews led me to believe, but I find it hard to swallow that is was in this condition when it was named a top course. It is very wet by nature and that lowers the quality a smidge, like water in bunkers was common. Overall tho, if you want a very challenging course with beautiful vista's, this might be it.

aj AJ

Complete environmental destruction in the name of english fun

Joseph Olivera

Great place to play and great for weddings

brave ohe

The beauty of the mountain range of Ko'olaupoko, will leave you in aw.

Matthew Porter

Terrible greens, fairways and bunkers. A real shame for such a beautiful place. Great view, not that good for golf! If the course was maintained to a better standard it could be one of the most memorable golf experiences you can have, but unfortunately it is one to forget instead, cost me a box of balls. Worst course I have ver seen.

Kriztofer Cole

Great course, very clean and relaxing ask for Carl he was very helpful and knowledgeable. The shop was good and had lots of good gear and really nice shirts.

Brady Parnell

One of the best layouts for a track you can play. Beautiful course with awesome scenery. The course does lack in a lot of manicuring. Greens are not well kept and so inconsistent. The course is in the ko olau mountains that get a fair share of rainfall so the course is wet and mud does affect your ball, cleaning it every hole is a regular occurrence. Great track if you can get a good deal but full price is not worth it.

Clayton Tseu

Beautiful scenery with the majestic Ko'olau mountain range as the backdrop.

Eleazar Fajardo

This course has three positives aspects, it's in Hawaii, the staff is very welcoming and is really challenging for those enthusiastic golfer like I'm, bad things: the maintenance, I do belive the maintenance in this area is hard or they just forgot how to maintain a golf course, fairway too muddy, I lost at least three balls that I really saw on the fairway. Around the green is almost impossible to chip, it's muddy and high grass. The sand in the bunker is red and very hard, difficult to hit properly the ball. I hope, the maintenance team can improve the conditions of the course, because it can be a wonderful course.

Patrick Zabinski

A great location for a seminar.

O A

Always good times here

Cindy Jenness

Honey's served aloha with great food

Sheri Stewart

The owners are sweet, the course is the most beautiful you'll find anywhere, and it's challenging but worth it! As I understand, the course has very recently been renovated so keep that in mind when reading older reviews.

Tommy Hooton

Great location. Staff friendly and cooperative. No real grass on fairways.Thick bladed grass either hard to get clubhead through or you hit fliers. Chipping is next to impossible. Extremely muddy, have to clean ball from thick mud each shot. Bunkers filled with water or weeds----very little sand. Greens are bumpy and slow.Tough target golf--very few level lies. Have not played here for some time---now I remember why.Such a waste of perfect golf landscape/terrain.

Stan Muneoka

Great music venue

Penny Wright

This is always a must do for our visits to Oahu. It is a little too expensive, but we try to use the discount golf sites. The service is friendly and the views fantastic. We have had sunny rounds and been deluged by a down pour. Each time a special memory of some very challenging golf.

Guy A

Great place to attend Church and or play golf.

Michael Macsemniuk

The setting is spectacular and that's where it all stops. The course was not necessarily designed for golfing tourists, local members might find this place forgiving after a life time of play. Very poor quality throughout adds to the difficulty! Need to be a ball rep to play here!

Chang Lee

Very beautiful and kind employee.

Margaret Johnson

Excellent food and very polite and personable friendly service

Danielle Battisti

Beautiful golf course!

Steven Lavoie

There's a great trail behind the club that goes up to Likeke Falls. It can be a bit rough in some places but the waterfall at the end is a beautiful view and both shallow and safe enough for kids to play in.

Charles Scholz

Spectacular scenery, course can be difficult and because of location, wet, some places muddy. Restaurant food is decent and you can be blessed as there is a church next to the clubhouse.

kealohilani asakura

I came here for a conference, the views were breathtaking and the food was amazing. It's always great when you have great company.

michael beattie

The price to play this course in winter is unreasonable. None of the fairways are in good shape with most of the back nine plugging completely. The greens (every one of them) are overgrown and covered in weeds. We were given no opportunity to rectify the (at best) marginal round we had, which left a bad taste in our mouths when we left. The property is, of course, very beautiful and there's nothing else like it on earth (many amazing views), however the course is not in playable condition and will not be for the time being. If you have booked a tee time within a month or two of my review.. you have been warned. If you read this review and think you can tough it out, then check the course out before you play. When we we arrived, there was a twosome at the proshop demanding a refund because they had "the worst golf experience of their life," and no one had told them the degenerative shape the course was in beforehand. They were told there was nothing that could be done, but were given the course managers business card.. Both the proshop clerk and the marshal told us on no terms should we attempt to play to back nine because it was completely lost from a maintenance standpoint, and recommended we play the front nine twice. In my opinion, for the money they are charging at the moment, golfers should stay away from playing the course entirely. It is very disappointing, as this is an unbelievably breathtaking property. At the end of our round, we mentioned that the course was much worse than we expected, even with a warning, but the proshop worker replied with, "I told ya so." Served us right for ignoring all the signs.

Robert Palmer

Will it actually go here to play golf this is the beginning of one of the trails to go up to the waterfall you park at the far corner of there's a little road that goes up to a water tank and right before you get to the water tank make a left and climb up the hill it's some beautiful terrain I want to get up towards the top of the hill you'll see kind of a big tree on the right there's a lotrel that comes in before work kind of forks and it's the main trail in two different spots followed that up to the right and you'll be at the waterfall in just a few minutes definitely a easy hike and a beautiful place to go

Rey Bartolome

Absolutely stunning views, and a peaceful yet quiet atmosphere. Had to go to a wedding here and I must say it was pleasant

Gib .

this is possibly the most beautiful, picturesque golf course that I have every played. The mountains are stunning which add to an interesting layout. That said, this course is not meant for high handicap players - if you miss the fairway, the rough will swallow your ball (and forget even trying to find it if your ball veers off the hole -the vegetation is extremely thick). What is most difficult is carrying the ravines, some of which are close to 200 yards which is beyond my capabilities. Also note the course does aerate the greens in September like many Hawaiian properties, though they were well top dressed and could be played though they were exceptionally slow with little break. A discount for the course condition should have been offered.

Curtis Bunch Jr.

Very challenging course with a beautiful layout and setting amongst the cliffs. The restaurant/bar was already closed when we got there for our 4:44pm tee time. The pro shop employees were courteous and helpful. We played 12 holes in 2 hours 15 minutes and pace for a 4 hour round not bad.

Cathy Cerda

We had booked our tee time 2 weeks in advance through GolfNow only to find that when we got there we would have to play the front 9 twice since they were punching the back 9. The Pro shop said that it was notated on their website...we checked, it wasn't. Very, very disappointing since we were on a golf vacation on Oahu.

Brett Parker

Do not under any circumstances book to play here. The course should be closed as it is totally unplayable in its current condition. If they offer to give you a game for free tell them you are being ripped off.

Kevin Vensko

The views at this course are spectacular. However the course it self is not as well kept. The course is definitely one of the most challenging golf courses I've ever played.

Jacque Shaner

Honeys, a favorite family breakfast-brunch restaurant with the most amazing views!

종민김

Very hard but nice view and people

Koonfai Young

Went for a wedding. Grounds was very nice

Jared Adams

The views were incredible. But the course is in pretty rough shape. Crab grass has pretty much invaded every fairway and the majority of the greens are worse for the wear with bald patches and crab grass creeping in. I've never seen balls get lost in the fairway before, but it happened in our group twice. I knew coming into it that the course was going to be soft but it still amazed me the sheer amount of soft turf and mud to be found from tee to green. Over all the experience was a positive one, but it's not a course I'll be playing again. There are plenty of courses in fair better shape on the island to play. I'm not taking away from the difficulty of the course here, it's incredibly tough, but it was an experience I won't soon forget play wise.

Holly Butcher

This course was on my must play list when I came to Oahu. It definitely did NOT disappoint. I expected a tough, challenging golf course and this course delivered. I loved every challenging shot. 2 things to remember, 1) Play from as far forward as you can and still have a challenge. 2) Bring PLENTY of golf balls.

Daunavan Buyer

Amazing golf course with incredible views and a creative layout. The conditions were not impeccable but I’m not sure what you could expect considering where it’s located (in the jungle on a mountainside). This is easily the most difficult course I’ve played but the pro shop worker shared with us a fun anecdote - “leave your driver and your ego in the golf cart.” Don’t come here for a perfect score, come here for a challenge and an amazing backdrop!

Alastair Torrance

Jurassic Park golf course! If you can't drive straight make sure you have a lot of balls in your bag. There are also plenty of good pickings in the rough if you are brave

Marsha Coscina

Inspiring place to worship, meet God and fellowship with other believers!

Bhanu Rekapalli

Beautiful views and amazing location, but it is not $150 course, course condition is not good. Fairways have wierd grass, greens were not in good shape either. Back 9 is cartpath only.

Drew Johnson

This course is literally cut out of the rain forest. They get over 200 inches of rain a year at this course, so expect it to be damp and for the ball not to run at all. Speaking of balls, bring plenty. Even the most seasoned golfer will lose a few balls at this course. Clubhouse told me the course record was 63...lost balls!! Amazing views and amazing course. When you don't make that great of a score, you aren't even disappointed because of the amazing location

Chad Brown

Great views, but course is in terrible shape.... greens, rough, and fairways are filled with weeds!

Brian Burri

course was in rough shape, greens were very spotty, slow, and had what i call crab grass patches throughout. fairways were also in terrible shape - patchy, crab grass. for the money i paid definitely not worth it. i basically paid $150 for views.

Greg Strohecker

Beautiful setting! Went there for dinner and had a great time. Must come back and golf at this world class course.

Zach Nichols

This course has great potential. However, in it's current state it is practically unplayable. The fairways are overgrown and the greens are beat up. The only good thing about the course is the stunning views of the ko'olau mountains. Do not waste your time or money with this course.

Vance Barrett

The only reason they are getting 2 stars if for the natural beauty of the surroundings. I doubt they even have a maintenance crew, never seen a poorer more run down course. Amazing potential but in unbelievably poor shape. Very very disappointing... I wouldn't come back if it was free... I need new shoes, the mud on the fairway and greens have permanently stained them...

Nicholas Wanke

Such an amazing place and amazing golf course! Course is a tough layout and doesn't allow for errant tee shots but it is very well cared for and the views are without equal. Only downside is I chose to golf when course was very soggy and I was slingin mud and big divots the whole round but still had a great time.

Shawna Harris

One of the most beautiful venues for a multitude of events on Oahu. The Ko'olau mountains create the most amazing back drop for photos or just relaxations

kiai kaalele

Very fun course, challenging, overall good course

david nahaku

Great golf

Marylou

Great staff, golf course itself needs tending ... crab grass growing on greens, bunkers need more sand, but scenery is top notch!!!!

Tiana Cambra

Been to a few weddings in the ballrooms. Very nice place to get married.

Samuel Bouyer

The course has great potential, it's definitely a challenging and beautiful course, but lacking maintenance of faiways and rough makes it hard to distinguish between the two. Crabgrass has taken over the fairways, maybe it's because of the constant moisture on that side of the island, but I can see how this course was at once considered a 5 star course.

Charles Bond

Good views. But the course is so muddy. Lost balls from being plugged. I'm trying to be positive. But don't expect to have a good round. Sorry :(

Kandice Kartchner

Solid food, great service and views.

Jeffrey Bahmann

Challenging golf course, beautiful layout. Would have liked to see the greens rolling a little faster. They where rolling around 5 in the meter need to be up around that 8-10 mark.

Lisa Lemma

I go here for the hike. The trailhead is near the parking lot.

Babak Nikzad

Golf course has a nice layout and very interesting holes. It's located under one of hawaai's mountains which makes the course very scenic. The green condition however is awful with weeds growing on almost all the greens. Variable speed and very bumpy means there is no chance of being able to read your putt. Add to that the fee of $160 for a round, I wouldn't recommend this course.

Michael Hallinan

Great place to hang out anf take in the view even if it is raining

Gary Hara

There are major changes to the course and all for the better. We enjoyed our round there. Scheduling a tee time was hassle free. They had a courtesy golf shuttle from the parking lot and we were treated very well at check in. This is still a difficult course but it appears a lot friendlier than I remember. If you haven't been there in over 6 months go check it out.

Nanette Nette

Went here for a wedding and reception. Beautiful service and party afterward. Food was delicious, staff was friendly and the views we breath taking!!!!

Nathan Tehada

I had a pleasant experience here with staff and service. I attended a celebration of life for a family member. Good customer service.

Warren Patrick

Great course, but can be challenging (especially if it is rainy). We had a great, sunny round on December 23, 2012. We brought enough balls to make it through the round, but didn't have a lot to spare! Very lush, tropical setting with great mountain views- every hole is spectacular! Friendly staff only adds to the experience. I highly recommend this course to locals and visitors alike.

Laura Bray

Gorgeous!!

Kevin Hamski

What great views! Nearly every hole has just amazing views of the mountain range. Tee up to the green everything was great, but the greens are struggling. Overall it's a great experience and hopefully the greens can recover quickly! Great staff and aerial views of each hole in the cart were also nice.

Bill Melcher

I was given a nice discount when I showed up because the course was in such poor condition due to mud and high grass. Of course it’s a very wet part of the island, but my last two experiences there were not pleasant.

George Buckner

nice atmosphere Great Golf Course

Andy S

Don't go. Not worth $5. No evidence of maintenance at all. Greens are rolled dirt mixed with a little grass. Doesn't look like they have mowed any grass in weeks. It's really too bad because the layout has a lot of potential. Just neglected.

Eliot Schmidt

Come for the views, stay for the golf! Incredible back drop; the course is simply stunning. And the golf is VERY challenging - precision will be rewarded. The staff was very friendly, especially compared with some of the other courses I played, and they kept apologizing for the condition of the course - 10" of rain in the past 2 weeks. But it was completely playable. All around great experience!

Frank Brzezinski

Must play lift clean and place as course is soaked. Greens are very slow and full of weeds. However that did not take away from being not only the hardest course in the USA but also the most picturesque. I look forward to it trying out.

Javan Worthy

Went here for a wedding. The scenery was majestic.

Jordan Haider

Very fun, very challenging. Usually pretty wet. If you are staying in Hawaii and are short on golf balls, play here and walk the rough, you'll find literally hundreds. Great staff.

Don Tran

Was expecting a lot better. Course was wet and muddy, and grass needs cutting, in fairways and in rough. Layout is challenging and tough, so expect a grind. GPS on carts are top notch.

Jason Cochran

Beautiful course... take plenty of balls if you are avg golfer..

Peter Rojas

beautiful view of the mountains and golf is enjoying

Ipo Cole

Serenaders playing music, good company with my hālau sisters, dancing hula and enjoying the evening!

AJ Shattuck

Fun but extremely challenging course. Not in great shape but worth playing at least once.

Marcus Franco

Good food n staff....I should say GREAT food! Awesome view while golfing....can't get any better scenery than this place on Oahu

Mary Uiagalelei

Graduation, beautiful scenery, but to many bugs.

Brad Yamamoto

Muddy, greens were slow, forced carries and cart path only on back 9. Views were nice. There are much better courses on Oahu for a better price

Mokihana Rodrigues

Food was excellent. The panoramic view simply beautiful. Would love coming back again.

tino palacio

Food was awesome! No golf that day

Tim Wheeler

The place is gorgeous. But it wasnt playable at all. Greens are in terrible shape, and are as slow as any I've ever played on. The fairways were sloppy, carts on path but the maintenance crew had been driving all over the place, leaving tracks everywhere. Hogs have just devastated several places on the course too. It really was a mess. If it were my home course it would have never been open. Expensive day to play in the mud.

marty butler

Very nice course. If you go in rainy season, be prepared to get soaked. Very wet course in the Winter. Still it's a very fun course. People are great.

Mike Wolfe

The views are magnificent, cannot be overstated. As a golf course, however, I feel like the architecture doesn't make sense for the average golfer. Par 5's are presented in such a way that if you can't carry at least 275 yards then you're relegated to hitting a trio of 200-yard shots and hopefully putting for birdie. It doesn't feel natural hitting 4-iron off the tee on a par-5, not to me anyway. The course was also unfortunately saturated, a result of existing in a rainforest, I imagine. Balls hit in the fairway or first cut often went missing because the ball would become embedded out of sight. If you weren't lucky enough to see the ball bounce, you're gonna have to take a drop. But those views.

jonathan fields

The most picturesque golf course I have ever seen. Straight out of Jurassic Park. It was hard, I think I lost 8 balls but it is one of the hardest in the US.

Allen Mills

Tough course, unbeatable views, but conditions were lackluster. Greens were not manicured and chipping/rough areas were over run with centipede grass. I would play here again but would like better conditions.

Mark Thompson

Still one of most beautiful golf courses around.

Joel Rose

This is a course of extremes, some good and some bad. On the good side, it's in Hawaii and the setting is spectacular. The proshop service and starters were extremely welcoming. I appreciate the fact that lots of thought went into the design and that natural hazards are in play. For me, the negatives overshadowed the positives. Course conditions were abysmal - embarrassing really. Fairways are unplayable with sparse grass on a muddy base. Greens were puttable. Some tee decks were totally unmaintained and were nothing more than weed patches. Pace of play was the slowest I've ever encountered - fully 6 hours for the round, and that's after playing the first four holes in about 40 minutes. Some holes are unfair because it is hard to know where the hazards are and how far it is to certain targets. I'm a 2 handicap and lost about 6 balls, some of those after what I though were good shots. At least it wasn't really expensive. I don't think I'll be back unless there's a major renovation.

Douglas Jordan

Hard. Being alot of balls.

Clint Ribble

A beautiful, very tough, course. If you're a good player, you may get frustrated. Don't. Relax! You could be at work. If you're not a good player (like me), just be prepared to lose a bunch of balls (I lost 23), and enjoy the vistas.

Chadwicke Harrison

Very beautiful

John Caudell

What a beautiful location next to the Koolau mountains. I attended there for a function that had really good food friendly service. If I play golf I'm sure enjoy the golf course it's beautiful!

Tony Zenobio

Awesome course a little wet but very difficult.

Danielle Jackson

Breathtaking views. Very nice and accomadating staff.

Doug Mohr

This is a challenging course that is beautifully placed and well maintained. This is A golfers bucket list course.

Thomas Mann

Is it from your place to have a republican convention wonderful Golf Course come and play

Wil Pattillo

Incredible would be a understatement. The views from the course are amazing. This is a MUST visit if you are in Oahu. Just make sure you bring extra balls.

Tom McMullen

Worst greens I have seen in many trips to the Islands. Mushy fairways and poor conditions in general. Beautiful to look at but abysmal to play

Darlene Wagner

Attended a two day seminar for work. Spacious ballroom. Lunch was a wonderful buffet that allowed a menu selection to accommodate the needs of all (especially me) since I have numerous food allergies. Love you so

LST Lee

Toughest course in America. Beautiful view of Koolau Mountains.

Grace Caffyn

Grass on fairways was too short given muddy ground. Looks like it needs a punch and sand treatment. Traps a real mess. No raking and some poor drainage. Course in poor shape compared to six years ago last time I played

JE Murray

Nice people and nice track but one of the worst conditions I have ever seen a golf course in (especially at the cost of the greens fees). The fairways were patchy and on many of the holes the grass was really high around the greens. The "sand" was black and hadn't been raked in quite a while. I played based on the online reviews.... but this course has not been maintained at all. Very disappointing

Edwardo Blanco

Nice people, but the worst course I have played and seen in Hawaii. I have never seen a golf course so jacked up from tee to green. The fairways were patchy and had weeds growing out of them and on many of the holes the grass was really high around the greens. The "sand traps" were black, full with water and hadn't been raked in quite a while. It has so much potential to be a great course.... but it's not been maintained at all. Very disappointing! Don't waste your money!!1

Peter Lee

It's one of my top 10 favorite course. Very challenging. Ko'olau was also one time one of the most difficult golf courses in the world according to USGA. A must play when you're traveling to Oahu. Bring a lot of balls, as festcules and cliffs tend to inhail them.

Eric Phillips

Very hard, & scenic golf course! I finally found a course I wouldn't mind playing everyday!

young jung

Challenging green, but not too bad.

Kurtis Im

Beautiful view... just breath taking. Did not play golf but attended a wedding. Staffs are very friendly but the food is just okay...

KC See

A beautiful scenic golf course, definitely among the top scenic courses in Hawaii and one of the most scenic anywhere. As a golfer, it's an awesome layout to challenge your skills. Definitely not a great course for beginners or golfers with "wild" swings. A couple holes are "long driver must" if you want to score but a lot of holes will score much better if you leave the "big dog"in the bag off the tee. Definitely a skills & Target golf course. Fairways are fairly wide but your mind plays tricks on you and everything looks so narrow hemmed in by Forest. I swear they put golf ball magnets throughout the forest. Anything past the rough and say "Aloha" to your ball. I've heard a lot of people say bring as many balls as your handicap to finish your round. Not true if you can keep your ego in check and play the course but easily true if you're a "Go For It" bomber. The major exception is the 18th finishing hole. Two forced carries over a wide ravine is a memorable way to finish. A very long tee shot is necessary to carry over the first ravine and get to the fairway. Then a decision to lay up further down the fairway to make the green or go for it over the second forced carry. Only a great tee shot will allow you to do the latter. With the Ko'olau mountain range in the backdrop, definitely memorable. I really wish I could give the course a higher rating. I love the layout but it's difficult to upkeep the whole course when it's in a rain forest and gets as much precipitation as it does. The bunkers take the brunt of this but even the fairways can get crazy muddy. This is especially true if it's been raining throughout the week before you get on. You may want to ask before you go out. On wetter outings, it's easy to plug a ball in the fairway. I've lost several drives in the middle of the fairway through the years. Drainage has gotten a little better but still has a long way to go. The greens are off & on. Some weeks their great but again, after heavy rains, they can get splotchy. I tend to book more tee times in the summer months but it is a rain forest and can get muggy. If the weather's right, I do take my out of town guests and they're normally awed by the views. That alone takes some of the sting out of our final scores. All-in-all, it's a great course at a reasonable price. Just be aware of what you're getting into before you tee off. You'll definitely have stories to tell after playing this course.

eddie sakamoto

Great golf course, but greens need work.

Enrique P. Crisostomo

The luncheon at honeys restaurant was very memorable food was great service wonderful the company was fantastic I do recommend this restaurant to anyone in the neighborhood Five Star Plus

Justin Tremblay

Beautiful but extremely hard course. Unfortunately when we went, the ground was very muddy. The grass was a bit to tall; you could loose you ball right in the fair way. BUT, the views, absolutly amazing. There is no better photo opportunity of the beautiful Hawai'i mountain range. We are golfing there later in the week, hopefully the ground drys up a bit so they can cut the grass.

Dexter Char

Nice place to have meeting, nice reastraunt and a church meeting on Sundays/golf anyone

Andrew Haley

Stunning beautiful course, but extremely difficult!!!

Dane Ganes

Honeys is where we went. It one of the windward side's best kept secret.

Andrew Knight

Beautiful course. A lil pricey but really nice pros and everything well looked after including carts and hire clubs too.

Lisa Miyamoto

It's beautiful! Good food and a gorgeous wedding venue!

Paul Ogawa

Major renovation of tree trimming around the course making it so much more playable. I don't remember how it looked like when it opened, but I would imagine these are the views that the course designers would have wanted. Greens are coming around, should be good soon.

Brian Cronin

On arrival the course did not have our booking due to a mix-up in dates with Hawaii tee times that course was unable to remedy on the day! Note to self "confirm booking the day before" The course for scenery is a must visit however the condition when we played was not good if you are wanting to be sure of this check with the course before booking winter months are an issue We had our booking problems and kudos to the General Manager for sorting this out. They have gone an extra mile to see our experience wasn't all bad and we would look to return in the autumn if ever possible.

Lorna M

Beautiful Setting For Any Special Occasion. Delicious Food And Excellent Service!

shawn cooper

They charge like it’s one of the best courses on the island. We played three courses, Royal Hawaiian, Turtle bay and this one. I reconend the other two. I would fire the grounds keepers and hire one who knows what he’s doing. Weeds everywhere including the greens and fairways. Not worth the money. Should have been a $50 round.

Happy Furtado

Choice of food could have been better...bread pudding is always excellent.

Robert K

Nice and interesting I like how they are opening it up

Gregory Kwan

Nandor Szotak

I go sometimes here foe networking events. It is a beautiful area. I think the builduing is a little bit outdated, but other then that no concerns.

Emily J. Hibsman

I was just riding along, but the course looked really raggedy. Especially for the price. Views are amazing and the staff are really friendly though.

Jeremiah Nganga

Great place

I'm giving this golf course a five for the absolute beauty of it. We were here on our honeymoon and I loved it. I don't golf, so just driving my hubs in this beauty was bonus !

You wrote a review for Ko’olau Golf Club 2 minutes ago 4.0 star rating 11/9/2017 One of my 2 favorite courses on Oahu (other is Luanna Hills now called Royal Hawaiian). Great location and layout. Weather tends to keep it slightly cooler than the sea level courses and extremely hilly. Very difficult course and you must be very accurate or you will lose a lot of balls in the tall cane grass/trees or barrancas. I agree that you should bring (at least) as many balls as your handicap. I lost 11 balls playing from the blue tees in wet conditions. I happened to play right after a big rain storm came through that evening and it was sprinkling the day I played so it was cart path only due to the course being very wet/soft and muddy in certain thin areas. Pace of play was pretty good for a weekday. Was held up by some locals and tourists who let me play through. The golf carts are electric and have plenty of power to go up the hills. The employees are service oriented and make for a pleasant round. The picture of the plugged ball in the muddy fairway is exactly what I experienced a couple times but on dry days, the course is in much better shape. Interestingly they have at least 4 different types of grass on the fairways and rough (i.e. Bermuda, Centipede, Carpet and I think some Buffalo/St. Augustine). The greens are mostly Bermuda with some patches of other types. The course has changed quite a bit in the past several decades and is much more user friendly now but still a great challenge.

Beautiful and very well maintained course. A little on the easy side which defies the slope rating on their score card which is why I don't know why they host an LPGA event here.

Played course on 7th September. I booked via Hawaii Tee Times and pro shop stated they had no notification of my requested club hire and complimentary range balls which took some sorting out. Club hire were Callaway X2 Hot BTW which were fine. As other posters have stated, course is in beautiful location and surrounds are amazing. Brutal once you get off fairway, pro shop told me number of lost balls per round normally equals your handicap. I played 12 holes and lost 5 balls so about on par for my 9 handicap. Reason why i only played 12 holes was the course was so wet. Back 9 was unplayable and I gave up after sinking in 3 inches of mud. An on course staffer told me the back 9 had received 80 more inches of rain than front 9 in the last 6 months. I raised my concerns with pro shop and was told i could play the front 9 again. I later wrote to Hawaii Tee Times who to their credit apologised and refunded me in full. I have emailed the course manager twice but have not received a reply. Probably says something about their deceptive and greedy approach. In summary 2 stars for the marvellous scenery and a couple of cracking par 3 on the front 9, but it would pay to check up on course condition and load up on balls ahead of any planned visit.

Great service and picturesque location for an island wedding or any other event

You have to take in to affect that the course has received 50 inches of rain in the last 6 weeks so they have not been able to get the mower out on the course or tend to it at all... with that said, the folks working here warn you of this before purchasing your ticket to play. With all of that, it's still worth the round; amazing views; amazing set up. Once this course gets back in shape (which hopefully it will as the back 9 is essentially unplayable right now) this is definitely one of the best courses in Hawaii. Well worth the visit; those working the course and in the clubhouse were very professional, personal and nice as well.

Take a nature hike to the likeke falls. Worlds finest

Andrew Hightower

Really fun and demanding course. There were some greens that needed some attention, but overall a great experience. Prepare to lose at least a couple of balls.

William Preston

One Tough course have to play a couple times to appreciate its uniqueness
