Great layout, but the course is in terrible condition. Fairways were unplayable in many locations. They take your money first then tell you that its cartpath only and that fairways are burt out. The course superintendent should be looking for another job. Very sad that they have let this happen. I don't think we will be back. There's many other places to play.

Just played this course 9-13-2011. I would not play this course again. I have been playing golf for over 35 years and this is one of the worse courses I have played. The best part of the day was a bloody Mary to start, a hamburger @ the turn, and finishing the course. The grounds keeper needs to be replaced. At least 4 greens had a set of tracks running through them. On one hole the cup was set between the tracks. The fairways were very thin and most of the time I had trouble finding a nice piece of grass to hit off. The grass around the green was filled with weeds and un-kept. We had one tee box where the grass was not cut and it looked like you were teeing off from the rough. We came across 3 tee boxes where after cutting them, the tee markers were not replaced. We had to do it. The cost was $94 but they gave us $20 off. This course is worth maybe $25 a round at this time. There so many bwttwe courses in Ocean City and Berlin Don’t waste your time or money.

Fairways were in terrible shape. Crabgrass in the rough and around the greens. Greens were in ok shape. Price is too high for the condition of the course. I don't recommend it.

Son and I go every Thanksgiving and have a great time. Nice layout free range balls and fair price. I wonder if they are ever going to build a permanent clubhouse.

Been traveling to OC for 20 years with the same group and always try to make it to River Run. Been a couple of years and was disappointed paying $105 for this round. Had to move the ball on some of the greens because of the shape they are in. Late in season this is expected but this course has a lot of work to do to be worth the value

This is a public course (haven’t seen that anywhere and just want to make sure people are aware it’s not private) Settled we’ll back in a very upscale housing community. Arrive early and hit a bucket of balls on the free driving range. The fairways are winding, the greens are large and quick, and the bunkers are soft and unforgiving. It’s difficult without being ridiculous and well placed shots will allow for low scores. Water everywhere so be careful of that. Nice course overall, we skipped food at the turn as it said the grille was closed. Took two of us just under 4 hours to play 18. The tee times are well spaced so we didn’t run into anyone ahead of us and had no one behind us. Definitely would recommend

Little disappointing for a Gary Player course. Not in the best of shape but I could see potential to be really nice when it's in shape. I went early in the season (late April) so that may be part of it.

Staff always pleasant..Small bar always has a smile behind it. Each hole has a different look to it. Just a fun course to play. We play 4 rounds of golf each March in Md. And 2 of them are always at River Run. If it were up to me, we would play all 4 there.

Booked as a single on Golf Now. Made to feel very unwelcome by staff from bag drop to pro shop. Was sent out on a crowded golf course as a single because they had no idea what threesome I was supposed to fill out. Picked up and went home after 4 holes.

Asked for the special advertised and nobody knew what I was talking about. Showed waitress email and she goes back and asks cook. Hr has no clue either. Then ask for the cream of crab soup on the regular menu which is crazily overpriced per cup. They don't have that either. Then waitress goes into tirade about how there is no communication and how the 14th chef this year quit because of poor working conditions and how she walked out a few days earlier. If you want good food, professional atmosphere and quality service - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. Players Club is a circus. And not in a good way.

The course has a great layout but the greens are just in really bad shape. some of the greens there was no point in putting. Looks like they are not getting sun or completely burnt out. Very spotty. Greens that were not in the woods and had direct sunlight, were in the best condition. Not worth $70+ dollars with the greens in bad condition.

Like most courses in the area, River Run is a bit distressed here and there. We still had a good time. I like the layout. For the most part, the course is lady friendly. Challenging but fair. Lunch was also good; there's a fully stocked bar. What's not to like.

I was not impressed by this course at all. It has the name of Gary Player design and it automatically made me think this must be a top tier course, but not so. First off, houses should not located parallel to any fairway, several holes have a bordering house effect lining the fairways on one side. I got a smell of some treatment plant that was lined by fences, not a pleasant smell. The Black Tee boxes were not well thought out, several were about the size of a VW Bug and looks like they were an afterthought. The service was good, guys in the shop and the starter were nice. Decent driving range with balls included. Overall, course was ok, but I think what let me down was the fact of Gary Player design and it didn't live up to the Gary Player name.

Pulled up for a nice day of golf and paid the full $85 greens fee expecting the course to be in solid condition. Course was deemed cart path only, but none of the employees informed us of that information until we were about to tee off. Balls were plugging in the fairway, bunkers weren’t kept properly, and most of the fairways had half under construction. I’ve played $15 courses in better shape. We just wished someone would’ve said something before we were about to tee off that’s very unprofessional.

Got the golf now rate to play this course early morning. The front 9 is very tight. Theirs no map on the score cards or cart GPS to give you an idea of what the hole is going to be like from the tee box. The back 9 was much more enjoyable with a lot less dropped balls. The greens and fairways were well maintained. If you're a 90-100s golfer bring an extra box or 2 of balls.

We played River Run on 5/17/13 and had a great experience. The course was in perfect shape and the staff was awesome (especially their cart girl Gina). We almost did not play there because of a couple of earlier reviews, but I am really glad we did, it was an awesome day of golf.

I love the shape, design, layout, and challenge of this course. Not too hard, yet has some nice challenging holes between the fair and easier ones. One of my favorite designs, yet timing is tough. Course was a little beat up from the season, and we would not have played there if it was full price, but rather got a discount round online (look around). Another disappointment was, that despite it being a 80°+ Sunday in September, the restaurant was closed. There was no cart girl/person and none of the vending machines on the course even worked. No where to even get a water or Gatorade, unless you wanted to use the fountain at the bath stations. I've had better experiences here so I hope this was just an off day for them.
