Terrible experience! Booke tee times a week ahead for vacation and we show up morning of to be told we are only allowed to play the back nine during to aeration of the greens. Back nine greens and fairways were horribly burned out and freshly aerated as well leaving a far substandard course to play on. Had we been informed of the grounds work ahead of time we would have played elsewhere. Also convenient of them not to mention it until after we had paid. A wasted day of golf on vacation for sure

We have been bringing a group of 12 men to play this course the past 4 Summers. Our recent experience in August was disappointing. The clubhouse was torn down which meant no food nor post round beverages. We were not told this when we booked our tee times. They have a strict policy on not bringing your own beverages into the course, however, we saw the beer girl twice during our entire round. Twice! One of our guys got fed up and went to the parking lot to get some beers. He was basically hunted down by the Marshall and some other guy and told to return them to the car. How about you get a couple beer carts out there to take care of your customers. Since we are on the Marshall subject, he followed us around like we were a bunch of children too. There were two bathrooms on the course which was an inconvenience. The tee boxes were not in good condition. We all agreed that was our last time playing this course during our vacation. We’ll take our group of 12 to another course and spend our money there.

Played Ocean Pines on July 1, 2019. Beautiful weather. I had a 3 some and we were all from out of town. The course was in great shape, and we were treated well throughout. No complaints—And I’m confident that I’ll play it again.

Jim Haus

Never told us when booking they were aerating greens, that we had to play back 9 twice, greens were in terrible shape , fairways weren’t much better . Don’t waste your money playing here like we did!! Will never play here again !!

I went on vacation with friends and booked a tee time on Saturday evening. When we got there, we were greeted fine by the guy behind the counter, after we paid and grabbed our carts, a guy named Kit asked, "are you going out like that?" I replied saying, what do you mean? He said that the 4 of you are going out with 1 set of clubs? We told him that we were on vacation and we were just looking to play a quick 9. He said, I'll let it slide this time- I'll pretend like I didn't see it. He said the neighbors will call and complain about too many people with 1 set of golf clubs. We went on to play and when bringing the carts back, a friend of mine went to thank him and put his hand out to shake his hand but he said, "nah, it's okay." My question is, for a very scenic golf course, why is Kit not very personable? As a manager of a company, I would not let my associates act that way to paying customers; never. Refuse a hand shake? Really? I'd hate to make this a color thing but I think it is. Maybe if I was a 33 year old white guy he'd shake hands. Nice place but I won't spend my money there again. Have a talk with your associate, he needs it but remember, you can't train attitude.

Course was in solid shape, but will never go back again because of the head pro. We have been coming to ocean pines for 25 years and playing golf. This year we decided to do our family tournament at ocean pines. The weather was awful but we still tried to get it in. The course was completely empty and we probably gave them $800 worth of business total. We got pulled off the course after 12 because of the rain and asked if we could come back first thing in the morning to finish and the pro said no and also that we would have to pay again - no voucher. After all the years of coming down and all of the money we have spent here they wouldn't even let us finish...it was ridiculous. The rest of the staff was great, but the pro was completely unprofessional...we will never go back.

Played here on June 7th. Course was in good condition and a decent track for most levels of player. Would have been 4-5 star however the clubhouse / restaurant has been knocked down. You have to check in inside a 53 foot trailer. None of this was made known even though I spoke to the shop twice on the phone over a month in advance. We were looking for lunch before the round and some beverages overlooking the lake post round but that wasn’t possible. No negotiation for a discount of $5 for the round was entertained although I explained 10 golfers traveled 3 hours to play the course and enjoy the amenities. Also of note, the beverage cart service was abysmal!!! They came around once during our round despite 10 thirsty men. Poor business decision. Hot dogs were not ready or cooked before, during or after round. Easily cost the course hundreds of $’s in lost alcohol sales. Just be up front about the current state of the property !

Adam Connelly

Solid course down at the beach. Found a great price for a round after 12 and course wasn’t packed so it allowed for a relaxed round. Only drawback was dropping bags off at the carts then not being able to drive carts to driving range (which wasn’t far away) but would have been nice to travel around in cart. Some challenging holes with bunkers around the greens and some quality par 3s to help you lower your score.

Jason Davidson

Course is beautifully maintained. Staff is friendly and helpful. Definitely would come back

Ron B

What a disappointment after playing a great course like Eagles Landing. No GPS, no map on card, no yardage other than red, white, blue on cart. Greens are probably the worst greens I've played on in a long time. Would not recommend or play again.

A nice course which is ruined by the angry and unprofessional Marshall. There was a minor and certainly unfortunate incident that occurred during the first part of our game where one of the plastic markers was accidentally struck. The Marshall and his coworker came in full force and in a shockingly threatening manner started screaming at us. He didn't give me the opportunity to explain what had actuallly occurred. Instead, he kept repeating “admit you did it!” Of course, if he hadn’t lost control of himself, he would’ve realized I had already done so. Ultimately however, he was unprofessional, exceedingly disrespectful and tried to intimidate and ridicule me by saying "Which one of you is blind? I can't imagine an adult doing this." Unfortunately, not only was their behavior shocking, but it affected the rest of our game play and put a dark cloud over the rest of the day on the course. An unfortunate incident turned into an ugly and very troubling experience. Simply put: unacceptable ....

Do not waste your money at this golf course. The gentleman inside the trailer was absolutely rude and didn’t try to accommodate. I was staying in Fenwick Island on vacation so I decided to schedule a tee time for 4 players. I had my son in law and two godsons. We were properly attired wearing collared Nike golf shirts and dress shorts. Unfortunately we only had one set of clubs Because we were visiting the area on vacation and they did not bring theirs. The gentleman immediately stated, “everyone needs to have their own “bag”. I explained our situation and his reply was, “This is a real clubhouse, you know a real golf course. You have to be properly attired”. The man spoke to me as if I was an idiot and didn’t know what a clubhouse was and or golf course. Absolutely made me feel like a nobody. The man never offered to rent us a set of clubs or anything. He pretty much dismissed us. Upon leaving there, We called Great Hope Golf course and I explained our situation. The man immediately told me that they would accommodate us with a set of clubs and he scheduled a tee time. We had a blast at Great Hope Golf. DO NOT SCHEDULE ANYTHING AT OCEAN PINES. They treat people like garbage. I hope ocean pines management reads this. Thank you

Another badly manged course Marshall must not be able to speak foursome in front of us over a hole behind nothing changes.Over four hours for fifteen holes. Will never return.

Very nice in addition to the rentals. Everything is well manicured especially the grounds. The community of people are very friendly and inclusive. The customer service is great. There is a country club but I haven't tried any of the food. Beautiful backdrops for Wedding pics. This is one of my all time favorite places to be. I still haven't ventured out on the course yet. Very relaxing vibe though.

Kevin Dougherty

Very nice!

Horrible shape. Had not rained in over 24 hours and was told after we paid and got to the first tee box we were told cart path only. Would of been better to us a pull cart. $85 to walk sucks for my 65 year old dad. Also there under construction and no clear signage telling you were to drop your bags ended up carrying out bags along the street.

Mike Tobin

Great shape and enjoyable to play.

Sean Gilligan

Club house is being torn down and operation is out of a trailer. Stacking flights very close and the Marshall treats you like you are juvenile sitting on the tee box telling you to hurry. I had golfed there 1/2 dozen times before today and it was much more professional back then. If the cart person doesn't make money it's because of the Marshall. I was Disappointed and rushed.

A group of 8 of us played the course, Friday and Saturday. We were disappointed with the experience. A) The bar staff was overwhelmed and shorthanded. B) No cans of Budweiser are available to purchase on or for the course. Bud bottles are available at the clubhouse, but no cans? C) The clubhouse and the course beverage carts had no Bud Light for Saturday? How is that possible? D) The lack of course restrooms needs to be addressed. E) The round Saturday was roughly 5.5 hours. My group waited at every hole. The list could go on. Again we were disappointed. Immediate improvement is needed.

Gary Britt

We are staying in ocean pines this week and were so impressed by the hospitality and professionalism we experienced on our first outing. We played 4 holes and it started to thunder and lightening and they gave us a rain check for the next day. I am glad we returned because this is by far the best manicured course we have ever played in both Maryland and in Pennsylvania. The fairways are like carpet with perfectly cut rough just off the fairway. The greens are difficult but fair because the ball rolls so true to the line. I was so impressed that we decided not to play other courses in the area and return to Ocean Pines. It is a of the caliber of a professional-grade and exclusive private club with public access and prices that are more than fair, including the great food at the Tern Grille. Even the T-boxes are level! Loved this course and we will be back!!!

Golfed two other times this week at Eagles Landing and Ocean Resorts Golf Club and had experiences. Ocean Pines was in terrible condition once again. Thought we would give it another chance this year but the greens were terrible, bunkers were not maintained, debris on the fairways and overall a great disappointment. Will not be playing here again until they get their act together.

I believe Ocean Pines Golf Club has one of the best, if not the best, layout of any course in the area. It is challenging but fair. The greens and fairways are in great shape and the rough is thick. It's tree lined which makes it tougher if you hook or slice, but at least there's shade to escape the hot sun.

Shane Richardson

I played this course today with a few friends. Tee time was noon. It was 2:56 at the turn. The marshal was missing in action after the 6th hole. The entire round played at 5 hrs and 45 minutes. After the round I spoke to John, he's the guy in charge. I voiced my opinion and he apologized. The course was in okay condition but pushing a 6hr round is absolutely ridiculous. If your thinking about playing here choose a different course. It's not worth the frustration.

In the Autumn of 2016, a reviewer somehow rated this course a 1-star. Either he shot a 140 or their review was clearly disingenuous. It is impossible that the course I played yesterday could've been a true 1-star experience. Playing mainly in the Williamsburg, VA area, my reference courses are very highly rated. From that perspective I submit the following review of Ocean Pines: Course Layout: A+ RTJ clearly earned his high ratings as one of America's top course architects. In 1972, the hole routings must have been so much harder with persimmon woods and balata balls. Today's distance and accuracy equipment give us an almost unfair advantage. Long Par 3's and reachable Par 5's made us really appreciate our hybrids here. Several holes run along the canals providing a resort feel to the tract. Course Conditions: A- Some of the BEST teeboxes in the mid-Atlantic... Flat, lush, trimmed and with lovely little pine cones demarking your teeing distances. We played from the tips. Range and range balls were well above-average at their $7 price point. Greens, bunkers and fairways were as good as any public upscale in central Virginia. ............ While all Par 4/5's except Hole#3 had clear 150yd posts, we found NO sprinkler yardages nor even 200/100 stakes. Not cool. 2 ponds were rather scummy along their edges with paper trash, algae and no active fountains. The difficult 203-yard signature Par 3 over water had no discernable drop area. No sign nor paint circle that we could see. Staff: C+ Pro Shop staff were very cordial and welcoming. And the Pro let my elderly father ride along with me for a discounted cart fee.. Very nice. Beverage Cart girl was super helpful and very pleasant! ................ But.. 4 Groundskeepers made ZERO effort on #2 to minimize their distraction during our difficult 210 yard approach shots to an elevated green. Tractor left idling, talking about their precious clipboard and shuffling their important papers were absolutely unforgiveable @ our $50 greens fee on a Wednesday. Cartmeister/Starter provided us neither a "Welcome, have you played with us before?" nor a "Pin position is x and greens are stimped around 9.5 today". A Marshal on a Wednesday afternoon is not expected but there has to be SOME way to allow faster players a chance to move ahead. Front 9 took us just 110 minutes but after 2 hours on the inward loop, we were only on #14. A self-policing signpost every 3rd hole REQUIRING slower players to kindly yield after their approach shots on longer holes is all it takes. Overall, we felt that if OP can correct these few mostly human-error issues listed above, this course would rival Glen Riddle and even Bayside for Quality/Experience vs Cost.

Brad Bruce

very disappointed was not let out on the cource with a nike golf shirt that had no collar

Excellent place for a round of golf. The layout is exquisite. Greens are nothing to sneeze at. Bunkers are well maintained. Meaning, if you don't mind bunker play time to time. You will like the challenge of these bunkers.

brian briggs

I would like to give it a higher review but the following occurred today: Just a concern that I would like to share with my friends. I can tell you with 100% certainty that I will never, ever go back to Ocean Pines Golf Club and I would highly recommend that none of you go either. I won 2 gift cards several years ago that gave me 2 rounds of golf with cart for Ocean Pines Golf Club. There was no mention anywhere on the cards or the envelope that it came in that there was any expiration dates on them. Today I took a friend to go play the course and the assistant pro said "wow, those are old, let me see if they still work." He tried to run the cards and said that it wouldn't take the cards but that he could charge me now and then check with his pro to get the charges reversed after he spoke with him. I was charged $130. In retrospect I should have just said "no thanks" and found another course to play but I never in my wildest dreams think that I wouldn't get my charges reversed. I just got off the phone with the head pro who told me that the gift cards were too old and that my charges wouldn't be reversed. I tried to explain that there was no mention of any expiration date and thought he would be level headed in a service industry, especially one where we also purchased food and drinks from the snack bar and beverage cart girl. Some of you may agree with him, but I do not. For all I know the head pro might be a great guy but they have forever lost my business and for all of my friends who play gold I can assure you that there are plenty of other good golf courses to play and ones that have better customer service than Ocean Pines Golf Club. Just wanted to share my experience with my Facebook friends and community. Have a great day and feel free to ask me where to play golf in the area.. there are plenty of great ones.

I had the privilege of playing golf at your course on Saturday and Sunday June 22-23 with Mark Watts and a few of the members of the Ocean Pines Golf club. I had an amazing time. The course was spectacular, every member was so friendly and welcomed me with a handshake! The employees greeted me with a smile! I get the same experience every time I play there.

Leonard Kielbasa

If I could give a negative rating to this course I would without reservation. Besides the course being in awful condition for what they charge, if you like putting on crab grass greens, seriously, this is your place to play. The bigger reason for the negative score is that their ENTIRE staff discriminates against handicap individuals. I guess if you are handicap you are not worthy enough to play here. Our group of 4 was forced off today by the marshall because of one of our guests being handicapped, ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. A travesty in my opinion and when offered a rain check, I laughed and said keep it I WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE AGAIN. If you enjoy playing golf at a nice course and being treated without prejudice check out some of the other amazing courses in the area, Lighthouse Sound and Beartrap Dunes to name a couple, who also accomodated our handicap guest with open arms and literally dedicated a ranger to chauffeuring him around to make sure that he and all of their guests had a great time. Not too mention these courses and facilities are top notch all the way around and conditions are immaculate. I just hope we can get a refund of our money through our booking agent as I would and will not ever support this place and their discriminatory actions. Shame on you Ocean Pines! In response to your reply the other courses in the area had the same 5 inches of rain and we played there, Lighthouse Sound (it's on the bay for Christ sake) only a few hours after that rain fell. They were able to not only accomodate us, but had a ranger personally chauffeur our guest, so he could enjoy his round as much as any other guest. Again you guys discriminated against a handicap guest and made him feel uninvited at your course. We will continue to play golf in Ocean City, but never again at Ocean Pines, especially with the superior quality of courses in your area. In addition your course is a dump. I prefer to not putt my ball on a line that contains CRAB GRASS!! I'd advise others to take their time, energy and money elsewhere to make sure they are not the next guests to be discriminated upon and to have a quality course to play with the other great options in your area. Nice attempt to make excuses for your actions, you biggots.

Robert Bruchey

The golf course play is fine. The issue is the last time I played there the starter said it was cart path only. Which is fine, however not jokingly said “If you go off the cart path we’ll throw you out of here.” So on vacation a year later it’s the same starter with the same poor attitude. We had ten min before the tee time. My playing partner and I wanted to hit some golf balls before. His exact words were “I’ll allow it.” The beverage cart lady was just as unfriendly. I felt unappreciated and there are plenty of other places in Ocean City to golf. If I come back I hope they have a new starter and beverage cart lady. Tee time was 7:36 on 7/19/2019.

Usually a good experience but the course was in bad shape and we were forced to play the front 2x due to unannounced aeration on the back. No food.

Lee Black

Enjoyed the course. Greens were extremely slow and in a few cases in rough condition. The layout is what one would expect from a RTJ, Sr. Course (excellent). Staff was very cordial. There was no marshal and a twosome kept our foursome waiting the entire back nine. Courteous players would have encouraged us to play though with no one in front of them the entire nine. Great value.

Shannon F.

Overall unimpressed.- the yeardsales were great!

Fun outdoor seating area, can't beat the sunsets while they play the 1812 overture. The food is okay and the band and dj make for a good night.

Complete Trash....This course discriminates against handicap guests to a sicking level. We were basically forced off the course because we had a disabled golfer with us and had to leave after 4 holes. As if that wasn't enough the conditions were absolutely garbage. The greens were covered in weeds and crab grass and you could tell the course isn't maintained at all. Hopefully they can survive with just there members because I couldn't imagine anyone spending money to play this dump when there so many beautiful and Accommodating courses a stones throw away in any direction. Check out the links at lighthouse or bear trap if you wanna play a great track with friendly staff who aren't biggits. We will be discussing legal action with are lawyer and hopefully can save another handicapped golfer for having to suffer through something so gross. Luckily we played 3 great courses before here that went out of there way too accommodate are special needs to the point of a ranger driving the guest for 27 holes each day. They obviously know that the pga and usga promote handicap veterans and special needs individuals to take up the game.

Michael Blum

I did not have a bad experience, but this course needs some work. It is a very good layout, but many of the fairways, although playable, are not in great shape. The teeboxes are adequate, the greens are in good shape, but there is not much to them. Ocean City has many other golf alternatives, so this course needs to step it up to remain relevant.
