Played front nine yesterday afternoon. Guy working the pro shop (younger guy with long hair) is always nice and never gets upset. Carts were clean and in good shape. Driving range is grass which is nice. Decent practice area for putting and chipping as well. Tee boxes and fairways mostly good with normal wear and tear from the season. Greens are in AWESOME shape, and roll fast and true. Rough had been recently trimmed and was mostly soft. Bunkers were in excellent conditions; soft with no water at all. Pace of play was good for the most part, felt a little rushed as more people showed up. I think it may have been some groups or a league, so I understand why they wanted to play faster. One guy by himself was being really awful and obnoxious, but it's not fair to hold that against the club. Layout can be a little confusing for a first timer here. Holes were more challenging than I expected. The course is a bit short, but they make up for that with tough pin placement, narrow fairways, hidden bunkers, and fast greens. Overall, I had a great time. The course is good for beginners and casuals because there aren't many places to lose your ball on a miss hit. More advanced golfers will appreciate the conditions, on the greens especially, as well as tricky pin placement. I would say for the price, a round of golf here is a steal. I'll be back for sure, and I am even considering a membership next season I was so impressed!

All in all a good public course. Course was in good shape for early April. Course is on the shorter side but uses the layout to add some distance. Will be back.

I just played here yesterday and I have to say it was in beautiful shape! The fairways were lush and the greens were immaculate. Much improved over the last couple years. It's the best deal and round of golf in North Wilmington for me. I love playing here and will continue to recommended it as a great course to play.

Terrific wedding reception! Some guests said it was the BEST wedding dinner they had ever had! Rob, the general manager was a joy to work with and helped with details and questions.Rob had the golf carts ready when we arrived to use for pictures and even watched to weather reports as a storm was approaching. Called back readily whenever called. The room was beautiful, the deck was nice with guests enjoying the outdoors and a nice view. Rob was attentive to details and helped make the reception everything we had wanted. No disappointments at all!

45 minutes late teeing off! Bar service terrible! Only one person working with a full lunch crowd, 20 minutes to get a beer! Barmaid busy running credit cards! As much money that's coming in here, there's no reason why there shouldn't be 2 bartenders!

Course was in decent shape, but the pace of play was SLOW. No rangers keeping groups on Pace, and they don't do a great job of utilizing both nines to send people out.

after hearing some positive things about the ed "porky" oliver golf course, i decided to check it out. i should have known that the 6 group logjam on the first tee, with a starter nowhere to be found, was a bad sign. a groundskeeper ran over my ball with a mower on the 3rd hole. a bulldozer drove across the green on my approach shot on the 7th. another groundskeeper mowed casually around the green on the par 3 9th as i waited impatiently to tee off. the bunkers on 12 and 13 were filled with dirt, not sand, and promptly turned to mud pits with some brief light rain. there were no rangers. there were no drink girls. there was ONE set of water coolers for the entire course. i don't show up at a public course expecting augusta, but this place really fell short. the course layout is also strange. it's a par 69 with only one official par 5, but several par 4s that approach 450 yards. do yourself a favor: for the same amount of money, you can play the nicer delcastle golf course instead (quizzically owned by the same management group.)

For being the middle of spring, the course is in pretty good shape all around. I've played this course quite a few times now and it seems like the course and renovations are getting better every time. A real enjoyable course to play. There is a range to warm up before hand. Plenty of elevation changes as well as dog legs.

It's a shame the City doesn't take more pride in these facilities. The maintenance on the course is deplorable, the worst I've played...ever. The head of maintenance has no clue what's he doing. Rotortill the hard bald spots, seed and rope off , cut the grass so the tees can be distinguished from the rough, not a difficult job, just need to take pride in your job. The course has a lot of potential as the oldest course in Delaware and marketed as such.

Nice course well maintained. Course can get dry and hard during the summer. But plenty of rain lately so it's green and nice right now.

Very bad, the course is undergoing repairs but it is in really rough shape. Paid 35 to play here but it is a $20 course max. No sand in the bunkers, tee boxes are hard as rocks and the pace of play was brutal.

This corse has some challenges, good, bad and just plain poor. BUT it is definitely in part to water, they are building a reservoir on site to help maintain the beat up fairways, don't get me wrong they have other things they need to work but the fairways are in poor shape. I have to give them credit for at least trying to bring the corse back from hell,. Golf cart paths need help to...

The guy in the pro shop was awesome but overall this place is overpriced for what you get. It is in bad shape and not maintained very well. Food and drinks are overpriced as well.

I've played almost all of the public courses in northern Delaware and this by far is the bottom of the list. Greens are bumpy and rutted hole numbers are cheaply marked with a 4x4 and house number. Nothing to see here, be back in mid January for a lower rate.

It's a great place to go if you like to golf. This place is also great for parties and weddings. I had my wedding here and the staff was wonderful. I would also like to thank Jessica for helping us out with all the wedding planning and even the wedding it's self. She was always there for us when we needed her. I would definitely recommend this place as it has a nice view of grass and land. It also has a little lake which was great for pics and a chimney.

I am sure some people enjoy this course because of its convince and price but there are better ones in Delaware to play. The staff were friendly and helpful but the course is not in very good shape. Greens were bad and need a lot of work. The course layout is easy but a Little strange and dangerous. One tee box being right behind one green. Our foursome will not play this course again because their are better options.

Went for a wedding and was not impressed. They were late starting the reception, a mouse ran out of the kitchen, they wouldn't turn the AC up, took the silverware for the cake and then rushed us out. For what they charged you'd think they'd have better service!

Very nice place for a wedding. Loved the idea of the bridal party driving up in golf carts. Friendly staff. But been there 3 times in the past year for 3 different functions n every time they ran out of cold beer. When they run out of a certain brand, they bring the beer up hot n a 6 pack at a time. It doesnt get cold enough for next round. Would suggest that if you are having a function there make sure you ask for cold drinks. Think they would at least refrigerate the brands most requested.....

I have had a graduation party there as well as a couple commitment ceremony. I found the food and the service to be very good and certainly working within any budget range. I would highly recommend hosting an event there.

I had my wedding at Ed Oliver Golf Club on April 29, 2017. The night before the wedding we had our Rehearsal Dinner and noticed that the banquet room was very warm. The thermostat was reflecting 80 degrees. We notified management and they ensured us that they had just turned the A/C on and it would be cool by the actual wedding. Needless to say, the A/C was broken and it ended up being of 90 degrees INSIDE during our wedding reception. Ed Oliver Golf Management had no backup plan, fans, portable A/Cs, etc. The majority of our guest left after dinner because the conditions were unbearable. After the wedding, we addressed our concerns again and we were offered 2 free golf passes. Our experience was absolutely terrible. I would never recommend anyone having their special event at this Golf Club. They are very unprofessional and have no resiliency plans in place.
