Partner and I played the course today. FOr a public course, very well maintained. Plethora of sand traps but fairways wide enough to avoid many bunkers. The negatives: management needs to be improved. Made online reservation with credit card. Called two days ago to cancel one player and had no record of my reservation, even though I received an e-mail confirming the reservation. Person wrote me in for 10:26 am. We arrived five minutes before tee time because of poor signage, difficult to find. When we arrived at the desk, person said there was no record of my reservation. They squeezed us in between groups of four and it took more than five hours to play. Despite this ineptness, I'll return because course was really nice.

Make sure you call before you head in. These guys will over book any chance they get. As they were telling folks they're out of golf carts, they were booking golfers that were walking in. Just played 9 holes and it took 3 hours. Decent course, just mis-managed. From the pro shop to the Ranger.

Here to review the Grille - Can't speak for the course but it appears to be well taken care of. Best burgers in town are here for sure. All of the food I've ever tried here has been great. Service is usually good and great views. Make a reservation if you can, it gets crowded. It does get very loud inside and there are plenty of creepy drunk golfers to go around (depending on when you go). The live music is good. Just be aware of when/why you are going there. For a night out with friends its great. For a date night or if you are out with young children, not so great due to noise level. If you time it right you will be fine either way. I was not a fan of how they sold me on the dining club membership and then changed the parameters a few weeks later to be more restrictive with less discounts. In my opinion the membership is no longer worth it. I would recommend the Grille to anyone and still go back periodically.

Quiet retreat from nearby Middletown sprawl. Friendly staff and reasonable rates. Excellent food and service in the charmingly rustic bar and grill. General public is always welcome here.

My first (and last) dining experience here was miserable. I kept asking the server to notify a manager that I was not comfortable because a large vent, blowing cold air, was directly under my chair and I could also feel the breeze from one under the chair to the left of me. Others at the table felt the cold breeze and we all placed menus under the chairs, over the vents, but this did not help. After many requests asking management to rectify the situation a woman came over and placed a pile of linen napkins on the floor and said that should work. I told her it was not working and I kept asking her to put her hand under my chair and feel the high flowing, cool breeze. Needless to say, none of the staff cared enough to either turn the blower down or turn our table in another direction where no diner's chair would sit directlty over an air vent. They more or less acted like I was bothering THEM when THEY were the ones making me feel cold and uncomfortable and ruining my dining experience. We also observed food preparers on the deck not wearing gloves and placing cooking tools in the their back pockets which seemed very unsanitary. I sure hope they washed the pile of linen napkins that they tossed on the floor to cover the vents. Just sayin!

Went here for lunch with my brother and found out how delicious the food is. I had the mac and cheese bbq brisket and it was wonderful! The beef was melt in your mouth and the mac and cheese had a great flavor. Definitely want to go back to try the cheeseburgers. They looked delicious.

We held a private outing and dinner at this course. The entire staff from the Golf Pro to the waiters/waitresses were very courteous and appreciative. Our outing guests enjoyed the experience. Dinner buffet was very good.

I play this course two or three times a month and it is always in excellent shape. The staff is friendly. This is a family friendly club that offers a variety...social, golfing and eating. The golf is the best part though. Update...: I enjoy this club experience to the point that I have joined as a member!

This is a wonderful golf course, playable for all skill levels. There are 5 different tees from which you may play with the shortest tee selection playing 4918 yards while the longest plays 7113 yards. The beautiful links-style course is easy to get to, the prices are very reasonable, the course is in great shape and the staff is very friendly. The fairways are generous, the rough is playable and, on most holes, the fescue seems to be decorative for all but the most errant of shots. The course is well bunkered so shot planning is advised. I mentioned the staff being friendly. When playing here last, I had a brain freeze and took my cart to an area on the course that was off limits to carts. The ranger came over to me and very politely instructed me on the course rules that applied, in this instance. I apologized and thanked him for the information. I was very grateful for his merciful approach. When you finish your round, there is a terrific bar and restaurant at this facility. The bar is well stocked and the food is excellent. They have a lunch and a dinner menu. The last time I was here, I had one of the best burgers ever, cooked to perfection. If you are looking to play golf on an excellent course, come here to play. If you are looking for some good eats, you can come here for that also. Here, you can have the best of both worlds, as I did on my last visit. Give this course and restaurant a try. I'm sure you will be glad that you did.

Almost always in perfect shape. Greens are FANTASTIC! Nice rustic layout. Even though this course wraps through some nice middle class neighborhoods, the homes aren't ever on top of you. If you make it to Middletown, this is a must play.

The course was in good shape and paying $50 for a round of golf with lunch was a bargin on Labor Day. The lunch was great not a little hot dog like most places offer.

Good food and good service, IF you eat in. The two times I placed to-go orders, by phone, it still took over 30 minutes to get the food. The second time I did it, it was pretty obvious that they didn't enter the order until AFTER I got there and had paid for the order. I'll never order to-go again.

My son made the reservations and I had never been to this restaurant. What a pleasant experience. The waiter handled 24 guests (including 5 young children) with ease. He was engaging and attentive. The buffet choices were wide ranging from breakfast foods (including made to order omelets and the most delicious waffles) to lunch foods. It was certainly one of the most memorable Mother's Day experiences for me.

Very nice golf course but The Grille at Back Creek is an excellent restaurant - for both lunch and dinner! Entire restaurant staff is always very helpful and attentive, and the food is always delicious. One of my favorites is the BBQ Mac & Cheese - either to share as an appetizer, or as your meal. Their chef continues to add different - and delicious - items to the menu. Can't wait to return...

What a fantastic experience we had this Mother's Day! The food was excellent and the staff attended to our every need. We were a large group (24, including 5 children) and they handled us with ease. Not an empty glass all afternoon! Nice location and a beautiful view. We will certainly be back for our next family event. Thank you to everyone at Back Creek!

I didn't see an option to review Back Creek Grill - the restaurant. I assume that this Google Place Page is for both the golf course and the restaurant. I have heard of inconsistency here but I haven't really experienced it. The Prime Rib special night is good, I like the grilled veggies and the cedar plank salmon. We had shrimp lejune recently which was very very good. The atmosphere is great, the staff is nice, the cook is really picky and doesn't let you make "changes". If I could change that, I'd like to customize the order more.

My husband and I had a $20 coupon we received for Christmas through the Dover Post. We went for a nice Sunday lunch. I ordered the Sesame Ahi Tuna appetizer as well as the French Onion and Mushroom Soup. The Ahi Tuna appetizer was definitely enough for an entree. (I took majority of it home)It was delicious as well as the seaweed salad that came with it. The French Onion Mushroom soup was also tasty. My husband has the "Not your typical Reuben". The corn beef was sliced very thick, was was a nice change for your usual Reuben. The sour kraut was a little spicy, but very good. The food was great, worth the ride to Middletown. The only downside was our waitress wasn't too attentive. My husband asked for ketchup for his fries(which said they were vinegar fries, and were not) she never got him the ketchup, I had to get up and get some off another table. She never asked if I needed a refill and walked passed us a couple of times before my husband had to ask for boxes and the bill. She sounded sick, so maybe she wasn't on her game, which is understandable. Also there was an football game on and some of the patrons at the bar were loud. I would come back and would recommend to others.

Amazing greens, pace of play, staff on the golf side and staff on the restaurant side. Can't believe this is a golf course restaurant, but totally understand why they were rated Best Golf Course and Best Restaurant! Go for the crab cakes, hand made burgers, weekend specials and for the view! I had my wedding here too and service and food was stellar from beginning to end! Frank and his partners who took over in 2015 have done a great job. Really took this place from a 1 to a 10!
