Visited from Austin, Texas and couldn't of had a better experience. Incredible golf course. Extremely friendly staff who let me work in the clubhouse before my tee time. Don't have one bad thing to say about this place. Felt like Augusta in New York. Challenging course that rewards good shots and penalizes bad shots. Tricky greens that had me praying for a two putt every time I was on. I'll be back!

Tyler Deane

It is simply the best public golf course I have ever seen or played. The greens are like putting in your bath tub and the fairways are like carpet. I felt guilty taking divots. It is gold heaven.

Pound Ridge Golf Club is firmly and wholly located on the New York side, in the upmarket and prestigious county of Westchester. Other revered names in golf, such as Westchester Country Club, Winged Foot, Quaker Ridge and Hudson National are also to be found in Westchester County. But Pound Ridge, which in terms of drama and design stands alongside those other illustrious names, is the only one of the five you can play without knowing a member.

This is an exceptional golf course. Very unusual in the NY metro region, in particular, to find a course of this quality that is public. In addition to the conditioning and maintenance, which are to high standard, the Pete Dye layout adapts well to players of different skills. Use the tees that you should, based on handicap, and avoiding ego, and this course is a great time. If it is golf you are seeking, rather than a clubhouse (still a temporary facility -- albeit a very nice one), this is hard to beat around NYC. And, the staff was very friendly and helpful. A great outing. Have returned multiple times and plan to do so many more.

Love it. Nice layout, good conditions! some holes are very challenging & require carry distance. Better follow the suggestion for the tee.

Awesome but challenging course. Bring lots of balls and when in doubt, aim for the hole. Pete loves to have fun with his players but he also gives you safety areas to bail out, if you look close enough. Staff inside and out are great and the blackened fish sandwich and breakfast egg sandwich are both in leagues of their own. While most people ride carts, the course is walkable, which gives a totally different experience. Enjoy and hit ‘em straight.

Great course but "GM" is rude and needs to go back to management school.

A real hidden gem of a track.

Typical Pete Dye golf course. The landing areas narrow as you get closer to the hole, there aren't many even lies, and there are hazards in the middle of the fairway at times. But the views are incredible. Just a stunning course visually. Lots of picturesque holes. But as I have come to expect from Pete Dye most of the visual stimuli were man-made. I didn't play the tips as the slope was a 150. I haven't seen a course with a rating like that in a long time. But it makes sense because you could hit the middle of a fairway and either be in a hazard or have an awkward lie. And everyone who has mentioned it is right, the driving range is a joke. It's short and they use limited flight golf balls. It's just sad really. The putting green is a little small too. But the chipping/bunker area was great. Overall one of the toughest and most beautiful courses I have played but not at all worth what they charge here.

Pat Bruno

Great but not the best.

Nicholas D. Hooyman

Beautiful course. Todd, the pro in the clubhouse, was very friendly and helpful. I'll definitely be back

Jason Griggs

Beautiful golf course. A must play. Spectacular shape and great layout. The course offers everything a golfer could want. Challenging, rewarding, and just an absolute joy to play.

Kit Dobyns

I can only the echo the sentiments of many-- this course is one of the absolute finest I have ever played. The maintenance of the fairways is world-class. Further, the course is quite challenging and the hole placements also force me to improve my game in a new way each round I play. I found the staff to be courteous and helpful, often going out of their way to explain hole placements, tips, follow-up advice, etc. What I love most, however, is the relaxed atmosphere. Just a short drive from the city, Pound Ridge offers a peaceful setting in which one can come and enjoy a challenging game of golf for a reasonable cost, considering the many amenities. Anytime I have the opportunity, I will return here to play a round. I am incredibly excited to have discovered this gem. In closing, the post-round meal at the cafe only further reinforced my satisfaction with Pound Ridge.

Amazing golf course. Pricey though!

The course is built on a beautiful setting, has a very friendly and helpful staff. Pound Ridge never fails to disappoint. After your first round you most likely will wonder how you scored so high. It takes a couple of rounds to understand the best landing zones and the green complexes. It's a far cry from the usual NY public courses due to it's length. Choosing the right tee box is a must, as it is definitely a shot makers course and teeing off from the correct handicap (tee boxes are assigned by handicap and is worth sticking to) means you'll lose less balls. Once you've learnt the nuances of the track, it becomes very enjoyable. The final stretch of holes are monsters, especially when it's windy. Pace of play is usually very good, which keeps me coming back.

Challenging track, and it was in great shape, will play again. Excellent driving range and practice area. The only reason i gave this a a 4 was for the price, i was very disappointed that the clubhouse was closed when I finished my round at 6:30pm on a Saturday. Would have liked to have a beer. The staff was lazy and never re-filled the water stations on the course.

Jeff Keller

Challenging but not ridiculous the way some Pete dye courses can be. Course in great shape, and we got around in 3 and 1/2 hours Great experience!

Max Fletcher

Played an early morning round last week with some friends, and I must say this is a fantastic course! The course is beautifully maintained, the greens are fast and true, and above all, the staff was amazing. Can't wait to get back out again soon!

Todd Leavenworth, general manager, turned a good day into a awful day. He should be fired. At the end of our round we asked to change a $50 into tip money for his staff. His initial comment was “you going to go to the bank for me tomorrow”. Afterwards made it sound like a big effort to locate the bartender for us - we had hoped to enjoy some cinco de mayo cocktails watching golfers finish up. When we asked why he was being rude and not trying to be helpful, he announced “you guys are out of here!” We asked him if his name was “Todd” having read the reviews before arriving to the house and when he said yes, we just responded “that makes sense.” We asked several staff on the way out why was he such a jerk and is he always like that. The comments back were all negative. Why Ken Wang allows him to represent his course is a mystery!!! We would have looked forward to playing the course again but not after that encounter. The course of itself was challenging and fun. Lots of water and narrow fairways. Feels like it’s played hard given the divets and perhaps some unresponsible guests but it was a fun afternoon.... until we met Todd.

The weather was awful but the golf course was amazing. Nice people, great layout, beautiful golf holes.

Played here for IPSS team outing.

Nice course but the staff was very rude. Shouldn’t treat customers the way they do especially at such a high price. Wouldn’t go back while it’s under its current management.

Ken Stenger

Great course, a very beautiful and challenging track. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the short range and overall price of the round.

Played with my brothers, we enjoyed it greatly. Beautiful course with a lot of topography, and it's fun to play the ground--not enough American courses do that. Love the green complex on #16. Bring your A game, because it's a tough one!

I have played probably over 1000 different golf courses over the past 50 years and without a doubt my favorite. WELL worth the extra money for greens fees. A must play. Staff is great and friendly. Course is MAGNIFICENT and well designed. 10 stars for sure again well worth the money..

Beautiful course! Friendly staff---went above and beyond to make our round pleasant!

First of all, we drove up to the bag drop off. The two attendants were standing to greet us and asked if we were going to play. We said yes and it was our first time there. The attendant asked my husband’s names as he took the clubs (1 bag) and my husband gave him his name. Instead of the kid asking how to spell it or ask to say it again he said, “ok your Gary P”. Unbelievable and so unprofessional for such an Absolutely beautiful course. Everywhere I searched online we couldn’t find a riders fee. Almost all Westchester public courses I get to ride free. I sat in the cart when It was time to start and they said I had to pay to ride. When they took one bag out of the car they saw me and never mentioned until he paid his fees and I was waiting. My husband rents the cart anyway...but at Pound Ridge they charge $50.00 to sit in the cart. They should pay me $50.00 to sit in the cart because if I chose to play...it would have delayed everyone to follow and piss players off. I did them a favor. When we finished...the attendant took the cart from where my husband parked it at the driving range, he was hitting balls after his round and the attendant cam and got his cart with our supplies in it and made him walk back to the club house with his clubs. We found they emptied the cart with all our things, cell phone, bag and wallet on the ground. They took his score card and yardage books which now he doesn’t have his information for our European golf trip. Come on...really? That was so unprofessional. We spend $140.00 for 9 holes of golf and was treated like we were trash.

As always. Never let me down. Not a single clover flower on the greens or on the fairway.tgats why you pay the money.

I got to played early in the season and the golf course was in great shape despite the rough winter. It's a visually intimidating and beautiful course that demands your focus at all times. I'll definitely will be going back again.

Fun golf course. Typical Pete Dye design with the tacky fake mounding. Not worth the money in my opinion but certainly an enjoyable round of golf.
