This is the third year we have played these courses. The facility is top notch and we have always looked forward to our rounds here. Unfortunately we followed a group of young men who intentionally played their boom box rap music very loud. The music could be heard several holes away and was quite distracting. I mention this after the round and was told this was a personal preference. I actually got the feeling that I was out of bounds for mentioning it. I am afraid I cannot play here again unless they can assure me they have a no boom box rule. When I book times at resorts in the future I will have to inquire about boom boxes. GOLF USED TO BE A GAME OF ETIQUETTE.

Jay the golf Sheriff or whatever you call his role came up to us telling us we had to hurry up and threatened us we'll get kicked off when there are the player a head of us on the greens and no players behind us. The cart girls are super disrespectful as well.

With its Scottish links styling, and an absence of perimeter-hugging real estate, Talking Stick's North course offers something a bit different from the more typical golf and residential developments found here in Scottsdale. A real Scottsdale treat, and somewhat different from the norm.

Maybe it was the way shots played down the left side of #2 & 3 would hit the fairway but run left and out of bounds. Local knowledge can help. Nothing memorable about the Proshop nor restaurant after - not a negative, just that I have no recall two weeks later after six other courses.

Played the North course on 6/5/15. It is a very flat course with no real personality. Fairways were in great shape. Greens were slow, almost felt like putting on turf. I can't remember a hole I really liked because a lot of them felt repetitive. No elevation changes or water holes. Strictly desert. However, did see two coyotes and a lot of prairie dogs that almost became road kill a few times. They aren't scared of people and will sneak up on you as you tee off haha. Pretty funny little guys to say the least.

I had a had a very enjoyable round on the South course. The course was in great shape. An interesting, challenging layout of reasonable difficulty for an average golfer. I (a resort guest) was accompanied by a threesome of regular members. The service provided by the starter and pro shop was excellent and the practice facility was great.I also had a very good breakfast in the grill. I am looking forward to my next trip.

Really easy course in typical resort constitution. Fairways are a football field wide. Even in the brush you can find every ball. Keeps speed of play good. Not much of a challenge but good with rental clubs. Taylor made m2 rentals are good.

Very good golf course. Wide fairways. Excellent greens. Very fast. Good bunkers. Beware: the carts go into crawl mode if you drive into the waste areas, so stay on the paths and fairways. Good electric carts. Nice clubhouse, pro shop and restaurant. Excellent staff. Highly recommended.

WORST GOLF EXPERIENCE I have ever had! Ruined my son's bachelor party! Made 4 Tee Times with the group manager Roy Smith for my son's bachelor party. When we arrive they did not have our tee times. I spoke with Mr. Smith and he said I never made the tee times and took zero responsibility. As a retired Air Force Officer; I'm not usually one to forget details. I showed him my notes from the conversation, his name, number, and the exact times I had written down that I had on my phone. He had zero empathy and said he could not help us in anyway. No apology, no effort to make it right. Thank goodness for Silverado Golf Course a few miles away who accommodated us and saved the day. I'll never go back, and I will tell everyone I can to never golf there! DON'T GOLF HERE!

Was extremely busy the day I played in mid May, due to cooler than seasonal temperatures. Course was not overly visually pleasing, but did offer a good challenge. Greens rolled decent too. I did really like the course map map sheet they give at the starter. Something more courses should do for tourist tracks. Not sure I’d go back. But does represent decent value at just under $70 for the time I played on a weekend.

Awful experience today on the South course. The deafening techno music from the hotel is a serious negative. It can be heard on every single hole and takes away from the peace and quiet of a normal round of golf. We ran into the beverage cart on hole 2 and were told it was last call. It was 105 degrees today so that sucked that we were limited to the water jugs on the course. It took 2:40 to play 9 holes. We waited on every tee box, and there were no rangers managing pace of play. We ended up walking off the course and not finishing. Two groups behind us did the same thing. Play elsewhere. They seem to have management issues.

Played the South course today. It's been on our winter rotation for years. Minor disappointment when we found out that we could walk but they have no walking carts to rent and no caddies. Would be such an easy course to walk. Staff was friendly and helpful. Course was in rough shape. Many areas of fairways and even greens struggling to get grass to grow. Also cutting down trees and brush at an alarming rate. Maybe to open the course up but it detracts from the seclusion you get on many holes. Normally a 5 star course but struggling at the moment.

Beautiful setting and creative architecture. We had lunch on the patio. Food was excellent. The presentation of the food was very plain. Really doesn't matter except that everything else was so perfect and the plating could be tweaked a bit to make it perfect.

Nice layout and fun to play. The employees were friendly and courteous. That said, they need to step it up here. I rented clubs that were very used and beat up. Even the bag seemed old. Not what you’d expect. The gps on golf carts did not work at all. There was no towel in my cart either and no beverage cart on course. Could be much better experience.

I can confidently state that this golf course is the best I have ever visited, and quite likely, the best I will ever have a chance of visiting. I rate it thusly based on the marvelous scenery alone, just beautiful! Granted, my experience of golf courses is limited and I am used to the drab backdrop of the Midwest. The course itself is nothing too challenging, but good for a pleasant round of golf now and again. Full of wide-open fairways, I have golfed on courses that were otherwise simple, though made trickier due to constricted fairways. I also appreciate how beverages are served via golf cart. You can see all manner of flora and fauna typical of the Desert Southwest including rattlers, coyotes, and even roadrunners! It's like being in a Wile E. Coyote cartoon... let's just hope we don't get nailed by errant rockets or overly elaborate traps worthy of Rube Goldberg. I say this with all sincerity, if you are anywhere near Scottsdale, then check this place out. Even if you're not that into golf, this is an enjoyable location.

Went to play and despite having a tee time confirmed in writing and pre-paid, they could not find it on the system. They very reluctantly agreed it was their mistake but they were very poor at fixing the issue they created. There was no apology and the attitude was "we have no idea when we'll be able to get you off, if at all". There was no urgency, the problem was clearly ours. Eventually a more pro-active starter arrived who manufactured a tee time for us, about an hour after we were due to play. The course was fine but the overall experience, poor.

Well conditioned desert course with good service, from bag drop to starter to marshal. However, the course is boring. Very flat property and with wide fairways and similar greens, all the holes feel the same. Just bash driver and mid-iron/wedge to the green, no real variety at all, even with the bunkering. Love the lack of rough of Coore/Crenshaw designs but this course was too resort and felt designed for only short hitters to have the challenges.

From the very moment we showed up we were harassed and hurried. The marshals here are absolutely ridiculous. We stopped at the turn to get a sandwich and a beer to go, the marshal lit into us for stopping. I would never play this course again. The course isn't even that great. No personality, its all straight holes. Every hole looks the same, and it is filled with muskrats everywhere. In all my years of golfing I've never experienced anything like these marshals. They seriously need some customer service overhauling, I'm not paying 80 bucks for an experience like that.

I was extremely disappointed with my experience. I called the pro shop a day before the standard three day period for information and was told I could use my card for a tee time and the two meals at the reduced rate. When I arrived I was informed that this was not the case and my entire party would have to pay the full rate. I was angered and embarrassed for the poor information I was given and no attempt was made by the pro shop to remedy the problem. None of us will return to Talking Stick in the future. Place has great potential. Will review again later, but in July 2016 the course was a little rough, the bar closed earlier than advertised (no 19th hole), and I paid more $$$ for an earlier tee time, but the starter was letting people tee off whenever they wanted. Easily four stars with minor corrections, and a possible 5-star gem if they promoted it better to locals (golf leagues and tournaments, "swing & fling" staycations with golf and room at casino staycations, business golf & meetings, etc.).

I've played on both courses and they're good to great. The club house I wonky with its set up the driving range needs to be doubled in size and beverage service on the course needs to be better (who doesn't complain about this on any course, right?) The course itself is a please to play. They're challenging, well kept and worth what you pay.

Carts have a nicest GPS systems I've seen with the menu with the exception of keeping score on them. Staff is all super friendly and there's a nice big pro shop with lots of clothing options. The wild horse grill is a nice spot for food and drinks..

I'm a Southern Cal Resident visiting family. I chose this course to play with high expectations. I can't believe they charge $175 for peak rates!!!! I only paid $40 for the North Course, the summer rate. The course is fairly easy with wide fairways, flat from fairways to greens and somewhat boring. However, the course was in good condition considering they recently punched the greens.

This course was great! It was lush and green, even during a long heat wave. The course was long for a par 70, but played shorter since the air is so dry and hot. I played at the beginning of May, and the price was coming down from their peak season rates. Beautiful views, lots of wildlife, and a very attentive staff. If you are in the area, this is a must-play.

Compared to other golf courses around, this one is terrible value. It's absolutely flat. They moved no earth to make it. Terribly boring. The only two holes I can remember are #1 and 2 on the North course, because they were sooo bad! #1 is alongside the range so I couldn't find my ball on the fairway due to all the other balls. #2 has out of bounds all along the left side from tee to green. The most boring hole I've ever played. The only thing that would make it worse would be a sand green. It actually reminded me of a sand green course I played as a kid. For $85 USD, this is horrible value. For $25 more, play a WAY NICER course like We-Ko-Pa, Troon North, or Westin Kierland. Seriously, avoid this one. Go to their TopGolf driving range instead.

The courses are challenging and fun and the staff make every visit a welcoming experience. Their local card program is the best in the Valley. The club does tremendous work to advance the game of golf through tournaments, hosting the Vision 54 golf school, player development program, and support of youth golf programs (The First Tee and PGA Junior League). Course conditions are typically superb, even in the heat of summer. Playing a course without having to look at surrounding houses is an enjoyable experience for golf in the desert. Players of all skill levels can enjoy both courses. The golf shop has a great selection and the food is always good in the restaurant. They upgraded the golf carts in 2017 with GPS (and geo-fenced fairways -- stay out of the desert), but both courses are also immensely walkable. Seeing the wild horses just off the property is always a treat when they are around.

Just got done playing today. Tee time was for 2:43. Didnt tee off till 3:20. Was excruciatingly slow. Didnt see one ranger out to help speed up things. Then at 6:30 we had 3 people (non rangers) come out and tell us to fonish up at 7 because its curfew. Sun was still up perfectly fine. So didnt get to finish. Grass is dying and the driving range was like putting a tee in a hey stack. Hate being rushed by a golf course that starts you 30 minutes late, we wont be back
