Planting crew cut my soaker hoses in two places when they planted a holly I purchased. They did not even attempt to repair, the hoses are protruding out of the ground, and a 12" piece is laying on the ground. Spoke with Jarratt (manager) and he offered no repair and no money to have repaired.Really bad customer service.

A lovely place with any plant or tree you are looking for. And if you're not sure what you want, the friendly helpful staff is wandering about looking to be helpful.

great selection. Too few employees available for questions and assistance.

Shades of Green offers a large, spread out location to purchase many varieties of plants and trees. While there isn't every variety under the sun, you will find some that aren't well known. Most are good for the Texas heat and soil. I personally love the lavender crepe myrtle, "Muskogee". There are interesting butterfly and honey bee homesites. They have an offsite tree farm, as well as sources for larger specimens. If you're into yoga, the have classes under the trees. Call for times.

Nice place but before going there I called and asked about a fig tree and was told a specific price to that type of fig when I go it was a different price and was charged that price. Otherwise a nice place to buy trees

Great plants and even greater knowledgeable staff. I took in a picture of my backyard and they helped me layout a low water oasis of perineal plants last year. We are greatly enjoying our new backyard. We live in Carrollton but well worth the drive. If you have a big project I would recommend going during the week for when the staff has more time to help you.

I will not return to this place of business. I went to inquire about their design services and was treated very rudely. The women I spoke to was abrupt and rude in her tone and wording, saying they did not have the time for this and to come back between 8:00am - 10:00am. When I asked about their small shrubs she continued to be very annoyed in her tone and almost combative. I realize some places are short staffed and very busy but there is no need to treat customers like they are pests! I will spend my money at another garden center where the customers are wanted.

One of the best places in DFW for plants. They always look healthy and have the traditional as well as unique plants. A little pricey, but you do get what you pay for.

John Lingenfelder

This retail garden center has knowledgeable people and a great selection of plants, including a great many native plants.

Patrick Pike

One of the best places in the area for local plants.

Awesome nursery!!! There is large selection of plants, flowers, bushes, trees, cactuses, pots and yard decorations. Staff is very friendly and everytime I've visited someone has asked me if I need help. Keep up the great work.

Shades of Green has a knowledgeable staff and an excellent selection of flowers, shrubs, and trees. The setting is amazing! Seven acres with 100 year old cottonwood trees right in the middle of Frisco.

David Porritt

We started doing business with them when we did a complete overhaul of our front yard landscaping, and Randy made the experience enjoyable. We have a front yard that receives compliments from all of the neighbors and now we are starting on the backyard. They are a highly professional group of people with the knowledge to help you achieve your desired result. I recommend them highly.

Matt Cole

I needed a tree replaced and I shopped around at the other local tree farms. The staff here seemed much more helpful and they were able to help me with the tree I needed for a fair price. It's also a nice place just to walk around and browse.

Fantastic guys out there. Loads of different options and the guys are extremely knowledgeable at what they do. One of my hibiscus plants had lots of eggs on leaves and flowers; took a leaf out and showed it to them. Charlie was very helpful finding out what can be used and he also helped walk around finding out the plants I wanted. Thanks for being very helpful.

Loren Moulder

Good selection of plants, mulches and fertilizer!

Saturday morning, just after they opened, I came in to Shades of Green to get their expert opinion about the dead patches in my lawn. The first two people I spoke to were very nice, but were unable help me and referred me to Stacy. I located Stacy, showed him photos and asked him his opinion of the lawn. He was very short, and a bit of a wise ass right off the bat, almost like he was already sick of answering questions before we even got started. His recommendation was hard to understand as I am not familiar with many types of grass and fertilizer. I was ultimately able to translate his advice while having a terrible experience simply talking with him. I went to another local garden nursery for a second opinion and they were MUCH more kind. Not a great way to treat a veteran, or anyone else for that matter, on Memorial Day Weekend. I don't think I'll be back to Shades of Green

I love this place and go there every spring, even though it's in Frisco and I live in Flower Mound. The owner's very knowledgeable and I can almost always find something a bit unusual there, but one thing that I especially like is that they carry some natives, like the Blue Eyed Grass (Sisyrinchium) that you see growing in bright little tufts in parks and in fields. This isn't a big-box place, it's owned and operated locally and it's been around for a while.

Azimuddin Mohammed

Stopped there with almost zero knowledge on the shrubs, left with the knowledge of expert :-) . Elizebeth answered all my questions walked me through the different selections they had in store, and helped me make my decision. I never got disappointed from this place. People like Elizebeth make it more pleasant. Keep up the good job !

swami sarveshananda

Nice variety and friendly helpful people working there.

Stephen Burge

Most selection of native plants. Staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.

Arsalan Shahid

Very nice place to shop for trees and plants. Jasmine was extremely helpful in locating a tree for our front yard. They also have a fall sale that can help save some of the overall cost

James Han

Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Delivered and planned trees nicely. Volunteered to tied down a existing 6ft wobbling tree. THANK YOU!

C Belk

Some of their plants are in good shape, some of them aren't. Great, friendly staff. Could do better on the passageways through the plants. The herbs I came for were the cheapest ones I've found, but were in terrible shape. I left without buying.

Vince Mohan

Good place for plants. A wide variety of plants available along with helpful staff to assist with your choices. Added bonus: if an employee doesn't know much, they freely admit it and they get someone who does.

Kevin Konkal

Beautiful place and huge selection of plants and trees. Expert advisors of plants, planting, and “the masters” of landscape designs and installations.

Meg Costa

My husband and I love this place. The employees at Shades of Green are friendly, dedicated and very knowledgeable. We've shopped there several times for trees, bushes and other plants, and we were very impressed by their customer service. Their prices certainly seem fair, and it feels good to be supporting a well-run local business.

Brenda Kinney

Excellent variety of plants, pottery, and anything else your garden may need. Knowledgeable staff.

Mary Beth Genovese

Great to find knowledgeable people... Sara is great!

Unfortunately this place turned out to be a huge disappointment. Shades of Green did a lot of work for our friends and came highly recommended, however they really dropped the ball with us. They are extremely expensive and will not help in any way after the work is done, regardless of the "warranty" they claim to give you. We spent thousands of dollars having our entire yard landscaped and sodded with new grass. Shortly after the job was completed, our yard developed brown patches that continued to expand. When I contacted Jeff (owner of Shades of Green), he said the problem was caused by rabbits and lack of watering. Neither is true. We've had several companies look at it and it turns out Shades of Green gave us diseased Bermuda grass, which is also highly susceptible to mold and fungus. I contacted Jeff a second time and he refused to do anything about it. He offered me a free (and torn) bag of fertilizer as a solution. Don't waste your time or your money. They hound you before the job to make sure they get paid, but once the job is done, they will have nothing to do with you and will refuse to honor their warranty. Now we have to spend thousands more to fix their mistake!

I really wish they would carry perennials that are suitable in our zone 8 only. I was here again today looking for some yellow flowering shrubs. They had two varieties and I like both and were prepared to buy several of each. My wife reminded me to make sure they were suitable and so I googled each and both were zone 9 shrubs, and would perish in our North Texas winters. That sucks.

Shane Jordan

Not satisfied with the purchase here. Ordered 13 vines to have delivered in November. Due to delays from Shades of Green they were not delivered until December, 3 days before a freeze. Of course they all died. Shades of green offered 25% off a new order which to me is not acceptable. 50% would have been acceptable, but 25% is a joke. Wal-mart and home depot have better policies than that. Will be buying the replacements from other places going forward. Not worth the risk here.
