Four monts ago, after searching different places to purchase a queen palm tree, we finally decided to buy from Gills Nursery. This is the first time we have ever bought from any nursery. Just recently I requested a service call & was beyond happy that Mr. Gill himself cared enough to come and assure me himself that all is well. He also did a few touch ups in which I am very grateful for. While speaking with Mr. Gill I realized how caring & devoted this company is. We are beyond happy with our palm tree & with Gill Nursery. Mr. Gill you totally rock!!!

We wanted a complete renovation of our landscaping when we bought our home. Phillip Elbert designed the perfect combination of flowering shrubs for our yard. Hummingbirds, butterflies and bees work the bottlebrush, vitex tress, lantana, plumbago, salvia, trumpet vine, gardenias, firecracker plants, Mexican Honeysuckle, etc. And the pink roses, drift roses, cenizo, ixora, Hawthorne, Indian carnations, croton, bird of paradise and lilies are gorgeous. The backyard fountain and the landscape lighting on the oak trees and house are two more features that we enjoy every morning and evening. Phillip's design was just right for us and Gill Nursery did a superb job with removal, preparation and planting. We appreciate the expert advice we receive when we return to the nursery for products and assistance with upkeep. Thanks guys!!

It seems that every time I come into the store and buy something I am happy with it it. Also seems that every time I call them with a problem with any of my plants they have a solution which works. I guess I'm just saying that they are what I'm looking for in a nursery. Glad they're in my neighborhood. 2017 August update: Still a great place to buy things. So much better than the big box stores. Plants from Gill's just seem to survive better and every time I have issues they have a solution that actually works. In the end I spend less money overall than at other places because I get plants that live and don't buy unnecessary stuff. Just wish they had the store near me still but worth the drive to the current one.

We have been to Gills several times and have always been met with a helpful friendly staff. They take the time to answer questions and guide us through the store without ever putting pressure to buy. Wyatt is our favorite staff member in the store! The plants are all healthy and they have a great selection. Even the store peaceful and laid out in such a way that you feel like you are at a botanical garden. We have used them to landscape our front and back yards. Phillip is an amazing designer and we have been enjoying our personal oasis for two years now. Every experience I have had with them has been a 5 star experience!

After living for an entire year with a terrific mess that another company created in our backyard, James Gill and his crew came to our rescue! He transformed an awful, swampy, mudpie into a beautifully paved patio and side yard that everyone (including the dogs) can enjoy now. This post is way overdue. I had my yard landscaped by Gill's 2 years ago. Phillip Elbert did an outstanding job on the design as you can see from the before and after pictures. Additionally, all of this was done about 5 months before the Hurricane. Pretty much everything survived intact, but I had a Texas Sabal Palm that got damaged in the storm. I was hoping it would recover, but I finally called Phillip yesterday. He came over today and looked at it and gave me some advice on what to do. He didn't charge me for the trip out. That is the kind of customer service that makes the difference. I constantly get compliments on my yard. I would highly recommend him and Gill's to anyone looking for landscaping in Corpus Christi.

We have a big backyard and Gill's Landscape Nursery is our go-to place for healthy, quality plants and other quality garden products. But what keeps us going back is the great advice and information I receive when I need it. I have asked questions via the Gill's Facebook instant messenger. They have always replied the same day, usually within an hour. They make suggestions on how to solve my issues and never try to sell me something. That's great customer service. We love Gill's Landscape Nursery!

I'm truly sorry that I haven't posted this wonderful, great, positive experience I had in 2018 with Gill Landscape Nursery. My husband bought two trees from them to be planted in our front yard. I had some guys here working already for me so they put them in the ground. Gill Nursery had given us a paper with step by step directions on planting them and caring for them. After about 2 months I noticed one of them loosing leaves and looking bad. I called immediately and spoke to James. He came out and looked at it and had two great guys come over and they brought it up 2 inches and gave me further instructions. James asked me to contact him after two weeks if it didn't look considerably better, it didn't. Gill Nursery came back and dug it up and replaced it with a beautiful tree. They did everything they committed to in their contract for their beautiful products. I couldn't have been happier and I appreciate them from the bottom of my heart. I have been purchasing things from Gill's for many years and have been satisfied with everything I have ever bought. I wouldn't go any place else. Now I need to call them to Landscape my front. It is sad that I am only just now able to write this review. I have had many health problems that have prevented me from doing this before now. I love Gill's Nursery. They have a great variety of plants, trees, shrubs, and vegetables to choose from, and I always find what I'm looking for there. I am always helped by a cheerful smiling person. I bought a fairly large Cypress tree there in November of 2014. I love this tree, but it was having a problem staying straight up, especially with all the wind, rain, and storms we had last Spring. It was in bad shape and barely standing, so I went back in to the nursery and Mr. Gill,himself, came to my house. He came up with a good way to stake and secure my tree. Then, after that, Mr. Gill, told me what it also really needed was to be trimmed. He trimmed the tree way back, and he told me not to worry, because it would come back nicer and more beautiful than ever. He sure was right too, because the tree came back beautifully. It is a beautiful tree ! Mr. Gill did both the staking up and trimming, and he didn't charge me one penny. He also stayed an answered many questions I had for him. He spent a lot of time with me that afternoon doing all he did. I learned a great deal from him, and I was just amazed that he would come over to my house, stake and trim my Cypress tree, and talk to me and answer all my questions. I was very impressed with him and have always been impressed with his nursery. They do stand behind what they sell, treat you fairly and kindly, and sell quality products. I know I have been shopping there for many years, and I would recommend them to anyone who wants courteous help, quality products, and wants to shop at a nursery staffed with true professionals, and an owner who will go out of his way to help you !and I would recommend them to anyone who wants courteous help, quality products, and wants to shop at a nursery staffed with true professionals, and an owner who will go out of his way to help you ! Quality is a top priority for Gill's Nursery. After 24 years living in Corpus Christi, we relocated near Houston and thought being around Houston we would find a lot of high quality nurseries. We ended up being very disappointed in the selection and quality. So now, whenever we visit our son in Corpus Christi, we make a trip to Gill's Nursery to buy fertilizer and plants for landscaping. Today we purchased four Natchez crape mytles and drove them 190 miles home to plant. Thanks to James Gill and his team for being committed to high quality plants.

Unfortunately, they simply do not do a good job with landscaping. The plants are fine. But they are unable to do even basic water features. With the prices they charge, the expectations are just as high. And for there to be no communication for months on end, and for what little communication we've had to be ignored, I simply have to give them the lowest rating possible. If you feel it's worth $40,000 to have to run an extension cord to your pond, and for your pond to leak, and for your patio to crack after being repaired multiple times, then by all means use them. After 5 months, there's no hope in this project being completed. Hopefully we can save someone else the hassle.

Grace Buchanan created a beautiful backyard. She is such an artist, I know I will enjoy my yard more than I could have imagined. Loved working with her and her plant selection is both colorful and fragrant. The crew was also excellent.

The “Great” reviews have failed Us. Upon completion of a new construction home, the delivery of landscaping services provided by Gill’s Landscaping did not come near the quality of the price paid.

Pros - nearly free landscape architect - regular classes in horticulture - everyone is extremely knowledgeable - beautiful nursery grounds with activity playground for children. Cons - somewhat limited collection/stock compared to Turner's - prices a little on the higher end but not horrible. The services more than make up for that.

UPDATE: Have used Gills for a couple months now and I am not surprised in seeing a consistent level of professionalism and quality in products! They now provide Happy Frog potting mix that I was eager to try and VIOLA! Stuff is amazing. You can FEEL the difference. My herbs are growing well and happy! My squash went from meh to growing like crazy! Anywho will definitely be investing in this new potting soil next spring. Dont know how they do it :) Gills has got a life long customer here. Loved my first experience. Very knowledgable about the plants as well as ecosystem. Came in wanting host plants for particular butterfly and she had a chart and general knowledge about certain species and larval hosts. She was also able to distinguish the fertilizers for me! Was showed that they have demos and they regularly have community events and sales. Definitely a local nursery that I am going to frequent for years to come!

We hired Gill Nursery to design our landscape for the front and back of our house 8 years ago. The design was beautiful and so detailed. Eight years later, after years of enjoying our beautiful landscaping we sold our home. Every real estate professional and guest who viewed our home left comments about the beauty of the landscaping. We sold our home in a couple of days and I know the beautiful landscaping was what set our home apart from others in the neighborhood. Now I cannot wait to have Gill Nursery come out to our new home and do it again!

I'm so sorry to find out that this Alemeda location has been closed and now they are only at their large location on Airline. I have always enjoyed coming to this location and they were my go to people for plants or dirt. Sadly, the large location is just too far for me to drive and I will have to find another nursery to shop at. Good luck to you Gills!

Great place to purchase trees and flowers. We had a problem with a tree we bought and he came out and replanted the tree and then after two years of the tree not rooting even tho the tree didn't die . He is replacing the tree with a different type of tree that we agreed would do good . Most business would have told me it's a problem with your yard but not gill it seems to me he is all about the customer . Thanks for everything gill I am a life time customer now

Today was my first time here and after our experience, I can tell you we'll be returning customers for sure. We went looking for crepe myrtles and left with more knowledge of the different species and how to care for them than we ever had. They truly care about the plants and do everything in their power to instruct you and educate you on how to care for your plants. We felt the level of customer service to be unparalleled and cannot sing their praises enough.

We have used Gill's Nursery twice since living in the Lakes and have never been disappointed. Phillip Elbert was amazing in planning out where to install a brick patio. He picked out the perfect color bricks that matched our house and concrete. He had the new sod put in so that drainage did not pool onto the patio when it rains. His crew Kevin and Brandon and the rest were very professional and friendly. Phillip and crew will do an amazing job and you will not be disappointed.

Most of the plants and decorative items are out in the open, so be sure to dress appropriately for weather conditions. The folks who work there are friendly and knowledgeable. If they don't have the bedding plants you're looking for, it's probably the wrong season to grow them.
