Purchased a load of Dixie Mix earlier this spring. It looked terrific when it was delivered. Planted flowers and vegetables in Dixie Mix and nursery containers. Plants grew quickly initially. After a few rain showers and periodic watering the plants began to stress by wilting, sagging and leaves dying. Upon checking the Dixie Mix in the containers I found that the soil had become rock solid. It was necessary to use a wooden dowel and metal rod to push into the Dixie Mix around the plants to allow water to reach the roots otherwise the water was going between the Dixie Mix, which had formed a solid block, and the inside of the pots draining straight out of the bottom. I noticed what appeared to be a lot of sand which formed a crust just below the surface of a thin layer of organic material similar to compost/wood chips. Contacted Wiley’s on June 22 by phone to ask if there was something that I should have added before planting or if Wiley’s had experienced similar problems with Dixie Mix. I was told that Wiley’s had never heard of my problem before and they offered no suggestions. I’m left with the conclusion that Dixie Mix is a bad product. It was very expensive and performed terribly; almost like buying a load of sand. Don’t waste your money. The people at Wiley’s seem to be very nice but I think that someone got the mix wrong in the Dixie Mix.

Very unorganized. I called 2 weeks ago to order topsoil and they can't even call me back to tell me how long the wait will be. I'm already behind time wise for planting a vegetable garden and can't rely on them to give me a ballpark time frame.

Extremely unprofessional. My spouse has bought supplies here once previously but never again will he/I or anyone I know. I simply called the phone number listed for them yesterday to see if their hours would be listed. Only to get a voice message early this morning stating “I don't know why you called this business on a Sunday you know we're not open on Sunday”, In an extremely rude unprofessional tone. We will never use this business again. What happened to good customer service? He didn’t answer when I called, nor did I leave a message but he had no problem returning a missed call just to be rude.
