We retained Saluda Hill to do the outdoor design and landscaping for our new home, which in addition to the multitude of plants included irrigation and lighting spread out over 3 acres of property. I've had the most horrible experience ever with this company! We've contacted them for a quote and were waiting for more than a week for them to return our call. After a couple of follow up calls, we were able to set up an appointment, which was canceled on the appointment day as somebody left the town. I've tried to set up another appointment with a very mean lady (Sherie?), and after some back and forth I was lucky to schedule it! Guess what - I took some time off from work and nobody showed up! I've waited for 45 minutes! The company said they had my appointment in their schedule for a different day the week I was actually out of town (!?). Very unprofessional - don't even waste your time! I would never recommend this company to anyone!

Starting with the design, Phil and Richard were so patient and attentive to our needs and style and what they came up with was truly wonderful. We retained Saludahill Landscapes in April 2017 to re sod our front yard with St. Augustine. They graded the front yard, backfilled with topsoil and took no shortcuts. In February of 2018 we purchased a new home in a development in Blythewood. We were disappointed with what the Builder provided as "landscaping" in the deal, so we started to look for a company to design and propose a more attractive landscape plan (shrubs, trees, bedding materials) for our home. After several disappointing experiences with local nurseries/garden shops (some of which wanted to charge up to $100 just to have someone come to our home and prepare a proposal; some of which said that for a fee they would prepare a plan and sell us the bedding material and plants, but would not install anything: and one of which took our contact information for a follow-up call from their designer who never called), we contacted Saluda Hill Landscaping - the company our Builder used to do the initial landscaping for our new house. We were able to get an appointment with one of their Designers (Lynnea Urban) within a short period of time. She is a very knowledgeable young professional who is well qualified to do this sort of work; she answered our questions in a timely manner; and she was there at every stage of the design - proposal - installation process. The project ultimately involved installing 16 tons of crushed brick in the flower beds around the house, as well as planting three large trees (and two smaller ones), and planting or moving about 25 shrubs. The work was done on schedule, the crew of laborers were careful and courteous, and we have been very pleased with the result. One of the things we might have done to make this process simpler is to set a budget from the outset. The initial Proposal we got from Ms. Urban had a price point that was considerably more than we intended to spend on this project, and we had to ask her to revise her Proposal (to reduce the cost.) One of the things Saluda Hill Landscaping might have done to improve this process is to help us to understand the "size" of the various proposed plants which were to be used. For example. we were a bit disappointed to see how small a "three-gallon" shrub actually turns out to be - they delivered what they proposed (e.g., three-gallon or five-gallon shrubs etc.), but we did not realize what that meant in terms of height, or fullness of the particular plant. Overall, we are pleased with our experience with Saluda Hill Landscaping, and we recommend them to anyone who needs to have this kind of work done at their home.

They are incompetent and have no idea how to properly install a french drain. After it doesn’t ever work properly, they say it’s out of warranty. How does a french drain that never worked properly go out of warranty after fewer than 2 years??

They are the worst kind of landscaping company. They charged us up front, and after they completed they are not doing any service. Our lawn has municipal black spots and overall lawn looks dark and yellow, comparing the green lawns of our neighbors. We asked them, were told we need to water more. It has been raining heavily for last couple of months almost every day, our sprinkler system was on whenever there is no rain. It is an absolutely unacceptable answer to an customer. They can't just put up the cheapest grass and expect miracle growth.

There hardscaping may be good but they do a terrible job on sod installs and pinestraw. They Try to do it as quick as possible, they do not take there time to do a good job. Made a huge mess at my neighbors house an I could not believe Saluda Hill would do a job like that.

Saluda Hills did great job of designing and implementing a complete refurbishing of our yard. New trees, bushes, grass and flowering plants. Also installed an irrigation system and a outdoor lighting system. Wish we had done it all when we first built our house 25 years ago. The cost was less than I thought it would be. They were recommended to us by a friend and now we recommend them to other friends.

Overall, just a poor experience. Sod was delivered on a Sunday evening at around 10p, making a bunch of noise in the neighborhood. Then, installers show up a day before scheduled, luckily I was home. Sod install was not fully completed, leaving a 3 foot wide area by the home - I was told this was standard practice, and understand it was a mistake. It took over a week to get it fixed. Worst of all, 50% of the sod was DOA. Watered it based on recommendations, but it was beyond saving. There are patches in the yard of dead sod/dirt that can't be saved. I feel like I wasted money.
