Spring 2019: Just in case anyone is still reading this, I wanted to let you know that the trees made it through the winter. They look great but I still will not go back to Rhoads based on their customer service. I went to County Line Nursery and their selection is better, the plants are healthier and the people working there are very knowledgeable and friendly. Fall 2018: Changed rating to 4 stars as Rhoads made the situation (described below) right. Hoping the trees planted these year make it through the winter. Will keep you posted. I left off one star since there intial response to my issue, in my estimation, was not acceptable. BUYER BEWARE-DO NOT PURCHASE LARGE EXPENSIVE TREES OR PLANTS FROM RHOADS. (unless you have $$ to throw away) We purchased, and had Rhoads plant, 2 crepe myrtles in September 2017. They are dead this year - 2018. I called and was told that they lost all theirs also since it was a bad winter for crepe myrtles. I was also told that is why you don't plant crepe myrtles in this area; a small fact that was not communicated to me when we purchased the trees. They have no problem taking your money and not telling you the information you need to know to make the right decision. No guarantee on any plants so I am out $700. I do not mind paying the price but if the business does not have the knowledge to help customers and employees are rude then it is not worth it. I will do all my future plant purchases elsewhere!

I'm sorry to say that I was very disappointed this year. Rhoads was always THE place to go for the healthiest flowers and the best selection. I did not find that this year. I was also surprised to see that their own roadside plantings and general outdoor appearance was not as it has been before. I hope things are better again next year.

Best Garden Center around. I was looking a non basic, everyone has it in their garden plant. I went to every garden center/nursery from Roxborough to Norristown. The Rhoads garden had it, along with a lot of other interesting plants that no one else carries. The man that helped me was very knowledgeable and friendly. He helped me find the plant I needed. I will go back soon, as I have a few spots to fill in my yard. If you want your yard to stand out fro your neighbors, skip the boring box stores and go to The Roads Garden. And the place is very nicely arranged. It felt like walking through an old estate garden.

Some of the staff did not really know anything and just kinda stood there, getting money. Mike definitely knew what he was talking about and that is good! The place is huge! And beautiful. And there are so many flowers and trees and plants. We bought some succulents for us and it went well! The parrot is scary but awesome! Amazing experience!

I prepaid the funeral home for having Rhodes Florist make the main floral arrangement for the funeral of my sister. I was so shocked when I arrived at the church, that this center, large arrangement had 1/8 wilted/not fresh flowers in it that was obvious to the family of the deceased. We had to call them from the church to come address the problem. They took the arrangement out to their car, pulled all the wilted flowers out and never even put fresh flowers in their place. I've tried to work with the manager of this business but he refused to admit their mistake. He says that I didn't like those flowers...not true. They were obviously wilted with several different types of flowers. This business does not seem to be a part of the Better Business Bureau so I have no protection on the monies which I paid them. I did not ask for a full refund, only a partial refund. But he would not work with me. No matter what the manager says under this post, he will not come forward. Guess its all about keeping their money. I took several pictures of the flowers and wish I could post them in this review. It's pretty bad that you could not get a full fresh arrangement for a funeral after paying hundreds of money. He says it was a discount but I never paid him for a discounted arrangement. He got what the funeral home Charged me. That was full price. Please continue to read all of these reviews. Others seem to have the same problem.

This is not the most flexible place for moms with small children which is unfortunate because they had a good selection of children’s books toys that were of the theme of good humanity. Soon after we entered the store, my son saw a selection of kid gardening tools and fell in love with a broom. It was the perfect size for him so I was not going to turn it down especially because it encouraged cleaning. But he was very attached to it and did not want me to leave the broom at the registry with some plants that were selected for purchasing. He wanted to sweep with it and did so. I didn’t even see any baskets at the entrance that I came in to store my smaller items. So I went back to my car and grabbed some bags. This worked out better because we were entering the fragile section and a basket probably wouldn’t safely manage a broom. I was also happier to have a bag because I have chronic elbow pain and it is exacerbated by anything that pulls on my elbow. A shoulder bag is much more manageable for me especially as a maneuver a young boy around delicates. Shortly after entering the fragile section, I was able to convince my boy to depart from the broom so I could put it in the bag. We came across the children’s section, where I happily added more stuff to the bag. Then I was approached by who seemed to be a manager. She gently scolded me that I cannot put merchandise into a bag, it must be in a basket (basket? The entrance I came in, had no baskets). And told me that I must put my items to be purchased as she pointed to a registry far away from the other registry that I already left items. She didn’t even give me time to explain myself... she continued her scolding as she walked away and delegated the orders to one of her staff who seemed very reluctant to follow through. After that, I put away the things that I were in my hands to be considered to be bought and proceeded to the registry where I already left things. (It was very likely that I would have bought more items, especially since there was so much of the store we didn’t get to). The staff at the registry was very friendly. I think they felt badly that I was scolded. It seems that the manager was fearful that I would steal... but I think there could have been a much nicer approaches especially since I had a young boy and no help. She could have offered to take some of my things to the registry and asked which registry is better for me, she could have offered to get a basket for me. She could have given me time to explain myself and so that my child could understand that I need to leave the broom at the registry. I don’t think that I have ever written a bad review before. In fact, I think I have only written one other review and it was a positive one. Just a little background so the reader can understand my disgruntlement: Prior to this, I had a deep appreciation for this establishment. They did beautiful potted herb center pieces for my wedding on 9-4-09. I still have one of the terracotta pots. It is also sad because my son loved it there. He loved the pond with the fish among many other things. There are other garden stores... Prixex is another favorite.

The service I have received from the Rhoads Garden is exemplary. Mike is a wealth of information and always gives great advice. Ernie and his team just installed lighting for me, it looks beautiful and project was completed ahead of schedule. Very dependable and trustworthy. Love this place!

Go for the plants, stay for the staff. I go there for the amazing advice and how much time they put not helping me. I have the black thumb of death when it comes to plants. Sadly, I also dearly love greenery. The two area conflict badly. Lucky for me, Rhoads staff always take the time to understand what I'm looking for and what plants are likely to remain among the living in my care. Then they give me a "how to plant what you just purchased for dummies" step by step to do list. This is not something I could expect out of home Depot or Lowe's. I would be reduced to reading plant tags that tell you if it should be planted in the shade or sun... Basically my black thumb would rain down death again. So thank you Rhoads for being so helpful and patient every time I come there ...and for helping me prevent more black thumb of death imposed plant genocide!!!

I went to The Rhoads Garden for the first time today to find out more information about their flowers, the cost, and the process of picking and ordering the flowers for my upcoming wedding. The cashier was super nice; she was very helpful and welcoming. She gave me some information about the flowers, but mentioned that I could speak with a florist to get more detailed information. I told her that if it was no trouble, that would be great. I should've just said no thank you... The florist was very rude, had a constant attitude during our conversation, and spoke to me like I was a child. I was explaining to the florist that I am planning a budget wedding and wanted to understand the costs and process of ordering the flowers and she said very rudely, "I don't understand that you are trying to ask me. What do you want?" For the rest of the conversation, she acted like I've never seen a flower in my life and told me that I have to do more research on the types and colors of flowers I want before I speak with her. The reason I stopped in was to get a list of the flowers they work with and the cost. I AM doing my "homework" by stopping in and asking questions. How am I in the wrong? It's not like I've planned a wedding before. This woman should not be permitted to speak with customers and I will NEVER shop at The Rhoads Garden again. This was supposed to be an exciting experience for me and instead I was pissed after. Thanks, lady.

This is a great place with great products. Wonderful selection of top quality plants. Friendly people. Only thing is there prices are very high. I have only bought one tree from here but I do enjoy "window shopping" here. Conistoga nursery is a hike but there prices are so much better, if you are planning to but a large quantity it's worth the drive.

I went to Rhoads 3x to ask questions about trees. I spoke to 3 different staff people and had negative experiences with each one. #1 was polite, but obviously not knowledgeable about their stock but didn't refer me to someone who was, #2 after answering my few questions and showing me 2 different types of trees couldn't wait to excuse himself after 10 minutes (and this was mid week during the day, not a busy time), #3 avoided my eyes and I had to track him down and he rushed away after 5 minutes and showing me 1 tree. I only give them 2 stars because they have a huge selection of trees and perennials...but if you're looking for customer service, go somewhere else.

Placed order for delivery Date 5/4/15. Requested purple flowers as primary and stated I liked a particular design found in their web-page. I additionally requested delivery as close to 12 noon as possible due to someone being there to receive the order. I paid a little order 50 dollars and the display was drab and cheep looking. VERY DISAPPOINTED in that part alone. My specified delivery time as close to 12 noon was an additional 8 dollars and that did not work out either. The delivery came at 3:30pm. So much for trying to give local business my business. Will not use this company again.

Have been buying flowers for years there but will never go back after the most recent experience . I ordered two bouquets for Mother’s Day and when I told them I was disappointed in what they gave me for the price I was being charged they attempted to redo it and after the 2nd attempt to redo them the manager told me to “get out “ of the store. Will let everyone know how they treat their loyal customers . Not worth the effort anymore
