Pikes has killed our relationship and future business! Sad as my family loves going to Pikes. Pikes sold me Phlox that died immediately upon being planted. I purchased a lot so the total loss was high. I called and explained that I had purchased phlox along with yellow dahlia, angelonia, lantana and daisies and that all was doing great except the phlox, which died. The woman did not care. She told me that they don't guarantee plants. I asked how that can be given that ALL the phlox died quickly and that everything else was doing well. I think they are an awful operation and there is no way they didn't know they were selling a bum batch as others had to have also complained about the phlox. We will definitely bring our business elsewhere.

While all of the Pike Nurseries carry a huge selection of great plants, I am giving this particular location one star due to extremely poor customer service. I am a local horticulturist and shop all surrounding nurseries for my customers. I can say unequivocally, this store has the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I called this store in search of two Hicks Yews, and after a very long hold (which is par for the course) I was told by the store manager, Peggy, they did not have any in stock. I phoned the Matthews location to check with them and I was told they didn’t have any, but did show Ballantyne had three in stock. Unfortunately, most times, I have to go to this store in person for what I am looking for, because the employees have very little to no plant knowledge. Plant knowledge aside, it sure would be nice to get friendly customer service. When I arrived at the Ballantyne store, sure enough, they had three of the Yews in stock. Before checking out, I brought my concerns to Peggy and her response was argumentative, defensive, condescending and rude. There were a number of diplomatic ways she could have handled this situation, but it’s quite obvious to me me that she completely lacks customer service skills. Another recent occasion, I called to see if they had any lemon cypress trees, after another long hold,I was told by Jessica they had 1 gallons in stock. When I asked her how tall they were she replied two inches. I seriously doubted this could be true, so I kindly asked her if I could speak with someone in perennials. She put me on hold for exactly nine minutes to come back and say that in fact they didn’t have any. No apology for my long wait, no apology for her mistake, just a rude response. Pike Nurseries has lost my business. There are plenty of other garden centers in the Charlotte area who have happy, helpful, and passionate people willing to help. I certainly understand it might be hard to hire people who have plant knowledge, but there is no excuse for poor customer service, it should be paramount!

Pike Nursery genuinely is the best nursery business that we have ever come across. It's an adorable nursery spot that not just has a wide collection of shrubs and trees, but also takes care of its environmental commitments. This place has got some really qualified management professionals that are so knowledgeable and sweet to assist you with your queries. Love this place!

Great selection, more variety than the big box stores. Pricier, but the membership makes up for it. Help is hard to come by though. Once asked if they sold rakes and i was told no. Saw them there the following week...!

This place has a lot of plants. I think the price of plants are reasonably priced for selection and quality. Some of the other products (pots, fountains, patio furniture, etc) are priced on the high side, but the plant and flower selection is worth the trip.

People make the difference here. Helpful, kind people are the only ones I've encountered at Pikes. We get our Christmas trees here and have for three years. They have a good selection, prices are a bit on the higher side, but the location is one where you'd expect such.

Great selection of flowers, shrubs etc. Would have been a 5 star, but was tad let down by the availability of staff. Wasn't all that busy for a Saturday. Saw a few on phones instead of being proactive. Started loading my goods on to the checkout counter to be told it's closed. Overall 4/5.

Not the place to go for indoor house plants, as their selection is small with most of them being ‘beginner’ house plants (IMO). The plants are also on the expensive side. However, their selection of outdoor plants is very large and reasonably priced! This is place is a great nursery, just depends on what you’re looking for.

Pikes was not up to its typical high standards. No one outside assisting and organizing carts. Off quality product throughout. Biggest disappointment was front end service. Line to check out was into the greenhouse. At one point two of four registers were closed. Finally the third opened after I was checked out. On a positive note the employees I spoke to were nice and helpful. The quantity of products displayed was very good.

Now THIS is where to go in south Charlotte for beautiful/healthy plants and wonderful customer service! It may be a little more expensive than the awful "outlet" down the road in Pineville (the one where you get screamed at for daring to show the owner a plant photo on your phone!) but the quality and expertise is so worth every penny! George patiently listened to our needs for the back yard and educated us on the process for planting. 5 stars to him!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND Pikes and won't make the mistake of going anywhere else again!

Nice selection of seeds, plants and all kinds of other gardening products. Only place I can find in the area that sells 4 cubic feet of vermiculite. Christmas trees are another reason to go here...they take care of them and then wrap them up and tie them on your roof at no extra cost. Great value as you'll pay as much at the big box stores without any service.

I spend hundreds of dollars every year here. I recently purchased some poor looking plants not the usual Pikes quality. Shame on me because they wouldn't replace the three that died. I will never shop here again. They lost a lot of business over $15.

Pike Garden Center is a garden lovers extravaganza of luxurious delights. The moment you walk through their front door you're greeted by friendly staff willing to help you in any way they can. You'll be struck at the beauty and variety of the outdoor furniture. The garden fountain and garden water elements are reasonably priced for an upscale store of this kind in south Charlotte. You'll also find: seasonal shrubs, annual and perennial flowers and plants, exotic cacti and succulents, fabulous selection of bird houses and bird feeders, decorative hanging basket containers, huge and colorful ceramic pots and even pixie-garden supplies. Plan to spend time to just browse the store. You'll be glad you did.

Update: Had a pretty bad experience with management over the weekend. I was at another Pike Nursery and and wanted to know if this location had a certain item in stock. While I was still at the other nursery I called this location to see if they had a tree in stock and was put on hold for 10 minutes. I hung up thinking they forgot about me and called back and immediately got someone and ask my same question and stated that I was on hold before. She put me on hold and came back a few minutes later stating, "I just got word from the manager, can we give you a call back later?" I was floored that they couldn't answer my question nor to this date have they even called me back. We eventually went to this location because we really needed this tree. They did have one and they were a little busy but in my opinion they weren't too busy to answer a simple question. Usually you put customers first but I guess nursery has a different view. Also we went to Lowe's later that day and realize that several of the plants they had at pikes were half the price at Lowe's. This is a common thing I've come to notice that this nursery is more expensive than others. First Review: The nursery is very nice. It is very well organized and the staff knows quite a bit about the plans they have. Well they don’t have a huge selection of everything they have enough. You can’t go here and find 30 different types of trees but they have all the standard trees. My only issue with the nursery is that they are a little more expensive than a independent nursery. After all they are a chain so prices are pretty much set. There are better deals if you’re willing to drive around town but it is a good place for a quick shop.

For a long time now, I have contemplated writing this review. But today's poor customer service nailed it. The staff are simply "unpleasant." They hardly every greet you, make little effort to help you, and are never ever "friendly." It's as If, the staff are annoyed or in a bad mood. Today, I went to pick up a few shrubs, purchased several days ago. They were in the holding area, with my name and a "paid" sticker. This wasn't good enough; I have to pull up my BOA account and show them my purchases! They didn't believe me, and had to spend time digging through their system to be sure! Don't shop there if you want "real" customer services -- go to Roundtree Nurseries instead!

They'll sell you a Christmas tree and spray it with fake snow, thought that was pretty cool. Good selection of wind chimes and decorative wreaths and wood wick candles. Seed stock seems overpriced but their live plants are cheaper so you might as well buy those

I love going here to buy things and just to browse. Great selection of plants and VERY knowledgable staff. The layout is beautiful, more fun than going to Lowes or Home Depot and more selection. The fish pond out front is beautiful! I will say some of their plants and especially their pots are overpriced. However, it can be a good place to window shop even if you're not going to buy everything there.

Pike Nurseries is always a great place to shop with knowledgeable help and healthy plants and trees but especially at Christmas when all the live cut trees are smelling great inside the covered greenhouse. I bought poinsettias today and they are really gorgeous, check it out; this is also one of the only places in Charlotte you can get a flocked real tree covered in what looks like snow, fun

Have shopped Pikes since it opened. Never pass without stopping in. Love the selection of plants. I feel their garden art/decor should be much more upscale. They really are quite dissapointting in that area. Loosing alot of volume possibility. The staffing and management are the best. The manager actually bought a container from an Atlanta store I wanted. And the knowledge of the staff is fantastic. Keep up the great work!

Dealt with Joe. Gave me a nice explanation on the kamodojoe grill that I arrived on site to look at. Watched their video's on the unit and we worked out a great deal. They have a large selection and a lot of variety. A lot bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. However, they are more expensive than most similar retailers. In return they offer a lifetime return as long as you keep your receipt. Additionally, they offer a10% military or senior discount.

I would "award" no star if I could. Newly arrived to Charlotte 6 months ago, my wife & I made several visits to this store. We have a very small "yard", about 10 X 15. One most trips, various staff members make it clear they are very busy. It ends up like Walmart, where I'm told, "it's over there". I was apparently sufficiently stupid in asking about the difference between "annuals" & "perennials" as to warrant a glare from one lady who was furiously placing plants on a table...just like Walmart. Last month, April, I made an appointment for a "landscape designer" for today. I never received confirmation, so I called this am & spoke with a lady in Atlanta, who had trouble hearing me, explaining, "it's my headset". She finally decided to change phones & told me, "sorry, you're not in the system." "We have appointments in July..." I then called the store. More headset problems. "Who did you talk to, was it Angela ?". Sorry, I didn't realize it's my job to take notes when I make an appointment. I gave my name, address & number & am awaiting a return call. As the Zen Master teaches, "we shall see..."

Nice selection of plants but the staff was rude. I'm new to taking care of house plants and the lady working there made me feel silly for asking questions and didn't really take the time to help - she told me to just go through and check the tabs inserted in the pots. There were also some plants there that were perfectly fine just a little small but they wouldn't sell them bc they looked "like something you would buy from Walmart" so instead they threw them away. Throwing away plants instead of selling them at a discount is extremely wasteful. Next time I buy a plant I plan on going somewhere else.

Today was my first visit to this place.The sales people were unfriendly and rude I walked around the store for about 30 minutes and couldn’t get anyone to help me to find what I wanted . I asked the woman at the register if she can help me but she said she was too busy “ I am by myself here”” she said. I walked around trying to find someone else but gave up and walked away. No one seemed to care for customers in that place. It was my first and last visit. My advice quit if you hate your job. Back shopping to lowes
