I had to do my backyard landscaping quite abruptly last month. We’ve moved in to a brand new house with dirt backyard last July. I thought I would do the landscaping later on around summer time, but I got a new job in California and they wanted me to start right away, I had to do it quickly to put the house in the rental market before I leave.
As typical, I googled and selected 3 landscaping companies to get the quotes, and eventually, I got Dave to work on it. Dave was not the lowest bidder but my wife and I liked his presentation and design ideas overall. We also regard one’s character as important, and Dave gave us impression as someone we can trust and rely on. After we signed the contract, he found he has missed a couple items to include in the quote so the final price was lower than what it was supposed to be. He said it’s his mistake so would absorb the loss, but we felt it was not fair so increased the price to cover that portion. He appreciated it and we were happy as we knew we’ve already built a great customer/vendor relation before starting the job.
We could anticipate our backyard would turn out to be beautiful, and we were not wrong. I saw Dave put before/after pictures of my backyard on his web site, my wife was really sad as we had to leave so soon. His team leader, Wally, was a great guy and good manager. So comfortable to interact with, and he maintained good control of the scope and progress. We had lunch together during the several days period, everyone in the team was nice and friendly.
Dave and Wally became our friends. Should they visit LA area for vacation or something, they should stay in our place. Our rented home here is only about 30 minutes away from Disneyland anyway (without traffic of course, no one knows how long it would take with traffic.) We talked about Dave and Wally coming over and doing the landscaping when we purchase a new home here. It could be a week long project, possibly a combination of work and vacation, and we were serious! I wish we could have known them earlier, not just for the works but as friends. I highly recommend them, we already did so to a few friends of ours back in Albuquerque.
