I have been a customer of Big Splash since they opened the company. Form their customer service to their pool service, there is no one better. I have had heaters, liners and filters replaced, and they are reasonable and thorough. I will admit to being somewhat of a high maintenance customer (I am sure they will chuckle), but I am always treated with respect and they respond in a timely basis. When dealing with pool companies you would expect them to be impersonal and on there own time but that was not the case with Tom and his crew at Custom Pool Pros. We had our pool done by them and they were awesome. They showed up when we were told they would and did a great job at keeping me informed of how our project was proceeding. If I can give negative stars I would. I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO GO ELSEWHERE FOR YOUR POOL NEEDS. There are many qualified and experienced and PROFESSIONAL pool contractors in the area. Custom Pool Pros are not only unprofessional but will swindle you out of all your money and leave the project half finished and your property a mess. It has been nearly a year since Tom and his crew have "completed" my project and I am still paying thousands of dollars to clean up his mess. The breakdown of my horrific experience. 1.My original maximum budget was $75k and I ended up paying literally double that ($150k) The money was taken upfront at all times and Tom was nothing less than criminally abusive. He withheld work and materials that were already paid for and forced us to pay more and more upfront. 2.He yelled at me and treated me horrifically by calling me names and threatening me. 3. He broke nearly two pallets of marble that totaled $7000 and when I ran out of money he just left the patio half finished. Most of the tile he installed was cracked or uneven. 4. He would disappear for weeks on end. Project was completed almost 4months late and this was without fence installation and with an incomplete patio. 5. Once he "completed " the project and literally attacked me to the point that I was shaking and crying (with a dozen landscapers and other workers witnessing it all) he explained NOTHING to me about hot to use the equipment or how to manage chemicals. He promised (and of course lied) that a person would come and adjust chemicals and turn on the equipment after I filled the pool with water (which was a whole other issue, see below). The person (his friend) never showed until I tracked him down the next day and BEGGED him to come turn on my pool which was GREEN. 6. The tile in the pool was uneven and when inspected by other contractors was simply unacceptable. 7. The waterfalls were a whole other issue. The way they were installed and built made it so that a huge amount of water was lost when they were turned on causing the landscaping and patio to be flooded. Not to mention how much it cost to replace the lost water. I hired engineers to come and consult with me. Both of them said it was a tear down. When I complained to Tom he sent his crew (more than likely undocumented workers) to "fix" the problem. They did that by moving a loose rock in front of the flowing water. This did nothing and was another on the long list of unprofessional and skill-less attempts at construction. Finally my husband forced him to come back and his final solution was to build a fallic looking (I'm not joking) "wall" on the pool coping in order to direct the leaking water back into the pool. 8. Electrical was a whole other nightmare. He made me hire (when I say "made me" I mean that he threatened to not finish my project until the end of Summer (we hired him in the winter) if I didn't hire his guy) his friend who promised me the moon and stars and just plain scammed me and did subpar work and took tons of short cuts. So much so that the inspector came back FIVE times with violations and took months to approve the project. The promised electrical work was simply never completed and again I invited other licensed reputable electricians to inspect the work and they were all dumbfounded. 9. Patio is a disaster story. It is still not done because I can't find matching marble. He broke two pallets of marble and charged me $3700 per pallet! That was supposed to be materials and installation but he miscounted the patio size TWICE and I had to reorder and pay for materials and labor!! He broke two pallets worth of marble and not even the thought of removing the labor for those pallets crossed his mind. 10. Finally as a "thank you " he took a bobcat and spread the construction debris all over my lawn (about 1500sf)

We love the backyard that Tom & his team built for us. We hired Custom Pool Pros to build a pool and patio in after soliciting bids from four other high-end firms. We visited several of their projects (complete and in progress). These were large, complex, highly customized installations and we were satisfied that they could easily meet our more modest requirements (salt water, gunite, custom plaster, stone patio, waterfall, lighting). Constant communication was required to ensure that CPP understood what we expected and that we understood what the builder had actually committed to doing. There can be gaps even between two honest parties. The back and forth was sometimes frustrating but ensured a good outcome. After a year of living with the completed project, we're very happy with our decision to use Custom Pool Pros. P.S. After the last check had been written, a couple of problems became evident. At every step in the evaluation, troubleshooting, and resolution of these problems, Tom and his team were responsive and thorough. It's easy to mess up at this point, and they didn't.

My kids are at that age where they want to be on the Internet all the time. Trying to find activities that get them outside and keep them busy isn't easy. That's when I decided to make the most out of my backyard and get a new swimming pool installed. I went on the Internet and found a few pool designs that I thought would be perfect for the space but wasn't sure where to proceed after that. That's when I came across Custom Pool Pros and sent them an email. Out of all the New Jersey pool contractors I emailed they got back to me literally within minutes. They went through the pool building process with me step by step and really made me feel like I was in good hands. When Tom came out to the house we went over the space in the backyard, went through the measurements for the custom pool and he gave me a few possible pool designs that took advantage of the actual space I had to work with! He really understood where I was going with the pool but also made sure I was taking full advantage of the patio and landscape space as well. Tying the design and style together with the house itself was something I hadn't even really thought of. I can't tell you what an adventure it was for my kids and me when the swimming pool construction company started excavation and installation of the pool and patio. The team was professional, courteous and we had a great time during the entire process. Of all the NJ pools in the area my kids and I think ours is the best! My kids spent the entire summer and fall swimming in our new swimming pool and our house is now the cool place to come for all the kids in the neighborhood. My kids are active, happy and I have an incredible space outside for working, barbequing and relaxing. Tom was recommended to us by a close friend who said he did excellent work for them, and we had him repave our entire driveway with pavers. Tom was excellent throughout the entire process. He showed us various designs at his beautiful home office and then created a pattern that we really liked. The process was painless, the entire project was on time at a price that was competitive, and he stood behind the product and had fixed any issues we had, but really there were rarely any issues involved. In fact, to date there have been no issues. He has been available to discuss any concerns we have. I would recommend him highly to anybody who would like to get their patio paved.

This company will not even talk to you if your project is not over $100,000. They make you feel like your $85,000 budget is junk and not worth them speaking to you. Too many other installers out there... Go elsewhere !!!

Do you want a horrible and unprofessional job done? Do you want to be told (weekly) that your initial budget will need to be extended? Do you want to HUNT your pool men down (dozens and dozens of calls, texts, emails) for something simple like... doing their job? Do you want to be lied to? Talked down to (several occasions where Tom has yelled and talked down to a customer paying thousands of dollars for a pool)? Do you want your personal items to be broken without any acknowledgement ($7000 worth of marble was broken by Tom's workers)? Considering over $150k was spent on the pool, there were certain expectations of the pool company. Doing their job (by the date that was promised) was one of them! Well, then you came to the right place! Please beware of thee people! Don't choose them for your pool!

Tom and his workers always arrived on time, did everything they were supposed to do, cleaned up at the end of every day, and built an amazing pool in our backyard.
