I wish I had just taken the recommendation of a friend here to start elsewhere.
The selection of indoor plants is fine. I've had mine for a couple of months and they're thriving.
The customer service is dismal. I went in to find a new pot to fit the growth of a plant I previously bought from there.
No one offered me help and it wasn't particularly busy. This must have been why an employee was comfortable enough to jokingly question as to why we, the customers, were not all in the Hamptons (on Memorial Day).
I went to pay and saw that they were filling out the dates on the coupons they hand out with purchases. I mentioned I had forgotten mine and they said they couldn't help me with a discount (of 10%) unless I had it because they track it. That's fair, though I've worked retail before and know that most customers don't ask for our receive discounts and it's generally easy to provide exceptions to those who earnestly ask (especially return customers). So I didn't protest. And then the woman processing my transaction didn't give me one of the new coupons that was right next to her. She also balked at my request to bag my new ceramic pots separately.
As a result, I feel like this place doesn't value return customers. I don't feel compelled to return, especially given that they'll joke within earshot that they'd rather their customers be elsewhere.
Response to the reply:
I wasn't offered help when looking at the selection of pots. After hearing one of the staff joke about how he'd rather customers be in the Hamptons, I wanted to oblige by purchasing my pots and leaving. While transacting, I was fairly denied a discount, which I previously acknowledged, but wasn't given a new coupon to return with. These events in combination made it seem as though my business wasn't of value and that returning to this store wasn't something the sales staff wanted.
