Blue Diamond Star Nursery Rock Yard people are THIEVES. Watch out when they are getting your initial gross weight on their scale. They will measure your weight without the driver in the car then after you get your materials like flagstone, and drive back to the scale, they will add your body weight to the total gross. Good thing I caught them after 2 trips and got my refund. They seemed so casual about it like its a normal thing. I feel it happens to unsuspecting customers all the time. Be very cautious should you need anything from this place. Ask them about it also. If the initial weight is with your body weight or not. Believe me, they are so fast that you will not even notice it. Manager said sorry when he gave the refund. I asked him what their system was but he just basically shrugged his shoulders. Said they got a system. Yeah, a system to steal money from people by being quick on their hands. Sticky fingers encouraged by the manager himself.

This place was in disrepair when I visited. A door was swinging around in the wind because there was no way to anchor it to the concrete. Trees had fallen over and were blocking a path. Many of the labels on the gravel sample boxes were missing. Nice selection of boulders and yard tools though.

Customer service is horrible .When you call they put you on hold forever . They need to have a system that communicates with all the stores as in a live inventory .So they can tell customers what is in their inventory . Also this complaint is with all of their locations because they do not followup with the phone calls and whoever answers the phones answers and then they transfer you and then you listen to music forever and one time I called I was on hold for 33 minutes and no one ever came back online to check . Remember this a customer that calls on the phone is just as important as a customer who visits in person and should be treated the same .

I have shopped here for years. Their choices and knowledge of plantings have allowed me to create my own oasis in this harsh desert. They have a great variety. Best overall prices. But, without exaggeration or hyperbole, they have THE WORSE RETURN POLICY of any store in Vegas Valley , or online. They have a way of making you feel you did something wrong and unless you purchase all of their supplement products for your plants they are hesitant of granting your refund. It is the most uncomfortable part of my long term relationship with Star Nursery.

I'm reviewing from a rookie plant person looking to purchase some indoor house plants that I've researched from the interwebs... Service: When you enter, you pick up a wagon or the bigger cart to get your plants and etc shopping going on. They're staffed well so there's always someone pretty close if you need assistance. Check out has always been pretty quick as the scan gun makes for an efficient experience. Inventory: The indoor houseplants section is extremely comprehensive and had all the air cleaning indoor plants I was looking for: Snake Plant/Mother in law's tongue, Spider plant, Areca Palm, Golden Pothos, Lucky Bamboo and a Money Tree. They had them all in different sizes/pots variations to provide maximum flexibility for my plant set up. Speaking of which, the pots section is conveniently located next to the indoor plants. I was lucky enough to stumble across a 50% off sale on all pots so I went to town. Star Nursey is dangerous to me like Costco is: I go in with the intention of picking up a couple of essentials and walk out saying 'why did I buy so much' This is a good and bad thing but also the main reason why I'll swing by here for my plant needs as I continue my new hobby. Great for Christmas Trees! For 7 years we bought our tree from the makeshift place at St. Rose and Coronado Center. Went there this year and they changed... they won't post prices and have an employee follow you everywhere. Yuk. So we went to Star. Wow!!! Lower prices, better and fresher trees, great service. Next year we'll go straight to Star Nursery.

Ask for help getting a 15 gal. tree. Gotta cart was the reply from the worker. Put tree on cart and walked away. There was a time when Star personnel would load the tree and push it up to the check out and finally load it into your vehicle. No more. Service here sucks. I guess the management figure they have the nursery business locked up and don't need to offer service. Guess what. They are wrong. I'll shop elsewhere in the future.

Horrible customer service. First time I went there to start growing tomatoes. The lady had me buy the big black plastic containers which in Vegas summer heat was a bad idea. The tomatoes fried.. Went back earlier today to look at hedges. Sat in the outside sales area near their information booth for 30 minutes waiting for help. Not one worker came by. I called the store thinking someone will come to answer the phone. 5 minutes on hold and no one showed up. I called back and said I have been waiting 30 minutes as well as other people are. Waited 5 more minutes and still no one showed up. After 40 minutes of frustration I decided to leave, As I'm leaving you have easily 10 + workers at the cash registers doing god knows what and another 5-8 outside talking with each other. I will never go to this star nursery again. Horrible customer service in person and over the phone. I would of had better luck picking up one the illegal mexicans outside and paying them to help me at star nursery.

After spend years at big box stores, Star Nursery is a wonderful place to go to. I got tired of trying to find what I needed at other "home improvement stores". If you need good quality irrigation parts and people that actually know what they're talking about (and want to be at their job) head to Star. I've always encountered nice, friendly staff. When starting a project in our backyard I was concerned about purchasing plants for our backyard. We spoke with master gardener Mary and she gave us a tour of the plants for about an hour! We decided on some plants to compliment a planter we had built near our flagstone patio (flagstone also came from Star, great selection!). I will be coming back to star whenever I need supplies or advice.

Large nursery at back of building w/ large selection of outdoor plants looks neat & clean. A metal stand in front of each group of plants carries a label w/ the plant name, general information about the plant & regular price as well as special sale price. Plants look healthy & well cared for. Didn't see any staff outside who could offer any customer assistance. Inside a huge building are aisles of planting supplies, tools & anything plant related. There's a good selection of indoor plants also. The place is organized & clean. Staff at check out was fast & friendly. Parking lot w/ plenty of free parking. I didn't see any shopping carts but would be nice if they could provide regular shopping carts. They do have the flat plant carts & red wagons but doesn't look like they have enough for all the customers. I had to hand-carry three 6-gallon pots from out back into the building to pay for them.

Star is a part of Las Vegas. They have been around forever. You can usually find what you need here. Great selection of plants, trees, shrubs... Very helpful staff. they also carry everything you need for fertilizers, irrigation, and almost anything else related to planting. They even have Ahern rental right in this store. It's not the only good plant Nursery in town, but I always go here first and don't usually need a second stop.

I'm not really sure what a lot of these comments are talking about I picked up gardening at the beginning of the year and Star Nursery has been my go-to place every other day....i did not have to spend thousands of dollars, but i did because they were there any time i visited over the last nine months and I couldn't be happier with the type of service and the selection this particular location has to offer... management is phenomenal and the support staff is equally as good I also like the fact that you can take back all your old planter buckets and change them for store credit. Ive saved tons of money in this way. Thanks again for the great work and keep it up... Ps-i just was wondering how i could go about selling some of my decorative rock. After spending thousands during past 4 years in this store, my latest experience was a disaster, purchased over $600 on trees on August 12th, one of the them was dying, after my landscaper tried to bring it back few times, tried to return the tree for exchange within the 30 days period; was confronted with very rude and confrontational so called Manager ( Isidro) , that very rudely refused to do the exchange and told me it is what it is , he makes the decisions. I own multiple auto repair shops in the valley and understand the value of customer service. Will never buy from STAR NURSERY again, even if it cost more elsewhere. This guy ISIDRO, wouldn’t last a day in one of my stores for the way he treated long-standing customer.

Star Nursery truck, last Thursday was speeding down Southern Highlands Pkwy. and passed a school bus which had stopped, with flashers going, Stop signs out, and 30 or 40 kids off loading. He didn't slow down. Since I stopped, I never caught up to him to get a license plate. This happened about 3:40pm Thursday April 27th. I'll send this to Star Corp, and hope to hear back from them, but that is doubtful.

I was very disappointed today been shopping with star for years and never have been treat as poorly as I was today I was over charged for a few thing I purchased they did make a few things right that I was over charged for but I still felt like me receipt was not right so I went back to speak with manager who told me that the things on the receipt were Irrelevant and didnt not matter or me anything I work customer service too and if I told a customer that anything thing they were saying or felt were Irrelevant I would be fired the customer isn't always right but you also dont make your customers feel like they are in the wrong I will never shop this star ever again and will make sure that no I know shop here either because all the way down from the manger to the cashiers they will over charge you then tell you it Irrelevant that they did so being I'm irrelevant I guess so is my business

Most of the guys out back are friendly and helpful but the kids up front are fairly useless and resent you (they don't know that it's the customer that provides their paycheck). I found the prices to be lower on most plants but not all.

Star Nursery is Star Nursery - they've been around forever, they're everywhere you need them to be (7 locations in Vegas), and have just about anything you need that's yard-related - all at very good prices (when compared to Lowe's, Home Depot). I go to this location during lunch because it's right across the street from where I work. This location seems larger than the Blue Diamond and Cheyenne locations so the parking lot could be full and you still won't be running into people. This location always seems busy but, regardless, any staff I've spoken to are still very helpful, patient, and nice. My regular location is the Blue Diamond store and the reason I like it so much is because there are folks that have worked there for years. I'm sure this location is the same so why not become a regular and build a relationship?

If you ever want to handle anything with these people You are better off driving down there and doing so. I sat on hold for 35 minutes for absolutely nothing. I placed an order 8 days ago for delivery that was suppose be to delivered in the morning. Rock and sand showed up on time early but no pavers. The customer service here is garbage. Why offer a service if you can't hold up your end and actually deliver your product on time or tell me when it will be here. This is very inconvenient and will probably end up costing me more money and wasted time because this company couldn't get the job done and delivered on time.

I was told this location could have the trees I was looking for. I usually go to a different location,but before driving across town I wanted to make sure. I was on hold over 40 minutes. Had to hang up several times to call back to see if the person I was holding for forgot about me and if another person could help. Again on hold forever. So the third time I asked to speak to a manager who could care less saying they're slammed in the back... Why wansnt I told they were busy and to please hold for an hour... I wish if they're so busy they could call us back or at the very least let a potential customer know they were busy. It's not good business ethics to keep someone on hold in the dark. I have no idea if they're busy or if they just don't care. What a horrible experience. When someone calls and are told to hold while they check they don't just suppose you could be busy when no one ever said anything. They need a different tactic if they're busy to first let the person know, second come back and let them know they appreciate their holding forever and/or get information and return the call. They lost my business.

Stat,Star, Star....first I am a happy transplant from Chicago,Il. Star has the best price and plants for that price that I have ever seen. Moon even when the have those major advertising jokes, still cant match Star prices. Advice....buy small in one gallon containers, easier to plant, less expensive and in 1 YEAR you will be hard pressed to tell them from 5 gallon container. Most important prepare the soil, I would be irritated if I were your plant and you tried to put me in the ground in what you call "soil" make the plant happy and augment the "soil" you have. Remember these are your plants you are putting in the ground, they need to be nurtured just like you kids. They can't talk but if you spend some time with them you may notice discoloration, browning, veins popping.....these are signs something is not right. Investigate for your benefit and the plants... have a great day

Choosing my very first Christmas tree couldn't have been more enjoyable. With patience of a saint, Marco listened to my but..., what if..., is it?...nope not that one...well maybe... Jesus was right there giving me every view of each tree I pondered. Of course, ya gotta love a female's perspective like Erica's! Last but not at all least, Tanner and Ryan prepared my tree for travel and even put on my tree stand!! They chuckled with my tree selfies and low and behold find out Tanner went to middle school where I was his librarian. *sigh* The whole team truly made my experience special and for that I am most grateful. Skinny guy driving loader at rock yard , seriosly this guy needs to find another job , i go there almost every day , and he always mad , he looks angry and acts angry ,, today i was trying to tell him what i wanted but he didnt listen , so i wisteld and he turned arround all mad and got off the machine .. And came to me ,, i think he wanted to hit me o something ....seriosly this guy is not happy on this job.

I am writing this review regarding my visit today November 6, 2016, to Star Nursery on Blue Diamond. Before I begin, I have to say that I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of plants and material from that location with no issue. However, today after the way I was treated, I can say I will surely take my business elsewhere. I come down today to return 4 plants that died several months after purchase (they had a one year warranty). I came to Bethany at the counter. She could not fathom why we were there to return these plants. She insinuated that we were just plain stupid people who had no business taking care of plants and called her manager. The manger came to the counter already upset about some other issue. The manager asked us how much water we had given the plant and we had told her that we had given the Desert Willos enough water. She did not believe us and told us that the Desert Willow needs one (1) hour of watering. Which we know is incorrect. She intructed Bethany to process the return and she did. We went to the back to look for another plant. We picked up another plant to buy and took it to the counter where unfortunately Bethany greeted us rudely and started looking for the name of the plant on a list. I told her I could go to the back to get the name of the plant for her and she told me that "I could wait". Several minutes passed she did not find the name of the plant. I went to the back to speak to a gentleman who was very nice but looked at me like he knew that they did not know what they were doing at the front. He came down with me and told Bethany the name of the plant. When Bethany ran the transaction she ran it for much more than the total amount. She told me that she needed to see the original receipt from my return transaction (which was a a totally different transaction). I gave her the original receipt from the return. She was nervous and I realized that she was trying to charge me over $50.00 over the value of my purchase since she had made a mistake during the return. All they had to do is tell me there had been a mistake but she underhandedly tried to get it back. I told her I was done I did not want to buy anything further. She then again treated us very rudely and told us "your welcome" in a condescending manner as if your welcome for them giving me $50.00. Needless to say, I will not be coming back there and I surely hope that this is not their new standard of treating people.

I like this Star Nursery and the majority of employees are nice. But One day i decided to call on the phone to put aside some plants and I needed and they passed to the most rude employee ever!!! Before they passed me to him this girl answered and she heard me perfectly with no trouble but when she passed to this rude guy i was disappointed. When they passed me to him i was like " Hi how are you? I had a quick question" and he answered back "I CANT HEAR YOU! So i decided to speak a little louder and he continued "I CANT HEAR YOU! SPEAK LOUDER! YOU SOUND FAR AWAY!!" It was rude! Please put a person who has good customer service. Also they dont care if they put you on hold for more than 30 mins to an hour.

This customer service at this location has gone down hill over the past several months. The kids who work there mostly are not knowledgeable and have no courtesy. For example, Kylie at the cash register never says thank you or please swipe your card. Two really tall kids (girl with long hair and a guy) have no idea where anything is located and did not get the three trees I wanted to purchase after I asked for assistance........they acted truly disappointed that I needed help, consequently they disappeared. 20 minutes later a male hispanic worker gladly assisted me with the trees when I asked him to help.

I go to Star reluctantly because the service is terrible but have things I can't get at HD. The teenage stoners they hire as cashiers are dreadful. If it was closer, I would shop at Plant World. But I'm not so this has been my stomping ground. Also, it's hit and miss whether a price on a particular item is better than HD.

Great selection, good prices, and wonderful employees. Only 4 stars because getting help can be a chore. It is a popular place and there are not enough people to help you so you spend a lot of time standing around if you need help. If you know what you want, however, it's a great place to find what you're looking for.

To the Manager of Star Nursery. It is about time that you should know this issue, on your rockyard please tell your staff over there to answer the phone, it is ok to be put on hold for 5-10 minutes but you are putting customers on hold for 30-45 minutes, either u forgot to come back on the phone or i dont know why. Do u need customers? Your customer service (answering phone calls are too busy i guess).
