Phillips Garden did a full backyard remodel in summer 2015 - turned our crappy amateur patio, half-century-old cement walkway, and weed-infested lump green space into a beautiful bluestone garden paradise. They were very patient with our changing desires & budget, and were extremely thorough and diligent getting the project done (early!). The designers came up with a wonderful creative "circle" design to leverage our topography, and the garden folks planted 600 (!) perennials in beautiful ways that enhanced our vision. Their build & maintenance staff are all pros - it was a wonderful project, and we still use them on an annual basis. Wonderful artists all.

I chose the guys at Phillips Garden to create a proper water shedding slope on all side of my mom's house. In the process they had to remove two 6inch thick slabs of cement (which they busted up by hand) applied a water sealing rubber skirt around a leaky well head cover, created new slopes with black dirt, dug and installed a new window well, and finished up with a layer of shredded cedar mulch. These guys were right on time, cheerful, smart, and it was clear to me that they cared about the quality of their work. Done in one day! I would not hesitate to recommend them and look forward to working with them again. Thanks guys.

Phillips Garden did a fabulous job on a steep, sunny slope. Tyler designed a retaining wall, bluestone capped knee wall surrounding a patio and cantilevered pergola, solving the overheating problem in our adjoining 3 season porch. We had additional garden areas created and many plants, trees and bushes were installed. We were delighted with the creativeness of the design.

This is a bizarre outfit. I had them out to take a look at my place. Three of them arrived and we talked for a couple of hours. I had the impression that we had had a good meeting. We agreed that they would design a patio on the side of my property. They told me they would get ideas together and then contact me. I waited for a couple of weeks, thinking they were working up a design. Finally, I contacted them at which point they informed me that they did not want to work with me because I had previously contacted another landscaper. I am not certain if this was the true reason, as that landscaper was working on another part of the property, or if the size of my project was too large (I have 50+ acres and they usually work on urban lots). Anyway, I would not recommend contacting this company, as this interaction, for me, was rather unpleasant.

After meeting with several landscaping designers, we ultimately chose to work with Phillips Gardens because not only do they have an excellent reputation for design they also perform the installation as well. We are so pleased with the results! They provided us with an enjoyable design experience, and we're willing to work with us to stage the construction to help keep us closer to our budget (allowing us to complete some of the work ourselves over the coming years). We had very specific goals for this Mid-Century Modern home, and they met all of them! From the floating concrete staircase (that everyone else said could not be done) to the reuse of the old limestone retaining wall that they rebuilt (watching those guys work on that wall most of the summer was mesmerizing as they pieced it together - kudos for the determination it took to do that). Other components of our project included a corten steel retaining wall, concrete driveway, two gravel patios, and numerous trees/shrubs/native grasses. We regularly have people tell us how much they love the new landscaping (including the FEDEX driver that pulled up one day not to deliver packages but just to say how great it looks). Tyler was super easy to work with, and Thomas and his team really did a great job on the installation. Not only were they meticulous about the work, everyone was extremely friendly and pleasant. We highly recommend Phillips Gardens.

I would not recommend Phillips for installation of bushes or trees. The trees we had them professionally install were planted to deep and 3 of 5 died/drown in the first year. Even the remaining trees look as if they may not make it. The base of the tree is clearly slightly lower than the surrounding ground instead of slightly elevated. They came out and looked at the result and have not responded to multiple requests to discuss what took place on our project.
