This Gardener belongs to the category of Botanical garden.
Second time to see the gardens. Tremendous new gardens to see great new visitors center, new cafe and market for many lunch options. Great spot for all even if not into gardens.
This place is awesome! You can't rush this.it's a miss see! Next time we are in the Maine area we will be going back it's that good.I can't wait to see what they do next.Love the sculptures too.I would advise to take the hour your guide well worth it.Lots of behind the seens stuff
One of the bigger botanical gardens that I have ever been to, with extensive collection of flowers, trees and shrubs from all around the world. The staff have always been friendly and willing to go an extra mile to answer your questions and show you around the garden. Without hesitation bought a season pass and will absolutely get the most use our of it.
This is a wonderful botanical garden- it all looks new and lovely. It is incredibly well designed for children- with a forested area for them to build fairy houses, a treehouse, and a number of adorable, well built structures with green roofs. Gorgeous and fun!
An incredible experience. We've been coming back every year and it continues to grown. Happy to have this in Maine. Well worth spending the day. Very well planned out and easily accessible.
Wonderful place to visit! A lot to do and see for everyone in the family!
Has that Maine Magical charm!! Beautiful gardens with flowers & plants that captures the essence of Maine. Wonderful place to hike & enjoys tropical forests. Lots to do with all the family. Highly Recommend it, but bring some bug spray.
Beautifully tended garden with many different biomes and lots of things blooming at the end of July. The Caterpillar Lab was wonderful with a dozen types of caterpillars munching on their favorite plants in planters or tree branches in vases, some amazingly camouflaged, others with brilliant warning colors. The caretakers were super excited to tell you all about them and even brought some gorgeous moths out of their cages for close up photo ops.
Soo beautiful and the trails are fun to walk around.
CMBG continues to amaze. Accessible and well designed with a surprise around every corner. Best children's garden in America.
Quite a first class garden. A treat not to be missed when in the midcoast area!
This is a beautiful garden. Even in mid September, it seemed at full bloom. The parking lot indicated that they could see some crowds in the summer, but today it was quiet and peaceful. So many wonderful flowers. The hydrangeas were especially showy.
We went for the winter light show. We went when it was rainy so it was not very busy and we had a great time! Lots of beautiful displays. I think the cafe left a little bit to be desired but didn't really change the mood. Staff was fantastic and very friendly.
Beautiful hardscape, bridges, and sculptures. Love the butterfly station--so many caterpillars! Layout is fun, needs a bit more signage, so you can find your way out. Beautiful plantings. Looking forward to visiting in future years to see growth.
Peaceful, calming, enjoyable afternoon visit. Beautiful flowers, educational, interactive exhibits and knowledgeable staff. Did the afternoon tea--awesome! So worth doing.
Very pretty. A wonderful mix of forest hiking and well tended gardens. The kids area is fantastic, and there are a lot of hidden paths to explore.
Simply fantastic. A definite must-see for people visiting the area. Get ready to be there for 3 hours and doing a lot of walking.. Bring a sun hat and bug spray for sure. There is a cafe and a market where you can buy lunch items like wraps or salads and there are gift items as well.
Just Amazing! Even after a bomb cyclone it was one of the best botanical gardens I've been to.
Such fun. Mosquitoes were awful. Food at quick cafe was over-priced and under-nutritious. Shuttle was nice when walking was too much. Lot of construction going on was distracting. Children's garden and fairy village was wonderful!
Such a beautiful garden with a gray childrens area. If you are in the area, don't miss out on this treat.
This place is amazing and was the highlight of my trip to Booth Bay Harbor.
Nice morning visit, not crowded. Diversity of plant life.
Was a bit hesitant as the price was a bit higher than we thought it would be but absolutely loved the gardens. Beautiful areas with winding pathways. We aren't big into gardening and nature type walks but really did enjoy our time here.
Wonderful light show. Little pricey, but that's my thought. Lot of walking so be prepared. Coffee, hot drinks and food available. Nice gift store. Parking for events can be waiting. Overall, great night for kids family. Be prepared for weather...it's all outside!
CMBG is right up there with any of the big city gardens, probably better than most.
Great park. We couldn't see it alm in the time we had but it was special. We will be back
No trip to the Boothbay Harbor Region is complete without a few hours here. I love the children’s garden and the 5 senses garden.
Nice place with loads of things to see!
Awesome place to visit, walk and enjoy the beauty of nature. Great activities fir kids of all ages and amazing volunteers with tons of info! A MUST see!
If you like big beautiful gardens this is the place to go. There is a pleasant trail to walk along a river as well.
Serenely beautiful. Natural Maine flora at it's best. Lots of walking. Bring bug spray.
Amazing variety of plantings and settings. Loved the 5 senses garden and meditation garden the most. Lots of information.
Beautiful gardens and a great walk! Loved the dahlia garden.
Large, well landscaped botanical garden. All exhibits are outdoors; so no tropicals. We visited in spring; so many plants were in bloom. Looks like facilities have recently been expanded. We also had a very enjoyable lunch at their cafe. Recommended
Such a gorgeous place to spend the day. Weather was beautiful and the staff was beyond friendly! One of my favorite places to visit!
Beautiful!!! In all my years living in Maine, never saw anything so Beautiful!!!
Beautiful gardens could have spent the whole day if it hadn't rained
We came there on early October. It is a beautiful place but i was a lil bit disappointed because i expected a lot better based on the reviews.
Beautiful, clean, very informative. We had a wonderful couple of hours there.
Beautiful grounds. Children's section had so much for young ones to do that they didn't want to leave
Great place. Nice hiking trails. Well maintained.
We enjoyed the beautiful trails and the flowers were exquisite. Would recommend this as a must see if you get to Boothbay.
Beautiful place to visit any time of year.
Spent a lovely morning in their gardens. Couldn't have been better.
The lighting around the tree trunks is magical
Perfect for everyone. My favorite part is the fairy garden in the children's section.
A must-see in the winter and summer months. Gardens aglow in the winter is an incredible display of lights and during the summer there are beautiful flowers to see and things to do
I highly recommend this tour! It is a lovely place to stroll and observe nature! I am a supporter!
They had a free day a few weeks ago for artists who brought materials and made art of thd gardens--Plein Air Art Day. The gardens were lush. Streams flowing. Food excellent!
One of the best gardens I’ve seen. Improving every year, well kept up, and a favorite of my family.
Love visiting this place in the summer and winter! They do great with the upkeep, have lots of variety and interesting local plants. You can learn a lot in a single visit. The winter lights are always spectacular, though a bit crowded. Well worth the visit.
We went to Gardens Aglow for the first time. It will become a tradition. Absolutely beautiful!
First time visiting when it's not winter and Gardens Aglow is going on. The gardens are beautiful even when the weather isn't perfect. The staff is super friendly and helped up out with a few of our questions and concerns.
Don’t skip this place. It’s so beautiful! There are so many interesting things to do for everyone! The stuff is very friendly!
Gorgeous varieties. I got ideas for my own garden at home. I specially love the vertical garden ideas and the children's garden the best. They also have very good salads and wraps at the cafe.
Amazing experience. Loved the butterflies, moths and caterpillars. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Smoothies are delicious. Beautiful job on the gardens. I manage a landscape company and was thoroughly impressed and would highly recommend this to anyone. Beautiful combination of annuals and perennials. Loved the layout of the gardens
I love this place. It's beautiful and great to visit during all seasons. My kid and and I can easily spend a whole day there during warm and nice weather. There is a nice cafe, but I think bringing a packed lunch would be great.
Great day out in Maine. Superb for kids with lots of space to run and play and sections aimed specifically at them. So many beautiful trees and flowers. Great for learning about new plants for your garden. Useful also if you live nearby to check how well your own garden is getting on compared to the pros!
Beautiful flowers and landscape. We enjoyed our stroll thru the grounds.
Beautiful day, beautiful walk and beautiful flowers and vegetation
It was a good experience. Beautiful lighting, lots of people from everywhere, but for the prices they can do better. We also order hot chocolate because it was very cold.
Beautiful place to visit. Family entertainment
I was part of the Master Plan team in 2003-5 and have visited the place 4 times since then. Last time was about 3 years ago at Christmas. Visited a few days ago, and the place has MASSIVELY grown in the past couple years! It looks GREAT and many of the flowers were in bloom during this visit!
I enjoyed seeing all the flowers. I did not go see everything because there is a lot more walking then I realized. They are currently working on the entrance walkthrough area so that was a little disappointing that I did not get to see the butterfly area. Be prepared to hike if you want to go to the outskirts areas or take boat tours. Overall it's a good place to go. However I feel it's a bit over priced for what you get
Completely and udderly delightful. Stunning floral and wonderful trails along the water. Not to miss.
Something for boys Cal let vers and kids area is awesome. Take a hike to the fairy village and you'll find a cool retreat among the trees next to the waters. I almost got locked in! I waited for the bus but it never came close to closing. Only suggestion have someone go around a few times near closing before locking up. People are tired from heat and the day so they maybe waiting at those stops. I was there at the last pick up but it didn't run.
A quaint garden with many different styles represented over a short distance. A nice stop on the way up to Acadia!
One of the best Gardens in New England. Always worth the drive.
This was a lovely stop on our trip to Boothbay Harbor. Very well laid-out and beautifully designed gardens, well worth visiting.
A fantastic gardens which is constantly being improved. The garden of the senses is worth a visit on its own
Loved this place! Brought two 3-year old boys and my 9-year old daughter here in May. We had a great time. Lots of walking, but unique and beautiful scenery at every turn. Will definitely be back to see the spots we missed!
This place is alright, but the entrance fee ($18) is a little steep. There are different areas to see and different paths in the woods to check out. The area is well maintained and big, although the variety of flowers I saw was fewer than I expected.
Spent the day here and didn't see nearly enough. Take the boat cruise if you can - we loved the quiet coves and seals. Lunch on site was delicious!
I loved botanical gardens and visiting ones outside my normal climate/conditions is always a treat! This one, in particular, is exceptional. I loved the balance between planned and manicured landscapes with wild and unfussy woods. The children’s garden and sensory garden are my top sections, but it was all so beautiful and well tended. I can’t believe how much I want to go back to see it again!

10 stars, not just 5! only spent 4 hours, could spend all day, easy. fabulous place.
Delightful mix of native and non-native plants in well designed woodlands setting.
The staff and volunteers were so genuinely friendly. Surely the most eco-conscious botanical garden I've ever been too - which I appreciate. The trails are A+.
Every time I go here I am impressed. The spring, summer, and fall have wonderful displays and beautiful examples of flora and fauna. The winter is known for the gardens a glow and that did not disappoint! The staff here are kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. They have kid friendly areas where they encourage you to touch, and explore! I highly recommend making this a stop if you are in the area.
Absolutely beautiful grounds. A photographers delight. So soothing for the soul.
Inspiring and breathtaking. The hardscaped areas are imaginative, and beautifully presented, with loads of natural and secluded areas to enjoy. Rock slabs are used interestingly and creatively all over the facility. The blooms are spectacular to behold, and are easy to access and appreciate The paths and labeling make it easy for every visitor to appreciate. Golf cart shuttles are frequent and available to all visitors should the walking or heat get to be too much. The more natural coastal path areas are a joy to visit. I would recommend this destination to all!
Always spectacular! The kids loved the treehouse and play garden and we loved see all the ideas for design in our home gardens.
Fall may not be the best time to go. A lot of effort has gone into the development.
Absolutely stunning! The time and effort people have put into designing and maintaining these gardens is obvious. There's such a variety here, from garden paths to little hiking trails.
Very beautiful well taken care of gardens a must see
This place is so nice, you could even enjoy it on a rainy day.
A magical treasure for all ages!!
Good... if not fantastic. But when it rains and they lock us i to a building because of lightening, well we should get a coupon for 1/2 off next visit ir something. Maybe a coupon for the gift shop?
Lights aglow was absolutely wonderful. We have gone for two years in a row and I can tell you it's worth it every time. The new welcome center is a great addition to an already beautiful property. Definitely worth taking the time to go. Definitely romantic for a couple.
So much to see and you can go at your own pace.
So different everytime we visit but always beautiful and inspiring
Indoor/outdoor manicured gardens which has grown to awesome status over the years. Exhibits for adults and plenty of kids stuff too.
Still developing but still really cool. Butterfly house was a highlight, with very knowledgeable docents to teach you about the butterflies and moths and answer questions. I really enjoyed the Maine woods trail, waterfall at the rhododendron and the amazing stonework everywhere but especially in the meditation garden. Would recommend bringing bug spray though!
What a beautiful place to walk around. The grounds are amazing an there is so much to see. Plants from around the world...it was breath taking.
Such a beautiful and great place. Loved the caterpillar lab and children’s garden.
I've been to a number of Botanical gardens in several cities but this one truly stands out. Located in the middle of the forest and also along the shore you can get lost walking through numerous paths and trails. A huge area is dedicated to kids, my 3 year old loved it. This garden also features some interesting sculptures adding to the appeal and marvel of this place.
Great. Need to go multiple times per year
Beautiful and diverse gardens. Children's garden is top notch and interactive for the little ones! Highly recommend a visit.
Great place, amount of work out in to it it's amazing
Wow really has developed since my last visit. "State of the art" visitors center. Not sure why I saw so many annuals in the flower beds. Temporary mayb?
Spectacular! Give yourself time to explore this place at a leisurely pace. Also wear good shoes and bring some bottled water and bug spray.
Place is beautiful in the winter time. The lights and the feeling is otherworldly, and they do a fantastic job putting it together. Was worth the money
A beautiful walk through various habitats of plants. We enjoyed the floral and the fauna!
Gorgeous!! How do they get the plants to thrive so well? Also everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Loved the caterpillar learning center and the fairy garden spot was great. Lovely walking paths and wonderful kids area.
One of the most beautiful gardens in New England.
Beautiful at any time of year! Plantings are amazing and volunteers are always happy to tell you about the plants.

Beautiful grounds too enjoy for all four seasons!
We had such a nice visit here! The grounds are beautifully kept, with lots to explore. Although I was not there with children, I noticed that they had nice activities for children to take part in, which is a nice bonus. They also seemed to be working on expanding the grounds, making it bigger and better in the future. Really lovely.
Because I was short on time, I only saw about a third of it. I definitely plan to visit again on a future trip to Maine. If you have the stamina, allow most of a day for your visit. Otherwise, plan on several shorter visits to keep your energy up. I saw a lot of butterflies and caterpillars on the grounds, not just in the butterfly display.
All 212 acres were lovely. Trolleys are available but I walked. All the gardens were thoughtfully designed. I walked past the children's garden and circled back to look a the house with the living roof, fish pond and all the little details like the fence posts shaped like cats. I spent a delightful day and my only regret was that I couldn't attend the Hog island.
Very beautiful, pleasant place to chill out. When I am there I feel like I am in a tranquil state of mind. Also, the dining room has fabulous food. The volunteers are to be commended.
I rarely give 5 stars to anything, but this place is awesome and I'm not a flower guy
This garden keeps on growing, growing, and growing! Make sure that you wear very comfortable shoes.
Loved this outside garden. So many ideas for hardscaping. Beautiful to meander, hike or a shuttle if needed. Plenty of well paved and marked paths for accessibility as well.
A good time was had by all, from my in-laws down to the smallest nephew age 9 months. The 3 and 5 year olds enjoyed all the activities afforded to them while the adults were able to enjoy the flowers and relaxing company.
It's such an incredible garden. The area it covers is huge. The layout is beautiful and it's a wonderful place to spend the day. I love it in the summer and during the winter when the gardens are all lit up is absolutely magical.
Really enjoyed our visit today, walked all the trails, through all the gardens, spent about 3 hours, and bought sandwiches at the market for lunch. The gardens are amazing. My 9yo daughter really liked all of it, especially the 5 senses garden, the tree house, and the fairy village.
This is a gorgeous, thoughtfully planned out botanical garden with many engaging exhibits for kids and adults. The trees need another 20 years to mature, but otherwise I love everything about this place!
Very good layout and the people are very knowledgeable.
Stunning gardens! Absolutely recommend spending an afternoon here enjoying the beautiful design and scenery!
I love this place, the grounds are gorgeous, it is so peaceful and there is something of interest for everyone. The Caterpillar and moth section is very educational. Great place for little kids to wander, explore and play.
Beautiful light display! I would like this to become a yearly tradition. I should have worn waterproof boots and a scarf, but the recent weather should have had me well warned. Acres of amazing lights and well done fairy houses. Their fairies have great winter digs. And I feel the parking lot was well organized.
Amazing botanic gardens! We visited in early September and the gardens were full of flowers and bees and butterflies! If you're allergic to bees be sure to bring an epi pen just in case. For the most part they are much more interested in the flowers than you. This is definitely worth a stop on your way to Acadia or even it's own trip.
Oh my, oh my. it is simply beautiful. I recommend you visit.
Always beautiful and always new. Gorgeous scenery changes weekly and is expertly landscaped with wonderful signs explaining the variety of plants/ educational material along the way.
This place was amazing. Over 200 acres of beautiful plants. Really well laid out.
Do not miss! Easy access, lots of parking. And the gardens are a joy.
We enjoyed gardens in late September. Still plenty to see. Nice hiking trail.
One of the most beautiful botanical gardens in the world, plain and simple.
Absolutely GORGEOUS! Miles of walking trails surrounded by the most incredible flowers, trees, plants, ponds, and wildlife. Would be a perfect place to propose (or even have a wedding!), or just to get out and explore for the day. I will be back every season!
It changes every year. I go twice a year. It is spectacular every season, but the light display in winter is an annual must.
Amazing ..the buildings and hardscape, the staff, the plantings, are all lovely Definitely worth doing.
Had a wonderful day at the botanical garden. What a well thought through and interesting place to visit. The garden beds and buildings were esthetic, colorful and very well marked. Personal was helpful and friendly. An afternoon well spend!
Very well presented and clean gardens. A few weeks ago with everything in bloom it must have looked spectacular.
We stopped here on our way back from Bar Harbor. A little expensive but the grounds are well manicured and beautiful. We would go back again.
Wonderful place to visit and see tons of lights beautiful.
Excellent staff, excellent gardens, the food and service at the on site cafe was first rate, great place for family's, plan to return soon.
This is an amazing place for all ages. My 4 and 7 year old enjoyed it as much as the parents did. Beautiful gardens and great seasonal events.
Outstanding variety and quality of regional botanicals. Do not miss.
Great hidden gem on the coast of Maine! Not a super huge park at this point, very easily walkable with a lot of different interesting gardens and river views.
Don't miss the meditation garden and landing, near the river. Beautiful!
Nice place plenty of shade the fairy garden was the highlight To bad the butterfly house was closed. Spent 2 hours there. It was well worth it.
Nice, but several display lights were out. I also expected more Christmas themed displays for the season. After walking through all the displays, it became boring, and at $15.00 a person, my expectations were not what I had hoped. We decided next year to just load up hot cocoa and drive around in a heated vehicle. We saw more interesting displays on the ride home.
Beautiful place to spend some time outdoors
Maine is so very fortunate to share this wonderful jewel with everyone. Peaceful, serene, beautiful. Highly recommend!
So much fun! I planned two hours and ended up staying 6 hours!!! Awesome time!
Gorgeous, easily one of the best gardens I've been to, highly recommend going, check out the kids area and the gigantic gourds they are growing
In the 80's I cycled on my offroad bike. Where the gardens are now was a house development which didn't happen. The Botanical Gardens are over the top in the summer. But the holiday lighting at night with a new fallen snow is magical and out of this world!
Epic if you like flowers, landscape, butterflies fairy houses and nature in general. Good place to take some you find too, they have plenty of gardens dedicated to kids
Great gardens! Amazing sculptures. Recommended for kids and adults alike.
This place is absolutely fantastic. It's not just a place with interesting plants on display, it's designed so each turn in the path presents something new and fun, and would delight most anyone. My last visit was my third or fourth time in as many years, and each time is better than the last.
A beautiful place to visit. It is very informative and everything is labeled very nicely. The staff are very helpful. Highly recommend a visit.
Magical. Like walking through a beautiful forest of lighted trees. A superb job of decorating and sharing the Holiday spirit. Wish we had gone on a warmer night, but we could wait a long time for that to happen. There was a beautiful building to warm up and get warm or cold drinks and food. We hated to leave because it was such a heartwarming experience. Wanting to make this a tradition every year. Thank you.
Much more than we expected. A truly special place.
Beautiful place. Fun for the kids as well. It was about 95 degrees the day we visited. Fortunately, they have a c in the buildings.
A very nice place to visit with lots of beautiful plants and a large variety of pathways. Lots of interesting things to do for the young ones as well.
