Awesome nursery tucked away in Lafayette. Reminds me of plant shopping with my parents in that it’s very similar to the old nursery by LHS that was run by a retired UL hortocultist. Not only are the plants healthy, but they are priced fairly. He also offers pine straw bails for mulching landscaped beds. Marcus, thanks for giving Lafayette a unique food based plant option! Do you happen to have thornless blackberry bushes?

This place has the best selection of flowers, herbs, food plants, and native plants. Everything is grown outside, in our weather, and when transplanted into your garden/bigger pots they grow better than average. The plants are super affordable too!

Its a house with herbs. Drove over asked about the mosquito products from their site and owner said he doesnt do that anymore. Asked he had herbs that help deter mosquitos (lavender, rosemary etc). He said no, no mosquitos. He said there was a neighbor that might go spray but I dont live in the neighborhood and wasnt really looking for that. Dissapointing.

I just love this place so much. They are so willing to teach you about a plant if you dont know much about and not only do they sell herbs, plants, materials, etc., they also offer classes to help start your own pot, hanging plant, the list goes on! If no one is there they also have the self check out option which is awesome! Cash or card! The Urban Naturalist just gets it! :)

Urban Naturalist turned our empty, swampy lot next door to our business into a beautiful area of peaceful retreat -- something much needed and hard to find in our busy neighborhood. I love this place. The big box stores have plants genetically treated plants to kill pollinators. The plants here are never treated to kill bees. And, they are heilom non gmo and or native! Only place in town I get my plants.

The Urban Naturalist has fast become one of my favorite places in town to buy my container plants. Over time I find that the plants that I've purchased there are more resilient than my other potted plants. I think this is because the plants are growing in similar conditions outdoors at the shop as they will be in my yard. The prices are quite reasonable, the staff friendly, and the plants are well cared for. The best part is that you can trust Marcus to help you make an informed purchase. I love this place!
