REVIEWS OF Commander's Palace IN Louisiana

Kamal Elliott

Food was amazing and the entire staff bent over backwards to make sure everything was perfect.

Eli Young

I had a nice experience at Commander’s Palace. I felt that the staff, from the host to the wait staff, was pleasant and professional. The dining room was nice and well kept. The food was great and I think fairly priced. The turtle soup was especially delicious. My only complaint is about the temperature of my meal. It was a little on the cold side, but at the same time I understand you cannot completely savor food when it is hot like I enjoy it. **They do take the dress code seriously, as my date and I saw a couple get denied before we went in. Overall a fantastic experience!

Andy

Historic restaurant with pricey but very delicious and award winning food. Highly recommended for special events. The wait staff was attentive and provided great service. If anything, the members of Commander's Palace did too much; I'm not a fan of how often conversation was interrupted for the daily soup, menu specials, to have every person at the table get a piece of bread, etc. Nonetheless, dinner was fantastic and I'll most likely be returning.

Commanders is fine dining at its best. The building has wonderful old New Orleans charm, while the staff is always so pleasant and helpful. Really the staff here is the last of a dying art - their attention to detail is fabulous. The food is on a entirely different level. It is so well prepared and tastes so good. I only had the seafood gumbo, and the classic Commanders salad with chicken this time but it was still so good. Their cauliflower soup, as well as the strawberry shortcake is out of this world. Well done Commanders. I also recommend walking through the back garden. So peaceful and beautiful.

Glenn Heino

We had such a nice evening. Our waiter was so entertaining. The food was excellent.

Darrel Watton

Food, service, and wines are all good. I would recommend the souffle. Worth the visit again!

Michael Semple

Delight fine dining. Expensive, but that is to be expected. Staff is attentive, provide great service and extremely welcoming.

Draya Alexander

I came from the heart of Beverly Hills California for a family reunion & this restaurant was recommended. It was a great experience. Except for the inconvenience of a rude valet driver. He could of been more friendly but the gentleman with the dreads wasn't very friendly

Janine Vyas

Absolutely delicious and the perfect NOLA meal..don't miss it! Lovely and accommodating staff, too.

Dean Ohde

Staff was very friendly and professional. I was worried about food portion sizes before hand but they ended up being perfectly filling. A bit pricey normally but we managed to get some amazing deals for a “Coolinary” special going on. Cosmopolitans were strong and flavorful. Overall a very good experience.

Peter Luo

Doesn't look like they like tourists. I was told dressed too casual and refused service. Who wants to pay for a snobby place like this.

Patricia Buck

Food was delicious and the staff was the best! It is a must when you visit New Orleans. Jared was our waiter and he provided expert service with a friendly attitude.

Danielle Levitt

This was a fantastic dining experience. I recommend making reservations far in advance. The waitstaff was extremely courteous and attentive. Everything served (bread before the meal, appetizers, entree, dessert, wine, and espresso) was absolutely delicious and it was obvious that no detail was forgotten. The complementary valet was quick and also very courteous. This is a fantastic place for dinner on a special occasion.

G Weeza

Over rated, I know good cuisine and this wasn't it. The service was very good and friendly, the dishes were very nicely presented, but most of the taste... Sad very sad. Skip this

We love Commanders, it is our favorite restaurant as we have always considered it a dining experience. However, our last visit for lunch was very disappointing. First, our Martinis were not cold. We let our waitress know , but the second one was not any better. I had turtle soup which was very good. My wife had the Commanders salad which was very dry. We mentioned it to our waitress, she apologized, but it was not to Commander's standard. Twice we were told that bread and butter were on the way, but our waitress finally brought it after our main course had arrived. We both had the catfish, buy it was warm at best and the sauce had begun to gel. Our deserts were the best part of the meal once we received them after a 20 minute wait

Flatulance Prime

A revelation. The best service I’ve had in ages, excellent value and truly excellent food. Dress up, you’ll enjoy it even more.

charles garalis

Simply outstanding. Everything was just perfect. Food and service could not have been better. This is a must stop for anyone visiting NO

Marcia Hirsch

All time favorite for upscale Creole dining. Can’t beat Sunday jazz brunch.

Macklin Roberts

Our server was a delight. Every single piece of food we ate was amazing. Thank you commanders palace for an unforgettable NOLA experience!!

Camille

Great experience, okay food. Generally, I was underwhelmed by the cuisine, but it was an overall enjoyable fine dining experience. If you want a show, order the bananas foster for dessert! For the drinkers, the cherry bourbon cocktail with the chocolate rim was a treat!

Emperor XLII

Band during the jazz brunch was quite nice; food was good... though, personally, I was put off by the "let's inconvenience our guests for the sake of appearances" dress code requirement (though it did seem to be lightly enforced); nice to go once, but I would prefer the original Brennan's for the same good food and more relaxed atmosphere.

Kickass Duke

I dare you to find better service! Top notch food, gorgeous atmosphere and decor, but the people here really make the experience 5 stars.

Lindsay Keisman

As a vegetarian, I am always skeptical about fancy restaurants and their ability to serve me something that isn’t veggie marinara. However, I had an amazing vegetarian soup (veggie broth base) and a dish that I can’t even pronounce. The desserts were amazing. My server told me that many vegetarians avoid coming, and shared that many of the servers have culinary degrees and the chef will always find a way to honor the guests. This isn’t a cheap night, but not horrible either ($100, no alcohol, and we had two desserts). Such a fancy and wonderful experience. A “Must” for someone in New Orleans.

Alline Arguello

Loved loved this restaurant. Our food and drinks were incredible and our server Randy was so welcoming, informative and attentive it made us feel at home. I highly recommend the veal but to be honest everything else we had was incredibly tasty.

tipimaven

We visited Commander's Palace for lunch. This restaurant is an American icon for fine dining. We read a review that said lunch was a perfect way to experience this place for half the price of brunch or dinner. There is a strict dress code which suits the place and atmosphere. My favorite was the unbelievable 25cent martinis... Limit 3 per person. We had gulf oyster panzanella for our starter and Chef Troy's Classic Creole luncheon which included turtle soup, molasses glazed Texas Quail and Creole bread pudding souffle. Our other entree was The Creole Tostada. Everything was delicious and service was professional and more sincere and warm than you would expect in a formal dining experience. When we asked our waiter Peter to compliment the chef on the excellent food, he took us to the kitchen and introduced us to Chef Tory. We would definitely recommend this establishment as a must visit in New Orleans. Thank you Claudia, Mason & Peter for great service! Our check after food and 6 martinis came to $77...unbelievable!

Richard Nuckols

Had a great dinner and don't forget to try the turtle soup. I suggest the soup trio. Don't forget to order your souffle in advance.

Jonathan Peterson

I first ate at Commander's Palace with my parents when I was a kid before Emiril could make a roux. Took my son for his first time this year with some relatives. Some of the Nola classic restaurants are resting on their laurels, but Commander's still maintains a very high standard for food and service. If you're only going to do one of the grand dames of Nola food, this is probably the one to do.

Jennifer Singh

I am so happy to finally get the chance to dine at this amazing place. The food and service were impeccable. I was especially happy to be there on a weekday for the .25 martinis! The turtle soup is a must, the desserts are a do-not-miss, and everything else in between is fabulous. I don't think you could go wrong here.

Julie Ahearn

Excellent food and drinks, authentic southern vibe and the best service. The brunch menu includes a starter, entree and dessert (priced around $40) so be sure to arrive hungry. The live table-side music is an nice touch.

Gregg Spino

The Absolute pinnacle of dining! I may be going out on a limb here, best restaurant on planet Earth! The service and attention to detail, second to none. Absolutely fantastic!

Tom Mackay

Amazing brunch! Truly fantastic service, and delicious meals. The setting was lovely, with a jazz band serenading each table. An excellent experience!

Aleksandra Grinshteyn

Do Not Go Here! This place is downright terrible food and service wise. The only good thing about it is the cheap drinks. I completely left my soup as it was over salted and made not eatable. The waiter did not even bat an eyelash. We both left our $30 dollar entrees completely untouched paid and walked out.y boyfriend plate was cold, not like we but cold!!! We waited for the entrees for at least 40 + minutes. My fish was cold and soo over salted I couldn’t even swallow it. This is an over priced tourist trap. Combined with completely inattentive waiters who genuinely don’t care how and what they serve you and actually forget what you even ordered. 20 minute after ordering drinks she came up to us and asked if we would like a second round? We never received the first! I genuinely feel like I was robbed. I am from New York and never would be happen back home. I am not sure what establishment you are running, but if your patrons leave absolutely everything untouched how do you not even ask them if everything is okay? If they would like to change their order? I am appalled. Don’t go here and save your hard earned money. The place smells like a toilet!

Shelly Chen

Excellent dining experience! Since the time we walked in the restaurant, we could tell this is a very well organized place, from the staffs, every display to the every course. Highly recommend if you are in New Orleans!

Stacey Grayson

The best meal and service I've ever enjoyed! Thanks so much for making our anniversary night so special!

Philicia Hup P

Awesome place, really good food, good prices, and very nice atmosphere! Highly recommend checking out

C. M.

Want old school service? Go here! The service is fantastic! The restaurant is hectic and fun but don’t expect the experience to be uneventful. Check out the kitchen while on your way to your table. I will be back ⚜️

James L

We visited while on vacation from the Los Angeles area and had a truly memorable dining experience. Dishes we enjoyed included a complexly flavored turtle soup, perfectly seasoned pork chop, and unique bread pudding souffle. The service was unparalleled- Jonathan, Jabari and Jason were a fantastic team. Few well-known establishments live up to the hype but this definitely did.

Noah Curry

Pretty amazing menu, food, and drinks. Top notch quality and care of both service and food. If you want a full experience in New Orleans, then go here!

RJ DiBella

Best meal in New Orleans. I hope you have 2 stomachs (to fit all the food). Quality and quantity =

Jordan Holmes

Went for jazz brunch and was not disappointed! Decor was weird, but our servers were awesome. We were never without a drink in our hands the entire 2 hours we were there. Food was fresh and delicious- we did eat almost entirely seafood so not sure if that played a part. The jazz band came around our room 2 full times in the time we were there.

Adam Chapman

Commanders palace is like hoping into a classic car. Something old, something that turns heads, a real thing. Then you find out it has air conditioning, power steering and real brakes. The building feels like it was always there. That new orleans grew up around it. The service is top tier. The food will remain a memory with you for a long time to come. Make reservations And dont rush your time there. If you only have one day in New Orleans, this needs be your only stop.

Katharine Di Cerbo

Had my birthday brunch here for the jazz brunch, and it was so wonderful. Gorgeous atmosphere (garden room), and delicious food. Very traditional New Orleans cuisine which I had not had before, and we loved it. Had the turtle soup and stuffed quail. The band came to sing to our table since it was my birthday, and that was so sweet. Lovely experience!

Brian Knight

Excellent experience although it's quite pricey. The service is amazing and they really took care of us on our anniversary. Highly recommended for a luxury experience.

Chris Lawrence

What an amazing place. Absolutely awesome food, drinks and dessert. Would highly recommend if in town!!!

Yahne Young

One Of Our FAVORITE PLACES to Experience Old World Louisiana Service and Dining!!!!

Dionne Grayson

The bird room is my favorite of course. The food alone is excellent. All of the other bells and whistles make the experience spectacular!

Graciela Blanno

We are from Atlanta and this is by far the best food we have ever had . Miles was our server and he was so knowledgeable and fun . We truly enjoyed this experience . Best experience we have had in a very long time. Thank you miles for making this experience so great! Will be back soon!!

Shane Grojean

Absolutely stunning food. I'm not a typical seafood lover but I was wrong, it is all about how it is prepared and sourced from because commanders is amazing. I didn't have a single thing that was delicious. Can't wait to come back on my next trip.

Annette Park

I usually come for brunch but have also been to dinner. Every time, impeccable service and consistently delicious food. Prices can be pricey but worth it for the experience.

Zart Cosgrove

Our friend had been talking this place up, and it was the first Michelin starred restaurant we ever went to. We're not strangers to paying top dollar for restaurants, however, we'd just never been to one in a city that gets Michelin stars. We had high expectations, and they were only partially meet. The service, while attentive, was amateur. The food, whole it sounded great in the menu, was poorly executed. For example, the steak dish came out cooked medium well. When I said something to the waiter, he said, "sorry, the chef likes them to be medium rare." That was it. We really enjoyed the experience, but for the price we paid, we were severely disappointed.

Steve Herrick

Fabulous! Great food, service and ambiance. Highly recommend.

jkady1

I have never had better dining experience. I wish we were seated upstairs but it was fine. The food was amazing. The service was perfect. Just a great night out with friends.

A.S. Michaelson

Every good thing you've heard about them is absolutely true. Service, food, ambience, are incredible. Can't recommend them highly enough. If you only have time for one meal in New Orleans, this is the place.

BONNIE Billiot

We have been to Commanders several times and always enjoy it. The food is excellent as is the service. Everyone has a friendly smile and greeting for you. Today we had an infant in tow and everyone stopped at our table to admire and comment on him. I can highly recommend this restaurant for food and ambiance and the experience of fine dining.

Tiffany Cobb

The food and ambiance here was amazing! I had the beachcomber drink and it came with an adorable pair of sunglasses. The gumbo of the day was seafood and it was so good! I can't remember the name for the shrimp dish, but it was super flavourful and really good. My coworker had the duck and said it was amazing as well. Highly recommend a trip here!

Georgia Thurnblad

Beautiful old NOLA ambiance. Wonderful food and the service way above excellent. Many lovely dining areas. Located in the Garden District. There is a dress code but that accentuates the special feeling. Servers & hosts stopped by to chat and see how things were. Extremely fantastic!!

Jose Carreiras

Spectacular service and ambiance. Its reputation lived up to expectations. Would recommend for a special occasion.

Eric Newsome

It's hard to imagine this iconic establishment not have a 6 out of 5. Please note, this restaurant has been operating for more than half of US history. It was a delightful dining experience. It was perfect in every way. I will never forget the turtle soup.

Tim Masdon

Wonderful atmosphere, best steak I have eaten in 15 years. Wait staff was excellent!

Brad Sciullo

So great its unbelievable. Brunch is the best time to hit the place. Food and service above what you could ever expect and really fun dining rooms.

Rachel Theriot

Truly spectacular! Fine dining that's also friendly. My favorite is the multi course lunch specials and to enjoy them in the Garden Room. Coffee is roasted and ground on site and is exceptional. $0.25 (yup really!) Martini specials if you get a multi course lunch meal. Exquisite service in historic and lovely atmosphere. Dress code (pants no shorts) even for lunch. Have brought my daughter to family celebrations here at 8 months and 19 months and she enjoyed the 2 hour meals with the attentive and thoughtful help of the splendid wait staff. Highly recommended, especially for memorable occasions!

Jeffrey Baer

A friend that was in town the same time I was spending a few weeks in NOLA insisted that we try this restaurant. I'm glad we did, it was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. We did the chiefs meals with the wine pairing and it was absolutely amazing. There were several presentations and each built on the other. They weren't large portions but in all it was very satisfying, definitely did not leave hungry. The service is impeccable and you can actually carry on a conversation, that was a welcome treat since most places anymore are blasting the music. If you haven't tried it, you should.

Timothy Joyce

A really nice place for a top notch dining experience. The menu is excellent and the service is also. Reminds me a lot of the Washington Inn in Cape May. The old Lafayette cemetery across the street is a great place to idle away some time before your reservation. I doubt this great place will disappoint.

K C

A friendly dressy place. Air conditioning way too cold. The food was salt and sugar, couldn't taste the food, too rich. Southern cuisine?? The wait staff was friendly and helpful. I"ll go back, bring a sweater, and order dessert.

Tye Beau

Some truly excellent food. I don't think any plate that hit our table was anything short of very good, and many were great. The staff were courteous and attentive. The only downside (which you probably won't experience) is that our table was right next to the staging area for the upper dining room, so we had a steady stream of wait staff and regular chair bumps over the evening. Nothing awful, but at this caliber and price point of restaurant not something I would have expected.

Yuyao Jiang

The dress code is ridiculous. It’s summer, and NOLA is obviously a tourism city. Who would bring suits here to enjoy the summer vacation? If no T-shirt, no shorts, no jeans, why don’t you directly say “no tourists?!”

Aleena Zia

It was amazing. The service was beyond what I've experienced ever. Would definitely recommend. Each course was special

송병호

New Orleans foods are not fitted for me as a foreigner. But this place, the best place for dining. I ate tasting menu, and every course was good enough. They focused on to keep ingredients good flavor and taste, and successfully reduce bad things. not too spicy. Because of the Commander's palace, I can make a fine memory about foods of this city. Thanks.

Yue Chen

Nice setup inside, staff are friendly. Wait is somehow longer than normal and than expected. But food is good, even though debatable whether worth the price. Cheese cake and bread pudding souffle recommended

Patrick

Great jazz brunch. Friendly and knowledgeable wait staff. We always felt taken care of. Food was fantastic. Great atmosphere.

tanvi sood

Loved the choices for brunch, the hospitality at this 126years old restaurant. A must visit if you are in new Orleans. liked the eat fit menu options as well. Do try it as a healthy option. definitely try the soufflé. Cheers!

Thomas Baalmann

Excellent dinner upstairs in the room overlooking the garden. Food and service top notch.

Kevin Johnson

The best food I've ever had! The gumbo was incredible, my entrée was amazing and dessert was out of this world! Service is top notch as well.

K Suse

Best service ever! Thank you Robert for the most lovely evening!

Ila Darling

The highlight of our trip to NOLA. Tried for dinner reservations which were unavailable, but the gentleman I talked to, Jimmy, was so wonderful and charming, suggested several alternate restaurants and made reservations for us for lunch later. We had a superb table, and the staff was exceptional. Incidentally, the food was so delicious, we were all amazed. This restaurant deserves all the praise it gets. Do not miss Commander's Palace!

Casey Dillon

Outstanding service and food. Tasting menu was reasonably priced compared to other high end restaurants. Will visit again.

Sam Wakim

There is no better place to have a celebration in New Orleans than Commander's Palace! Excellence is the standard here and from arrival to the inevitable departure, the incredible memories you create will be with you forever. Reservations are required and if you don't get one online, don't despair, pick up the phone and call. Even at the last minute, there may a party that cancels, creating an available table or two. With our timing in New Orleans coinciding with Restaurant Week, we took the opportunity to throughly enjoy the prix fixe brunch. Each brunch includes a starter, entree and dessert. There is a wide selection of all three. Let your server know if you are vegetarian or have food allergies as they will gladly work with you. The service, the music, the presentation and the food quality were all superb!

Tom F.

An absolute institution and quintessential Old New Orleans. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED! The food, the ambience, the service (and the prices, heh) are all at the high-end of what you could hope for from a restaurant. Everything I've had in the few times I have been there has been absolutely AMAZING. The turtle soup is a must-have, so make sure you get some! Other than that, I'm convinced that it is impossible to go wrong, but your waiter will be highly trained and know the menu inside and out, so he or she will deftly help you navigate the menu based on your tastes/preferences. Two quick tips: 1) Ask to sit in the garden room. It oversees the gorgeous garden, and the walls are covered with mirrors, so you feel like you are eating IN a garden. In my opinion it is by FAR the most beautiful seating in this (very large) restaurant. 2) 25 cent martinis! I know they serve these during brunch AND at other times, but I'm not sure when those other times are (feel free to ask when you call to make your reservations). Alcoholics of the world don't get too excited - no one will be served more than 5 of these (sorry, dad).

Adam Y

Honestly and easily one of the best restaurant/dining experience of my life!

Karl McNamara

Not sure where all these 5 stars are coming from. Have people actually experienced what fine dining is meant to be? Employing an archaic dress code in an old mansion and over priced menu does not mean you are fine dining. We dined last night and were terribly disappointed. Recommendations and reviews would lead you to believe this is the finest restaurant experience in the South. It is not. We were escorted upstairs to a room that hasnt been updated since the early 80s (lattice on mirrors anyone??), seated on a sofa like something from a Sizzler. The room itself looked like something from a suburban local social club. I half expected a buffet table to be in the corner. It was loud and packed . I normally wouldnt mind that but when an establishment advertises itself as the best in New Orleans you expect something classier - oh yeah and guys in torn jeans, what happened to your famous dress code? Were we sent up here as I didn't have a suit jacket?? I got the feeling they may have segregated the crowd as downstairs seemed to have a nice ambiance. Anyway, service was great, so no problem there. Our servers were attentive and friendly. The food though? The bread was obviously not baked on site. The Turtle soup was meh. The main (gulf fish) was good but not sure why it was $10-$15 more than some other establishments in town. The most enjoyable thing consumed was the wine! I wonder if the experience is different downstairs, but upstairs felt like being packed into a local diner from the 80s with sub par over priced food. The friendly hospitality 9f our server is the only thing that gets this place a pass mark. Hey, I wouldn't have minded the whole experience usually but the expectations did not match the reality and paying $400 for such an experience nearly made me vomit. p.s. iron your table cloths and use table scrapers and tear down that ugly lattice!!

Alexandria Robinson

We LOVE Commander’s Palace. My husband and I often stop in for their martini lunch. You really do only need 3! The staff is incredible and always makes us feel special. The food is amazing, I’ve never had anything on the menu that I didn’t like. Be sure to dress appropriately and make a reservation.

Holly Tucker

Food, service and drinks were fantastic. Can't get over the shrimp tasso app. Amazing!!

Michael Clore

The food here was fantastic. In particular the turtle soup which I thought was great. The service was also impeccable. We went for the Saturday jazz brunch and they have a jazz band that goes around to each table playing songs just for you. You can't go to New Orleans and not go here.

Christopher Brock

This was most certainly the very best restaurant experience my wife and I have ever had. We had the Sunday jazz brunch in the garden room for our anniversary. The building and ambience are amazing, very authentic and grand. The service was 100% flawless, from beginning to end; you couldn't possibly want or need for anything more. The food was/is possibly the best there is to have from here to anywhere else. It is definitely gourmet fine dining but the portions were huge. I wasn't even able to finish the entire entree. There was live music the whole time and it was just a lovely, festive, refreshing environment. I can't wait to go back next year.

Nario Com

After all the hoopla and after trying the best restaurants in NOLA we finally gave the Commanders Palace a try. I don’t know if it was our choice of dishes but we found the place second to none. We went with the full tasting menu and it’s optional wine pairing. The experience was truly wonderful. Incredible dishes. Very attentive staff. Very authentic NOLA fine restaurant atmosphere. It has seven different dining rooms. And we got to travel through the kitchen on our way to our table. (Video enclosed). A member in our party passed on delicious desserts due to allergies and the resulting creme boule was unique and delicious. The tasting menu doesn’t include the soups so we can’t comment on them. But the entrees and appetizers were all superb. Highly recommend it.

Bridget Evans

Celebrated my 49th birthday at Commander's Palace. The food was amazing and the service was excellent.

Jon White

The staff is wonderful. I suggest the quail and bread pudding. make a reservation.

Amy P

Absolutely excellent! I enjoyed every minute! The steak was melt in your mouth deliciousness. The Bananas Fosters was made table side and was the best one I've ever had. This probably has to be one of my favorite restaurants ever. It is a must see if you are in New Orleans!

Roz Anomaly

One stop I knew I had to make on my most recent vacation, made reservations for lunch time and 25 cent martinis. We were seated upstairs in the garden room and it was gorgeous. Highly recommend planning this stop if you're traveling to New Orleans.

Leslie Sherman

Beautiful place... great service... food was just ok

Ozy Martinez

We were visiting NOLA for my nephews girlfriends birthday and she chose this place for her birthday dinner. The place was amazing!! Food was great. The Commander's Bread Pudding Souffle was the best!!! Staff was beyond friendly. At one point my niece asked to go to the restroom and was escorted there locked in arms with the wait staff. Nobody waited for their food as everyone got theirs at the same time. It is upscale, so it isn't for everyone, but it is well worth the price!!

Andi Orlowski

Fancy New Orleans restaurant you have to get dressed up for. The 6 course tasting menu was delicious as was the paired wine. The staff are exceptional and keen to engage. The set menu will set you back $200 a head with tip and taxes included.

Candice Lawson

Pricey at first glance, but we ordered entrees that came with a starter and dessert, so actually not unreasonable considering the fabulous dining experience you get there. The food and the love music were really good!

John Ford Milton

There may be no better restaurant in terms of food, service, environment, and overall experience. The layers of history combined with the genuine New Orleans culture on display make for a dining experience that goes well beyond the food, which is by itself excellent anyway. We went to a recent jazz brunch and were quite simply thrilled. The music, the "second line" , the balloons, and the animation of the wait staff really did make the whole experience feel celebratory in a way I've never seen executed elsewhere. The bread pudding souffle and turtle soup are a must, but beyond that I'm certain you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Dress up, and order a cocktail. You won't be sorry.

Nicki Arnold

Janelle was our server..very classy..this place blew our minds! The food was so amazing..We had the catfish and quail served to perfection..highly recommend...25 cent martinis didn't hurt either...

Alex Kogan

Really good food though a bit overpriced. The atmosphere in the restaurant and professionalism of the staff really stand out in Commander's Palace. The turtle soup and the veal were to die for. Excellent overall experience. Nice and quiet location in the garden district. Highly recommended.

Cajun Christian

One of the best places to eat I highly recommend it. It has a more social atmosphere and is usually crowded. The food is great and is truly an experience to remember.

Monserrat Andujar-Geacoman

Wonderful traditional and why have I waited this long to visit Commanders palace. The service is excellent and the .25 martinis are just what the commander ordered. It gets packed for lunch. There’s a dress code too. Try all the servers recommendations.

Josh Hammel

If I could give this restaurant six stars I would. Highly recommend the chef's tasting (or whatever it's called, it's the coursed meal) with accompanying wine pairing. Enjoyed an essentially private tour given by our server at the close of the restaurant. Worth saving money to eat at this place.

Virginia C

Always Awesome!

Janine Arrowsmith

I had a lovely, long lunch yesterday complete with a classic martini. It was a culinary treat and I highly recommend it. Service is impeccable and food outstanding.

Aimee Rios

Very expensive, service was slow, ac was freezing, and food was ok. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Shirley Ramos

MUST READ! THIS PLACE... was something else. Every single exotic flavor was paired perfectly. I had the 3 course and it was phenomenal. Every bite was exquisite. I'm from south Florida. This is my 2nd time in NOLA in the last 3 years and the food in this town in my opinion isn't all that it's hyped up to be. You guys just haven't tried food in Miami!!! But this place... Kendall, Billy, and Kevin. You 3 made our dining experience one to remember. You truly care about our comfort and our satisfaction. Kendall, if we weren't too excited about something, you made sure it was made right, and cared about our dining experience. Thank you to the co-owner, Ti, For personally coming to greet us, and wish us a safe trip back home, before this category 4 storm hits us labor this day. Thank Commander's Palace. You made our NOLA trip.

Stephen Shiring

My wife, daughter and I experienced a most amazing taste of New Orleans exceptional southern customer service, delivered by our servers Eric and Daren, which combined with the presentation of the multiple courses of delicious food and refreshing beverages in a pristine environment was simply amazing. The staff was extremely friendly and dedicated to the customer experience. We were invited to walk-through the “open kitchen” and visit the backyard flower gardens - both the kitchen and flower gardens were a special treat to see

Vicki Ellis

Our expectations for our evening at Commander's Palace were high because this restaurant is on everyone's list of not to be missed. We were not disappointed. From our greeting at the door and our walk through the immaculate kitchen to our table that looked out onto a open air patio, everything was perfect. The attention to detail, the food, the wait staff's timing, and the wine list did not disappoint. We highly recommend this dining experience and will definitely make a return visit soon.

Daniel Nieves

Awesome service and food. A must do when in New Orleans. Get dressed up and experience all of the southern charm Commander's Palace has to offer.

Airam

Very very cozy, nice, exclusive. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding!

Ebony McDonald

Had a lovely dinner 10/17/2019. Service was great. All the servers were poised, proper, and very polished in their appearance. Food (three course menu) was delicious although I was sad when I realized after arriving at my hotel that I left my swan shaped leftovers on the table. Still would definitely go back. Great wine selection!

This is a great foodie moment: excellent service and delicious meals, what’s else? This lunch menu is a great value add! And having a nice weather to enjoy the lunch in the lovely yard listening to the fountain was just perfect.

Irene Feeley

I did not think it was any pricier than the other restaurants we dined at. Very food food and service. And you get to know what they mean when they talk about Commanders on NCIS...lol.

Peyton Coleman

always fantastic food, but the service is even better make sure that you go ask for Jared he is by far the best Captain they have you will make your experience that much

Bruddah

Lunch in the Garden Room with $.25 martinis was a treat and delicious.

Sheera Rampersad

Commanders Palace was the best restaurant we visited on our trip & we went quite a few! They were very facilitating in joining our two reservations into one so our party of 15 could sit together. Our waiter Troy was exceptional...his customer service was amazing! He also organized for us to do a second line in the restuarant behind the band! Would def recommend Commanders to anyone who visits!

Miss Parker

Beautiful experience, excellent service, quality mimosas. But if you are looking for food that tastes amazing, do keep looking. It was decent enough, but nowhere near worth what you'll pay. However if you really just want the experience than you'll be pleased.

Andrew Strassner

Came here often as a kid growing up in New Orleans. Had a fond memory of it. Revisited with my wife recently and found it was still an amazing restaurant. The food is great and the service is incredible.

Sonja Blanton

Service is outstanding and the food is the best I've eaten here in NOLA. This should say something because I'm from La! I don't get to come home as much but definitely going back. Make reservations well in advance 1-2 weeks).

Staci Ingram

The most amazing service I’ve ever had! I’ve dined at fine restaurants all over US and Canada. The food here is amount the best, but service was unbeatable. Kisha’s smile was so genuine, we are coming back tomorrow and flying our office in this Holiday to show what we expect when we say great service.

Amy Ballam

Went there for my daughters birthday, just like we do every yr, the captain of our table (Jillian) was extremely rude. Asked for a mimosa and was basically all orange juice so then we asked for a glass of champagne and the captain said "is this for you". We also order a michelob ultra and she came back to the table with a menu and said "we dont carry that". At this point we were ready to leave but since we were there for a special occasion we didn't want to ruin it. The food took longer than normal also.

Rex Fonseca

We went with a group of 8 and they accommodated with 4 separate checks for each couple. I ordered a dish and didn’t realize their was goat cheese in it and they offered to exchange my entree for another. Great service by the wait staff but the food was just okay. I do recommend that you try it for yourself... Went there for lunch without a reservation, said it would be about an hour which was fine. Sat upstairs with a nice view. Staff was excellent. .25 martinis, wow. Duck confit was outstanding. French bread, outstanding. desert, outstanding. For a great meal, this is the place to go.

James Leininger

I absolutely love this place! I did my internship here because of their reputation for food and being the best. Their chefs are incredibly professional and they take their time to help you get on track and raise your standards to being the best. The food is amazing too!

Cro-Sim Boss Cross

I cannot say enough good things about this place it should be five Diamond... it is super good the prices were very reasonable service was spot-on. Gumbo was awesome

Michele Pecanty

Awesome dining experience! My husband and I went for our 16th anniversary and we were extremely satisfied! Food was outstanding and the staff was on point! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and wonderfully romantic atmosphere!!! We highly recommend this place and we well be back!

There is certainly a likelihood that you’ll have an amazing dining experience here and that is probably the case on a normal occasion. It obviously comes at a higher price so accept the cost if that is what you are after. Our visits have provided a heightened level of service also, which has been at or above expectations. The last visit the food became too rich for me, and my body just couldn’t take anymore. I’ve never experienced this but will be back for the food and service. If you can afford it, take advantage of it. You can also enjoy the famous cemetery and celebrity homes that are very close by. Enjoy!

Staff was very friendly and professional. Make sure you order the Bread Pudding Souffle. AMAZING!!!

Brian Neuenfeldt

What an incredible ambience, professional, courteous staff, awesome chef and most importantly the best food you may ever eat in your life. This is a must-do, must-try experience in all of New Orleans.

MATTHEW STEWART

If you’re in town and want a memorable dinner then you should go here. Old World charm and great food and service!

Jamie

This place is a bit pricey, but totally worth it. My party came here for a birthday celebration and The Commander's Palace staff treated us well. My entire party selected Chef Tory’s Three Course Offerings, which included an appetizer and entree that was within one diners vegetarian dietary restrictions. No one left hungry or disappointed with their meal.

Josh O'Keefe

Definitely a 5 star experience. Food, service, drink list, ambience and overall experience is phenomenal. Food preparation is perfect. Good variety to choose from. Bonus points for location—get there an hour early to check out the old mansions.

Stephen Fleischman

Amazing. I don't know what else to say. Fantastic. Incredible. This restaurant was the peak of my life and its downhill from here.

daniel silvestri

Very good food. Very good service. One of the best meals I have ever had in New Orleans. Looking forward to visiting again.

Timmy Truong

The ambiance and the service was very good. I felt like this place was too hyped. I had the pork chop and it was good but the turtle was different for me. The souffle was very good and sweet. My partner had the root beer braised short ribs and it lacked flavor. Overall I would recommend this place.

Joseph Kirkland

This is the finest restaurant I have ever eaten at in my life. The service is outstanding. The food is superior. I would highly recommend this to anyone while visiting New Orleans.

Rebekah McAllister

Love Commanders! The food is absolutely delicious. Went for the jazz brunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff was very attentive, and seating with the garden view was lovely.

KKD City

Famous Forever! One and all flock to feast here. Superlative.

Dawn Buonconsiglio

One of the best meals we've had. The service was fantastic, you need only look up and someone came over. If you took a sip of water, your glass was filled, yet you didn't feel like they were hovering. Janet and Claudia were friendly and very helpful. The food was amazing. I chose the pork lunch special that included a very tasty winter fruit and greens salad. For dessert I had the delicious bread pudding souffle! I was so stuffed when I left there, I don't think I'll eat till tomorrow! And their lunch specials came with great prices. It made it affordable for the thrifty vacationer to enjoy a high end restaurant. Will recommend this to anyone coming to NOLA.

Jaime Aaron

Love this restaurant! My husband and I are local and eat here for every special occasion. We love the food and the atmosphere is wonderful. The balloons around the colorful dining room at brunch are so joyful! Absolutely worth the visit, but be sure to make a reservation a couple weeks in advance(especially if there is a big convention in town).

Dominic McManis

If you go to New Orleans, this is a must. Great chefs have come from this place and it's easy to see why. Perfect service and terrific food. A beautiful restaurant to boot

Food was savory and price was reasonable. The family loved the meal and atmosphere.

Brandie Lupo

WONDERFUL DINING EXPERIENCE. Jazz brunch was fabulous! Warm welcomes from the moment we walked into the door. Excellent food quality, presentation and service. Surprised with a smiling Miss Lally coming to visit our table; and even a birthday serenade from the jazz band! The entire visit was delicious! Thank you for your Louisiana charm and excellence.

Travel & Champagne

A great dining experience in New Orleans! It is definitely worth a visit when you are in town. Excellent brunch with live music.

Ada Caceres

My favorite of the Brennan's restaurants. Their cocktail menu, while somewhat limited, it's very good. Mushroom ravioli appetizer was delicious, very light, and savory. Make sure you order the Bread Pudding Souffle. AMAZING!

John Pembroke

We have loved dining at Commander's Palace since the late 1980's, and I particularly like their signature dessert, Bananas Foster. However, the last time we ate there the Bananas Foster was served to me with brown (rotten) bananas. I sent it back twice, and then complained to the head of the floor. I was told that at that time of the year, they had trouble keeping fresh bananas. I told her that in such case, they shouldn't serve bad Bananas Foster made with rotten bananas, instead of what transpired. We'll try it again next trip, but I may ask first about the bananas before I sit down. Many other great places in New Orleans that care about the quality of the food they serve.

Loretta Lambright Redrick

If you know New Orleans you know there are plenty of excellent restaurants. Commanders Palace is the queen of them all. They’ve been serving up creole deliciousness since the late 1800’s! The setting is beautiful, the food is perfect, service is five star. Make a reservation, dress up, and prepare to be delighted. We dine here often, last night we had the filet, stuffed quail, turtle soup, and bread pudding soufflé. All fabulous, but the stuffed quail and bread pudding soufflé should not be missed!

Jess F

Absolutely wonderful experience, staff was attentive and delightful. We went during the Coolinary Event in August and had the three course meal for $39. The ravioli was delicious and the praline parfait was an enchanting dessert to end the whole meal. It was more than dinner, it was a experience.

Daniel Bogey

food was great. Must try turtle soup! The attentiveness of the staff was very very good.

Mike Penrod

Attended a business lunch. The staff was very nice and did a great job, food was good with several options specific to the restaurant. Was kind of expensive but you likely are expecting it to be. It would be a good option for a special occasion.

Sara Clark

Amazing staff and amazing food! We're from California and highly recommend!

Ranga Yarlagadda

Rounding off our NOLA trip with a special dinner at this spot. Everything was tasty yet light. Bread pudding will you leave you surprised for sure!
