Phelan Gardens provides beautiful and very healthy plants to it's customers. The prices are great as well! I purchased a fiddle leaf fig back in August of 2018 and am so happy I did! We recently purchased two tress from this nursery. This was the second set of two trees within a couple of weeks, On both occasions they were two hours later than we were told. In the first instance they brought some scraggly tree that I did not buy and they said my tree I paid for was sold to someone else and would I accept this tree which I did not. They went back to the nursery to get another tree and subsequently found my tree moved somewhere they didn't see it. They returned and completed the job. The second time again two hours late. They planted the trees, didn't stake them or water them which I paid for. I asked them to do so and they just left. I called the owner Mark Phelan and all he could say was they had a "bad day." He accepted no responsibility for their actions. He said he would send someone out the next day to stake the trees and water them. A person showed up and didn't stake the trees or water them and left. I have been doing business with Phelan Gardens for six years. I spend a significant amount of money each Spring and Summer at Phelan Gardens. However, after three lack luster performances and the the owner not accepting responsibility for their poor work or offering some credit for the mistakes, I will no loner do business with this company and I recommend you do the same. They charge a ridiculous amount of money as it is to plant a tree and this is what you get in return.

Please support this company! They are nothing less than amazing. Mark, one of the owners, came out with his sister, another owner, as well as her son, after we had some questions/concerns about the planting of a couple of trees purchased from them. This was after Mark had already made a special trip out to our place to check on things while we were on vacation and I had called his office with some questions. To get a call back from the owner and two special trips made out to our place is more than you will get from any company nowadays. We have purchased from Hardings in the past and their customer services pales in comparison to Phelans. And while out looking at the two trees, Mark even looked at a cottonwood which is actually on city property and gave me his thoughts on that...for free of course! And then his sister helped to teach me about how to properly prune our old apple tree which wasn't even purchased from them! Amazing, down to earth, and so kind. Give them your business! You will be 110% satisfied! Thank you Mark and family!

This is a hidden gem of a nursery! The staff are warm and greeted us immediately upon entry. The plants and flowers are healthy and the prices are very agreeable. So many types of annuals and perennials, shrubs and ornamental plants. They have supplies and hardware for the garden. Large and small garden accessories, statues of gnomes and mushrooms painted and unpainted. All in all, this was a fantastic nursery, I will be a customer here for many years to come! I've been here twice so far and have been above and beyond impressed both times. The staff are so helpful and kind. I even came in 5 mins before closing stressed and in a rush to grab a few things before they closed, but the manager (who has personally helped me both times) did not rush me at all and gave me his time to tell me how to take care of the plants I got. Purchased some Mock Orange, a Spirea Bush, several Rose Bushes, some May Night Salvia, & several Columbine last June. Though the Mock Orange looked like they would die, losing ALL their leaves, we "nursed them along" & they have literally "restored themselves" to go on & grow all new leaves. They look like nothing ever happened at all now! The staff at Phelan were very helpful in giving us advice as we did not want to lose these bushes. They are a shrub I rememberd fondly from my childhood back some 50+ years. In the end everything we bough has done extremely well!!! I am so glad we were able to talk with someone who could help us with our struggling Mock Orange too. I definitely will be making them my "go to" place for all my Plant & Garden needs from now on!!! I just recently purchased a peace lily from them because I recently became a house plant addict and I had a great experience. When I first started I would get my plants from Lowes or Home Depot and would constantly see sick and dying plants. It was refreshing to see plants that are thoroughly being cared for. The variety of plants they offer will have me coming back for sure (I'm keeping my eye open for a Christmas cactus). The staff was super nice and helpful when picking out my plant. Buying from a local family based nursery id also big plus. I highly recommend

I love coming to Phelan! We got all of our water plants here. Water lilly, hiacynth, water lettuce, and cardinal flowers! We got 2 baby grape vines here and they are now producing beautiful grapes! There are certain plants that we look for sometimes and you always have them!! Thank you!

Great selection, helpful staff. They offer cool classes as well, like their NASA air purifying plants class. I always buy from Phelan when I want high quality house plants. They never have bugs or pests like other places- clean plants, beautiful indoor and outdoor plant nursery, reasonable prices. Lots of unique healthy plants.The guy at the counter even helped me carry out all my items which were heavy and bulky. What an awesome shop.

This was our first visit and I was very impressed. We do all our own landscaping and they have a great selection of flowering bushes, and a great selection of trees as well as flowers and garden plants. ALL the plants, bushes, and trees were very healthy. You could close your eyes and make any pick and be happy with your selection. The staff were very knowable, and friendly and we made some different choices based on their information. I which I had taken some pics, to busy enjoying all the stuff. Next time for sure.

I like Phelan Gardens, I really do. I love the idea of a family owned local business -- and I want to support them even if it costs me a bit more to do so. We bought six trees for our back yard remodel in mid 2017. By the next summer, two of the trees had died and one was struggling mightily. So Phelan Gardens came out and replaced the two dead trees and told us to be patient on the 3rd tree. Now it is the spring of 2019 and we have three thriving trees that have grown very well over the years and three trees that are either dead or simply not thriving / growing. Phelan says sorry, we have a one year warranty and you are out of luck. I think their course of action is shortsighted.

When you walk into Phelan Gardens it's like walking into a small tropical paradise in the middle of Colorado Springs. The greenhouse provides warmth and humidity as you stroll amongst the green plant sea. Cactus, air plants, bonsai, trees, bushes, flowering pants, plants that have little yellow goldfish blossoms (what?!), Philodendron, and succulents are just the beginning of the variety of plants! That's just in the green house! Inside are the friendly and knowledgeable staff who can answer most anything plant related. One-of-a-kind gifts, pots, soil ,worms and wall art for your choosing. Head outside and you can see all the outside plants and tree AND the chickens. Yes, that's correct, I said chickens. A trip to Phelan Gardens renews my soul!! I would recommend it to everyone!!

I feel comfortable in this garden store. I'm an amateur gardener and I can take them photos or clippings of my plants and they offer advice on how to remedy it. Plus they don't make you feel dumb for over-watering your potato vine. The only thing I don't like is the entrance as its off a busy road so be mindful of that.

I honestly recommend this nursery. I'm very new to the world of plants. Went in looking for some hard to kill house plants. All of the employees were very helpful in figuring out what would work in different rooms of my home. Finding the right soil. Very patient with my questions. They didn't even try to use my lack of knowledge to sell me the most expensive plants. This will be my go to nursery as my confidence with plants grows. I know I can rely on their knowledge to make the right choices.
