Best selection of native plants in the East Bay. Great advice and landscape planning from Pete. Be sure to email him before you go (see website).

Really cool place!

After being disappointed by the selection at my usual Nursery, I was delighted by the selection of native plants at East Bay Wilds. I am planting a garden for my kids Elementary School, and trying to fit the plant shopping into my busy life. I walked in the door and Suzanne helped me select suitable plants for my location and situation. This place is amazing! There's so much variety, I will definitely be back for all my native plant needs.

Pete and his crew transformed my weed-choked backyard filled with bricks and boards into an oasis. They did the work quickly and efficiently and in four days I was looking out on a beautiful landscape filled with 24 native plants. Thanks so much for restoring my backyard.

Walked around for a good 15-20 minutes without not even a greeting or smile. Not sure if iy eas because I am black. Perhaps I dont look like their clientele. Sigh.

Make sure to call ahead to see what time they will be around. Great selection of native plants at fair prices, and Pete has a lot of personal experience with many species.

Always call first to see if they are open. This is my third attempt to see the place and today, no one was there. Another time, i came about a half hour before they closed and well, they were closing up right then. Looks like a great place for naticves, just tough to get in to buy. So call first and you will save some time.

It’s appointment and cash only which is a hassle in itself but even worse when they don’t show for the time they agreed to meet you. Thankfully an assistant was there after walking around aimlessly for a good 15 minutes but he spoke little English. I was able to have him call the owner and I talked to the owner over the phone. The owner had upped the price from what he told me 2 days before because it was supply and demand and he was getting a lot of interest for that plant and he realized he wanted to charge more . On top of that the assistant had no change so I over paid because of him not only upping the price higher than agreed but having no change so I paid way more than expected. If it weren’t for the fact I drove an hour for this specific plant I may not have bought at all. Parking is also horrendous.

If you've been to other area native nurseries and are looking for items you've never seen before, or for a deeper selection in a given category, like manzanitas, for example, go here. Retail is not the primary business of the owner, so you need to call and find out when it's open. Worth the effort for serious native shoppers.

guy is a bad human who tows his low-income neighbors for blocking a 3-car wide driveway when the business isn't even open while also catering to a mostly white clientele that is slowly but surely squeezing everybody whose lived here for decades out. so he says: "you should've seen what this neighborhood looked like before i got here." to which i say: "thanks for the steep rent, we were happier before you came along with your flock of Subaru's" also, scroll down a few posts to see their racism in action...the excuse from the owner about friday hours is BS and we all know it....they keep restricted hours to attempt to restrict and specify their clientele, while keeping those in the neighborhood out....case in point towing neighbors.
