Hands down one of the best grocery stores in Morgantown! The large selection of bulk items, local produce, and artisan gifts makes it a one-stop shop! The Co-op can even special order items for you if it's something they don't regularly carry. Venerable Bean Bakery is also sold here and will surely have a vegan treat to suit your needs!

Lots of bulk spices/nuts/grains etc. and many local (and some name brand) organic goods. There is a modest selection of excellent, local produce. If you regularly cook your own food and live in Morgantown this place is a must for spices, which are usually much cheaper than grocery stores. There are also lots of vegan options, such as cheese and pre-made burgers. There is a small bakery (Venerable Bean) inside that has an interesting selection of vegan food such as pepperoni rolls. Also worth noting are the household goods they sell such as a huge selection bulk Dr. Bronner's castille soaps, along with organic dishsoaps, laundry soaps, and similar products.

LOVE this place! They have great stuff there with fresh soup everyday and lots of vegan/gluten free dessert options freshly baked. AMAZING!!! Everyone who works there is super friendly, the best kind of people.

We love the Co op for its local eggs and meat and also bulk goods! In particular King Arthur Flour is significantly cheaper in bulk than at big box retail grocery stores. Also things like polenta or risotto are much cheaper, and higher quality!!

Great store with a long history. It's been around since 1975 making it one of the longest lasting downtown businesses in Morgantown. The Co-op has been through its share of ups and downs over the years which make it that much more special of a place. Some of the reviewers here don't really know what they're talking about as there is no and never has been an 'owner'. Mountain People's is a true cooperative owned by it's 650 strong membership. Under new management for the past two years the store is doing very well, fully stocked with a large selection of local, organic and fairly traded produce, meats, eggs, jams, coffees, teas flours, grains, beans nuts, granolas, treats and a crazy large selection of spices all at competitive prices. We (yes i'm a member) sell most of our foods in bulk which reduces cost to consumer. We also carry a selection of pre-packaged ready to eat foods from our deli, have a large selection of fun drinks, baked treats, household goods, vitamins, supplements, incense, local crafts, books. We can special order almost anything you might need, just ask one of the staff members to help out. Finally membership comes with significant benefits. Not only do you become an owner of a small piece of Morgantown history, you are entitled to discounts and special promotions. Just ask any staff person for more information.

A good place to visit if you're looking for natural non-GMO foods. Many items can be purchased in bulk and the prices are reasonable. Most meats and produce are locally sourced and items are usually available seasonally.

Amazing shop located in downtown Morgantown. I learned of purple bell peppers for the first time here. They provide a wide range supply of spices that you weigh yourself. Pretty awesome

Mountain People's Co-op is a beacon in the smog! If you're traveling through Morgantown and are looking for vegan/gluten free/local food, the co-op is one of your only choices. It has a very knowledgeable staff and a fully stocked store. It is bulk-oriented and prices are super reasonable; buying herbs/spices/grains anywhere else in Morgantown is foolhardy! Mountain People's also has ready-to-eat items if you're on the road: soup, macrovegan meals, drinks, fruit, and bulk snacks. The co-op has proved to be a very resilient business. It is definitely a milestone in Morgantown and the greater area (it's the only food co-op in WV!) Some people have the misconception that you have to have membership to shop there- definitely not true. You can absolutely go browsing without purchase. It's worth checking out, and the store smells AWESOME!

I think it's awesome that we have a store like this in our area and when they didn't have the strand of lettuce seeds I wanted, they ordered them for me and called me when they came in. Now that's what I call service! Do you think Walmart would do that for you? No way, that's what makes the difference, the extra mile to get you what you need, thanks again you guys are awesome!

Not only is the Co-Op one of the oldest businesses in town, it has been thriving over the past few onto especially. They have expanded almost every department, including meat and vegan options. The staff is extremely helpful and kind! You can definitely feel the sense of community you can't find in other shops. For a small community owned business, the Co-Op is just remarkable!

I like stopping in to find the things that are not easy to find just anywhere. They have great prices on farm fresh eggs. I always swing by to get 2 dozen ungraded eggs. They are very well priced. They also have bulk bins and items that are very exotic. You should check them out.
