The shelves are well stocked. A huge variety of produce much not sold in super markets. The same for items in the meat dept. Lots of fresh whole fresh fish. The prices are great.

I went today looking for some very specific and unusual Japanese ingredients and I found all of them. They also have extensive Chinese, Korean, Philippino and Thai items. The store is a bit old but it is kept clean and we'll stocked. The register areas are crowded and small but the service is quick and polite.

I didn't expect the grocery store to be so big, unlike the smaller ones I've been to like Ichiban or J-Mart this place is deffinatly a winner in not only size but a great selection of items. Theres almost one isle dedicated to tea alone, so I went in with intention to get green but instead I found a ginger tea instead and it taste awsome. As far as the grocery aspect two isles and more of produce, half Japanese and the other half of produce seems to be Chinese/Korean/a little American. I took my time looking around the meat section, seafood was set out and you could tell the fish was fresh by the smell. And the pork belly 1.99 a lb is actually a steal. I ended up getting ginger tea, my favorite shrimp chips, and a package of Korean Melon Cakes. I even got a Oriental poster for free for being fith person in line this morning so it was a win win. ^-^ As far as I'm concerned American Asian Foodmarket is so far the biggest grocer I've been too and excellent employees as well. I'd go again for the large selection of items they have.

I enjoy shopping here except when I was trying to buy a fish. I asked the lady where they got their fishes or seafood but she hardly spoke English... I'm not prejudice against Asian, but that was a huge disappointment. The super market has a variety of coffee that I love, their grocery section is also good. They also have a cooked food section which is awesome and a sushi area. It's a good place for Asian food lovers of Hampton Roads. You will find things not found anywhere else.

Smells of fish. As a vegan I get a little upset in there with the vats of turtles, jellyfish, etc. And the roasted ducks up front. However, they have a great selection of ramen, soy sauces, steambuns, and so much more. Even have good sake and plum wine. We just avoid the areas we dont appreciate in there. But if your looking to make exotic meat dishes, this is your place. They have frozen squid, conch, octopus, etc. All types of cured and canned meats, plenty of mushrooma to choose from.

Great selection and helpful staff for those of us less familiar with the inventory. Don't be afraid to ask for help and you will leave with what you need. If there is an asian ingredient you just can't find at Walmart or even Whole Foods or Trader Joes? You'll find it here... and you know what maybe you should just look here first? You get what you want and might even find something else to try ;)

Our first time at the AAFM was to get supplies for our first time attempting to make sushi. The owner of the store went out of his way to walk us around and point out everything we needed. He was extremely friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back

RIP OFF!!! My wife (Vietnamese) went in to buy a bunch of take-out. The cashier fouled up the first charge and "cancelled it." Two charges ended up on my statement The manager (Ian) was very uncooperative. My wife had to drive all the way from Norfolk to the beach to show him our bank statement in order to get this corrected. He wouldn't even give her a discount to compensate for the trouble. Stay away!!!

This store is big for nothing!.. Don't wasted money here... Seafoods are old, smelled bad odors , flies flying around, old Seafoods. No body know English well on the back hard to talk to them and wait too long for someone to clean fish.. Price ok, but the big problem is like I said smelled bad... They should change those Seafoods into a nice clean glass, keep it cold, fresh! Birds flying around inside the store. Sushi to go are old..not fresh at all!.. I like it big, have a lot vegetables, but not much fresh fruits...! Sorry! Not coming anymore!

They finally put in proper freezers with sliding doors where the open ones were so you don't freeze walking in! This is where I go to buy fresh stirfry Asian produce and bean sprouts

Large selection of Asian foods. They have produce, meats, frozen food and sauces. You can get 50 lb bags of Jasmine rice. Probably the best Asian market in the area.

A large Asian food store with selections from Japan, Thailand, Philippines, and China very reasonable prices. A great place to find oriental vegetables that you can't find anywhere else. They also have a small fish market where you can buy live crabs. Very helpful staff that assist you finding items that may be difficult for English speakers.

I wish I could rate this place higher as in the past it was a fantastic location to go to. But nowadays it seems that their produce is not as fresh as it used to be. Now with other locations such as four seasons and Grand Mart, it is easy to surpass the quality that you will get here. Price wise it is on par with both of the other two mentioned locations. But quality-wise the other two locations easily outpaced American Asian food mart.

Selection, variety, and price point are all great. It’s the service that brings me back. The first time I went in, the register was down and I was warned ahead of time to take my time. We meandered and took in the store and his register was back up before we were even half way around the store. He offered the kids candy by way of apology for our inconvenience and after assuring him we had planned to look around anyway, he still insisted. Fast, polite, and definitely the place to get specialty ingredients!

This business is a big joke selling old and bad smelling food, low quality products, dirty and very bad services. They are very rude to customer complain regarding potential health issues. Also they are very possible of hiring illegal immigrants working there.

For Virginia Beach, this is a larger sized Asian grocery. Their emphasis is on Chinese products, but they have lots of Japanese and some other as well. They have a very good variety of fresh produce, and sell fresh fish whole or cleaned while you wait.

WATCH OUT FOR SCAMMERS. My friend bought a whole chicken and the sticker said 15.99 and the cashier charged her for 18.99. I get that cashier might make mistakes but my friend said the cashier took a second before telling her the total and just ignored it. Since my friend was in a hurry(It takes a decent time to cook a whole chicken), she just went home and tryna come back couple days later to do a refund. The return policy is a week so my friend went there in 5 days. When she showed a lady the receipt and everything, what she first did was not apologize but said: You bought it in Oct xx (whatever day my friend bought the chicken)!?? Like my friend was tryna scam them. Then idk what else the lady asked my friend but she said she took forever to figure out what's wrong, but another guy came and gave my friend a refund. This place also sell expired groceries and snacks, unhealthy amd old lobsters and crab etc. The worst is the vegetables, they will hide the bad vegetables in the middle of the bag and use the good ones to cover it. They are probably the most dishonest business in the VB I have ever seen. If y'all want Asian groceries, just go the the Farmer's Int. Food in S Rosemount, not the best but better than this place.

This place is one of the best Chinese markets in the area. I come from a big city with a great Chinatown and am part Chinese myself. It's hard to replace what Virginia Beach is lacking but this place adds a bit of what's missing back into my life! They have your basic Asian veggies, condiments, dried and frozen goods. They even make a small selection of Chinese bakery items and bbq pork/roast duck in store. So far they are the only location I know of where you can buy some of these items. The cashier has been more friendly than I'm used to in my homes' Chinatown which is nice.

Not much good selections here for asian grocery stuff. They sell lunch meal which is a good deal less than $5. Seafood section is not so much too, they don't look fresh, I only grab blue crabs here when it is in season. Cheap prices for their meats and that is usually we buy here mostly. There is one guy here who can fluently speak english. So if he's not working and you need to ask a little bit of complicated question then you are in trouble :). Otherwise good prices.
