This place is great; its mostly very local produce, just like the Co-op, but guess what? It is way cheaper; huh... And the quality is excellent. Big and beautiful pieces of fruit, veggies, etc plus some dairy and tofu. They are always busy and sometimes the service is a bit eccentric but always very friendly and helpful; love this place.

Stern’s has reorganized the flow of the store and feels less like a maze. The old store was a charming old world market experience, but it’s easier to find things in the new layout. They now take credit/debit cards.

Stern's is the best! Their produce is the freshest around, and much, much cheaper than any grocery store. Their selection changes frequently, so you can try lots of different fruits and vegetables. They also have local eggs, dairy products and dirt-cheap nuts. I highly recommend Stern's for an affordable healthy lifestyle! But keep in mind that they only take cash and are closed on Sundays.

Remember your checkbook or cash, no cards except EBT. Judy is always ready to visit and help out with many specialty veg, from bitter melon to tamarind, as well as the best value on cabot cheeses.

High quality produce at prices that can't be met elsewhere. Pros quality selection: the usuals plus a wide selection of more "exotic" finds, daikon, 4 different varieties of mushrooms, baby bok choy etc. PRICE: head of cauliflower that was ENORMOUS cost $2.25. The same head, that's usually smaller runs about $5 at the Coop. Eccentric counter help Cons Cash or check only bring your own bags + produce bags some of the staff that were stocking seemed a little on the gruff side Parking is a little funky, go on a week day and heed their suggestion to back in

I've enjoyed buying from Sterns. I've been going every couple of weeks for some time. But today a bad experience means I will shift most of my buying elsewhere. I was told one day, that they did not take debit/credit cards. I know I had paid with one previously, but they said I was mistaken. Today, after a long wait in line (Saturday mornings are busy) as I was finally third in line, the woman at the front wanted to pay with a credit card. Everyone else had paid in cash. Apparently a friend of someone there it was allowed. The clerk had to go to a different counter to run it, coming back to confirm the total, etc. It took a while. And then the woman second in line *also* wanted to pay with a card. I have, before every visit, made sure to stop at the bank for cash. :P It was very reminiscent of the old Bagel Basement. Luckily a new Asian grocery store around the corner in Lebanon seems to carry most of what I need!

Sterns is a great place to get cheap produce. Their prices are almost half of what produce is in the local grocery stores. I had a hard time finding their hours though, so here are their hours. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone! M-Th 10am-5:30pm; F 10am-6:30pm; Sat 10am-4:30pm; Closed on Sunday

This place is awesome. It's basically a produce stand but it's enclosed. The selection is really good, lots of great produce that even the grocery store doesn't always have, plus some other local goodies. Also, the value is incredible, for $10 I got a huge bushel of kale, tomatoes, an onion, and some tangerines, and some garlic. It's probably the best deal on produce in town.
