We picked up a delicious steak and sweet corn on the cob and dessert for later. The staff was helpful and friendly as usual. We always visit River Valley when staying at the lake house.

River Valley Market had my review deleted despite being an actual customer with an actual complaint. Rather than respond to the reviews my wife and I left they tried to have us silenced. What they did was bad enough but I guess an apology was too much to ask. Original review below... My wife and I ordered a $40.00 lunch here on a trip to Wilmington. When I asked if my 7 month pregnant wife could use their restroom, the woman working was extremely rude. I told her we would have to cancel our order because a woman in her third trimester cannot wait 20-30 minutes to pee. She responded with “I don’t even know what your order was.” We were the only people in the place, it shouldn’t have been that hard to figure out. Eventually she said we could use the bathroom. I replied that after her initial apprehension (read: extreme rudeness) we’d rather just leave. She accused me of being rude to her and I replied that I didn’t realize it was even legal to deny a restroom to a pregnant woman. She said that they were not legally required to have restrooms because they didn’t have seating which they obviously do. To this day I wonder what we should have done in her mind. We went to a pizza place down the road which had restrooms and we managed to have lunch for significantly less than our bill at River Valley. I don’t normally write reviews, but I believe this woman was either the manager or owner. Who denies a pregnant woman spending a decent amount of money a restroom? I believe with the tables they had set up that what she did was not only illegal but just plain cruel. The only reason they hide behind that law is because they are too cheap to provide restrooms.

I visited River Valley two years ago. At the time I was in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy. My husband and I had ordered food and asked to use the restroom. The woman stated there were no public restrooms and that I was unable to go. Being very pregnant, I was unable to wait for our lunch. When my husband cancelled our food order so that we could leave, the woman working there got extremely defensive and rude. We did not understand how a place that served food, and had seating, did not provide public restrooms. When my husband asked about this, she said they were not legally required to because they had no seating. We clearly saw tables. I had brought my husband to Wilmington because I had grown up there and wanted to show him my home town. It left such a bad impression on us that we are still discussing it years later, hence the reason for this review.

It's a little pricey, but doggone it...the meat quality and selection is wonderful. Staff is helpful and they have a great selection of Vermont cheeses, as well. Fresh fish and meats...nice steaks and pork chops.
