Fruits and vegetables not up to expectations at the asking price. Some things a little over ripe. Expected a step above the normal grocery store but not really the case for produce. Speciality items may be worth a trip but everything a little spendy.

North Portland comes of age with its new upscale grocery store near University Park and St. Johns. With a similar footprint to the Hawthorne store, they bake their own organic breads daily on site, feature a full service coffee and tea bar, food cooked to order, and an amazing deli section. I wanted lemon in my tea one day and they sent me to produce where a friendly staff selected a lemon and ask me how thick I wanted it sliced. Now that is service!

This is such a great market!! Huge selection of delicious products (I particularly like Elenos yogurt and chocolate milk made from....peas!). I highly recommend trying a wok-made meal (you choose all the ingredients). The employees are always friendly and helpful!

This is my favorite grocery store in North Portland. - The bulk section is great, plus I can refill my glass mason jars directly vs. wasting plastic on a bag. I do wish they carried a few more bulk items, like corn-free gummy candies and tapioca starch. But it's a small store; they've done well with the space they have. - Cashiers are always friendly and helpful. - The staff in the meat department are always willing to package my meat as I ask. - Shopping the sales makes it affordable. I look forward to the seasonal 50% off sales every weekend. (Ice cream in the summer, nut butters before school starts, bulk and dry goods in the winter.) - Amazing produce. You can taste anything you want; I never have to guess if *this* batch of oranges/apples/whatever is ripe and flavorful or mealy and gross. - Hot food / deli / salad bar are more tasty than most restaurants, and costs less, too.

It's a clean, well-lighted place with friendly, helpful clerks. Selections are many. Gift items artfully arranged among essentials. Can't find something? Easy to ask, usually they have. Store brands help shoppers to buy organic. Local products a priority. In house butcher shop. Salad, olive bar. Fresh bread. Awesome veggies. Looking to do healthy? Then, this is your store. Look no more. Parking is very logical and there always seems to be a spot. Ride the bus? Stops nearby.

The store's claim of "The Friendliest Store in Town" is true. Employees are helpful, outgoing, and cheerful. The selection of foods available is carefully and consciously chosen rather than being an unedited collection of everything available for purchase. Meats and seafood are fresh and carefully cut, the produce department is extensive and the bakery items are beautiful created and presented. On Wednesdays seniors recover a 10% discount as do veterans on Tuesdays. A welcome addition to our community!

Great local, healthy grocery store chain in Portland. Exceptional butcher shop with a large selection of ground meats(both seasoned and plain), lamb, chicken, beef, turkey, pork ... seafood! In addition to finding your regular groceries, it'sEASY to find special diet items like gluten-free, dairy free, vegan, etc. Cold wine, beer, soda, kombucha, juice, milk and milk alternatives are available as well as store-made grab and go items. There is a hot BREAKFAST BAR (lunch/dinner too I think) with traditional and alternative offerings. Soup and salad bar, full deli with store made delisciousnesses, fresh baked breads and desserts and an expansive cheese shop with olive bar offer great variety from friendly, COMPETANT staff. The New Seasons Market on Lombard (that I can't stay out of) has the most beautiful produce shop I've ever seen. The wide variety of colors and textures on the small cold wall display are visually stunning and super fresh. The fruit and vegetable table displays poivide The nicest barista chic made me a honey coffee drink with my beloved almond milk and drew a tree on top too! Can't go wrong here!

Almost everything in the store is high quality, especially the beer, wine, and cheese selections and the dessert case. All that being said, this chain of grocery stores is vastly overpriced, especially in produce and meat and seafood. It is a beloved darling of gentrifying neighborhoods full of soccer moms and hipsters who think it's cool to drop $200 on a week's worth of groceries you could get at Freddy's or Safeway for a third less. I get special items like the Thanksgiving turkey here, and enjoy the ramen bar because there isn't any other in St Johns, but they need to learn from Whole Paycheck and lower their prices.

For the Wok station, Please have Cooks or prep cooks steam or boil the green beans, they were Completely raw and NOT edible, I have dental issues, it'd be Nice if they can steam the veggies so people can actually chew them, I'm also a cook and Know it's Important for ALL people despite their mobility to be able to enjoy a Wok meal. I would rate the New Seasons at this location as being almost 5 star. I have had all excellent experiences with the staff and the crew that exceeds my expectations. They ARE friendly. I have had excellent experience with product return and the quality of the food as excellent except for one time when I got a saute at the deli, it was really not good. I think it was the sauce. I think it was peanut sauce. It was not good.

I do want to say new seasons is nice but not a budget minded person kind of store. Sales are good from time to time. Staff is always great. I would have done 3 stars but my thing with them is it's pricey. I'll go to whole foods for pricy. Just always add $15 $20 dollars to what you think your cart is at on your estimate.

Its a little expensive but you get what you pay for. Hasn't been super busy when I go there. I rode my bike there because I live close and I forgot my lock. They have bike locks that you can borrow for that exact situation. I thought that was really cool. Also a good way to steal bike locks. Jk.

By far the best grocery store in the St John's area. Most of what they stock is the best of its kind, and doesn't come cheap, although there are sales on categories every weekend. The produce in particular is always top-notch. The employees are friendly and helpful and there are tastings on Saturdays and Sundays. If you're on a budget, the best strategy is to buy your staples at a budget grocery and come here for centerpiece foods, treats and specials. You'll often find something you've never heard of that becomes a new favorite.

I only stopped in for a baguette, as we were driving home from a day trip, but because I work at a different natural grocery store I definitely checked it out. Parking lots at all New Seasons stores are problematic. Always overcrowded. This store seemed a bit dark and gloomy around the front entrance/check out area. But they had what I wanted and a nice selection over all. Prices were good.

Absolutely love this store. It is nice to finally have a New Seasons near my house. It is smaller than other New Seasons I've been in, but they have pretty much everything. I love a New Seasons. The staff are generally very friendly, especially the folks at the meat counter. I love that you can taste pretty much anything you want. I've had the produce folks cut me slices of different fruits to compare varieties. I have been somewhat disappointed by the limited selection and quality in the "floral department" and sometimes, if you come later in the day, the produce looks like it's seen better days. I do have to go to Arbor Lodge when I want certain things but I generally do all my New Seasons shopping at this store.

Frankly, the selection is amazing, the food “made to order” was excellent. You can’t go wrong shopping here. Good parking lot and it’s not crazy busy inside.

You have to admire how optimistic hippies keep trying to build up the failed social experiment the illuminated ones refer to as St John's. As much as they try to build something good there (like a health conscientious grocery store) the poverty and gang element from the east neighborhood next door always comes to rain on their parade (usually with sporadic and unsettling outbursts of violence)...... my step grandpa tried to build up st Johns decades prior, from a Catholic angle.. that didn't work either...... a big Nike or Intel factory (both of which I despise) might bring some sense of moral salvation to the poverty stricken inhabitants who surround this area, simply because a better economic condition often helps everyone, as game theory has taught the wise men, but I don't think good intentioned hippies will ....... in conclusion, nice store ...... weird they carry Pepsi, sprite and coke, and I would prefer it were vegan

I've been to a lot of grocery stores in my life but this place blew me away. The entire store smelled like fresh food not canned air. You could smell each type of veggy as you walked by it and the meat and bakery depts just made me drool. The folks there are so helpful and friendly. Not only did two different people help answer questions, they actually took the time to walk with me to the items I was searching for. I honestly wish I could afford to shop there everyday.

I do like the selection of goods and foods that they have here, and you can always go to the butcher counter for fresh organic meat. However there is a serious markup on prices here (even something as simple as friskies is marked way up). However they have a selection that no one else can beat so it's always a good place to go and visit.

New Seasons is pretty great. I go there especially for produce and meat because of the locality and quality. I will say, the vibe is not what it used to be since New Seasons was purchased by an investment group out of Seattle. The staff, who are always fantastic, don't seem as happy, and I'd imagine because of that, they're not as friendly. But I still shop there, hoping to support a semi-local company. I just hope the executives figure out that growth for growth's sake is not always worth it when the quality of life of employees suffers.
