Great grocery store but local tweakers hang out here

By far the best grocery option in town. The selection is limited, keeping in with the fact that we are a small town, but you can find most things you need. The prices can be higher than Safeway, but the experience is so miserable there that you’ll come running back to McKay’s fast. Some employees are nice, others not so much, but again, by comparison, it’s a much better, way less depressing experience. One odd thing...they don’t sell heads of lettuce, just lettuce in bags or plastic containers. Not sure why.

They left an pallet empty in their store and I tripped over it and landed on my knees really hard...i caught my foot on the edge of the wooden pallet...i fell so hard it ripped and broke the straps right off my new shoes that cost me well over $100.00. A employee stalking the shelf just looked down on me in shock and finally said to me..do you need help up. I'n like duh I need help up and yes i am hurt...they got me a scooter to sit on and wrote out a accident report....did they help me to my car no. I had to go to emergency room. My foot was not broken but badly sprain and I was in a lot of pain for about 10 days before I could wear a shoe again. You would think they would at least offer to buy me a new pair of shoes to replace the ones that broke since it was their fault they left an empty pallet on the floor. Hey have my name and phone number and no they never bothered to call and ask me if I was doing ok or anything the next day. They still have my phone number they can at least buy me a new pair of shoes.

This review is mostly directed towards a specific employee who works here at Mckays in Reedsport. STEPHANIE or STEPHY has horrible customer service. Every time I get her ,at the check out line, she never says hello. There has been times that she just stares at me with out even telling me how much I owe. She is short and has strait grey hair and glasses. Also, I believe she is a manager which is despicable. Employees like STEPH make me not want to shop at Mckays.

Love the new coolers. Looks really nice, easy to find everything. And I found out if they aren't carrying a product they will do the best they can to get it. McKay's is now carrying non-dairy cheese and pizza!!! So nice to not have to drive to North Bend/ Coos Bay to get these items. Thank you McKay's!!

It seems that the McKay's in Reedsport is now half the size. Sadly it seems that they have reduced customer service by more than that. My wife ran in to pick up some items and the lady at the check stand asked if she found everything ok (her name on the receipt was Krystal) . My wife said that several of the things she needed were out of stock. At this point she was basically ignored, no "I'm sorry" nothing. My wife is disabled and even wears a wrist brace. This lady bagged several heavy items into one bag then walked off. No offer to help her get anything into her cart/scooter, just walked off without a word. A manager or supervisor at the next check stand was to busy gossiping with someone else to notice or care either. What a shame.

the specials are good ,some of their older staff have a lot to be desired when it comes to friendliness One of the cashiers { who has been there forever ] still is sometimes very very slow to check people out when one of her buddies is in front of her , one man just left his groceries and walked out , , i just try to use another line when she is there , the manager said that she is going to retire soon ,

Camping along the Oregon coast and stopped in for a few items. Went for a baguette. Wrapped in plastic wrap in the paper sheath. Thought that to be strange. At dinner found out the baguette was past date and started to mold. Well, not backtracking a few miles to exchange.
