I was particularly excited to learn that they would be roasting Hatch chilies. I called to find out if the produce department could meet my needs. The person who answered went way beyond expectation to find the answers to my questions about a bulk order. Then when I arrived at the store to enjoy the heady fragrance of chilies roasting (taking me right back to New Mexico memories), the young woman doing the roasting was so accommodating and professional, I could not be more pleased.

Went in for a birthday cake and the staff was extremely helpful. Helped me pick the perfect one and even wrote a message on it. It was so good and everyone loved it. It was my first time in and it seemed like there was quite a bit of good stuff in the bakery/deli. Also I noticed some products that I usually get at PCC or whole foods was a couple bucks cheaper.

They had no one manning the sandwich counter... at noon. Waited 20 minutes for them to realize this was the case, at which point they began making the sandwiches of the three people who had put in their orders after me. Came here hoping for a quick sandwich on my short lunch break, but that was emphatically not the case. Their food is good though.

The store is clean and new. Most workers are polite. One cashier was a bit too chatty with a couple in front of me.... commenting on each item. But the thing that amazed me was the selection. The bulk area was quite minimal and had more candy than nuts and essentials. The aisle with sauces and ketchup type stuff was long and high and had a large variety. The bakery was a mockery of the word. I saw no bread I'd buy and the pastry was not very good looking. A very large wine selection. Lots of snacks too. It wasn't bad. Just not good. I'll try one of the other two MOC next time.

This place ain’t too bad. Prices are a bit high but not excessively overpriced. Although some of the “ethnic” options that I buy tend to be marked up tremendously. One problem of probably many more, workers aren’t paid a living wage and don’t even get employee discounts. Sounds pretty messed up especially since this store is in a zone for “urban renewal” (code for gentrification).

Market of Choice is a higher end grocery store that is similar to New Seasons, Whole Foods and Zupans. They have a hot food, deli, pastry, meat, cheese and wine section. Lots of their products are from local companies and they have some unique items that I haven't seen at some of the other grocery stores previously mentioned. It's worth walking each aisle to see what they have. Their bulk section isn't as large as some of the New Seasons, but they have the basics. They also have bulk spices. Expect to pay more than Safeway, QFC or Fred Meyer. But also expect to find higher quality and more unique items.

Products were fine, prices high, staff member gave me kinda a hard time. I encountered one staff member that made me go around in an unnecessary circle because I was in the wrong place in line, I was the only one in line, man in front was done but putting money back in wallet. There was a partition and I was on the wrong side so instead of having me make three steps to the counter she made me take twenty around the partition. Mind you there was no one there but me.. Talk about weird. My husband watched as it happened and he was like "what the heck?" Oh well. Kinda funny now that I think about it.

Love this quaint but well stocked location! It's always a good idea to come to Market of Choice for a quick lunch, snack, or special occasion good. They also have a really great stock of vegan products. Check out the bakery as well for yummy fresh treats.

It is fairly new and modern. Reminds me of whole foods and new season. Connects to a bar and fast food nearby. Up the balcony you can eat your food, has a coffee shop that also sells smoothies. Neat and clean, friendly vibe from the workers and the place is easy to navigate for groceries. Since it ia close to downtown the price is pricey which is understandable, the location is accessible through the bus and parking is available in the parking garage below. Been open for almost 5 years now, has been doing quite well.

Great new shopping option on Belmont now that Zupans is closed. It can be pricey but not compared to New Seasons/Wholefoods, it's not quite at their level but close. I purchased a prepacked lunch sandwich on my first visit and was not impressed (more Safeway than Wholefoods) but subsequent purchases at the deli counter have been great. Awesome breakfast food also. Pretty good selection of wines and beers although not so much on the cheaper side. Staff are friendly although sometimes slow at check out. The coffee counter is particularly slow, order when you enter and pick up on your way out! Great street parking options make for a quick trip - unless you want coffee.

In the past six weeks or so, there have been four incidents where Market of Choice on Belmont overcharged me for items on sale. It happened again Tuesday evening. White peaches are on sale for $1.99 lb, The cashier charged $2.99 lb. I told her of the error and she confirmed it by going to the white peach display. The pricing error equals a 50% overcharge. I assume that these mistakes are unintentional accidents by Market of Choice, but I do wonder how much extra profit they are making in their inaccuracy. What also concerned me was the cashier's somewhat lackadaisical response to the problem. When I asked her how this was going to be corrected for everyone else who purchases the peaches, her response was "I noted it to management". When I asked how long that would take to be corrected, her response was "I'm just a clerk. I don't make the rules". A poor response. In case MOC needs to confirm that I'm not just making this up, here is the receipt information: Lane #4, Checker #27, Trans #132, 7/30/19 @ 9:49 PM I urge Market of Choice to be more accurate in their sale pricing. The customer shouldn't have to be the "accuracy police".

I used to love getting a smoothie here everyday with a few of my friends but recently (the last 2-3 weeks) i've left there with a very bad feeling. The service i've been getting at the cafe where they make the smoothies has been poor at best. And Beth has taken her aggressions out on our smoothies by slamming things around and cursing behind the counter. I have complained to the management more then once but the behavior from the girls who make the smoothies has gotten worse not better. They haven't been filling my cup up all the way even after i've paid extra for extra things in my smoothies. I've not been happy and either have my friends.maybe we will go somewhere else for our daily smoothies.

This rating is solely based on what I ate from this store. I bought a small/medium size packaged box of decent sized Chicken Tenders, that came with a delicious sweet/tangy/medium spicy barbecue sauce. I microwaved them first because they come cold in the cold case area, using the in-store microwave. They have several microwaves which is super cool & you can also drink your purchased canned/bottled alcohol in the front seating area after they open it for you (Another FYI). :) They were perfect in taste & the sauce was literally finger-lickin-good! :) I'm a very picky person in general, so to say they were great is a big... I just hope they don't stop selling them... Also, the price was not so bad, yet they could drop the by pound price about $0.40 cents to make it super awesome; because you could serve them at small to medium sized parties if you want convenience... Overall, I'd definitely buy them again.

Try the recyling center here especially if you are a female and want to be talked down to by the male employee working who demanded repeatedly to know if I read the sign and the name of ALL the employees who told me To go down there w my cans before I shopped again at market of choice. After feeling threatened and unsafe to n a sunday evening by this particular employee i left my bag if cans and walked away in tears over how how hostile he was. My new favorite Portland grocery store. Everyone is always extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Though it is not a huge market they manage to have an exceptional selection of items. The only thing I have trouble finding there is a good variety of organic citrus in the produce department. However, not only do they have hard to find items, like Ripple plant based milk, but the music and lighting, and the vibe in general always make it a positive shopping experience. The underground parking makes it easy to get in and out, too.

Prices here are steep, but they reflect a certain type of neighborhood that has quickly been built in this area. The juxtaposition between homeless camp up the street and this veritable cornucopia of expensive and fresh grocery goods is pretty striking. They even have a poke bar if you can afford the $14.99 a pound pricing. Got a hankering for something? They've got it for you, but you have to be willing to pay the price. I hope the workers are well paid so they can afford to shop here. Free parking below, just go right when going down 11th. Check out the breakfast burritos in the morning. They have like 5 different varieties. Which is something you can say about pretty much every item at Market of Choice. No trash on the staff though. They seem pretty great.

Buyer beware, check your tickets closely as you're rung up. I shop here regularly and observe frequent overpricing habits on items ringing up higher than they're marked sale price is. I highly encourage all shoppers to pay close attention to their tickets. This happens so often to me that no doubt it's occurring to most of their shoppers and most goes without notice. I'm changing my review from 4 down to 1 star. I originally stated the products are good but prices are meh. However, my experiences are consistently met with overcharged ring ups 9/10 times. Most of the time products are marked down for sale, they do not ring up this way. As of this post certain orowheat loaves are marked down to $2.59. I had to point out to the clerk that it rung up as $4.99, almost double. This experience is extremely common. When I point this out no one ever contests it they just correct the price on faith to me. . This is happening FAR TOO FREQUENTLY. Market of Choice, if this behavior ceases I may update my review.

They had the best pure natural products & better priced than New Seasons, Whole Foods, etc. One of the supplements I compared was $5 less! Great deodorants & makeup too. We got our wedding cake through the bakery at this Market of Choice and I can honestly say I've never heard so many compliments on a basic sheet cake! Even though it wasn't anything super fancy (which they also do), our cakes were still given a great amount of attention and detail. When I spoke to an associate about working there, they responded that nearly all the staff is currently looking for other work. Such an incredibly beautiful store and I love that it’s in the neighborhood. Parking is easy underneath the store and always lots of available seating to have a nice lunch and see grocery shopped or before you shop. Or maybe you’re not shopping at all and you just want to stop in for a bite. Incredible selection of salad bars hot and cold and a variety of other ethnicities to choose from. The coffee bar is excellent as well and I’m so glad to say that it’s not Starbucks. Highly recommended

This is by far the best grocery store in Portland. 5 Stars! It is extremely clean and always well stocked. The staff is super friendly and very helpful. All of the products are top tier and delicious. Great choices and prices are fair for the city. They have a covered parking garage with ample space; it’s so nice not to have to fight for a space or worried about getting hit like at TJ’s or New Seasons. The best part: their bakery! Kudos to all of the bakers because it’s incredible. I see them hustling and keeping everything pristine and want to give that department a big shout out. Market of Choice is def our main grocery store in the city now. Can’t wait to shop again.

This one is super nice. Love the dining area, it sits above the store with a coffee station and tvs. Very kush and neat to see the store in birdseye. Lots of good options. Though i did notice an air about the workers...think they may have a tight leash. It makes a difference to us!

I bought a sandwich wrap out of their deli case tonight. When I opened it, both halves were a deep green along the bottom. I couldn't tell if it was mold, or not. When I brought it back to the store, an employee who worked in the kitchen told me it wasn't mold - she said the entire tortilla is normally green, but that it had been in the case so long that the rest of the tortilla had faded to white. Even if that's true, it still sounds disgusting. I left it with them.

This place surprised me. Their other stores tend to be expensive. This one not so. They have a great deli, I got a hamburger and it was delicious. The people in the deli are very friendly and so are the baristas. My only negative was my cashier. Didn't engage, didn't even say hello. Only thing she said was " do you need a bag".

Usually the food is excellent from here. Today i got hunks of dirt in my salad.... like huge chunks. I tried the mushrooms, thought they would be delicious. Dont get mushrooms from the salad bar as they arent properly prepped.
