Disappointed, to say the least. I am writing this a review a few weeks from my visit, however I feel it’s my duty to inform customers of this scam, known as Jim’s Fruit Stand. Popped by to get some fruit for the road and I was appalled at the condition and price of the produce. Take for instance an apple covered in mold and rotting being sold for $2.50 each. EACH. We also decided to buy a couple of glass cokes. I believe the markup was $3.50. Decided to continue with our purchase as there isn’t a decent food stop for miles, however the woman at the cash register, whom I have reason to believe is the owner/co-owner of the store, really needs to have a revisit on cashier regulations. Ringed us up for our 4 items, came out to a total of 19.75, or something near to that. Our actual total was 12.36. She didn’t think twice and told us to pay. After paying and confronting her, she blamed the machine which was unmistakably old, though how on earth could this machine mess up by such a large margin. It was clear she committed fraud by punching in 19.75 (or something near). The receipt she gave us for our order is bogus; it has no indication of our total, credit card information, what we bought, and I simply cannot decipher anything from what she gave us. In fact, it looked like someone else’s receipt and maybe a reconfiguration of the janky machine. After confronting her, she gave us somewhat the correct amount of change as she asked us for the prices and she estimated, and still had it in her to throw in a sassy comment before we departed. Once again, my intention for this review is to inform you, the customer, of this scam and hopefully the owners will receive a visit soon from a health inspector and receive some sort of training on proper cash handling. Attached below is our “receipt”.
