REVIEWS OF Amish Market IN New Jersey

Excellent go-to spot in Hell's Kitchen for groceries ora quick pay-by-the-weight dinner option. Groceries are somewhat expensive, but they have some very nice brands and a few gourmet sections like the Olive/Olive Oil area. Their salad and hot food bar is pretty well stocked, if predictable, and still tastes good even towards the end of the night. For $10 you can get a huge mix of salads and a meat (chicken, fish, sausages, etc) that will leave you stuffed. Try the barley salad, its got cranberries and cinnamon and is delicious and healthy. My only complaint is that they close kind of early (9pm I think).

So scared. My daughter loves this one Vanilla cupcake at Amish market, so we went for a special trip yesterday to grab 2 of them for her. When we got home, we saw that they put 2 of the wrong cupcake in, 2 banana flavored ones. Not a big deal to me, but to a 4 year old, this was the world crumbling. I then called the Amish Market and the girl on the phone was very nice and told me to just come in first thing in the morning and they will give me the correct cupcake. I came in (about a 30 min trip from the Upper East side, but you'll do anything for your daughter) and told them just to replace it with one cupcake, I didn't need both. THEN they asked where the other cupcake was to exchange. WHAT!? First off, they didn't tell me I needed to bring this on the phone. Second, what type of place wants a day old cupcake that has been sitting at someone's house BACK!?! What kind of health code violation is that???? Then they told me I needed to pay for the new cupcake if I didn't have the old one to exchange. Now, it is $2.99. I can well afford this, but just PRINCIPLE. They then pointed to a portly man that wore stained jeans and whose butt crack was hanging out and a sloppy shirt with BO stains on armpits and food all over face and they said that THIS is the manager to speak with him. I then went over and told him the situation (although he smelled like he hasn't showered in a decade) and he said "TOO BAD. Either we get the other cupcake or you have to pay". When I told him that the girl on the phone simply told me to pick it up, he said (In front of her) she doesn't speak English, you shouldn't have listened to her" WHAT!?! He then SCREAMS at the girl for apparently giving me bad information. It was in a different language and sounded COMPLETELY abusive as the girl looked ready to cry. I then told him I would pay for the cupcake, but as regular customers for the last 5 years, it would be the last time I step foot in there. I asked if $2.99 was worth the thousands of dollars lost that my wife and I have spent there over the years and were happily planning on doing again for the next several years. He said "I LOSE money by giving you a free cupcake" What a businessman, eh? He then goes and tells another random customer how terrible and incompetent his staff his and how annoying customers like me are. IN FRONT OF ME! When he walked away, the staff told me that this Manager was brand new and VERY abusive toward them on a regular basis. Somebody please save the Amish Market. Have literally never had any issue there until tonight. This is preposterous. It is 9:15PM on November 20. If someone of hierarchy at Amish market is reading this, PLEASE note this nasty manager. One of the most disgusting abusive human beings I have ever seen. I am just one story. How many other customers did this man lose just by being scary and insulting and having the absolute worst customer service attitude known to man. Until this Manager is gone, we have officially banned this place.

It's a great place to get something to eat. Very clean place and most of the worker's are nice and friendly.

Robert LaFrance

Without a doubt the best grocery store in Hell’s Kitchen

Andrea Barceló

Definitely a place to go. Great place with high quality at decent prices (for NY) We found it by chance, and were greatly surprised. The price is slightly lower than the other local supermarkets, and the quality significantly higher. Moreover... They are nice!

Will Graham

quality food

Mehmet Rezan Altinkaynak

I really liked their stuff, i had a muffin and amish coffee. Recommended...

Jacqueline Dragoni

Very well set up. Has every healthy option that I love. Extremely clean, I even stopped by at 9pm and it was as stocked and clean as when I was there at 10 am. Check it out!

Richard Holst

Great selection of gourmet and healthy foods. Hot bar/salad bar/soup selection is amazing!!

Gonzalo Aranda

Best option in 9th Ave. Great food by pound. Fresh products. Don't sell beer or any other buzz :(

George Roy

Good fresh food

Richard Eshelman

Fresh and fair prices for authentic Amish goods.

Julett Pineda

A little bit pricey, but had so many different options! Everything looks fresh and delicious!

Jaime Graham

This market still uses styrofoam packaging!!! This law took effect January 2019, the law starts to get enforced July 1st, 2019. They continue to wrap fruit with plastic wrap and styrofoam, I can’t wait to report this market to 311. The owners ignorance is disgusting, soon 311 will investigate theses violations and you will be required to pay and get unannounced inspections. We are in a climate crisis, do you part!!!

Julie Arora

Great local store with a lot of variety!

Violet C

best street grocery store! Clean and cute inside, and you'll find so many healthy good novelties!

Andreas Berner

The prices seem really high.

Giselle

I just love their tomato cheddar soup.

Connie Hsu

Great great great place. A+ food and very affordable prices for their buffet bars

Eivind Natås

Very good food, almost everything you can imagine

Helen Terplak

Good food

Samuel Croset

Best grocery store in Hells kitchen, wide range of fresh product, reasonably priced for New-York city.

Glynis Forde

Love this place. Great sandwiches and buffet. Fruits and vegetables are superior.

C L

I love their hot soup bar! Small tables to eat in. Bakery staff were not honest with me. I was looking for a chocolate layer cake, not mousse type cake. I was told the larger cake was 3 layer. When I got it home, voila, mousse inside : ( …

I’ve only been in this store twice since I move to the Neighborhood in April Good store great location Price is a little too high but every Employee that works there Stare

Love this little market

Vindora Macadan

I bought Salsa to eat with the tostitos for a movie night with my kids “the end game” and my 9 year old son was having a hard time opening the jar, I helped him opening and notice a rusted sound while I’m opening it, what happened next was disgusting... a strong spoiled smell came out of it and had dead worms inside of it and greenish look too. I vomited. I’ll be returning both salsa jars and a jam I got there as well. Never going there again, I can’t spend money in a store where expiration date is being change. The love I had for this supermarket just went out the window. If you not selling certain products that much then consider reducing your stock.

Brenda Bozeman

Such a delightful place! An amazing variety of food stuffs!

Eser SEVİL

Whatever you need is here. Different cultures, different products and very delicious food. Open buffet available. You can find many Turkish products as well as others. I should advice you somon fish and mushroom soup. You can buy it and eat there. Tables are available. You must try and stop by if you miss your home food.

Peter Zunitch

Very fresh. Clean comfortable environment. Good prices.

Sarah Thérèse

This place was awesome. Wayyy bigger than it seems from the outside. A great selection of produce, natural, specialty, and health foods, as well as ordinary grocery items. I was so happy with the variety. There's also a great prepared foods bar (hot and cold) if you want to just stop in for a quick meal. It was surprisingly affordable and well priced for New York city.

nancy wolfe

It is always good. Nice peoe, excellent food and market

Derek Cutting

Surprisingly large selection of groceries. They really pack it in. Some items are a good deal, others are expensive, overall it's about average price. There are discounts at their hot bar and salad bar in the evening.

Souma Souma

Great space

daniele sechi

Bit on the pricey side but good market. Slice service is a little inconsistent I would say: I get thay as the concept of "thin" is relative but 4 slices cherrywood ham that make 1 pound... cannot definitely be called thin! :) but I find …

Juan Pedro Battaglino

Charming place. Nice Food. Nice service. I truly recommend it.

Kathy Duncan

Really nice fresh fruit and veg, coffee and tea to go. Pre made meals, snacks, great selection of healthy options. I particularly liked the variety of sorbets, sheep and goat and non dairy yoghurt. Good gluten free options too. Nice decor.

Vishal Kothari

Lot of stuff inside the store to take care of needs of every customer. It doesn't look so big from the outside.

Annette Mignato

No frills gourmet grocery store Relaxing atmosphere, definitely better than a typical market. Definitely could use more lighting near the cash register Overpriced but what isn't in NYC

Travis Copeland

Best produce in town, and at a (locally) competitive price. Insider tip: pretty good pastries in their bakery. Surprisingly good rhubarb off-season. Probably my favorite market in midtown.

Xavier Whitley II

Always good food

Rachel Fitzgerald

Always a pleasure

Mohamed Shams

Excellent value. Consistent quality. This store is a gem for anyone who lives in the area. There aren't many stores with this kind of variety within a short walkable distance. A sufficient selection of fresh fruits and vegetables. Some specialty baked goods; quality plates and treats that are not common elsewhere. The meat counter is nice. And the Olive bar is good for the context.

John McKinney

We love this grocery. The staff is always hustling, but never too busy to offer assistance. The staff has improved over the past couple of years. Smaller grocery but they have great products. And on the pricier side but for quality.

Amy G

Anytime I’m in town I try to come here. The food is always delicious from their soup to the buffet. The cashiers aren’t always the friendliest, but the food gets you through. I do wish they would keep some of the hot buffet items warmer.

Adam Trend

Great neighborhood market. I'm constantly surprised they have the same brands I like from the big super market. Slightly higher prices but worth it for the location.

Jad-Uri Covington

Lots of tasty connections, has just about anything you need to convince that luck lady/lad that you're a 5 star chef, and above all else very reasonably priced. Don't let the name throw you, it's not just Amish goods.

Jared Jones

The thing that is very disappointing here is that they have a wide selection of cheese but do not buy any! It always tastes terrible. No matter what kind you get they all have a same disgusting and distinct taste. Maybe the cheese sits out until it starts to go bad before they refrigerate it or it’s been frozen, thawed out then put on display under inadequate cooling. STAY AWAY FROM THEIR CHEESE. Otherwise Good selection of produce and ingredients for cooking, great buffet and deli. Everything is overpriced but it’s to be expected in the neighborhood.

r d

You can not wish for a better market in area. They have anything you crave from all over the world. Quality all the way. Love love love.

Fotographic Cinema

Good selection. Convenient location

Jake Krassner

Nice market with good quality produce and other food. Can be pricey on some items, just make sure to shop around

Miriam Mora

It's a nice neighbourhood store, though a bit expensive. They will, however, order goods if you ask, which is a wonderful service, and they have an astonishing amount of household goods hidden around the shop, you just have to ask. I needed a piping bag and tips on short notice and asked with little actual hope of finding one, and sure enough, they had them!

Kei Izawa

Food supermarket in Hells Kitchen. Packed with select items of natural and organic food. Great selection as the name implies.

Prachy Mohan

Just love this place! Try their fresh beet ginger juice, especially in the morning.

Hector Rosario

The food here is great and very healthy.

Arnaud Ruiz

Good quality products but when I see the price of the meat here I wanna become vegan

Kevin Wu

Some good sandwiches (Italian combo). Awesome soups - the New England clam chowder is thinner than you'd usually expect but actually a really tasty rejuvenating broth. Their soups tend to sell out by nighttime thus i suspect they r secretly awesome.

Laura B

This market was such a wonderful find when my daughter and I visited the city - the atmosphere is welcoming and the variety of food and the freshness of everything was great! I recommend this market 100%

hetfieldkfa

1 out of 20 items are actually 'Amish-ish'. Nice trap.

Toni Manevski

Very good and gifferent choice of food Healthy one

Matt Sabato

Ive been to Whole Foods and the Food Emporium. To compare, (size)- this place it a quarter of the size of both, but has everything you would need from the necessities to a bakery and a deli inside. Also has pre-made meals that are $10-$12- cannot go wrong there. Everything is clean and fresh and prices are reasonable for the location, different types of cheeses, meats and vegetables. This is my go to local market. Blows Food Emporium away as far as freshness and cleanliness, similar products to whole foods but a bit cheaper.

Martin Ashurov

Deli section is the best. They always cook fresh roasted beef. They don't use bad stuff on sandwiches. The manager is the best . Good place to eat. Plus they got perfect coffee and salad bar

Hulya Ozkartal

Best products imported from Turkey, good service and people who work there are very friendly.

Gytis Simaitis

A sweet spot with quality products at ok pricing given its location. Made me nostalgic for the branch in Hyde Park which l loved to frequent, though is long gone.

Rich Rome

Good selection of Meats and Cheeses. Hot and Cold buffet very good. The old man who is either the owner or Manager is a bit strange. He stares at you while you eat and puts time limits on people.

Jocelyn Roberts

Stroop waffles in Maple and Honey flavors... What more could you want?!

Jeremy Pool

Their deli is amazing. Roast beef sandwich meat was cut and piled high directly in front of me. The portions and pricing are amazing! A nice break from the do-it-all delis that focus on doing everything ok vs a place that does everything amazingly well. Above all of that the prices are amazing for the city!!

Shannon Cohen

This place is really great. They have a huge variety of foods, depending on what you're in the mood for. Their fresh pressed juices are decently priced. If you're not sure what you want to eat for lunch, Amish market has plenty of options to choose from. Their customer service is also excellent. I ordered a soup and juice. Their juicer was not working and they did not have the soup I ordered. They made sure to substitute the soup for something else that I wanted. They also used their blender to make me a smoothie with vegetables in it. Very nice and accommodating. Would recommend.

Jacob Rodvelt-Gamlieli

It's difficult to find a grocery store in New York City but this one does an adequate job of providing a wide selection in a tiny space.

Katherine Greco

Love this Market! Decent prices and great products. The Midtown east location is a great place for lunch.

Jeffrey Pernicka

Walked in looking for something to eat; figured on some fruit by the pound. Ifound fruit alright, an amazing selection at GREAT prices. Walked around a store where every product was understood. The fruit was ripe or just over ripe not under ripe or having to wait days to eat. Amazing cheese department, yes a whole cheese depatment. You MUST make a stop here if in the neighboorhood I just purchased 5 pieces of fruit, a small container of fresh store prepared seafood salad, and around 25 olives from their olive bar, for less than $10 on a god damn EBT card. I cannot however give the place 5

Harneet Singh

i have being going to Amish Market for over an year now. it's one of the best, clean place to buy food and other items. It might feel like you are paying a more compared to other store in neighborhood. but you need to compare the quality as well. Awesome food and awesome people. Thanks for making my NYC experience memorable.

Scott Penoyer

This place is huge!

William Wade

Nice local supermarket. Small, but quality and affordable.

Yolanda Shoshana

I have always loved the Amish Market. It is a store packed with gourmet goodies, which make it heaven for a foodie. It also made it on my best coffee list. I do not know what they do to it but their coffee is so good. Anytime I am in the hood, I stop in to grab a cup.

Soatiana Koloina Andraina

Good product and nice service. Found what I wanted most of the time

jaime santan

great super market

Luis NY

This is more than your traditional market! Plus all the goods they offer at the shelfs, they offer fresh rolled sushi, sandwiches, a great salad bar with hot dishes. Hidden on the rear they have a olive bar and a very extensive selection of cheeses. But the best of all, at ALL times they have all cashiers operating, so no lines and a quick checkout!

Robert Cesario

Nice, NYC kind of place!

Ildiko P

Nice selection of fresh produce, international food, fresh buffet style hot food. Great coffee and always friendly and helpful staff

Marco de Leeuw

Good quality but expensive ...nice products

Jasmin N

Bets super market ever ❤❤

Brooke Menschel

Amish Market is definitely my go-to grocery store, generally and in this area specifically. Produce here is much cheaper than Whole Foods (though pre-packaged products are pretty expensive), and their herbs are especially affordable. They …

Jesse Rollner

Anyone who enjoys this has lost their taste buds. The market is the only reason it gets 2 stars. The pre made food is dried out and disgusting. The deli counter didn't have any rolls for a sandwich, and after paying $8 for a chicken sandwich, I got home and the cutlet wad cold and the bacon was RAW. Seriously, RAW bacon? Who doesn't know how to cook bacon? Avoid the cooked food!

Jack Griffiths

Fresh produce. Very reasonable pricing. Good place to go if you want to pick something up for dinner.

chico11mbit

was there in october 14 and was surprised about there awesome excellent sandwiches. the no.17-pastrami sandwich is so delicious, that i ordered it almost every day. i love this place.

ari mayteles

Biggest example of cultural appropriation I've ever seen. NOT an AMISH MARKET. ANYTHING BUT. It's just a regular market in the city...

Hiba Fakhoury

Excellent international selection.

boyi LIM

Nice place. Very cozy design.

Allan Bangera

Love the place...just feel slightly expensive just coz it says organic

K. J.

Delicious healthy hot bar! Great selection of foods and friendly staff!

Bruce Reyes-Chow

On a recent visit to New York we stayed just around the block from Amish Market. We felt right at home as this place seems like a Whole Foods, only in concentrated form. Not huge numbers of choices for each product, but solid options for each. The produce was good as was the meat selection. We did not try the hot food, but it smelled good and looks like folks were enjoying it. There is a seating area where you can eat and/or chill and there is wi-fi which is always a plus in my book. The only negative would that that, being from San Francisco, WE were even a little surprised at the cost. We ended up going to some of the other local bodegas and shop for other items that need not be hipster or organic. That said, in the area, it was a welcomed site and made our stay all the more comfortable.

Alessandra Pinho

It's right by my place and it became our local market, I'm there almost everyday, either buying groceries, or getting something that's ready for dinner. Since it's more a market then a deli, service is not really an issue at this place, but everybody is always friendly when I needed them. I really recommend the sushis! We had it yesterday for dinner for the first time and even though I was skeptical at first, turned out it's pretty great! With two portions me and my husband had a lovely, quick and light dinner. Oh! And in the mornings you can get your bread toasted and buttered by the coffee counter.

Julie Andersen

Great fresh food and a small buffet bar.

Greg Kanczes

They're not Amish, but you get the feeling they are.

Gabriel De La Chevrotiere

Excellent grocery store. Wide variety of meats. Recommends A++

Lady Ace

I have been to other Amish Markets but this was my first time at this location. I decided to stop in before taking the train to pick up some produce and kitchen staples. The store was packed with stuff and the aisles were a bit narrow. The produce was very expensive $1 for a tangerine and I saw $17.99 a pound for green beans from Guatemala. The kitchen staples were no different, 2 single rolls of Bounty for $6. The drugstore is even cheaper than these prices. I also found that it was off putting that the freezer section was leaking and I assume the roof near the Olive Bar. I also don't understand why they leave big puddles in the middle of the store instead of having someone mop up the mess and fix the issue. On a side note, I also don't know why this is called the Amish market as there is no Amish element to this over priced store.

E Jeanne Harnois

This store has gone downhill. It used to be one of my favorite stops. Now they have incompetent people who leave items out of your bag (so they can reshelve them). When you call they hang up on you and refuse to address the problem. STAY AWAY!!!!

Bobby Meixner

Excellent health food selection. Easy to get in and out.

edwin rodriguez

it's a great place Very Fresh and has a great variety of cheeses and other Fresh Goods

Jonathan Gough

Wonderful local market. Quality deli, quality and healthy choices for dry and wet goods. Highly recommend the olive bar. Made to order sandwiches are the best deal around! They even have cakes and pies for desert. Not a one stop shopping place, but great for certain things.

Leon Magarian

Large variety of good products, but it's a littel bit pricey

Hanru Redelinghuys

Has what you need. Not too pricey. Purchased lamb chops before here and they were surprisingly really good

Alfredo Mendez

Very good selection of fresh fruit

Elle Girl

Always friendly and clean

Robert Fertig

Has almost everything you'd need at a massive grocery store, but with great variety across name brands and non-name brands alike. Mostly good prices, though some things are more expensive. Never as busy as Trader Joe's.

FRESHTRACKS Consulting

Turns out the owner is Turkish but this place is full of great food options. It’s rare to find so much verity in NEW YORK and I’m glad we loaded up here. I even liked how it has a tight New York feel to it with all the many aisles. Oh and you’re looking for a way to save a little definitely come here instead of eating out.

Brian AKA Geno Nettle

Good neighborhood shopping. Small but has organic options, an olive bar, fresh produce and many healthy options.

Heaven's Gate

Great soups and delicious hot foods, including entire rotisserie chickens with plenty of sides for spur of the moment guest or office gatherings. Food is made fresh daily.

Izzy D

This is my go to market. I used to shop at Food Emporium but switched to Amish because of selection, quality and the small business aspect. Love the Amish!!

Madeleine H'

Great food. Fresh buns. Sweet fruits. Yummy Candy Corns. There is also tasty, warm food to eat inside or take away. Highly recommend it!

miky791023

Very good in general

Haldun çetinkanat

Im looking for amish products but dont find it. Amish only blend...

Rémy Grignon

Lots of choice for a Midtown supermarket. Nice cashiers. Big caveats though is that the products are insanely overpriced.

Anne H

Great find!

Galina Kudryashova

Very friendly staff, good bread, bakery etc. Order and buy stuff there for years..
