This Fruit Store is classified in the category of Grocery store.
My daughter was going to a college interview downtown and I called and asked if they could deliver a basket of fresh fruit / cheese and crackers and a couple of cookies to her hotel room. I didn't realize the location I called was not in the area. The produce manager went above and beyond to make the basket perfect. My daughter said the fruit was delicious and fresh. I appreciate the manager going above and beyond and he made her day after a long trip to Minneapolis!
Their organics/"naturals" prices are higher than you would find at nearby co-ops like the Wedge. I feel like with their recent remodel they got rid of some of the 90s aesthetic, but they just replaced it with a faux fancy 2010s suburban vibe interior that looks just as generic and will age just as poorly. I guess I just like smaller modest feeling grocery stores, oh well.
Employees at Starbucks don't know how to prepare coffee, this is the 3rd time they prepared : a hot Latte coffee that doesn't taste coffee, too much milk and cold; a coffee americano that takes like water coffee, too much water, employees need training.
Friendly staffs!
This is my everyday, local market. They have excellent selection, great atmosphere, outstanding produce and meat, and a wonderful staff.
Awsome...
Beautiful store, great, but higher priced products.
Love how this market is situated
Great staff. Selection has not improved with recent remodeling, probably because of the unnecessary coffee shop they added. I've always been a huge fan of the deli here, but in the past year haven't been as impressed. Discovered that I could request sushi chef to make Unagi since I no longer could find out there (it was fantastic). Very expensive. For how ungodly expensive it is, you would expect there to be a bigger focus on quality ingredients and sustainable products-- there isn't and it's very disappointing.
Very nice clean store. Doesn't always have what you're looking for. A bit upscale and the prices reflect that. Excellent produce and meat.
Sharp looking..
The remodeled store is fabulous. Tons of deli items and great layout. The parking lot is much easier to navigate.
I love the food, hot bar and staff.
Super expensive, similar to whole foods except you can buy nonorganic brands of food in limited selection. Meaning, they have hamburger helper, but only one flavor. So they tried, but this ain't the place for you. I thought the meat department would have had a whole lot more, but it was lacking any sort of fish options. However, it was under renovations while I was there so that could be why. Nice staff, small parking lot, and had a beer and wine store within. Most likely not to be my regular grocery store due to cost, but it was a nice place.
Love this place. Staff are attentive, accommodating, and genuinely friendly. The displays looks inviting and the presentation of prepared food look delicious.
Pretty nice place, and they have a spirits and wine attached
A good quality, local grocery with delicious desserts and fresh to-go food. The produce is a little pricier but convenient in a pinch.
The Uptown Kowalski's: it's here for you. Good produce, good roasted chicken (usually out by 8p so plan accordingly), strong sushi. Open pretty late. Pricier than Aldi's and TJ's but totally reliable. Like clockwork. Very walkable, lots of bike racks. Good selection in the attached liquor store, too.
Little over priced on the deli stuff, but I guess labor is expensive. Great Quality.
So convenient, complete, attractive and competitive prices.
Can't say enough wonderful things about this place. They go way above and beyond to make sure you get what you want. High quality, great value, slightly higher prices however definitely worth it. I continue to make this my go to place for anytime I'm entertaining.
I love this stores!
Great to go section and their wine and beer shop has a great local selsction
Just mediocre donuts..Not worth the money.
Love this store! I drive out of my neighborhood to shop here.
Personable. Somewhat spendy
Spendy for everyday for most but great specialties
They carry Meyer lemons! Definitely need to up the game on buttermilk varieties and goat milk. Wish the fish counter were open later, too. Also has a nice seating area that could work as a plan b coworking spot in a pinch.
A bit spendy but good quality
Great selection of food and very fast check out.
they have the oxygen enhanced waters here and the so good selection
Reliability overpriced food.
The new expansion really helped increase the selection. Always find what I need
Very nice grocery store. Wonderful cheese selections with helpful and friendly staff. A bit expensive, but high quality goods. Samples on weekends!
Great and fresh selections!
I enjoyed shopping in this beautiful market place.
I loooove Kowalski's! Staff is always helpful and accommodating. I'm a return customer for excellent customer service.
The new Kowalski's after they expanded is wonderful. It's great to shop at. The staff enjoy helping. The selection is wonderful.
Love going to Kowalski's! A great variety of fresh quality foods and the staff are very helpful and pleasant.
This place is super spacious after the remodel. Yeah it’s pricier than other stores, but a nice place to stop if you want some pre-made items (the take and bake stuffed mushrooms are awesome and when for cooking for others nobody has to know you didn’t prep them yourself!). The front lanes always move incredibly fast and service there is friendly, as in the liquor section. One area that needs work is the butcher counter, an amazing selection but it can be so hard to flag down somebody to help you. I’ve sat and waited forever, but I did so because they have a seafood selection you can’t find anywhere else in the uptown area.
Love all the Kowalski's stores. Have shopped there for years. Have had very positive shopping experiences. Employees are always eager to help out. Even had a Deli Manager deliver an item to home that was forgotten in my order. I was impressed. I really wish they would build near the Champlain-Maple Grove area. Thanks Meryl B'Park
Good Food
Great service ! Really liked that it was open on the 4th of july
Very good place for lunch, great selection of deli foods, pasta bar, salad bar, burrito bowl bar and more.
I was asked to show my receipt when leaving they thought I stole something so I brought what I bought back in and returned it.I won't go back here ever again.Awful experience I will be shopping somewhere else for now on.
Free samples on weekends
This Kowalski’s consistently has the freshest, best avocados in MSP. Almost always some immediately ready to eat. This is a specific way to evaluate grocery stores, but it sucks going to Cub or Target or even TJ’s/co-ops and getting super un-ripe (or way over-ripe) avocados. Kowalski’s are almost always ready to eat. That’s why even tho their stuff is unreasonably pricey, they get 4 stars. It’s a Hennepin Ave store so I guess the prices are probably typical for the location. Will continue to shop here.
I will never go back to this Kowalski's. On May 5 I bought some hot Italian sausages to make a big batch of pasta. Well after I finished making the huge pot AND ate some, I noticed the sell by date for the sausage was April 28. So now I have a lot of ruined food and on top of that, when I called Kowalski's to let them know they might want to check their sausage, all the guy said was oh... thank you, have a good night. No apology. I mean yeah, I'll have a good night probably getting sick thanks to your sausage.
Pricey, but the deli is good
Favorite grocery store in the area. Great quality food and a pleasant place to shop. Samples are often available and are delicious. The meat can get pricey but it's reasonable for the quality. Most other things are quite affordable, if marginally more expensive than at places like Cub or Rainbow.
Typical grocery store with a few more frills. The deli section is really good and the prepared food there is also quite tasty.
Prices are higher, but good variety, high quality bakery and deli, all of the produce looks very fresh. A nice, new, clean grocery.
Love kowalski's! The best grocery store in town.
Great selection of produce and other ingredients you can't find at other grocery stores !
Kowalski's is my favorite place for grab and go food. Their soups and salads are the best. The service is also great. The only downside is the prices are a bit high. I am ok with the prices because of the convenience and quality of their food!
Broad selection and great quality.
Great selection of high quality food. Overall pleasant shopping experience.
A little over priced but otherwise great quality! I love going grocery shopping and picking up a little sweet treat from their bakery. They also have a box at the exit where if you contribute your receipt, Kowalski’s will donate money to a charity that you choose!
Grossly overpriced and cloyingly upscale and precious.
Hipster friendly. Great market. Good atmosphere. Open always. And while not very attentive staff they are very helpful upon request. Little bit more expensive than say cub/rainbow but cheaper than gas stations near by.
Always quality ingredients and friendly, helpful people. Best higher end grocery store in the area. They now have a build your own pasta bar (closes at 8:30) which is excellent! The New space is incredible.
They used to be open after work (i work late nights) and it was a tremendous late night resource for years- especially since I prefer quality food. Now they close at midnight and are essentially USELESS. I found out the hard way tonight after driving out of my way to get there, after a long shift. Oh well. During the day, there are many better places nearby for grocery such as The Wedge and Whole Foods, etc. I sadly have no need for this place.
Gorgeous remodel. Has a juice bar, cafe seating, a Starbucks, liquor store... You name it.
Their Baguette bread is amazing.
My Favorite
I could spend a fortune on all the floods here I want to eat. It all looks so delicious.
Always high quality produce
Always a wonderful experience, esp if a person is from the North Fork of L.I.where the nearest high end supermarket is 25 miles west.
Meats are good to buy otherwise it's to high price for me
Love shopping here!
Used to be cool when they were open 24/7. Now they have remodeled and are no longer 24/7
Friendly staff, extraordinary customer service, impressive selection given its tiny size and SUPER expensive. For example, milk is a dollar more than it is at Cub. However, their sales can be worth the trip. I bought candied ginger recently that cost only 25% of the lowest price I've seen anywhere.
gets. Expensive
Samples out most weekends, great atmosphere, little more expensive than cub or target but they have a great selection.
I’m never disappointed with the deli here. They always have an amazing variety of choices and it’s super tasty. A little on the pricey side but hey you get what you pay for.
Greatest grocery store of all time. Open 24/7 SAY WHAAAT??!! People are super nice. Can't say they have the cheapest prices in the world but the store is stocked with everything I have ever needed, and it's got that Starbucks in there! TRICKY TRICKY!!! Clean, never crowded, two thumbs up!
I started out by coming here for lunch and grabbing a quick sandwich, or even a whole plate of hot food. Kowalski's slowly became my default grocery store. It has a wonderful bakery with breads and deserts and it even has great premade food for dinner. In the grocery section, there is a wide variety of brands. You can find trendy, local options alongside your favorite brands. I still can't give up my Kraft Mac and cheese! It's a little pricier than some stores, but the quality selection and friendly staff make up for it.
Good selection, everything is 25% more expensive than cub or target. I go here because of convenience with it being only a block from home
Best place to get a gooey Kougin Amann. Yum.
Great selection of products, awesome lunch options from the deli to the sushi bar, and great staff!
Hands down the best grocery store in the Twin Cites. Absolutely no contest between Kowalski's and Lund's.
A lot better than last year, Lund's watch out.
Very friendly worker's and cheap for fresh local food
Well they have a very wide selection of unique, local, and organic foods, the prices are some of the highest for a grocery store in the Twin Cities.
pretty and fun expensive supermarket shopping
it's close to my apartment, open late (actually back to 24hr i believe finally [actually not back to 24 hour, only til 1 am] ), plus they have good prepared food options for dinner. only slight downside is can be a little pricey but overall I wouldn't complain.
Great pre-made food at the deli. The pasta salads is phenomenal, although the price is a bit steep. A good place to go as long as you are willing to pay for quality.
Always something good in the produce section. Large selection of hot soups, deli olive bar, salad bar, and the wine and beer selection next door is robust!
Way over priced! Took a bad turn when Walgreens moved! Visited once in six months? Used to go there a few times a week. Lund's is much better...
Extremely high quality produce, groceries, and deli food.
Fresh organic produce ! Walking distance for me; not so great parking for others during the winter season. Plowed snow mounds taking up parking space.
Somehow this place got worse after the remodel. Still egregiously over-priced, but now a trimmer grocery selection makes way for tons of space dedicated to high-margin non-food items and some of the blandest "hot food options" in town. I've never seen anyone at the juice bar (with prices that rival small mortgages), and the Starbucks is notably quiet at all hours (why? maybe because there is another one 1.5 blocks away, and 5 more coffee options nearby). They created a ton of space for produce, but mostly just for bagged items (tiny wet wall often doesn't even have bulk spinach most days). I live a block away, and have begun trekking up to Cub and Target to do groceries now. I just can't come up with any good reason to pay 50-100% more for groceries at Kowalskis. Maybe for a good cheese, if I were a good cheese person. Staff is friendly and checkout is usually a breeze. Staff is their best offering.
A little pricey but the quality is there. Great choices for my kiddo that is allergic to everything!
The patio area is amazing!
More expensive than Whole Foods ??? But better location than Whole Foods lmao
I was introduced to Kowalski by my late father[PBH] and ever since, I have been coming back for the fresh produce.
Absolute great it's 1 stop shopping I will be back ☀️
An upscale grocery store with a huge variety of each product
Beautiful store! Friendly staff! Best selections! Great Value with top notch quality.!
Pretty good selections and I love the fresh food also the jot bars!
Lovely selection of products, some people may consider this grocer as highend, but the products are wonderful. Rushhour foot traffic also tends to have longer lines at the counter. But nice place overall.
Prices are crazy high! They have a good selection of GF stuff at bakery. Lots of variety of foods and gift stuff.
Beautiful store with lovely goods. Smaller selection available. Friendly and approachable staff.
So incredibly friendly and helpful! They even sell half loaves of bread.
Since the renovations they added a juice bar, a Starbucks, expanded the produce area, and added a little cafe area for people to sit down and eat (the cafe is sort of a waste of real estate space but to each their own). I shop here all the time, they have some really excellent products that I can’t find anywhere else, for instance like their generic Kowalskis brand tarte cherries, they are delicious! But beware this place is on the much, much pricier side of groceries. So unless you’re there for something specific to Kowalskis, I wouldn’t buy your regular groceries here unless you live in the area and are feeling lazy and want to pay extra for convenience!
Friendly, helpful staff. Reaching out to customers that appear to need assistance.
You can basically get anything you want to eat here. If you're willing to pay more for it.
The quality cant be beat. Love the selection of unique items. Top notch grocery shop.
Great digs, awesome food, but the pricing is definitely not for the feint of heart...similar to a sit down restaurant
A wonderful grocery store, very high end!
Got selection, nice deli and prepared food areas. A little pricey.
Genuinely the most beautiful grocery I have ever been in. The shelves are completely stocked and there are multiple options of everything
Staff is very nice but prices are higher than other gricery stores.
A smaller Kowalski's, but soon to expand into old Walgreens space? I am excited to see what happens there. Kowalski's has great curated produce Meats and other Fine Foods. A lot of their brand name products are great. Good hot prepared food and salad bar to go.
Always a great selection if you want to just roam with your ear buds in. Plus, there is a Starbucks (my fave). The only tip I have for fellow shoppers is skip the "marshmallow crispies" at the bakery. If your like me, you always find rice crispies at the bakery of every grocery store. Just make your own because they charge $6 and there was hardly ANY marshmallows used. Very dry and drab. Didn't know you could ruin rice crispies but they did!
Always a pleasant shopping experience. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Great selection of produce and food items. Service and layout are excellent. My main complaint is that their toiletries and kitchen accessories tend towards being luxury purchases over general, practical items.
It's nice and there's parking!!!
Prices of some items can be off-putting but the selection is second to few. Parking can be a chore on occasion, but usually there's a space available.
Uptown Kowalski’s is where it’s at! Love this location
Convenient location, newly renovated and expanded building. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Premium high end grocery store. Great deli food.
A little overpriced for the quality of produce and just product in general. Price of Whole Foods with the quality of Cub.
Kowalski’s is for those that have extra money. It is an expensive grocery store. They remodeled and expanded their space. It is clean and inviting and the bakery is exemplary. I can’t afford to do all of my shopping there but it is fun to look and the baked bread is unique and reasonably priced. Though their quiche is delicious, I cannot afford to buy it when I could make it for a third of the price at home. But for those financially blessed, it is great!
They have chocolate flavored hummus. A food bar and a make your own burrito. Plus a liquor store. People watching potential 6:10
Perfect service
Best. Uptown. Bakery. Seriously! You can also get a variety of hot food to go, including meals. They have a pasta bar, too. Lots of toys of pasta and sauces.
Very beautiful store, recently remodeled and have a nice variety of food, & unique gifts.
I enjoy the larger store and more selection. My beef was the limited selection in cold-cut beef. The staff is very helpful and much appreciated.
Great service. I know not to expect people to always go out of their way, or even be able to open departments that are closed, but very happy when they can, and do. Thank you again for making my Valentine's dinner a success!
Great store, employees are always quite helpful and friendly.
Great food great customer service very clean store.
SO CLEAN AND BEAUTIFUL!!! What a lovely place to shop, helpful staff and clearly organized. Thank you for updating!
Probably the worst customer service one of the cashiers didn’t even acknowledge me
Always pleasant staff and great bakery/deli!
Favorite Kowalski's ever!
Amazing produce and great cheese selection.
Kowalski's is priced high, but always a good shopping experience. I REALLY enjoy their hot-pasta station where they make a fresh hot pasta dish of your choice. They also recently added a wing bar with different types of chicken wings and flavors. These can dry out over the shift, but there's always something else to grab. Everyone is also very kind. Cam sometimes be a bit of a wait at the meat counter. Great store, wish I had one in my home neighborhood. :)
Clean, well-lit, good variety of foods and brands. The pricing is a bit high but there overall quality is better.
This is one of my 2 favorite grocery stores. Has the specialty health foods I need as well as mainstream brands. Store size is just right, not daunting for quick trips. Not a cheap store so for big trips I go elsewhere. When I have a less healthy craving, they have the best rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes and buffalo wings! I've tried the rotisserie at almost all the local groceries and this one is the winner. Note: The Uptown Kowalskis does not bread their buffalo wings so works for my gluten free diet. Although they don't claim gluten free I see no gluten ingredients. The Lyndale store unfortunately started breading their wings.
Great for a quick stop. Like any Kowalski's, things are pretty overpriced. This one is recently rennovated and has a super fun deli/hotfood section!
Beautiful store, but way too expensive for me.
Great prpared food, produce, etc...Love this market
Great local chain. They're expanding this location, so there's construction going on, but it's still easy to find what you're looking for.
Kowalski's has some of the best dessert options!
I love this place!! I come for the fabulous local live music...stay for the yummy food and always go shopping.
Great place for produce and bakery items. Wish the hot foods areas had more vegetarian friendly options. The hibachi doesn't have tofu which seems like such a weird miss, etc etc
I really liked the friendliness of the atmosphere and this place is a great place to shop and find some good bargains and fun things at good prices the people there are als9 very helpful an fun too!!
Love the store
Great interior design. Fantastic guys. Wider selection. Affordable prices!
I love Kowalski's, i love the set up, i love their products, i love the atmosphere and the friendly people. My favorite thing here is the salad bar. Amazing and always so fresh. They also have other hot food items and pasta they cook up right in front of you! In the front right corner are also some cool gagets and gifts I've never thought of definitely worth checking out and the rest of the grocery store is full of all kinds of good food. They also have a coffee shop in the center
Amazing products and overall atmosphere, delicious food, a little pricey but that's because of the high quality.
Great local craft beer selection.
I have said it before and I’ll say it again: I LOVE THIS KOWALSKI’S. I am absolutely glad to pay a little more for this grocery store, as their customer service always leaves me wanting to write a five star review. 1) they have so many employees that have been with the company for so long! This speaks volumes. Unhappy employees do not stick around. Happy employees are an absolute joy to talk to. 2) their aisles are brightly lit and easy to navigate. The remodel (one + year ago) only helped that fact. 3) you can’t beat their customer interactions at checkout. Their people know how to start a conversation and keep it light and interesting OR to suggest something you might like (a few years back I tried egg nog for the first time ever and as I was checking out the cashier recommended a different brand and even fetched it for me. It was delicious). 4) efficiency. There is hardly ever a wait at this location (even at peak grocery times) the employees know when to hop on register to help out and do so with a smile. Props to management for proper scheduling and training too. I just moved back to Minneapolis after living in Bozeman, Montana, and I couldn’t be more thrilled about returning to my Kowalski’s. You guys are the best keep it up!!
The redesigned store has a more open format and welcome additional space, though the traffic flow through the store feels a bit odd. Sadly missed are the days when the store was open 24 hours, and the inflated prices of a more upscale shopping experience may suffer even more now that Hy-Vee is moving into this region. Best selection of take and bake breads and broad choice of teas for a supermarket.
The store was undergoing some renovations at the time. It honestly looks amazing with the wide open area and nice lighting. I'm not a huge fan of the prices though. Overpriced in almost every category. Definitely not for the budget conscious student.
Such a fantastic store. They have a great selection of food. Lines tend to get big but the cashiers are always fast! Recommended!
If you love pasta you've gotta check out this place. On top of being one of the greatest grocery stores in the city they have the most wonderful made to order pasta bar at the deli.I'm telling you for 10 bucks you can go in and have them whip you up some amazing pasta with tons of choices of veggies noodles and sauces. Everybody is so wonderful and so great and so nice I absolutely love the place I'm there almost every day...
