REVIEWS OF Bow Street Market IN Maine

Eric Winter

Super friendly staff, phenomenal sandwiches at very reasonable prices. We'll definitely be back.

S. Emery

Great little market. Fabulous butcher department - local sausages, ground beef, pork … Wonderful deli and cheese selections. Friendly and helpful employees!

Michael Cuskelly

Great selection of wines.

Francisco Companioni

looks nice, well stocked but staff could've been a little friendlier when asking for help.

Dan Soley

This is a review of their platters -- which I spent over $300 on two days ago for an event. Bow St employees were kind and on time for a 2pm pickup, but that's the only reason I'm not giving 1-star here. Other than that, quality was severely lacking: Fruit bowl included many cuts with the rind, many grapes were soft and brown (throughout other platters too), and the whole thing seemed to have settled like it had been done the day before. Vegetable platter included cheap dip like from WalMart, veggies seemed old and uninspiring. Shrimp platter was small for the large price, again surrounded a cheap Walmart type dip in the middle. Cheese platter was your typical cheap cheeses with nothing unique or interesting, thick cuts all stuck together. Antipasto was definitely VERY FAR from that - I would call it a deli meat sampler with some cheap canned olives thrown on the side. Very unhappy overall. Quantities were NOT 20+ person as advertised. Quality and inspiration lacking. There are lot of better places out there. I grew up in Freeport and Bow St Market used to be a nice local place. They've outgrown that and you can now expect that same corporate quality you get out of Subway now :(

Katherine Avery

I no longer go to the big box stores. Bow Street always has what I need. They have the best employees around. Kind..helpful ..and as a bonus FRIENDLY!!

Tim McClure

Incredible butcher shop. The place to get steaks. Their house made sausages are great too.

Linda M

Very small store but they carry a little of everything

Allan Wirkala

I was visiting family in Yarmouth and they took me to your market. It was a very nice market with a large product line that covered about everything. I bought 4 sausages, 2 regular and 2 with peppers and onions. I am amazed that you can sell them to people for a second time. I would never buy them again as the casing needs a sharp steak knife to get through. They also had no flavor, someone forgot to put the spices in them. On top of this I think I paid $14 and change for no flavor tough sausage.

eric gregg

Pricey but convenient.

Harrison Kilpatrick

Delicious food right in the heart of Freeport. On the expensive side but they have some quality items. If you are looking for organic and fresh products this is the place to go. They have a great selection of fresh brewed coffee and beans !

Michelle Parson

The gentleman who helped us had a good knowledge of wine.

John Turnmire

Huge selection of name brand goods as well as exquisite local Maine offerings across nearly every category. Deli, butcher, and bakery are all eye popping, and the beer selection is phenomenal. Friendly staff and smiling faces round out a pleasant experience and my new go-to when I'm in town.

There are few places on the planet like Bow Street Market! Delighted that it's near me. The food choices are fantastic, fresh and of high quality. The people who work/run the market are friendly and accommodating. Clean space. Offers healthy, gluten free, etc options. Their flour less chocolate torte is to die for!

Jeff Phelps

Fantastic market. Excellent butcher counter. Has local meat from pineland farm and Wolfe's neck farm. Deli case features boars heads meat. Deli case also has a good selection of salads. Recommend the broccoli salad, tabouli, and a couscous salad. Nice selection of cheeses, both local and imported. Recommend the hunters cheese combo off blue and cheddar. In the morning they have a hot bar for breakfast sandwiches and hash browns. Wide selection of brewed coffees: wicked Joe, green mountain. Pastries and donuts available in the morning. Donuts from frosty s. Large wine selection, not a wine guy but it looks good to me. Wide selection of spirits including local distilleries. Nice beer selection.

R Ricker

Great store, fun place to shop. Has a wonderful selection of goods.

Hollie Kunesh, LMT

Great selection of Pineland Farm sausages as well as a large assortment of local produce.

Bow Street Market is an amazing place to visit. A local independent grocery store that strives to have as many local products as possible. The meat case is huge and full of choices and the produce has always been the freshest I've had. There is always an employee available to help you decide or find any beer/wine/liquor that you'd like. Plus the fresh made sandwiches and burgers are delicious! Bow Street Market helps out customers with special orders, including ordering any keg that is available to them. This is a must for locals and tourists alike.

Eugene Dietrich

This is a great local market with friendly staff, butcher shop and bakery. It's small but our choice over the large stores for most things. When we went there on a Sunday in December they had a local quartet playing holiday music. It was a treat.

Kallie Kirchberg

Great place. Just a little pricey.

BB BB

Great grocery store! No need to go to huge Shaws or Hannaford when Bow Street has everything you need, and it's not a vast place that takes forever to walk through. They just don't have massive quantities of everything in the aisles like the big stores. Good meat department, too.

Gail Wall

Went to buy fresh mussels and they were $1.99 a lb.! Such a great price and they were delicious! Always good customer service.

Mary Rodimon

I love this Market! I remember when it was on the wayside of Bow Street, a much smaller scale market, now gone gourmet. I also love the fact that the market is open so early in the morning. It helps with my busy schedule. Thank you Bow Street!

Amy Brown

We were camping and needed a few things the campground staff recommended this store. It was so fun! It was a small market but felt amazing. It had variety, fresh fish, fresh pizza, fresh salads and more. There was a large liquor selection as well with a woman roaming around offering to help when needed. On our way out a pizza had just come out of the oven, it looked so good we bought it. It was amazing. This is a great market. Enjoy!

Frederick Evans

I normally don't leave worded reviews, but this place 100% deserved it! With me being from the good State of Texas and the variety of liquors I've come across there, I'd have to say that Bow St has surprised me in many ways. Even with the State of Maine being a controlled environment, they stock liquors not I could not find anywhere else in the state. I leave you with this, if you can't find your particular brand or preference anywhere, try Bow St in Portland ME!

Agnes Hertzog

Emily Blachly

Local favorite. I am a vegetarian, they have a great selection of fresh veggies and fruits. Also I love their local goods like coffee and sauces. My partner is a carnivore, their butcher shop is one of the best in Maine. Their wine and beer cellar is amazing, they choose their collections carefully. So everything is so good. We always take a detour to shop there, totally worth the trip.

Mango Madness

This is a great market with quality meats and huge wine selection. We recently discovered their pizza. It's delicious and would highly recommend. The only frustration is not their fault, but every time we go, customers can't seem to navigate the parking lot. Maybe it could have been designed a little better, but if you know how to drive and park, and have common courtesy, it shouldn't be an issue.

Bill Taylor

Nice little market by with just about everything.

Eric Pettengill

Great place to find Gluten free goods. Very friendly staff, and nice small atmosphere.

Kate Savidge

Bow Street Market has sure changed a lot from when I lived in Freeport and it was that teeny little shop just up the road from where it is now. Wow, what a difference! So bright and cheerful, it's one of those shops I wish I had where I live.

Charlie Emmons

Excellent meat quality. $$$$

Joe Friant

Bow Street Market is an amazing little grocery store! They carry a lot of locally made products right next to things you would find at a major grocery chain store. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The deli makes dozens of fresh salads and sandwiches in store and before your eyes. They have a custom butcher shop where the butchers cut your meat exactly as you ask. Produce is fresh and appealing. The wine and liquor area is the largest I have seen in the state! So many choices! I am only ever going to shop here from now on!

Tim M

The way markets should be

Jacob Wolkens

This is an absolute hidden gem! It’s tucked nicely behind all the usual craziness of Freeport, close enough to be within a quick drive or walk but far enough away that it’s quiet and a bit secluded. The selection is fantastic, with a great mix of national and local brands for nearly every category, and the butcher counter/deli is where those local brands can really shine. The whole case looks worthy of taking home! The feel of the store is like a small town general store or market, but the quality and selection is reminiscent of a modern megamart. I live about 45 minutes away but plan on frequent visits as this place simply can’t be rivaled by anything nearby. Make sure to check it out!

Alexander Waters

Try the sausages! They're delicious and made in house.

Patrick Loring

Best meat in town!

Sheila Wood

Great!

Patricia Wester

Bow St Market has always been a favorite of ours in the many years we have vacationed in Freeport, Maine. From morning coffee and sweets, to hot or cold lunch selections, to delicious meats, fish and vegetables for dinner, everything is perfectly displayed and easy to locate in the intimate and friendly store. Aside from the yummy selections, their wine and liquor section holds some of the finest and tastiest liquors. A great choice of Maine brewed and distilled beverages. Bow St is a gem that everyone wishes they had in their town. Love it!!!
