This Fruit Store is included in the category of Grocery store.
I stop frequently at the cafe for healthy dining-in and to-go options with their buffet and made to order menu. Fresh smoothie and juice bar. Delicious bakery items. Free Wi-fi. The grocery is locally owned and focuses on organic, local, sustainable, natural food and products. They carry a selection of craft beer as well.
This is a small co-OP business. It has a good selection as a small business. Their restaurant has a varied selection of items which changes and has creative items.
Love it..organic..healthy..everything I need in one place!
Great chicken salad.
Absolutely love this place. Have not been here is over 10 years and my has it changed. From selection, to ease of shopping, and so much more it is just a great healthy alternative to anything else around.
The Co-op is a great place to find unique and everyday items that are as locally sourced as possible. The produce section is full of beautiful and delicious fruits and vegetables. I am super picky about my produce and I admire the lay out and selection. You will not be disappointed! I love the selection of fresh sushi and pizzas as well as the incredible food bar attached to the market. There are so many delicious choices, if you go for lunch you will want to take something home for dinner, I promise! The best part is that they use locally sourced produce and products whenever possible, so everyone wins. Consider becoming an owner, too. The payment plan is super flexible. There are great sales and discounts for owners that will easily even out the initial cost. Plus everyone is so friendly, you will want to shop there often!
This is one of my favorite places to go for lunch. A healthy salad and hot food bar. Great soups. Fruit. Interesting cold salads I wouldn't make at home but taste great. You weigh the food and pay by the pound. I have had a good, healthy meal for $5 a few times.
Great products, but shop carefully! If its something you can buy elsewhere it is probably cheaper elsewhere. I go here for some hard to find spices and that is about it. Very expensive.
A fun friendly environment that promotes a healthy and ethical lifestyle. You’ll be sure to find some hearty food here as well as a large array of natural wellness products!
When we started the co-op in a church in 1972 — and I was a minor player in that — the idea was for people to have access to healthy foods at low prices and everyone would contribute labor. Gradually, perhaps for survival, it became an echo of Whole Foods, with comparable prices and lots of junk foods. The price of coffee in the cafe is almost double some other for-profit local cafes. Costco blows the co-op away on same item prices.
Extremely good meats they have some unique stuff you can't find anywhere else. The only thing I don't like about it I feel like if you don't look like everyone else in that store or think like them they're very pretentious they think they're better than everybody but the products are spot-on
Love the local vegan options! We are owners and love this store!
Great options and good food
Love Good Foods. Always a great hot and cold buffet.
Food was good fresh and locally grown
Source for local and organic products of all kinds. Good coffee bar. I like the hot and salad buffets sold by weight. The sauteed kale and onions is amazing.
Solid produce selection, lots of local options. Fantastic bulk, spice, and ethnic/niche ingredient selection.
Nice selection locally grown onions
The produce is always a great quality and I really enjoy the hot bar options because they are always fresh, fragrant, and delicious! In my experience, the price and quality you will find at Whole Foods are similar, but I prefer to support local businesses. Sometimes the prices are significantly cheaper than whole foods (grass-fed ribeye steaks, for example) and sometimes the prices seem quite a bit higher (boxed crackers, for example). I love that they offer Apple Pay.
Want to experience how good healthy food can be? Come here and try from an extensive buffet: hot, cold and salad. Reasonably pay by the pound, eat in or take out. Always fresh, healthy and tasty. Never has disappointed.
Whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner, the quality of the food on the hot bar here is outstanding! I appreciate the ingredient labels on all the items. Also, great coffee. My only constructive criticism is that several of the cashiers need to be trained in basic people skills, i.e. how to smile and make small-talk to make customers feel welcomed and appreciated. Outside of that, it is definitely my go-to for Good Food!
Clean, helpful employees, cooked kale on the buffet is a must try, and the new house plant & decor section is beautiful & priced pocket-friendly.
Nutritional supplements, pawpaw, and healthy food options
Favorite place to buy snacks, treats, and beverages. They always have the best local healthy options available. Check out their hot meals as well, great spot for a nice lunch.
So excited i got brave enough to go to the big city for goat butter and organic vegetables. When i was a little kid we volunteered hours at the co op when it was first opened in a small space. 42 years ago maybe? Thank you for exceptional products a gluten intolerant person truly needs. My gluten free shampoo too!!!! So grateful to all your kind staff.kat
Love this place. One of my favorite places to eat
Great healthy snacks for kids
Casual atmosphere, healthy salad and hot food bar! I love shopping in their grocery and produce, because their is ample local and organic food!
Got the odd things an odd person is looking for! Good people and great customer service.
This place has amazing bulk options and is completely accommodating to people who bring their own containers. I love it
They have unique beer options, delicious hot bar foods, many organic and bulk item selections, and friendly staff!
We really loved the hot food bar choices. We had kale, other veggies, fish and potatoes. Very clean and the staff were great
Walked though for the first time in a very long time. I'm not in this area very often. I forgot how amazing this place is. The restaurant area is crazy. They have so many delicious looking foods. Everything is charged by weight. The rest of the store had a great selection of healthy foods both fresh and boxed/canned. We ended up getting some yummy treats and a coffee. If I lived closer I would probably be here a lot.
Great place! Many organic and delicious products! Also, you can finally buy your stuff in bulk and reduce all the unnecessary plastic packaging! The food is also great!
Where the checkers know your name!!
I love it.
Co-op grocery store featuring local produce and meat. Also has a café and bakery, and caters to various dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, & gluten free.
LOVE shopping here for the things you are unable to locate in the normal grocery stores. A friend out of state recommended chocolate coconut water and unfortunately, they were unable to order the FOUR different types so I had to purchase them myself. I left one of each for them to try. I like the fact they are open to add more kinds of different to all their fresh veggies and herbal remedies. However, if you are looking for medicinal grade oils this is not the place to come. Find on-line a supplier which is FDA approved.
I payed the same amount for a blt sandwich as my good friend, and my sandwich was 1/2 the size of his. That’s ridiculous!
Nice place to get stuff done, hangout or just eat!
The food was different. A lot of it I wouldn't eat. Over all, if you like that food. It is a great place to dine and visit.
Knowledgeable staff. Willing to special order for me. Great bulk foods section.
Great and unique beer selection. Highly repetitive hot/cold bar feels like Groundhog Day. Lots of vegan options on the shelves and the hot bar. Kudos on the Just Egg, only retailer in Lexington that reliably stocks it. Produce prices can be a bit shocking and make Whole Foods prices feel like Aldi. Just being honest, not trying to nitpick. Nice overall vibe and love the convenience.
So many wonderful vegan and vegetarian/omnivorous foods. One can definitely gain weight , I am just loving it! They have a buffet-style help yourself pay by the pound plus a really awesome grocery store. Umpteen places to sit and learn something new and study Just come for the experience spread out relax, enjoy ;-D
Not a great first experience but they took time to resolve concerns.
They do have some good food. Very over priced. Hot bar is okay. By the time you pay for it and get a seat, then your food is cold. Got a latte recently and it was lukewarm and way too sweet. Im very upset they got rid of their bulk herb section. Now there's no place in Lexington to buy bulk herbs. Another thing: they allow adults to let their kids run ramped through the whole store. This says more about the entitled clientele the co-op brings in but management needs to make sure people behave so others can enjoy the establishment. Obnoxious kids are the almost the few times I've been there. Honestly, you can get better quality organic food at some kroger's. I do like how they incorporate local farmers' produce and dairy. We need places like this that support local farmers. Last thing: i know a few people who've worked here and i know they treat their employees very wrong. Minimum or close to minimum wage with no benefits. Employees are super nice and i can see them working hard. If the prices are so high then they need to pay their employees better.
Wow I love their offerings! The hot bar includes some of the best tasting food I've ever found. Love the very personalized feel of the shopping experience too!
I remember the day of the food co-op. Many are gone now, but this one still thrives. There's sort of a sense of camaraderie among us, the owner/shoppers, as we travel the aisles filled with quality stuff. From fresh, locally sourced produce to great beer and coffee, we usually find what we seek.
I went there by recommendation. I was surprised how bad the customer service was. I watched a worker say to a little elderly woman that she would just have to pick through the soup in the cafe to get the potatoes. He actually said " that's what everyone else does." I let it go at first, then I noticed that workers were just standing in the aisles and people were trying to get through and the wrokers were not doing anything to either help or get out of the way. I probably won't be back.
Great hot bar
I always appreciate going here for the food and things that I cant get anywhere else, great staff!
Good Foods is a little out of the way for me, but I still shop there every week or two. I'm a vegetarian and they have a good inventory of high quality vegan and vegetarian foods. The Co-OP might seem a bit pricey compared to supermarkets, but when the quality is considered, there's little difference.
I love this place! This store is my #1stop for natural foods & supplements.
today May19th, i went to this place with my kid and she was pulling me from behind and didn't know that my linen short was worn out from behind. Instead of telling me that my short is worn from behind the grocery store stuff were followed me one by one. Do not percieve people as who u r.
Great little coffee shop inside
Good Foods is a great place to shop! So many of the products are local and the staff is always willing to help. I especially like their assortment of herbs, fresh produce, and yummy baked goods.
Has a great hot bar and a great salad bar so much per pound
My first time there. Fantastic!!! I was very surprised and impressed.
They have really good premade hot food. Pick what you want, and they charge by the pound.
It's ok plead the 5th
Very very nice! Coffee was delicious but not hot enough. I had the honey latte. It could have a little more honey to make it better.
Every human working there is chipper and helpful. The bulk aisle and bulk soap is awesome. The atmosphere is relaxing and I feel healthier just being in there. I love that I can put my food scraps with the Good Foods cafe's for a chicken-keeper to collect. Every time I walk out, I feel good about myself - this place is aptly named ♡ Rock on - who wouldn't want to work here?
Fresh, locally sourced coffee. Can't get much better than that!
Friendly place and well organized.
Wonderful selection of foods but a little pricey.
This is my go to place for organic, healthy food-especially bulk items. Love the cafe' which has the very best salad bar in town. It's small enough that you can get to know the regulars and the staff- very friendly, cool atmosphere.
A real Co-op, but non members benefit as well. They've expanded beyond fresh food to vitamins, organic local meats, a vegan friendly cafe, and other goodies.
Good healthy selection of food.and drinks
I always enjoy going into the Co-OP. They have groceries you can't find anywhere else. With Kroger leaving the bulk food market. It's one of the few grocery stores you can get what you want. Their spices are fresh,in bulk. Hard to find spices. It's a great place for special diets also .
Fantastic selection to impress all your hipster friends. Have great deals on random things you didn't know you needed. You as a casual shopper have access to most deals. You don't need to be a member to shop or get most deals. More tea and soap than any one person could ever want. Also have hot lunch and dinner options that are healthier than the place you thought about going later. Would definitely recommend.
One of the best for local foods, moderately price and people friendly
Store of variety of health and wellness products and hot healthy food..
Best grocery in Lex!
I enjoy going here to shop, eat or to just drink tea and talk. A lot of really cool people are always in and out of here. Since I don't go to many bars anymore, this place feels like a hub where I can run into other artists and musicians or thoughtful people. I love the coffee selection, the meat and produce is mostly local. I always buy my eggs, meat and tea here. Great bulk spices as well. This place has many things that no other places have.
I love good foods. It's a clean, efficient place and offer a good and healthy variety of foods.
I like this store. It small and friendly. Feels like a neighborhood convenient store for the health conscious. Produce prices are a bit high though. I have to get mine somewhere else
Good place to go get vitamins and and any extras
Good selection of locally grown veggies, some interesting stuff (blue potatoes), but what we come for is their bulk grains. Most are much cheaper than what we can get elsewhere, a few cost more. Only place I know of to get amaranth. They also have books, vitamins & supplements, kitchen gadgets, purified water & filters, and highly processed organic junk foods. Something for everybody.
Great place with friendly staff. You can find local , organic food for a good price. Also they have a buffet of local foods.
Love the people that work here - always nice, friendly and welcoming! The food in the restaurant is typically delicious and enjoyable. The grocery is nice and has lots of organic and healthy options. I think you have to be careful and compare prices with some other comparable style of stores if price's are an issue. I know some things Good Foods offers the best price while some are at the top of the local price range. Overall, for those that aren't members, I definitely recommend Good Foods Co-op!
Supporting local businesses is highly important in Lexington and this little grocery shop is always worth it! Stocked all year round and friendly helpful staff! The salad bar is delicious and always clean!
Wow, a great place ! Thanks for all the wonderful choices.Everyone was so kind and helpful
It's a great place to shop for natural and organic foods. They aIso have an excellent section with lots of gluten free products. The have local meat, fruit, and vegetables. They have several self serve areas for various items such as candy, coffee, dried fruit, etc. The store is owned by the people as It's a co-op.
Great store and great cafe! Vegan biscuits and gravy! Also, the TLT sandwich is amazing!
The hot buffet is the main reason I come here since I’m vegan. So good the food. The hobbit cupcake is the best thing on earth and their kale is amazing.
A wonderful place to shop for local and organic produce, meat, and fish. They also have an excellent selection of bulk goods and hard to find canned and frozen foods.
I love this place. I like that it's a co-op. I like that you can get everything local, from milk and (sustainably raised) meat to bread and pastries. The cafe is great for a healthy lunch and there is a variety of dessert options (gif, vegan, etc) for when you want something sweet.
Nice locally grown produce. Also has a small buffet for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Great place to get a healthy meal, have many items not found elsewhere.
The food here is always delicious, healthy, and money well spent, cuz the co-op gives back to the community!!
Lexington institution. Good selection, very good deli and barristas
Great merchandise to shop for. Great environment to explore and very helpful staff!
Best health food store in Lex
The cleanliness of this place is why it got 5 stars. But it wasn't their fault. I can't stand the southwest/Mexican flavor profile. That's what they had there for hot food. The people were pleasant, and I had Ale8 for the first time. 5 star win.
Great local store, always something interesting in the place
Great place to shop and eat good food
love good foods! I'm always goaling to eat my weight at the salad bar
The one star is due to a miserable customer/ member. The staff and food are both excellent. The buffet is clean and healthy. I eat here at least four times a week, sometimes more as I work close by. Today I used the small ( ketchup size) sample cups to sample the food before I put it on my tray. They are there for this reason and encouraged. I noticed a woman and what seemed to be her 12 y/o girl with her watching me but assumed maybe they were waiting on someone. Never dreamed she was stalking me or that she was the food police. As I walk to the crowded check out line she walks up to me and loudly tells me samples are not meals and there are rules here. Yes she did, and she doesnt work there. I am not a theif nor did I make a meal out of samples. I was furious to the point of shaking hands and not thinking clearly. But I didnt want to make an idiot out of myself by arguing with her. I did manage to tell her what I do isnt your business and I am paying for my food and that she was very entitled. It took all I had to refrain from saying more. I have never seen this woman before and for her sake hope I never do. The young girl lowered her head and was obviously embarrassed. Who could blame her? I cant imagine what it would be like to be around someone like that daily. Afterwards I realized she was following me around the store and watching me. Who does that?? Its not like I had several helpings of samples or made a meal out of them. I just dont understand some people. Dont kow how soon I will be coming back but for that childs sake and the woman I pray she finds peace and happiness. Bless her guts!!
Great place to snack and pick up organic stuff
A great alternative to big business groceries.
Great local produce. Staff are super friendly.
I use to shop here because it's close to where I live. Great sushi, decent hot/cold bar and local stuff. Service was always bad, but tolerable considering convenience. However, recent experience turned me away for good. Recently spent 20min. waiting for cashier to 'find a manager' to price a can of soda for the customer in front of me. My next visit I had to wait for the floor 'manager' to finish his idle conversation with cashier before being served. Meanwhile the floors are dirty and outside the lot is cluttered with trash, shopping carts and tree leaves from last year while managers mope around doing nothing. This place is visibly very mismanaged. I shop now instead at Wholefoods where it's friendly, clean and get much more than just tilapia and chicKen for same price at the food bar. Go to Meijer to get same organic fruit and veggies for as much as 100% less and treated with dignity and respect-- employees even know my name there. Imagine that!?. 'Lauren' no need to respond to my review with your routine banal anodyne statements. Please. I am finished with the 'Co op'.
I love Good foods. You hear about them struggling but having to wait to use the 5 person restroom is a good problem to have!
Love health food
Food is so delicious and fresh all the time. Every time. You will be so glad you visited. Strike up a conversation with any of the employees and you will make friends instantly.
One of my favorite places ever. I'm there almost daily and am happy to see all the faces. One of my faves is Leah. She always makes sure folk come through the line have the best experience. She's personable, always willing to help, and has super kind eyes. Makes the experience that much better.
The best food store in Lexington for organic food & health related goods. I've shopped there for years.
A great co-op with a hot bar/salad bar to die for. And the vegan goodies
I just go there for berberine which I can't find at other places. So that's good.
I love the bulk section here.
Good: - "pay by the pound" hot and cold bar during lunch and dinner - wide variety of individual items on a deli menu - the options are sure to please anyone who wants to eat healthy or those who do not - friendly service on my visit - convenience: this place is half grocery and half restaurant Bad: - nothing bad to report on my visit This is one of the most unique restaurants I have ever visited. This review based on my first and only visit and I'm very much looking forward to visiting again when in town.
Neat local market with great produce.
I really like Good Foods Co-op, they offer a wide variety food choices for any need. I don't shop here very often as I can go to a competitor and pay a whole lot less for like kind and quality.
This store just has a great local feel to it... the staff is so friendly and helpful. Excellent meat department! My favorite grocery in the city by far.
It is a really nice grocery store full of organic foods. It has a small cafe where you can enjoy some good food.
One of the unique grocery stores in town. Lots of organic veggies, large selection of bulk spices and teas. Most of their fresh meat and cheese is locally done
Nice people, Love the local offerings.
I remember the CO OP from years ago at the old location and they were so nice. Not so much now! They are condescending and they act like they are doing you a favor by acknowledging you. Tim is the only nice /helpful person there.
As always, since I started there, many years ago, an excellent experience. Such a nice, relaxing place with quality food for most all preferences and lifestyles and with more selection than I need. Everyone has treated me essentially as if I were a friend or family when I have asked for help. I, normally, do not like to shop for most anything, particularly groceries. I look forward to shopping there.
Friendly staff, lots of organic and sustainable products.
Fresh food made daily. Great beer collection in the back cooler.
The store was nice and the staff was knowledgeable. I do wish they had a better gluten free selection, but they have gluten free ramen so I'll probably be back.
Good foods is the best place with the nicest employees. Eat healthy and feel good. An excellent salad bar that is super clean. Something I appreciate. And the grocery side is limitless when it comes to choices. Highly recommend. You will not be disappointed. Until you put that container from the salad bar on the scale and realize you over did it
Great place with lots of local products and a great selection of gluten free options. Their hot bar is wonderful. I like shopping at a place that's not a chain store too.
Great place to shop for food. Their prices are on par with the big groceries for produce. The even had Kentucky grown ripe tomatoes in late May! Delicious!
Love that most of the food is locally sourced
Also have great selections of healthy foods!
Amazing in it's day, management has processed the quality out but things have the potential to get better.
