On 10/14 we drove from Louisville to get some pumpkins & apples. When we got there a sign on the door said they would return at 1:00. We were there at 2:00 & waited 15 minutes, no one showed up. Sign also said the grocery & ice cream shop were closed for season. They still had some pumpkins & a few mums for sale. Since we drive out there every year, this was very disappointing. On the bright side, we still enjoyed the ride & we even found a new place to patronize.

Local fruit and vegetables at great prices. Adjoined ice cream shop has delicious, fresh made ice cream for cones, shakes, and floats. Locally famous for their peaches and for their banana ice cream.

This seasonal market has amazing locally grown produce (including the best peaches you will EVER have), prepared foods such as local jams and jellies, honey, and maple syrup, and a little ice cream shop with locally made ice cream, made with fruit they grow. Stop by - you won't be sorry.

REOPENED July 14, 2019 The market closed for the season in December, 2018 and reopened under new ownership July 14 2019. ( Originally posted December, 2018, revised and updated July 26, 2019). The farm and market was in business at this location since 1910 and was owned and operated by several generations of the Bray family until late 2018. They sold to both retail and wholesale customers from this location for more than a century. In recent years Jamae Bray Pyles and her husband, Carlos operated the farm, orchards and Roadside Market until the sudden passing of Carlos in December, 2016. Now Jamae will assist a new owner with the market and producing the same delicious handmade ice cream they made and sold here. I stopped in on July 29, 2019 with some friends and enjoyed some mint chocolate chip ice cream. The ice cream is just as Carlos and Jamae always made. The selection of fresh fruits and vegetables is not yet as extensive as it once was, but quite acceptable considering that this business just reopened two weeks ago under now ownership. They had some nice locally grown peaches that we're remarkably nice. The seasonal closing date has varied from year to year, usually just before Christmas. They have traditionally reopened in late April or early May, depending upon when local strawberries and other early season crops ripen, but opening in 2019 was delayed until mid July due to transfer of ownership. They once grew peaches, other fruits, vegetables, herbs, perennials, annual flowers, more than twenty different varieties of apples, hardy mum's and more. They also sold some locally grown produce supplied by other nearby farms. All farm and orchard produce was locally grown, so available items tradionally varied throughout the growing season. Many varieties of apples were available from their on-site refrigerated warehouse through December. They will continue to make premium handmade ice cream in many flavors on site. Some flavors are seasonal and others rotate from time to time. Unusual offerings have included dandelion and jalapeno peach. A variety of ice cream delicacies are available in addition to cones, floats, sundaes and carry-out packages. Ice cream has traditionally been available only in the warm season. This place is unique and customers have come from many miles away. My family have been loyal satisfied customers for nearly fifty years and I look forward to the tradition continuing under new the owner's leadership. Nice ride, peaches, corn tomatoes and beets. Should of gotten an ice cream.

I used to love going here with my kiddos, I still recognize some of the workers from when I was a kid too. They recently got rid of the pumpkin patch, hay rides, hay maze, tricycle races, and fun activities for the fall season. Now it's just a shop that sells pumpkins on the porch, very disappointing, but understandable as it's hard to keep small family businesses and farms running. However I suggest going somewhere else if you want to actually pick your pumpkins in the fall season.

We came out to get pumpkins and were saddened to learn Carlos Pyles had passed away. While there was no ride to the pumpkin patch, we had a ball choosing beautiful pumpkins for just $5. His widow is selling to family and we look forward to coming back.

Best place to buy fresh peaches and apples in season. Pumpkins, mums, and gourds in the fall near Halloween and Thankgiving. Be sure to try their hand dipped ice cream cones. We have been regular customers here for nearly 30 years and enjoy coming every time.
