Janet Reynolds is my nana, the owner of the fruitstand, along with my papa, Frank Cox. It is a great place to buy the produce that you need. They pretty much hire anybody, but they will need to ask questions about your past and what you've done. I am 10, and I worked there. The pay is pretty good. If you are looking for fresh, delicous items to cook or eat, then I suggest you go to the Hiawassee Fruitstand, and if you are from out of town, you better stop there before you leave. You wouldn't wang to miss out on all the great deals that the fruitstand has in store for you!

Very nice stand with a great selection of produce, jams and jellies, etc. They also had some very pretty outdoor branch furniture for sale. What surprised me the most though were the reasonable prices on most of the items! A small basket of peaches (about 5-6) were only $5. Beefsteak tomatoes were $4 for five of them and they were just starting to ripen. The grapes however were$4.50 for a small basket that my husband and I could've eaten in 10 minutes, so pretty high in my opinion. Not sure if they were something fancy or what, but I wouldn't pay that. But overall we were impressed. Oh, one thing they really need to do is set their jams, jellies, pickeled item, pie fillings, etc. in catagories. They were just on the shelves all mixed up together making it very hard to find something you may be looking for. I've never seen that anywhere else that sells that type of product--it was worse than my cabinets at home!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They carried our purchases to the car. Offered samples, the prices reasonable, I would have liked a better selection of fruits and vegetables. They offer a wide variety of items, plants and even things like lawn chairs for adults and children. They have bottled soda's, which is a huge plus for me personally especially since they have Nehi!! Not easy to find anymore and my favorite. I'll return in the future.

Back open April 2019. Have upped the stars as a result. Some news 3/19/2019: There are small signs outside the market saying "reopening spring 2019." Workers also have been at the market the past week, and the lights have been on in the back where it looks like they might be putting in some stock, working on some shelves, etc. Lights have been on. So there is some promise here. It will be interesting now having two markets with Vine Fresh Produce opening down the road near Cedar Cliff. ----- Previoius One star only as an alert. It may be closed -- temporarily or permanently. It's been closed past couple of weeks, and word on social media is that the wonan who ran it was finding it a lot to handle. Not sure about its future. (If permanent, will miss it. The boiled peanuts, esp. the Cajun, were great.)

Lots of local fruits and vegetables and jams and cured ham. Lovely little find. We just wanted one peach and owners were so gracious and just gave it to us. The peach was delicious, so sweet! And I don't even like peaches.

When in Hiawassee, this is the place to buy veggies and plants. Friendly helpful staff and very reasonable prices. The fresh peaches today are from South Carolina. We never miss the opportunity to shop here when in town.

Hiawassee fruit and Vegetable had a wide variety of local products to choose from. The staff was very helpful and they didn't seem to mind that we were there after closing time. The only thing I saw that could use improvement was that a lot of items had no price so we had to ask about several different things, but overall it was a very enjoyable shopping experience.
